Goomba Lagoon has a good gimmick, but it is not good execution. The tides block way too much, not that it should be removed. Being stuck on a small island for 3 turns should not happen except for the volcano island, and that ones just a circle again. I would love to see a 2-3 space shark event that you can land on get to the pirate ship on high tide here, considering custom dice is sold. Every island should have options not just a 6 space circle, Adding a blooper shop for warp items, etc.
My favorite: A shark event space on volcano and lucky island that replaces the zip lines which already make you pay. It would be so cool like the Dolphin in MP8.
Zipline is not in good spot. They are 1 SPACE and you need to pay anyway so why not make it a passing event? while almost every other event space is 2 or 3 in the game, Instead of paying coins and for how much footage was shown ziplining, i don't see anyone use the one at the start. All it does is leave you stranded?! The other Zipline is good tho because it leads to kamek shop. just wish it costed coins and all the spaces were item spaces instead.
    -
Warp Items are the way to get around it, but it may lead to another island or a worse spot and there's no way to get it on the islands. I love the amount of options you could go on low tide, but it feels like high tide is on half the game. It reminds me of the island from Mario Party 9 where you had to land on 1 event space, except theres no event space.
    -
Another issue: Golden Pipes and the fact that you can loop 2 islands that sell it. The Volcano has golden goombas and there's ton of lucky spaces that buying is no issue most of the time. Especially on Homestretch, double coins for everyone; farm golden pipes board.

    • @Nintenguin
      @Nintenguin Місяць тому +11

I agree. Great in concept, but poor in execution. It would be better if there was a way to pay coins to ride on the zip line to cross islands rather than landing on an event space. Speaking of, almost every event space just changes the tide which constantly gets in the way.

I personally like goomba lagoon (and the rest of my family hates it), but I think something that removes some of the strategy is the fact that you have to land on them instead of being something you can pass and decide instead (maybe it could've worked like the thwomps in Yoshi's Tropical Island did)

@@luigigreen_ Some fixes I would make would be 1.) Make it so that you can swim through the water but maybe it takes 2 numbers to move 1 space or something. 2.) The real worst board is wiggler but I’d argue it’s more of a least good because they’re all fun and I never thought I’d be able to say that about Mario party again. If I were to rank them it be:

Yeah Wiggler is pretty "generic" and it's gimmick is very simple, it might as well not have one to be honest. but Goomba's is really a sour first impression sadly.... easily the worst because when you get stuck, you're a sitting duck for 3 turns and most of the isolated islands don't even have an item shop that lets you get items to move elsewhere. I did a match with the CPUs and ended up losing because of just sheer RNG, Mario for some reason got MEGA lucky with his rolls and everything to JUST make up enough stars to win and there was NOTHING I could do about it cause I was never near items to turn the game around.

Mario Party 8's worst board is 100% Bowsers Warped Orbit, even considering any other board is completely nuts

    • @kiwikarp9509
      @kiwikarp9509 Місяць тому +14

Bowser's Warped Orbit is definitely the weakest star-stealing board, but at least it has some strategy with the candies. Every round you have to consider if it's better to play it safe with the Bullet Bill candy(3 dice blocks, steals one star), or use the riskier Bowser candy(2 dice blocks, steal 2 stars). Doesn't sound like a lot, but when everyone has access to those tools and there are semi-safe zones that don't guarantee you'll hit someone you targeted, it can actually make a difference.
I don't know if there's any strategy on King Boo's Haunted Hideaway. It always felt too luck-based, which is why it's the board I remember liking the least.

    • @MarioMastar
      @MarioMastar Місяць тому +5

@@kiwikarp9509 Yeah like Banzai Bill's mountain, it's a cool mechanic that has a bad execution, I think King Boo's Haunted hideaway would be really good and unique if they made it like how it is in Solo mode. where king boo is hiding in 3 rooms and the mansion only resets when you find ALL three rooms where King Boo is hidden, instead of just being a race to be lucky enough to find him first which just makes the board pure RNG or all about spamming triple dice to just move fast (which Goombas Booty Board walk already does but WAY better). However that said.... I do agree Bowser's Warped Orbit is worse cause while Hideaway is RNG, it's still fun with friends as you embrace the luck and try to strategize around getting around the mysterious layout with the options you have, Warped Orbit is kind of a game of "last man standing" as if you use a Bowser suit to trample someone for 2 stars, the person can just revenge you with one, or same with a bullet Bill. Thus you're kind of just trading stars all board until it ends. At least Snowflake lake and Pyramid Park did have areas where you would be safe but couldn't steal stars, and some risk/reward on the player's part in choosing when to go to the chain chomp and how many blocks you wanted (in Day time, you only get 1 block for 20 coins and have access to the center, but at night, you have access to up to 3 blocks for 10 coins each and the center is blocked, increasing the odds of catching people, and they CAN'T just revenge you. In Pyramid Park, the chainchomps let you pay for up to 3 blocks for 10 coins each on the right side, but the left side has the red chomp that gives you 3 blocks for 10 coins, but is kind of isolated and takes effort to get to him. So you have to be good at map reading and prediction to know when to go for the lucrative red chomp and can even use the chomps to escape players by having more rolls). Warped Orbit.....is mostly linear with RNG based junctions.... and the star stealing is done with items so there's no strategy. Just move based on where everyone else is or bait them to hitting you first, then snipe them back.

