Brilliant! This track is definitely one of their hidden gems that often times goes under the radar, cause they just have too many bangers haha. Also, i'm sure you've heard but just in case, they released an album 2 days ago! And funny you should mention Polyphia cause one of the new songs has a quirky section that comes out of nowhere, and is very reminiscent of Polyphia, very jazzy. I think it's their most prog song to date in terms of variety in the song. It's called Forbidden Tale, in case you want to check it out :p I think it's quickly becoming a new fan favourite! But anyway, great job as always mate, cheers! (PS : i think it's the first time you reference Dragonforce in a BAND-MAID video lol)
Cheers dude! Will try and make some time this week to check out the new album! I think it's the first, and perhaps only time I'll be able to reference Dragonforce in a band maid tune, lol!
Excellent deep dive Teacher! These girls pack so much music into three minutes that it can alter your perception of the passage of time. Maybe something to do with the law of gravity, lol? Thanks Jack!
I am 3 minutes in and I didn't realize this was going to be a pick scrape master class. Ok finished listening to the analysis. I agree about the quirky bit. It was a bit jarring for me at first but grew on me. As you have likely heard by now, but the ladies just dropped a new album. There is a song on there called Forbidden Tale that takes many twists and turns. Fascinating song and hit quite the emotional chord for me (no it isn't a ballad). It is supposed to be their next MV.
Jack, thanks for another excellent tutorial, especially bringing back the equalizer. 13:00 might've gotten "weird and awkward" to some, but for me, hearing that soft distortion in the background reminds me of Silversun Pickups, which is one of my fave bands. FYI, I just threw some GBP into your tip jar.
Yeah, I figured adding that bit more of B major 7 in the background and a subtle camera effect would help, never heard fo those guys before will need to check them out! Many thanks my dude!
Guitar-ing. I love that term! I grew up in the Van Halen era and never thought I would hear a group of members that were as impressive, innovative and as fun as those old boys from Pasadena. Thanks, JBF, your reviews are always so informative.
Great song, one of my very many favorite Band-Maid songs. MISA is one of the best bass players there is. Quirky is Band-Maid's middle name 🙂They always come up with strange and cool parts that works.
I really like this song, but it doesn't get talked about much. There were times when there was no synth part in the live performance. Maybe it's because it's been a while since they last performed an old song live, but the rhythm guitar created a wall of sound, which was really good in itself. It's also interesting that this song is the theme song for a Japanese horror movie.
Fascinating, I can't imagine how this would work with a typical horror film, unless it's a sort of "here's a normal thing, but actually it's not normal", kinda a more cutesy Chucky?

@12:47 b Major 7 vibes
Great once again Jbf ❤🔥❤🔥
✨✨✨
A banger. One of my personal faves. Rarely reacted to.
Ditto that for me!
It's moved right up there for me as well!

I'm sure it's to do with gravity, that makes sense 😵🤣

He MUST do a deep dive on that one! 😅
I'd be up for seeing how band maid tackle a more proggy tune!
Argh, I probably do... don't I? That'll fry my brain for sure

Great analysis as always, well done! I love the bridge where it is a bit quirky :). Thanks for the sharing, as always, look forward to the next one.
Thanks, it's grown on me a bit, but I'm still not totally convinced

This song just makes me grin like an idiot. Especially the chorus, but all of it really.
It's a right little banger!
Definitely some synth in the intro that you might be attributing to guitar. Strings.
