There's a saying that goes, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". Well you certainly taught this old dog a few new tricks. I've been crocheting and knitting over 60 years, and while I've seen others demonstrate the invisible join, slip stitch, and jogless color changes, nobody has explained how to do this with the clarity you have shown. Great speaking voice, no distractions, and clear view of every step you take, this is by far the best of the best explanations. And such an improvement over other methods. Thank you so much. Will definitely recommend you in all the crochet groups I belong to, which is where I found your video recommended by another admirer. Again, thank you for making this a delightful learning lesson. ))
I second Linda’s emotion...I’ve been crocheting for 35 years and these techniques are life changers for sure! Excellent tutorial, very clear and easy to follow. Thank you...you’ve gained a subscriber 👍🏻
Ditto what Linda and Rebecca said!! Wonderful tutorial and such an improved joining method!! Love the simplicity of how you slipped the stitch marker over the loop. I have been struggling with splitting the yarns🧶 when I tried to slide my bulb safety pin stitch marker through the stitch AFTER creating the chainless hdc and dc...this old dog is learning so much from you youngsters!!! Thank you sooo much 👍🏼🥰🧶😍
As a beginner, I went to try this first to confirm if it works, before I comment. Thank you so very much. I CHECKED and TRIED more than 3 tutorials. None worked perfectly except yours. Thank you so very much. God bless you. ❤
I really appreciate that you showed how to do this with three different common stitches. Your instructions and video are very clear, and you repeated just enough to help me understand, without going so slow that my mind wanders. I also like it that you took the time to show the finished effect - some presenters rush through the technique and don’t really show you how it turns out. Good job!
I have been crocheting for only two years. I have read instructions and watched videos and have been at times left so confused, I just wanted to give it all up. I accidentally ran across your video on joining blocks using the invisible mattress stitch and was so enlightened, I watched a collection of videos on crochet stitches and techniques. You are an expert teacher. Thank you so much for the time and effort you have put into the production of your videos. A fan forever.
Excellent. You never went out of frame or out of focus. The lighting was good , and your formation of the stitches was easy to follow by eye. Perhaps you should produce a tutorial on how to produce tutorials. Oh, and the join technique is impressive, too.
I want to thank you for this well explained and clear instructions of how to do invisible stitches seamlessly. The way you change colors in the round will help to make flawless projects that no one believes you made. Thank you again for sharing your helpful knowledge with us.
Finally! I found this technique. I've tried 3 techniques and this is the first one that worked and created the effect I wanted. AND it wasn't too hard to learn for a beginner in crochet. Thank you for showing all of the different stitches as well.
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I'm making hats for charity and I didn't want to keep cutting the yarn, like one method I saw, only have a bunch of tails eventually poking out. Especially after they've been washed. And threading in all that yarn creates raised areas that might be uncomfortable to people with no hair. The other methods I've seen don't really look that great, especially with a dark hat and light stripes. The seam where the color change is, sticks out like a sore thumb. I have spent countless hours...days really, trying different methods. I even tried to come up with a better way myself, to no avail. Lol! This made my year! Thank you! ❤🧶🙏
Exceptionally well explained. I had a whole bunch of tutorials on jogless colour changes and seamless rounds lined up to go this morning and I thought I’d have to sit here experimenting until I found a technique that worked but you’ve explained it all in one excellent video. Seriously the best tutorial I’ve ever seen.
In few words....Agree with Linda, Rebecca, Pamela etc, etc. The best tutorial for this tecnique I've ever seen. Congrats, you have another subscriber.!
Best invisible seam and jog-less color change for crocheting in the round I have seen. Your first hdc or dc in each round looks like a variation of a hanging stitch. Definitely looks more like a real dc, or hdc than a chain, but it is thicker due to the extra stand of yarn. I start each round with a temporary chain 2 using a 6 inch scrap of yarn, then continue with the main color. When I get back to the temporary chain I pick it out and do the last stitch with a long tail yarn, so I can pull the tail through the last stitch and use a needle to finish the stitch as you would do when ending the last round of a cuff or hat. No slip stitch, no chain, no seam. I wish I could do videos as good as yours, to show how I do it. It does leave vertical stands of yarn on the inside and requires starting with a very long tail; long enough to make as many stitches as there are rows in what you are making.