bro goomba lagoon to me is actually one of the best boards in jamboree. it makes u have to strategize with ur items more than any other board to align with the tides. if u get stuck but managed ur items well, warp pipes bail u out, custom dice blocks make u land on the zipline space, mirrors trap ur opponent on the island instead of u, etc. and if we know the high tide is coming, we can take the long route instead of risking being stranded there in the first place. its all pure strategy and a lot of people, including myself, love that. its certainly more fun to me than roll em raceway which is literally a circle with 2 sets of branching paths on the top and bottom. and its special item, the turbo dice, is fun but inherently flawed since it skips over all shops and even the star space. all while the triple dice is right there in the same shop but without said disadvantages.

    • @MarioMastar
      @MarioMastar Місяць тому +3

The problem is GETTING The items in the first place.... If you can't GET the items, you can't "Strategize around your item usage". and many parts of the map don't have access to an item shop UNLESS you have previously crossed water or land on an item space. Yes it's pure strategy, but theorycrafting the stage vs actually PLAYING it.... I played it and you can't just "lol get items!" Plus we shouldn't HAVE to use items just to PLAY THE FREAKING BOARD....items should supplement our strategy, NOT be a requirement to even move around, let alone get the star...or to the other sections of the board.

    • @yuvia1452
      @yuvia1452 Місяць тому +3

@MarioMastar i mean, to each their own, but personally i dont see it as that drastic. theres a shop accessible on turn 1 with a pipe. and this game already showers u with coins constantly and allies double everything including buying 2 items at once. not to mention u can just buy conch shells to free yourself or trap someone else to ur advantage. worst case scenario, u are itemless and trapped on a island for 2 turns, big whoop. ive seen more severe trapping in mp4. but again, to each their own since i can understand that already being enough to make u dislike it.

Not saying the game overall is bad and if it's still your favorite I respect your opinion... Snowflake Lake actually has a different event in the middle part at night. Instead of iceskating it's a snowball fight where you can steal other player's coins. Also, the the Freezies are kind of a big deal because they cut off most paths of escape/protect you if you made it past one in time. Plus, Chain Chomps have better rolls at night. AND there's a lot more duel spaces in the middle circle. Finally, the snowy landscape is just ****ing beautiful at night (best looking of all 12 board variations imo) So yeah, it actually gets a lot of mileage out of day/night (not as much as Faire Square and Clockwork Castle, but third place ain't bad)

Jamboree's new boards all try something different. Raceway is all about minigame skill. You need cash to buy items to rush the loops to get more cash for more items, but it also lets slower and less lucky players compete as well through stalling and taking the roads less traveled. Lagoon is about the environment, planning where to go much more carefully lest you get stuck where you'd rather not be. On the other hand, there's advantages to being alone on an island or trapping your opponents where they can't leave and it really does feel like you're competing for the bonus stars more in it. Galleria is all about items, and it rewards and encourages very tactical usage, its very fair to all players. And Bowser's fortress is a nightmare with all those Bowser spaces filling up the centre of the board, while guaranteeing the players have to traverse it by warping back to the start. Matches there are slow infuriating grinds where you really are at the mercy of Mario Party entirely and its anyone's game for the vast majority of matches.
Wiggler's map is the least interesting. It's the most generic Mario Party map, perfect for new players and getting that classic experience. But it has nothing new to offer. The gimmick is fairly mundane and there's almost no way the map punishes players. It has its charm, but compared to all the other new boards I find it the least compelling overall.

I agree. All of MP4 boards have this issue of bridges forcing players to take different directions, even toad's board has this issue with the teacups, and this system really ruins the flow of the game. I have one very big problem with jamboree… (or maybe more but one really big one):
You just get tooooooooooo many coins… which is technically fine but you get them by doing nothing… literally nothing… things that cause this are lucky spaces and the cheap items… they could just make the items more expensive like skeleton key 5 coins, golden pipe 30 coins, etc. and make custom settings like lucky spaces on or off and jamboree on or off… another problem I have is that it‘s supposed to be the largest mario party in history but literally has the least minigames in party mode… they could just reuse 10 or 20 more but NO, every time I play a party the same minigames show up… lastly I feel like boards should have around 80 or 90 spaces, so I would appreciate if the boards would be a little bit bigger but that‘s not as important as custom settings for lucky spaces
I guess I just miss the old times (Mario party 2 to 8)

