@@juliemartinez1099 yes, I understand very well what they're doing, or what they're trying to do. And that's why I said what I said. You know how they can give people more value for G+? Lower the price.
“Genie-Plus creates the PROBLEM that it proposes to solve.” Couldn’t have said it better myself, David. As a lifelong fan since 1982, who is 400 miles away, the longer wait times that Genie-Plus is creating is making it less desirable for me and my family to visit the parks. 😢
It’s not a problem it’s their solution to get more money. They are creating a place that will cause children to become restless and parents to walk around and find something that requires you to spend money.
I'd say it is a bad business move to add even more stuff to pay for at Disneyland... but... the crowds have not been deterred once in 20 years of inflating prices. So. .idk. weird.
So...do you remember the days in Calif where Disney provided ticket discounts when you bought groceries at certain stores. Back in the mid 60s my parents were offered a new ticket scheme from Disney...no ticket books but a band around your wrist that allowed unlimited attractions...whoa Nellie Bell. So Disney has had to always come up with promotions for expansion...now they promote exclusivity...makes you feel like a donkey on pleasure island.
I remember when all of this was included in the price to get in. Fast passes were free, you weren't glued to your phone for everything. The experience is becoming less for more at this point. I miss the days of actually seeing the whole park and deciding on the fly where to go and not being bound to the phone. Guess I'm getting old and sounding like my parents now!!! 😆
Being glued to your phone is the worst thing parks can force you to do, and old or young, it kills the experience so much. The paper fast passes were the best. they can cheapen those down to the thinnest recycled paper and bare minimum ink, just as long as they come back, but they won't go back now.
Went to WDW recently and felt the same way. Missed going and actualy keeping my head up and just enjoying the park and not having to look at my phone all the time.
I agree with you…..But, that is the way it is at Knott’s, Universal and even Legoland. “Under 30’s” are glued to their phone anyway so to them this is the norm. And honestly at 66 and have gone to Disneyland since 1959, I have to say I’m fairly glued to my phone nowadays as well. Sad for sure, but as the Mandalorian says…”This is the way.”
I feel that. I’ve been going since the 70’s and ticket books and never have I felt like I don’t want to go back. I have grandchildren now and was so excited when the park reopened so I could take them and now I probably won’t. Hurts my heart to think I may have taken my last trip.
It feels like Disney is trying to put as many attractions on Genie+ as possible in order to justify its existence. That suggests not enough people are buying it. Maybe they should consider dumping Genie+ altogether instead.
That’s exactly what they did at WDW with FastPass+. Everything there was on FastPass+ and is now on Genie+, including meet and greets. Like David said, it creates the problem it costs money to subsequently solve.
@@johnpurdy3336 Thank you! I have always thought the same. The FastPass where you have to physically scan your ticket or phone, then come back in the assigned time window was so much better and fair to everyone. Problem is that Disney can't make any extra money of of us that way.
I promise they are selling plenty, that is why the wait times suck for rides. It wouldn't be making such mess of Monsters Inc or Little Mermaid if no one was using it. They won't get rid of it because it's extra income for them. They may change it over time, but likely the price will only increase.
NO NO NO! Big mistake! We have to make our objections known. This is NOT good for guest experience. Disney just keep taking anti-guest moves. We must be outspoken about this.
As someone who can only occasionally visit Disneyland, and used Genie+ to great effect on my last visit, putting Pirates(and Little Mermaid) into Genie+ is stupid beyond belief. When i came to Disneyland in Sept. Of '22, Pirates was never more than 20 minutes, and Little Mermaid was always a walk on. Disney is starting a fire, then selling people buckets of water.
One of the things I LOVE about Pirates is that the ratio of wait time to length of ride is really good. Sitting in air-conditioned darkness on a hot SoCal day for 15 mins is so glorious and totally worth the 20-30min wait on a busy day. This just sucks. So the next time I travel to DL I'm basically forking out Genie for everyone's ticket each day and having to plan my day ahead in order to ride basically anything 🤷🏻♀️ I want to just wander the park and ride whatever grabs our attention. That's just not possible anymore.
