The quicksand in spiny dessert is meant to incentivize you to use mushrooms in order to quickly get across the happening spaces. It may be kinda annoying, but the board is set up so you almost always have a mushroom available to use when you need to. The mechanic isn’t really annoying because the game gives you multiple opportunities to circumvent it
this channel is so criminally underrated. You have great content, great production value and even an identifiable brand (those red thumbnails look cool as hell) the algorithm is failing you, my friend, I hope you get the boost you deserve one of these days
Mario Party 3 always holds a special place in my heart. This is the game where Princess Daisy became a playable character, and she has been my main in any Mario game ever since
With regards to Duel Mode: I get there's a lot you need to know (like the stats and such of partners) but the moment you know what they can all do I feel that it can really be fun...it's like the later Star Steal mechanic type of board but with a bit more complexity and uses Mario species as partners which is IMO great if you are a Mario RPG fan like me.
I remember the first time I played Mario Party 3 was at a hotel back when they had those Lodgenet machines with N64 controllers. That was the thing that made me want an N64 for myself way back when since I only had a Gamecube and Wii at the time and was starting to get more interested in retro gaming. And so on I believe it was my 10th or 11th birthday, I got my own N64 with Mario Party 3 and a bunch of other games and cherished all of them. With the original Mario Party trilogy, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., Pokémon Stadium, Cruis'n USA, and many other games, the N64 quickly became one of my favorite consoles for retro gaming. On the topic of Mario Party 3 itself, while it's not my favorite in the series, I'd argue it was the most well rounded one and definitely the best of the N64 games. There weren't any bizarre gimmicks to mess up the formula. It was as pure of a Mario Party experience you could get. While the boards weren't as good as 2's was, there were still some really solid ones with my personal favorite being Woody Woods. I love its cozy atmosphere, and the arrow flipping gimmick creates an interesting dynamic when it comes to movement. Plus, the music is my favorite out of any board from the entire series. It's a little sad that Superstars only brought back ONE MP3 board, but if we HAD to pick one, I'm not gonna argue with Woody Woods. As for my favorite minigame, I agree on Eatsa Pizza. Not only is the concept of eating a giant pizza great on its own since it gives into one of our many simple pleasures as man, but the weird movement makes it a good challenge to try and eat the whole thing. This was also the first entry to have a story mode, and while it's nothing special, I appreciate that there were more single player oriented options beyond just minigame campaigns. And on top of that, they finally ditched the weird voices for Luigi, Peach, and Wario, and gave them the voices we know and love today. Yoshi was still in his weird phase, though. If you ask me, this is about as good of a core Mario Party experience you could get.
Man, you got a great collection of games to start out with on the N64 haha. I agree with what you said here for sure. I really wish Superstars would have brought back at least one other board from this game. If Chilly Waters got remade without the luck-based slopes, I would have been really happy, although Woody Woods was a great choice. Eatsa Pizza is an excellent choice for a favorite minigame too. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it!
I saw a Let's play of this game like 6 years ago and to this day I can remember the soundtrack very well. It's kinda nostalgic as if I played it when I was a child :D
Not popular at first but among the Mario Party fans it's a cult classic now-a-days, easily in most peoples top 3 (hah). Certainly is for me with the amount of new content and good games and fun wacky shenanigans.
I dont agree that you get stuck on creepy cavern for 3 reasons The item shops are by the skeleton gates. The happening spaces You can pay to ride the train.
The Beat Goes On was literally my favourite minigame as a kid 😭 My friends and I would play it over and over again and it was always so intense. The music, atmosphere, and lack of music adding to the suspense of each turn, had us all on the edge of our seats. The shy guys burning whoever messes up was great too. Also its funny that the fact that it goes on too long is actually another reason why I loved it
I can't wait for the Mario Party 7 character items tier list lool Mario Party 3 is a game we played a lot in my childhood but we lost the cart somehow 😭 but my best memories are playing Chilly Waters and jumping over the snowballs. I think Snowball Summit is my favorite minigame, I love it alot in Superstars
ahh man that’s such a bummer!! Yeah Chilly Waters is great and Snowball Summit is a really fun minigame. I’m so happy they brought it back in Superstars, it’s always a minigame that brings some great laughs lol. Thanks for watching!
