  • Crochet Circle Join, Invisible Join for Tapestry Crochet, Amigurumi
The Circle Join is easiest done with Clover Crochet Hooks amzn.to/2K7k4QZ because of their slightly larger, padded handles and super glide shaft.
The Crochet Circle Join (also called the Invisible Join) is used to close the gap between rows when crocheting in the round. It makes for a more professional look when doing Amigurumi, Tapestry Crochet Design Work, creating colorwork designs on hats, socks, or anything that you create in the round.
I learned how to do this in 1970 (as a freshman in highschool). One of the ‘clubs’ that was held after school was a Crochet Club. During the first club meeting they were teaching how to make School Color Themed Socks (here’s to the the green and gold). My first club project to make a pair of socks (and we each got a nifty patch to put on our socks too).
A while later, when I learned Tapestry Crochet (and back loop design work) I truly fell in love with the Crochet Circle Join. Back loop Tapestry Crochet wasn’t very popular than, and I have to thank the second club I belonged to for teaching this skill to me when no books were really showing it. I was told that the technique could be traced back to the roaring 20s and the cloche hats. I never looked up, but it’s nice to think that it has history.
    ** SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES **
    1. The Crochet Hook I used during the video was a D 3.25 mm, Clover Crochet Hook. I started using Clover Crochet Hooks shortly after my hand surgery and I truly believe they are part of what’s kept me crocheting. amzn.to/2K7k4QZ
    2. The yarn I used was Caron Simply Soft, 100% Acrylic, Worsted Weight in Lemon Yellow, and Blue Mint.

I've watched several videos on this and this is the *only* video I found that was so well-explained! You're such a patient and incredible teacher! I wish I stumbled on this before my recent project, but at least my uneven line is going to be hidden for this project. But my next? I'm using this technique! And your demeanour really brightened my morning! :D I needed that bright spot to my day!

Your technique borders on Genius. My only regret is, I wish I'd seen your video years ago. Colour changes have always been a rather big obstacle to overcome, and I've ALWAYS tripped over where the colour changes are in my finished project. I LOVE THIS BRILLIANT AND HOBBY CHANGING SOLUTION! I now cruise through the changes with your technique and ABSOLUTELY love the final result! A BIG THANK YOU to you! BTW I love your voice. It's perfect and very pleasant. Easy to understand too. The Circle Join does work with both full loop and back loop. Try both and see how you like it. Just remember that, even when doing back loop, the circle join is still done in the full stitch. I'm so glad you found this video informative.

Thank you for making this video. Sometimes you just have to go that extra mile in order to get the look that you want instead of "oh well". Many years ago a kind crocheter quickly taught me how to join the rows on a hat that I was doing. I had never thought about what she taught me in minutes (on the bus). I never forgot that lesson because I had made dozens of hats without doing the invisible join. I also saw how to decrease without leaving a gaping hole in the work. I laughed and laughed at how I decreased, but, it did work, it's just that it didn't look perfect and you could see what was done real easy. I'm a visual learner and these videos are just what the doctor ordered. You helped to bring back my joy of crocheting. Thank you again for sharing with us.

Thank you so much for such a great tutorial Sandy-Maree. In answer to your questions, I mainly crochet amigurumi so the majority of my crochet is in the round. However, I am learning to make mochila bags and your tutorial has made my colour changes so much neater!!

Thank you so much ! Just what I needed to improve my work. All the best with your surgery recovery. I found Vitamin B6 handy for reducing inflammation.

Wow great video! I learned what circle crochet was and how to join without that un-leveled edging. I appreciate it💖💖💖

Really enjoyed your video. I've been crocheting for 16 years and have never liked the continuous spiral patterns people create for amigurumi besides for heads. I'm constantly "fixing" patterns I find to fit my own opinion of what looks better. Nice to see someone who also thinks "outside the box" and has so much experience. :)

It's crocheters like you who make me proud. Never stop trying to "fix" things and make them better. Thank you for posting comment. 😊

Thank you, thank you for such an easy way of changing colours in the round. I have tried another way of doing this, however, I found quite complicated and difficult to manage. I tried your pattern last night and it turned out really well. Again many thanks. God bless