The main problem with programs like Genie+ is that when almost everyone thinks that they have priority access no one has priority access. The cost becomes just an increased daily ticket price per person. Fast pass was great. A limited amount of access, by luck of the draw, that was a guest benefit not liability. You presented a very good overview of the issue.
I waited in what seemed to be a semi shortish line for Toy Story Midway Mania and was subjected to a nearly immovable line while Genie+/LL guests blew past us like we were stuck in Carbonite! They allowed 2 standby guests for every 25 Genie+/LL guests to enter the queue near the loading zone. People were VERY upset and started leaving before making it to the halfway point in the standby line. People were yelling at the injustice and threatening to riot. One guy yelled "I paid over $200 a ticket for my family and this is how you treat us? I paid to ride rides, NOT spend the entire day waiting in F***ING inflated lines that burn the day away. It's like Disney is just trying to run out the clock until they can kick us out when the park closes".
The right thing to do is either go back to free fast pass or get rid of the system all together. It's all about greed. It's the right thing to do in regards to trying to correct a wrong they themselves created.
Really proves they Don't know what they are doing. They made Monsters Inc miserable. You used to be able to go on it a few times a day, same with Pirates. Pirates doesn't need it. Not one person asked for it. At some point people are just going to give up going. That's a really stupid clueless reason to put Genie plus on Pirates. You need Pirates to vacuum up guests for the ride closures. This doesn't add value to the Genie plus. It just doesn't. I'll die on this hill.
I miss MaxPass. I felt like it was cheat codes for our visits, and for only like $15 a ticket each day. No one else seemed to use it, and it let me ride Thunder Mountain and the Matterhorn as many times as I could squeeze in.
@@engagexkujo Kind of, except tons of people opted to physically go to the kiosks to get paper fastpasses for each ride for free while the few MaxPass folks could book time slots from anywhere we wanted. We could scan in one maxpass and immediately sign up for our next one without having to traipse off to another kiosk, maximizing the amount we could squeeze into one day, and we could book fastpasses from the hotel room when we went back for a mid-day nap. We could also book the same ride multiple times over the course of the day, and I could select which time I wanted to book. So even though we had to wait 2 hours between unused fastpass bookings, I could theoretically book a bunch of Thunder Mountain rides back to back to back to ride during the last couple hours in the park. The best was refreshing the MaxPass availability for people who cancelled their bookings, so we could ride Cars via fastpass (which was free back then), refresh the page for 5 minutes until someone cancelled their fastpass booking that was about to happen, and claim it to ride Cars again almost immediately. We were able to hop on Cars and Midway Mania over and over through MaxPass way more than would have been possible for paper FastPass grabbers, and way way more than possible now (with or without Genie +). And all for $15 more per ticket. Genie + only lets you book each ride once per day and will only allow you to grab the next available time slot, heavily restricting how you plan out your day, and as the only option to book LL, you have a ton more competition for time slots. I never had to pick Indiana Jones eight hours in advance with MaxPass. And Genie + is at LEAST twice as expensive to add on to each ticket. Genie + and MaxPass may have both used the app, but Genie + is significantly worse.
At Universal, you can buy both Unlimited Express Pass and One Time Use per ride. On our trip a few months ago, we bought the Unlimited pass. Disney needs what Universal has because it was godsend. Not only did you not have to schedule the rides, book the times, and compete with guests to get a time slot on an E ticket attraction, you just got to walk right on after they scanned your tickets. The express pass line wasn't the length of the regular standby line like it is at Disney. The main difference is that Disneys Genie+ service feels like a nessesity to enjoy your trip while Universals Express Pass feels like a luxury.
As long as people keep going to the park, they're gonna keep doing this crap. People who still visit the park after being aware of all this bs are the ones to blame.