I'm a little late to the party 👀, but I also have some of my best Mario Party memories with MP3. The inclusion of two legendary new characters, the awesome minigames, and personally, yeah, duel mode was a mess ... but a fun one. Added so much personality and individuality to the characters by giving them their own partners at the start. Overall, it's one of my ultimate favorite Mario Party's alongside Mario Party 7.
I’m *really* late too but I love 3 probably the most. 4 is definitely up there too, it’s crazy how much I’ve played both of those along with 5. I liked 7 as a kid, but I never got into it as I used to whenever I play it again.
MP3 has always been the one I know the least about, and wow that duel mode is a LOT to take in for my first time learning about it! Still, having such a robust and fully realized game mode outside of the normal party mode is kinda crazy. Almost like it was a prototype for a whole other game, but I know that's not the case.
It was interesting hearing someone's thoughts on all the mini games because there were ones that were hated that I love and vice versa. I also feel this video was a little harsh on duel mode. I loved duel mode as a kid. Now that I'm older I find it a little easy but I still really like it.
@@marksrecroom Are you also going to do retrospectives of Mario Party 8, DS, Super Mario Party, and Superstars? It would be truly awesome if you’re able to do retrospectives on those titles as well!
Im not actually complaining, as you did rank mp3 right under mp6, but i am shocked that you disliked or felt meh about as many mp3 boards as you did, as i feel i can genuinely enjoy myself playing mp3 no matter what board is chosen. Also, i hate sand themes, but spiny desert is soooo good, so that one was particularly shocking. Either way, just something i noticed that me and many friends of mine seem to have an opposing stance about.
3:13 bro this mini game is from MP2, you made me freak out and think I missed a hidden mini game or something after playing this game for over 20 years lol
One of my two favorite Mario Parties: Great boards, great mini games, best items. You probably could've recorded your reasoning for the duel-mode tier lists and put a time code to skip it, then again, me and my bud were seemingly the only people who loved this mode lol. We played it regularly for years. Always rocked Luigi; his low cost, two power Goomba is the best partner IMO for early eliminations. 3 hit kills and really cheap to pay for. That being said, I feel your tier list mainly reflects early game. Late game, Piranha Plant's high stats make him the ultimate forward muscle. And Whomp and Thwomp's high defense stats make them nigh-impenetrable walls if you put them in back. EDIT: then again, thinking about it, all our strategies were conceived as dumb 10-year-old boys, so maybe they're worthless lmao. Haven't actually played against a person in years.
Mario party 3 is my favorite minigame, i love the minigames, boards and the story mode. Daisy and Waluigi debut are so good too but if i have to change one thing, ill change the battle minigames: Now the battle minigames are free for all minigames and old minigames (from MP1 And MP2) comeback, the games are: 1)Mushroom Mix-Up 2)Bombs Away 3)Bumper Balls 4)Scateboard Scamper 5)Bowser Big Blast 6)Toad in the box 7)Abandon Ship 8)Hot Bob-omb
I'm so glad I found and binged this series, Mario Party is my favorite Nintendo series and 3 has always been my favorite. You're right on the money, its complexity can be daunting but it is ridiculously fun with the right group of friends. Almost every Mario Party session I have nowadays is playing custom boards for this game from PartyPlanner64 with my buddies, from ports of later games' maps to entirely custom ones. I heavily recommend it, especially since like you said, there's a lot of annoying gimmicks in the base boards. I actually enjoy the Duel mode, but you're EXTREMELY right about how there shouldn't be character tierlists in Mario Party. I hate how 7 and Super do the same thing. I really enjoyed this video, and I'm curious to see your opinions on the rest of the series.
Still the best game in the series for me. It's got alot of quality of life improvements but is still that brutal game that the n64 games are known for.
Agreed, the boards on 2 are too much thematic (pirates, cowboys, archeologists) amd the mp3 boards are more expensive (Like, we have a lake on center who can break if 2 players stand in, and a big snowball who can change the players position)
Avoid game guy if you really want to? How? Also by the time Mario party 3 released in Japan, the PlayStation 2 was close to it's first japanese anniversary and the Dreamcast was still going. Sheesh europe getting it after the GameCube launch, almost a year after the Japanese release. It's like how 6's sales potential was damaged by having a December north American release, missing the black friday season.
Thanks for watching! What's your favorite Mario Party 3 minigame?
Snowball Summit. Never played Eatsa Pizza, but I’m sure I’d love it.
Vine With Me is one of the best in the series.
Locked Out
I rlly like locked out too lol
rockin raceway is Hella underrated imo
3 and 6 are tied as my two favorite mario party games of all time. 3 in particular deserves more love
You have good taste

