Thanks for the huge effort on this, and appreciation of the complexities involved. They've always had some prog tendencies but generally within a fairly accessible whole - the trading vocals and multilayered arrangements are what I love about the band but their songs can really vary very wildly.
My pleasure mate! I'm really not sure exactly how they manage to make a song as manic as this so accessible, will defo need to spend a bit more time analysing their stuff to try and figure out some of their tricks!
That's really in-depth analysis, nice Gacharic Spin has 3 main song writers, TOMO-ZO (guitar), Oreo (keyboard) and Hana (guitar/vocals). Hana's known to write a bit more darker/edgier songs so this one comes from her. Now about her guitar, it's a custom guitar made by Vellmor (Japanese brand I think). Koga's signature bass models are also made by Vellmor. Btw, I see the original video for Rashin Glow and also MV for Redline, were there more that got blocked?
Very cool, good to know! Redline is from about 2 years ago, it's just been sitting in a blocked youtube limbo for ages. That really put me off looking at more of their stuff, YT seems to be changing I don't know how but some videos that were blocked are allowed through now
Alright, such a deep analysis (which is fantastic btw) deserves some additional thoughts ;) Just pronounce their name as Gachapin (they also use this short version of the band name). They indeed use midi to trigger the effect changes, a single person couldn't do it for all 3 to 4 singers over a 2 hour show, just not feasible. They had their "laptop" with them from the very beginning, since they had to use backing tracks when they only were 3 musicians and 1 vocalist and had a ton of keys and samples. The song is actually called Ranshin Glow (ranshin standing for disorder/chaos). They usually write their music according to the meaning of a song, so this chaos is intentionally. The Riff (and part of the verse) actually is dm/Bb/dm/B which gives it the haunting sound with the repeating hook "Ranshin Glow Ranshin Glow" being the steady element for the ears of the listener. The guitar transition right before the chorus is actually modulating to Eb for 2 bars before the chorus again modulates to e-minor. I think you missed the onslaught of modulations in the end: After jamming in dm for a bit, they modulate 4 bars each f-minor, f#-minor, g-minor, g#-minor, then end up on a-minor before the final stabs being in d-minor again. I had to refer to the studio audio to hear some of that stuff, cause it's not really transparent on the live audio. Love your insights and hope you'll get to do (and post) more of their songs - Cheers :)
Thanks for giving them a super in-depth review, this is your second review of this song? Have you ever checked out their song MindSet? Both the MV or any of the live versions they have on their channel are amazing!
Thanks bud! I tend to do a watch through reaction, then a deeper one with lots of pausing. So a more through second viewing type thing. Some folk just want a straight reaction format, so it made sense to split them in to two different videos. Nah, haven't heard MindSet, will pop that on my list- cheers for the suggestion!
It's sad to hear that they are blocking reactions to their stuff because reactions is partially how they have grown (at least in the West). It's also somewhat surprising because they are now on Band-Maids old label which were generally pretty good with reactions as far as I know. Their older stuff is on Lovebites' label which apparently used to be a pain to work with but seems to be better now, but maybe they are not for bands that left them or maybe the new label just hammers down more than I realized. Luckily this one went through. It's always interesting to hear musicians give their take on all the madness that is happening during their songs.
Happy for our reactor friend to correct me, but it sounds like its just the one video, which was his Redline reaction that did seemingly make it eventually. I've never heard of one of their live vids being blocked, that one was from the 10th anniversary and not an official upload, so perhaps better to stick with those. Having said that, the Gacharic Fan channel has been uploading so much of their content unofficially that I can't see that they're causing a problem, and none of my uploads have been blocked (not sure if JB is trying to dispute claims). You know that I've requested 100s of GS reactions over the last few years and I'm only aware of a couple of older MV's that have ever caused any issues (2017 and older).
Totally, I think some record companies just haven't caught up with the times, Japan seems to be pretty strict with copyright, but a lot of it has eased off in the past few years, hopefully that will continue!
Yeah, Redline was blocked for about 2 years. I'll make a note of that Gacharic Fan channel as well, cheers for the tip. I've got no idea how it works, but recently a few videos I'd uploaded years ago (and just left as blocked, in the hope they might one day become un-blocked) which got blocked as soon as they were uploaded have been allowed to go live.

The teddy bear is Angie's mascot. The "water bottle" has a waistband clip and an opaque lower half, who know's what it even is?
Well that solves the bear mystery and sheds some light on the bottle as well- many thanks for that!