I was in a comp ticket last week, so so bought Genie+. The problem is that Rise, Railway, and Indy break down often. By the time Indy was back up and I had a LL available, they were all “sold out” for the night. I’ve been to the park 300+ times, so not a worry for me, but what about the vacation guest?
Thank you for the update, David. I really love Disneyland as much as anyone but it's getting very difficult for me to support going with the decisions being made. It's really sad to see what's happening.
If you go to Knott’s on a non-holiday Sunday morning, or anytime during a non -holiday week, you can get on a ton of rides without FastLane. It’s absolutely dead during off-peak weekdays and you’d be done in 2 hours.
NO, Disney is just trying to nickel and dime their guess. We are back to having to pay for addition tickets for ride. But still having to pay a high price just to enter the park.
Putting more people in long lines allows you to allow more into the park. More people means more money spent. Also justifies the need for more hotel space. No need to add park capacity by building additional attractions. The first time my wife and I went to Disney, we rode every ride we wanted in a single day. Now people are spending big money to ride 4 or 5 rides a day. Disney, to me, is not cost effective. The average family is no longer the target audience.
I don't think that's how capacity works? An attraction adds x amount of people to the park capacity. It doesn't matter if 1000 people are in the rides line, doesn't it still only add 400 to the capacity total.
The thing about knotts berry farm is that you don't need to go on a holiday throughout the year and avoid summer weekends. I can do at least 6 rides within a hour without fast lane.
Yes, and those Knott's rides are absolutely the same quality and level of experience as the ones at Disneyland. No difference at all. Apples to Apples.
I appreciate the effort to be objective, but the problem with the "Genie+ guests deserve value" argument is that Genie+ is OPTIONAL. If Genie+ isn't going to be worth the money for the next 7 months, people can save themselves thirty bucks by not getting it! I don't think 65% of guests should get a worse experience to accommodate the 35% of guests who chose to spend their money unwisely.
When has Disney EVER done something to make the value better when a ride is closing? There have been multiple times where 2 large G+ attractions were under refurbishment and Disney did nothing. I honestly feel like they are using the closure of HM as a Trojan horse to test run Pirates with G+ (something they’ve been wanting to do for years and has been incredibly unpopular amongst guests) and then when HM reopens they’ll say “oh it’s been going well at pirates so it’s gonna keep G+” I genuinely wonder what’s gonna happen to the standby queue. There’s literally nowhere to put it. That’s the reason they never put in fast pass for it. Will be very interesting to see!
Theyve been testing a potential lightning lane line over the last 6+ months. They moved the DAS pass location to the front of the ride and mix them into guests using the right side of the queue.
I've never done the Knott's thing, but I've done Express Pass at Universal. There's a major difference besides just price, and it's definitely more of a premium experience than Genie+, because you don't have to schedule your rides. You just show up whenever. And even then, the wait is usually much shorter than Genie+. It's a lot more expensive, but I honestly find it a better value. But that's obviously gonna vary by person.
Same here. I’m not sure about the Express Pass option at Universal Hollywood, but at Universal Studios Orlando they offer 2 options-1 for one time use per ride and the 2nd is unlimited. The Unlimited Express Pass is also included to all guests staying at their 3 premium hotels as well, which Disney does not offer.
Heart broken. It seems at every turn, Disney is making decisions in the part that make me want to stay away. I do not have faith that they will remove LL from Pirates in the end. :( On top of all the construction.. is EVERY LAND! every where you turn. not appealing.
The problem is that no matter how many times Disney poops on its customers, they keep coming back in droves. Unfortunately, it is long past time for a mass boycott.
Disney is a drug. We are addicted to the feeling we get when we are there, watch the movies, wear the clothes ect. They are the pusher... they will use us up! and move on to the next one in line (literally), and keep on milking that $ :(
I don't think they will forever. It's just gonna take a while. A lot of people are Disney Parks superfans because they have fond memories of visiting when they were a child. I think less and less kids these days have an experience that when they grow up that they want to go back again and again. Disney will turn into a literal once in a lifetime trip at best for most families if they continue this way in my opinion.