Linda S. sounds a lot like me. I've been doing this for about 50 years and I'm just in awe of how well this technique works. I'm sure it will take me a lot of practice but I'm going to keep at it till I get it right. I also think you have shown in a precise and pleasantly manner of how to do this. I'm glad I ran across this channel and I have subscribed because I like how you teach.
I am a newbie in crochet world, mainly crafting with papers and so on. Recently I fell in love with bag crocheting and amirugimi, this tutorials very very helpful to produce well-finished bags and dolls. Thank you so much for sharing. Feel so lucky to found your channel. Big hugs from Indonesia.
WOW!!! Just finished making a child’s “cat ears” hat and I don’t like the non-seam SEAM look on the back of it. Will complete sewing on the ears and make another, NON-SEAMed hat!!! The invisible join is delightful to see and easy to do. Thanks. The simplicity of pulling tight the previous color of yarn tight on the new color, for stripes! Oh, my! What another commenter said about “teaching an old dog new tricks” goes for me, too! Decades of crochet!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL!!!
I forgot all about this trick; it's been around forever mostly I've seen with ladies from the UK. I hate chain 3, ect and have done all sorts of helpful hints from crocheters. Glad I was surfing and ran into your invisiable stitch. I never seen the HDC so thanks for sharing. 🧶🧵💖❗🥰🗽
This video blew my mind! For one, the incredible new knowledge you've taught this old lady, and second, you're unbelievably clear instruction. I certainly home you are teaching somewhere. Thank you for your incredible knowledge. I'm going to have to subscribe and see what other valuable information you can teach me.
This was so helpful! I've watched a lot of videos but you definitely have this very clearly demonstrated and explained. I can't wait to try this now! Thank you!
I also have been crocheting for years. I am just stretching out to trying Amigurumi. Your technique for single crochet jogless join is so, so simple, it is a game changer. Thank you so, so, so much.
I had watched 3 videos prior to this one and this was by far the easiest to understand with changing colors on a loop to make the stripes look straight and seamless. Well done.
Thank you Thank you!!! I have been crocheting now for about 4 years now and I am currently working on a project that involves this striped pattern and I am so glad I found this tutorial and yes you have a natural teaching voice and easy to follow steps. I frogged an entire project because of the uneven seam and color sequence changes. Look forward to seeing more of your tutorials.🧶🪡☺
Phenomenal video-I hated the meandering seams! From other videos, I was able to improve the joins a bit, but your video is so clear and sensible, I finally am confident that I have eliminated the “jogs”. THANK YOU so much!! (edited for typo)
One of the best explanation for alternative chains! Knitter- crocheted years ago- but newly interested in crocheting again! Doing hats to start our, but hated the ridges I see on most of the chocheted hats!
Just found you. I have been crocheting for forever and you had me so confused at the beginning and then it all made sense. I am making bumble bees and can not get the stripes right. OMG this will work sooo great....thanks and I will be following you from now on.
This is the best most useful video I have seen in a very long time. You are very confident and knowledgeable on your subject matter. Thank Yugoslavia so much.
I have watched this video so many times! Before starting a new project I watch it again to make sure I’m doing it right. Cannot tell you how helpful it is for me!!! Thank you so much 😊
I just found this video and I have been crocheting for a little over a year now. This is definitely going to assuage my OCD when crocheting my bees. Thank you so much!
This is a GREAT video! I have always hated that wonky line when working in the round for hats, and now I know how to avoid it. Thanks so much; this will make my work look SO much better!
Girl, that was amazing! I've been crocheting for just a few months and your invisible slip stitch + chainless starting stitch technique fixes something that has bothered me from the beginning - and I didn't even know it could be fixed, let alone how to look for the solution. I don't usually leave comments, but could not let this one slide. Thanks a million :)
This is SO good! I'm a fairly new crocheter and have avoided making any patterns where I see a "sl st, ch x" at the end of each row because I cannot stand the seam that it makes. So this technique is revolutionary to me! Thank you for explaining it so thoroughly and for showing how to use it on multiple kinds of stitch types!