im thankful for Waluigi being a main player in the spinn offs thanks to his reaperance here

This was actually one of my favorite boards. Interesting on the different take here

I loved Mario Party 3 so much because of Waluigi! He was so mysterious! My all time favorite Mario-Character ❤ Sadly Nintendo hates him.
It was interesting hearing someone's thoughts on all the mini games because there were ones that were hated that I love and vice versa.
I also feel this video was a little harsh on duel mode. I loved duel mode as a kid. Now that I'm older I find it a little easy but I still really like it.
You have no idea how many times I’ve been utterly screwed over in this game.
8:09 look at peach's coin count
I like dual mode but omg when you listen to the rules it goes on for like 20 mins
12:17 we agree on the best board here too! 5 in a row from 3-7!
This deserves more views, what a great comprehensive look at MP3
Thanks so much!! I really appreciate that - I definitely have more videos in this style coming soon so I hope you enjoy them!

my MP3 duel main is usually peach! nice to know im making a good choice
Scared for when he reviews super mario party if he hates mario party teir lists😅
Top 6 Boards:
6. Creepy Cavern
5. Snowflake Lake
4. Deep Bloober Sea
3. Spiny Desert
2. Woody Woods
1. Waluigi's Island
Snowflake lake is in mp6. Or did you mean your top 6 boards ever in Mario party, and 5 of them happen to be in mp3?
Mario party 3 is an underrated gem a diamond if you will.
LMFAO i laughed out loud at “river raiders is another reaganomics mini game”
Spiny desert is great and not leave a lot to be desired also creepy cavern is one of the best boards in mp3
Ikr those are my two favourite maps in 3
The best Marioparty. And items haven’t been as good since
My Mans gave Snowball Summit an 8 when that game is almost always a draw huh¿ Also Eatsa Pizza is a ten hmmmmmmmmm
I play Wario in Super Duel Mode and I think Bob-Omb is a pretty ok opener but I'd prefer to start with Koopa or Goombam
My 2nd favorite Mario Party game.
One of my two favorite Mario Parties: Great boards, great mini games, best items.

Another incredible video! Can’t wait to watch more! 😄
thanks a bunch!!
This is the one I had, and my brother and I really enjoyed it. I found the battle mode very intriguing.
Mario party 3 is my favorite minigame, i love the minigames, boards and the story mode. Daisy and Waluigi debut are so good too but if i have to change one thing, ill change the battle minigames:
Now the battle minigames are free for all minigames and old minigames (from MP1 And MP2) comeback, the games are:
1)Mushroom Mix-Up
2)Bombs Away
3)Bumper Balls
4)Scateboard Scamper
5)Bowser Big Blast
6)Toad in the box
7)Abandon Ship
8)Hot Bob-omb
Still waiting for this to release on the expansion pack...I just wanna play through the story mode.
First Mario party I played in fell in love
I think the beat goes on is one of the best mini games in this game 😹

Spot light swim is not terrible it’s great i dont know where you got that from
Still the best game in the series for me. It's got alot of quality of life improvements but is still that brutal game that the n64 games are known for.
8/10 video
MPIQ Is fun
Just mashing and guessing is hilarious
Hot take: Every Mario party 3 boards is better than every Mario part 2 board except horror and bowser land

It's really too bad they didn't change the static board designs until 4

When you say "diamond in the rough" you say it like the other Mario Party games are bad
I am the Princess! ❤❤
piracy is no party 🎩
Apologize to locked-out now
the one player mode felt like torture to me. Mario part 1 is goat to me.
Hot take: I don't like this game because of the boo repellent and reverse mushroom.
how does this guy enjoy mario puzzle party 💀
The slipping on the ice in chilly waters and the sand pits in spiny desert do not hurt the people it’s just people overreacting.
Board not people