My concern is room for the line. It seems like they had plenty of room for a bigger line at Monsters Inc., and even Little Mermaid had extra room. But when the line occasionally gets really long at Pirates NOW, it's incredibly annoying how much of the walkway it takes up, making you go all the way around, and clogging up traffic. So is it going to be like that ALL the time with Genie+? Or is it going to be even worse?
This is exactly why I don’t want to spend my money at Disney anymore. It’s so frustrating. Every time I start missing the park, I think of these problems and I immediately don’t want to go anymore. They have ruined the experience by not caring about guest experiences and all about money.
The problem of Genie plus is that it is not a premium product. You still end up in long lines with Genie plus. Cranking the price and cutting the number of slots would improve most people's experience.
Noooooo! Not Pirates. Well this is unnecessary. As for Knotts, you are spot on. My son and his friends made the most of it because I bought them the front of line. My husband and I could not afford the same luxury and enjoyed a small fraction of what Knotts had to offer. Thanks for keeping us updated! 😊
I just want to say that I love your nuanced responses to these sort of moves. It’s refreshing to hear both the good and the bad of a decision regardless of your personal opinion. That seems to be less and less common in this community. Keep up the good work!
I miss pre-Covid Disneyland so much. With the reservation system and this genie+ being forced down on us it feels like the beginning of less trips from us.
When I take over Disney, Disneyland will be stuck in the 20th century. Everyone will wait in one queue. No line skipping services, no reservations, no apps, no mobile order, no nothing.
@@stanfordite1 pre covid Disneyland had started ordering through the app already and there was also Max Pass which was way better than Genie+. We’re all getting shafted post covid with the reservation system and genie+
In our last visit there was pressure to purchase genie+ in order to make the most of our international trip. Cost a bloody fortune to visit the park. It was very painful.
Disney is known for saying one thing and doing another. Keep this video in the "accessible archives". I'm very curious to see what will happen in August when Mansion reopens. We can refer back to this video where you speculate greed if Pirates stays on Genie+ after that. Very interesting. I do not have high hopes.
As far as the idea of Genie+ needing to have better value…by definition, the more people buy Genie+, the longer the Lightning Lane queues will get…making both Lightning Lane and standby queues insufferable.
My main problem with your value argument is 1. People have already said it, just charge less for genie + until those ride reopen 2. Will Pirate’s’s be removed from genie + when those rides come back? I think we all know the answer to that. I’ve been a pass holder for years now and I’ve never considered not renewing my pass as much as I am now. I’m regretting renewing this year already. Every time I go half the park is closed it seems. Instead of spending $ on fixing breaking down rides we get reskin’s that the majority of people didn’t want. We get new lands that close down just weeks after opening for repairs!?! And Disney greed has never felt as crazy as it is now. Disney is losing its magic, and for many it’s long gone I believe. I really love going to the parks just to walk around and enjoy the sights and decorations, but every time I go now I feel like I’m leaving with some sort of complaint about my day. Even genie +, which I have purchased before has left me with regrets. It makes me sad that I’m feeling this way, but I suspect that I’m not the only pass holder with this opinion.
We went back in May and was our first trip using genie plus and its our least favorite trip to disney in yrs. So much so that we have no future plans to go back and Disneyland is one of my favorite places to visit even as an adult, but the last trip just wasnt that fun.
It is not the right thing to do. The right thing to do would be to get rid of Genie+ altogether. Creating a problem to sell more, especially when the value overall is waning, is absolutely the wrong thing to do.
They should have just removed the extra cost for Rise of the resistance instead of adding Pirates. That would have definitely made the Genie + value remain.
Did you know that there is also a two-tiered society for those who can afford to go at all, and those who cannot? And those who can afford LUXURY accommodations and those who can only afford budget level? There are two-tiers of folks who can afford a personal guided tour and those who cannot. There are multiple tiers EVERYWHERE in the world. Not everything is available to everyone.