Oh BRILLIANT !!! what a lovely clear video and you are an awesum teacher. Thank you so much ! ! I am not a natural crotcheter, more of a sewer, but I do love it so much and battle my way through patterns, pulling out and redoing a coupla times before getting that 'aha' moment, even having to watch a video tutorial a few times before getting it ... but your instructions are so clear I had an aha moment every time 😍
That was awesome! You were a great instructor. Clean, clear, precise instruction. Camera work and lighting excellent. You're a pro and I will look for more from you as I am a beginner to crocheting, only a year or so. I just can't give you enough props for this tutorial. Great job! 🤗🙆👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much. I'm so glad I found this. You completely changed my work. I kept thinking there had to be a better way because I hated the way the seam looked. You fixed my problem. Thank you ❤️
This is amazing! Thank you so much for this neat trick and I do mean neat. Makes time consuming work look so much more professional. Now I will start that sweater made in the round that I’ve hesitated making because of the wonky seam looking stripe down the back 🧶
I LOVE learning new things and this video taught me SOOO much. Your teaching style ( and voice) are perfect for my brain. Thanks so much and I’ll definitely be following and learning from you from now on! ❤️ 🧶
Your videos are so well done! They're very easy to learn from. You are a great teacher, explaining and showing what we are learning so clearly! Thank you for all the great help!
BRILLIANT! Love your explanation and demonstration of the invisible slip stitch, chainless beginning double crochet, and neat joining for new colours. I've successfully used all three techniques for a new beanie and will use them in future projects. THANKS!
I came across this tutorial being truly amazed and it was brilliantly explained. What a difference to both the tutorial that you gave and to other tutorials that are given by other people. I would imagine that this could work with Amagurami. This is one that I will definitely share with some of my crocheting friends❤😊
So glad I found this tutorial... You are absolutely brilliant!!!! Ican so use this in making top down sweaters and sooooooo many other things worked in the round... THANK YOU!!!
I just made a pullover sweater for my granddaughter, and the back has a seam that looks like a snail's path. Luckily she still loves it! My next one will be perfect! Thanks!
What a great tutorial. Your voice is nice, calm and easy to understand. The technique is brilliant. Makes me want to crochet something immediately! You have a new subscriber. Thank you.
Thank you! Those were some of the same issues I’ve had for years especially with granny squares. Chaining up just stood out like a sore thumb. You added a new color the same way I have been doing for many years. I’m hoping this will make me happier with crochet work that I do. I’m tired of ripping out many rows multiple times. Thank you! I’m s0 glad I seen this before I started my new hat‼️ I’m a toy maker and the seams drive me NuTs‼️ looking at this beautiful new pattern I’m about to dive into, it’s the only thing I see‼️ I haven’t even started and it’s driving me nUts‼️ To the point of putting it off. I just can’t thank you enough 🙌🏼‼️
This is fantastic! You did a super duper job. I've been crocheting over 40 years and this is the very best join for continuity I have ever seen. Your lighting is great and your voice is perfect. Thank you so very much. You made my week!
Awesome! Brilliant! Fantastic! 👏🏾 Thank you so so very much for doing this video tutorial. Wow I have been trying to find a way to change colors and your video is the best I've seen. It is so simple and it really hides the other yarn I really appreciate you sharing this. Thank you 😊
I wish I had seen this YEARS ago. I have always hated using the beginning chain. I can imagine how my finished projects would have been nicer. I am going to try incorporating this into all my projects.
I am so glad I found this video. I didn't know there was a way to eliminate the ugly ridge that forms when joining rounds. This will make my projects look way more professional. Thanks for sharing this technique.💜
Just what I was looking for. I am new to crocheting and could not figure out how to join like that as I am making bobble hats. Great tutorial. So clear. Thank you.
Waooo amazing crochet trick thank you for doing this video it’s taught me a few things . Am only new to this pls keep on with your good work much appreciated
Really enjoyed this tutorial. I learned a new way to avoid the starting chain, which is better than the previous way I had learned. Your voice is very soothing. 👍😊
this is Wonderful!!! i have never before heard of the chainless starting stitches and i have never seen an easier way to do the invisible slip stitch ... i did a swatch with 2 colors and i FINALLY had Perfect STRIPES !!!! THANK YOU !!!!!

The best tutorial on seamless joining and no colour jogging that I've seen. Will be putting it into practice today!

I totally agree xx
Brilliant video. I have watched so many and just couldn't get it right. Thankyou

Watching this in 2021 and this by far THE BEST technique for a seamless colour change with an amazingly explained/filmed instructional style video

Thank you so much for this video. Have always disliked the raggedy look of the join in a beautiful piece of work. This makes my day!!!