I've been anti-Genie Plus and Lightning Lane since the beginning for this very reason! Stop adding rides to Genie Plus!!! Soon everything will be Genie Plus and you will absolutely need Genie Plus to get on any ride. Greedy, greedy, greedy.
Guest deserve the artificial value for their manipulated purchase of genie+. Most guests I come across using it are more frustrated than excited with a quickish line.
Heaven forbid Disney lower the price of Genie+ while major rides are closed to preserve its value--much better to worsen the overall guest experience instead. :p
Nah I am sorry but if they are gonna have a couple attractions closed that are on the list of Genie Plus then they should lower the prices temporarily. Disney is making too many excuses and just upsetting fans more and to be honest they don’t deserve a dime on Genie Plus 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Like Syndrome said in The Incredibles: "When everyone is special...no one will be". Disney never leaves money on the table, I would not be surprised if this is permanent.
Well after my takeover of Disney, I will absolutely leave money on the table like Walt did and make all decisions by asking "What would Walt do?" again. Back to 1966.
Universal does sell an unlimited express pass for more $$$. Legoland’s has tiered levels for theirs. But the biggest difference is that at Universal and Knot’’s and Legoland is the you just show up at the attraction, you don’t have to reserve a time as you do at Disney.
You need things to do when genie+ sucks. Which is kinda always. Plus I don’t need or want genie+ 95% of visits. Genie+ is so lame. Pay all this money for two rides a day. Ugh, makes the rest of the day suck to force people purchase that lame pass.
Save for the fact Universal and Knott’s General Admission are less than half that of Disneyland- Disney charges a premium for a weaker product already; it is foolish to invest in Genie Plus As decade long pass holders we would rather happen upon a short line then commit a large percentage of our visit to a ridiculous time suck, or a premium closer to the front offering - just bring back the ticket book already
Not really. It's actually super UNimportant and won't change much of anything for almost anyone. But... if it IS truly upsetting for you... I congratulate you on having set up your life to where something like a few minutes difference in a line at a theme park is important.
This just goes to show how garbage Disney is now. Only about money and screwing over the guest already cancelled Disney+ and purchasing Disney products and am very close to giving up on the parks
Gene+ is pure profit. And then more people in lines = less people getting food = they can use less staff. So financially it's win win for them and lose lose for us. ( Former Disney stock owner)
Disneyland is nto only down attractions, but down in service and quality over all. Everyone is getting less for more money weather you buy genie + or not.
The thing is if they want a high end experience and are willing to pay for it that makes them the exception. There are less people that would pay for the experience so it would effect the standby line less. This also makes it seems more worth it because there are times with lightening lane that you still have to wait 15-30 min. They would be better off charging 150+ for genie plus and selling it to less people. It would make everyone else feel like it wasn’t like they were being forced into it.
I buy Genie+ every visit, which I value for rides I only intend on riding 1-2 times a day. My family and I routinely ride Pirates 3-4 times each day...I am not looking forward to the queues for ride-throughs 2-4! Sad.
I do know that Universal Studios Hollywood has had their Express Pass offering for over 30 years. I remember being in line right behind a family that was at the front of the line when someone with an Express Pass was escorted past us and placed on the ride ahead of us. To tell you how low key Universal is about that option, we all stood there and questioned what was going on since we did not understand why that person got on ahead of us after we had already spent almost an hour in line for that attraction.
I honestly wasn’t upset at first when Disney said it’s gonna be temporary, however what concerns me is if they say that but then it ends up being a permanent change when Haunted Mansion reopens. If Pirates ends up having a Monsters Inc effect, it’s gonna have a negative impact on the foot traffic by the Rivers of America when the queue stretches outside past the entrance of Pirates, especially during the summer season when Fantasmic is supposed to return. I’m hoping it remains temporary as we wait for Haunted Mansion to reopen!
With splash and hot and mansion closed and then pirates on lightning lane, Disney can go ahead and try but the line will be three hours and they’re gonna have to deal with a lot of unhappy guests at guest relations. They try this stuff all the time and it never works! They’re lucky now, because they have rise of the resistance, millennium, falcon, and Mickey and Minnie all in that park so there is tons of capacity still. But I think the thing that’s really gonna get them to take it off of Jeannie plus is the dangerous guest conditions in New Orleans Square from slow, moving standby weights for Pirates. That land simply cannot hold twice as many people in the queue, as would otherwise be there at any point in time.
when Disney says "improve the guest experience" they are leaving out what you said - the premium guest or the targeted guest. Its totally intended to sell as much as they can.
After doing Disney world for the first time in a decade, Genie plus was only beneficial for the high in demand rides. Avatar, Ratatouille, Cosmic Rewind, and the safari were the only rides I used it for. I would say if you are going to Disneyland for one day, Genie plus is a must.
Dave is wrong. The point of this is to force people to spend even more money just to have the same enjoyment they used to. Soon it will cost a family of 4 over $1,000 per day (non-parkhopper) just to be able to not wait in 3 hour lines. Do to Disney World and watch the LL or Genie + lanes, the standby will not move even if ONE person is in those ques. I have seen them hold a line for 15 minutes while a person walked to the LL que at a snails pace
@@WindowtotheMagic A standard ticket costs about $120 (just a rough average of the ticket pier prices) Now add in Genie and say it is one of the most expensive days at $30. Now add in 3 LL tickets at $15 each. Now for a family of 4 that is $780 just in tickets and line passes alone. How am I exaggerating? It very well could be over $1,000 just for these purchases combined soon. Or did you think I meant per person?
I hope putting Pirates on lightning lane becomes so much of an operational nightmare that they’re forced to backtrack like when they tried to add it to fastpass back in the day.
We only use genie plus because the stand by lines are too long for my 2 year old to stand and wait but they didn't use to be so long. I wish they would bring back fast passes. That system worked so much better.
If the lines used to not be long, then why did you use fastpass before? You used it to avoid the long lines, just like now. And there is nothing wrong with that, at all. That's why it's offered.
I have the answer... everyone rent a wheelchair. Fifteen bucks and scoot through the exit to enter. Genie Plus is for the Savey rich that buy up all the passes before you even get out of the shower at the hotel.
I can almost guarantee you what Disney is trying to do is have you buy a ticket to get into the park and then have to pay to go on each individual by purchasing genie+. Just like they did when they first opened. You had to buy a ticket to get in and then buy a ticket book for the rides.
After visiting Universal in November, I would gladly pay double or triple to have an express pass at Disneyland. Can you imagine? Unlimited lightning lanes all day and not having to look at your phone repeatedly? That would be great. Universal has the express pass unlimited where you can ride as many rides as you want
I too had no desire to purchase Genie +. But this past New Year's weekend did buy Genie + because of high guest volume. It truly did increase the number of attractions we were able to enjoy. But 2/3 into our day we had gone on all our Genie + rides and could no longer book anymore. Wasn't happy about that. So it has its good and bad. I feel that "Fastpass" was a much better option.
For the first time in years, I didn't renew my season pass, and I feel a sense of relief! Going to the park has become too stressful. I could barely get on ANY rides, even after getting Genie +. I just felt nickel and dimed everytime I went. We decided on Knott's season passes for 2024, and it's far more cost effective! I think my 7 yr old likes Knotts better as well, bc Mommy isn't so stressed out. Disney will always be #1 for me, and I'm sure I'll become a season pass holder again one day. But for now, my son and I will be at Camp Snoopy in Buena Park. ❤❤

Lowering the price of their main way they monetize attractions was never on the table for Disney. This is extremely farfetched.
They’re trying to give Genie plus value since Haunted Mansion is going down now too very soon.
@@juliemartinez1099 yes, I understand very well what they're doing, or what they're trying to do. And that's why I said what I said. You know how they can give people more value for G+? Lower the price.

I will not be renewing my passes and I will no longer attend Disneyland resorts. Done will all the greed.
The main problem with programs like Genie+ is that when almost everyone thinks that they have priority access no one has priority access. The cost becomes just an increased daily ticket price per person. Fast pass was great. A limited amount of access, by luck of the draw, that was a guest benefit not liability. You presented a very good overview of the issue.
like Syndrome from The Incredibles said, "when everyone is super no-one will be"
I waited in what seemed to be a semi shortish line for Toy Story Midway Mania and was subjected to a nearly immovable line while Genie+/LL guests blew past us like we were stuck in Carbonite!
Unfortunately, they have us in a headlock. You will have to buy genie + or you will wait. Period
Fastpass, maxpass, boarding pass, lightning lane... it's all just one giant shell game scam resulting in a guest experience that is not magical.
They know what they’re doing. It’s nickel and diming, and they’re pushing it as far as they can.
I miss MaxPass. I felt like it was cheat codes for our visits, and for only like $15 a ticket each day. No one else seemed to use it, and it let me ride Thunder Mountain and the Matterhorn as many times as I could squeeze in.
It seemed nicer back then but with how they force the app to be a necessity it would work just like genie+ does now
@@engagexkujo Kind of, except tons of people opted to physically go to the kiosks to get paper fastpasses for each ride for free while the few MaxPass folks could book time slots from anywhere we wanted.
So we physically stop people from going to the parks.
I always go in early November. We used to do everything we wanted MULTIPLE times in 1 day! Both parks! LL ruins.
I don't think 65% of guests should get a worse experience to accommodate the 35% of guests who chose to spend their money unwisely.
pirates is a prime example of how lines could move without genie+. i think this is not a good decision
When has Disney EVER done something to make the value better when a ride is closing? There have been multiple times where 2 large G+ attractions were under refurbishment and Disney did nothing. I honestly feel like they are using the closure of HM as a Trojan horse to test run Pirates with G+ (something they’ve been wanting to do for years and has been incredibly unpopular amongst guests) and then when HM reopens they’ll say “oh it’s been going well at pirates so it’s gonna keep G+”
I genuinely wonder what’s gonna happen to the standby queue.
I am starting to think that disney is looking at making all attractions pay as you go again. Makes you wonder.
Knotts entrance price is much less so $100 for Fast Lane seems ok. That makes a big difference.
Disney just needs to go back to Fastpass. It was free and available to everyone regardless of income.
Those were the days
This has nothing to do with increasing value for Genie+ users, since paid Genie+ is completely unnecessary in the first place.
This is insane! We do NOT need lightening lane or Genie+ on Pirates! Who do we email to complain?
Oh my goodness... really Disney.?? Please don't do this!!
@@stanfordite1 you know pre Covid Disneyland had Max Pass which was great and you could order food through the app too.
@@MrRubme I hate apps. I want to order all food by talking to a person and when I take over Disney, everyone will have to do so again.
@@stanfordite1 pre covid Disneyland had started ordering through the app already and there was also Max Pass which was way better than Genie+. We’re all getting shafted post covid with the reservation system and genie+
@@MrRubme Disney under my rule will be asking "What would Walt do?" again to get things done, so its back to the 1960s.
In our last visit there was pressure to purchase genie+ in order to make the most of our international trip. Cost a bloody fortune to visit the park. It was very painful.
So very, very true! The wait times really got me regretting renewing my pass.
Good news! Your pass expires this year and you can choose NOT to renew at that time. It's a win-win!
It's a shame there is literally no way to adjust the pricing of Genie + to reflect the value.
Disney is known for saying one thing and doing another. Keep this video in the "accessible archives". I'm very curious to see what will happen in August when Mansion reopens. We can refer back to this video where you speculate greed if Pirates stays on Genie+ after that. Very interesting. I do not have high hopes.
People are paying over 300$ a day to go to disneyland. Thats sad
This is how we know Disney still isn’t listening to us.
I can’t believe that they are doing this. They tried it with Fastpass several times and each time it failed. Greedy fools.
How long will it be before we get to virtual tickets books?
As far as the idea of Genie+ needing to have better value…by definition, the more people buy Genie+, the longer the Lightning Lane queues will get…making both Lightning Lane and standby queues insufferable.
With how Genie+ is, they should switch from the good Genie to Jarfar’s Evil Genie
My main problem with your value argument is
1. People have already said it, just charge less for genie + until those ride reopen
That standby is already such a cluster in the walkway.
It is not the right thing to do. The right thing to do would be to get rid of Genie+ altogether. Creating a problem to sell more, especially when the value overall is waning, is absolutely the wrong thing to do.
CMs were told this is temporary till mansion returns
Which won't be til 2025 apparently
@@bemiatto67 haunted mansion holiday should be here in late august so that’s not entirely true
They should have just removed the extra cost for Rise of the resistance instead of adding Pirates. That would have definitely made the Genie + value remain.
Welcome to the Genie Plus mess that we have in Disney World. They have created a two tier society. The haves and the have nots.
I will admit when we go on Pirates the stand goes very smooth for us, So we will DEFNINATLY not use Genie plus
I've been anti-Genie Plus and Lightning Lane since the beginning for this very reason! Stop adding rides to Genie Plus!!! Soon everything will be Genie Plus and you will absolutely need Genie Plus to get on any ride. Greedy, greedy, greedy.
I don’t know how people keep handing over their cash for a such a degraded experience.
Guest deserve the artificial value for their manipulated purchase of genie+.
Most guests I come across using it are more frustrated than excited with a quickish line.
It does not need it! Now the line will slow down for standby!
….or they could just reduce the cost of Genie plus. 🤷🏻♀️ God forbid.
Get rid of the system altogether. The stand by lines will go much faster without the system
Can we get David into the DL president seat, please?
Save for the fact Universal and Knott’s General Admission are less than half that of Disneyland- Disney charges a premium for a weaker product already; it is foolish to invest in Genie Plus
As decade long pass holders we would rather happen upon a short line then commit a large percentage of our visit to a ridiculous time suck, or a premium closer to the front offering - just bring back the ticket book already
This pirate news is so upsetting 😡
Greed, Plain and simple. vote with your wallet. dont go to the parks. i know its a horrible statement. but yet it is still true.
Gene+ is pure profit. And then more people in lines = less people getting food = they can use less staff. So financially it's win win for them and lose lose for us. ( Former Disney stock owner)
Did you sell your stock when it was in the $70's?? If so, I want to thank you for making the extra stock I purchased at that time, available.
Sad.
This is my reasoning too. People go on this ride several times a day normally. We used to do the same with Monsters Inc.
Disney stop the Genie plus please. Genie plus just makes a mess of things.
Good morning David…Am excited hearing all of your newsy news!!🤩💫👏
Nooooooooooooo why they insist on ruining everything.
A month long boycott of genie plus would put it to an end and make it irrelevant!
After doing Disney world for the first time in a decade, Genie plus was only beneficial for the high in demand rides. Avatar, Ratatouille, Cosmic Rewind, and the safari were the only rides I used it for. I would say if you are going to Disneyland for one day, Genie plus is a must.
They need to drop the prices - it adds so much stress on us travelling to the US from foreign lands
You REALLY should avoid exaggeration when trying to convince people of something that you want them to believe is true.
You can get an unlimited express pass at a heavy premium along with single use express pass. Surprised Disney has not done the same.
I have never purchased anything on Genie....and never ever will. This is getting ridicules and I hope that customer protest will be STRONG.
yeah. Who care about increasing capacity? Just put all these guests into some line and make them wait for hours.....