Great vid Thomas. Huge Mario Party fan and it’s great to see the other entries get some love. I agree with a lot of your picks tbh lol. Yeah 6 has the best boards.
I see some of your favorites are where the star location doesn’t move which is a hit or miss for me depending on the game. Don’t know if this is a hot take but I think all of superstars boards suck, jamboree is such a huge improvement.
Mario’s rainbow caste imo is a worse version of 6s Castaway Bay. Where Bowser steals stars instead of all your coins. Love the tropical vibe over just clouds.
Surprised you picked Goombas board from Mario party 4 as your favorite when it’s basically an island hopping board. And you mentioned your disdain. The Goomba dice roll is to RNG for me and makes getting stars annoying. I think both Goomba and Koopas board suck. I think the best one is either toads or shy guys.
I agree Mario Party 5 boards are all kind of MID. I’d say Toy Dream is the best and the rest each have their own issues.
For Mario Party 7 surprised you didn’t pick Windmillville since it has the same mechanics of Koopa Tycoon. But I agree with your picks.
Mario party 8 my favorite is the Shy Guy board. A train being a board is sick. Not a fan of the Pirate Goomba board cause it gets repetitive.
Mario party Ds kamek is similar to Neon heights in 7 so I can’t say I hate it. I think the DK one is worse imo.
Mario Party Star Rush deserves to be forgotten lmao. But if I had to pick probably the boo maps were the best idk.

There's a lot of potential for some cool strategy and choice on the player, and Goomba's Booty Boardwalk is one of my favoriteboards in the game because you mostly spend coins to move as fast as possible and like Rainbow Galleria, I LOVE boards that encourage you to use coins for things other than stars and the best items you can get.

my take as someone who’s played 100s of hours of this series
    MP1:
BEST: Wario’s Battle Canyon (all ironic enjoyment, it’s so fuckin funny)
WORST: Bowsers Magma Mountain (honestly any mp1 board could go here, they’re ASS)
    MP2
BEST: Horror Land (honorable mention to Western Land, it’s just too big)
WORST: Pirate Land (a linear path that constantly sends you back to the start, it sucks ass ! mystery land is somehow better)
    MP3
BEST: Deep Bloober Sea (honestly most mp3 boards come pretty close, this game’s lineup is fantastic)
WORST: Creepy Cavern (the only bad board in the game, just feels so little agency tbh)
    MP4
BEST: Shy Guy’s Jungle Jam (very simple but honestly incredibly enjoyable as a result imo, love the theming too)
WORST: Bowser’s Gnarly Party (feels like it was specifically designed to be impossible to navigate, terrible, one of the all time worst)
    MP5
BEST: Pirate Dream (love the theming, love the aesthetic, just a really solid board, if a bit too linear)
WORST: Rainbow Dream (honestly this or future dream could both go here, they’re basically the same map)
    MP6
BEST: E Gadd’s Garage (favorite map in the series, so much fun and so many plays to make)
WORST: Clockwork Castle (not bad just a gimmick im not a huge fan of tbh)
    MP7
BEST: Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno (the best bowser board and one of the best ever, allows for such high scoring games that it’s always a blast)
WORST: Pyramid Park (my personal least favorite real mp board, literally have never had anything but a miserable time on here)
    MP8
BEST: Koopa’s Tycoon Town (I mean come on)
WORST: Bowser’s Warped Orbit (honestly just fuck the steal stars mechanic it’s so poorly done in everything but snowflake lake, might be the worst board in the franchise)
    MP9
BEST: They all suck but Magma Mine
WORST: Boo’s Horror Castle (you just get trapped at the top for hours and can never leave, awful)
    MP10
BEST: idk fuckin like Haunted Trail or Whimsical Waters, they’re all bad LOL
WORST: Chaos Castle (a solid layout that just doesn’t matter because of the atrocious final stretch)
    SMP
BEST: King Bob Omb (feels like the most classic board but still pretty bad tbh)
WORST: Whomp’s Domino Ruins (probably the most nothing board in all of mario party)
    SMPJ
BEST: Western Land (they recreated this map to perfection and even improved it SO MUCH, jamboree’s mechanics do wonders for this board alongside the new train tickets that are so fun for griefing)
WORST: King Bowser’s Keep (dude I fucking love not being able to access the middle because it’s all bowser spaces that’s so cool)

Hehe I actually agree with most of your list! There are a few things I personally find different:
MP3: I kind of put Waluigi's Island over Deep Blooper Sea, but mostly cause of how punishing having the Blooper mom take you to the other side can be.
MP4: Worst is Koopa's Seaside Soiree, at least Bowser boards are DESIGNED to screw you over each turn, but the Koopa Cabana taking 5 coins from each player and the pay off is whoever lands on the ? space just loses ALL the coins invested is a far worse Koopa bank. AND the random bananas make things worse. NOTHING positive about that board.
MP7: Windmillville is the worst in my opinion. Bowser time completely ruins that board by having him smash a random Windmill which just feels like punishing you for playing the game. No other stage has Bowser time screw the players over that bad, as terrible as the mechanic of being forced to lose 20 coins every 5 turns unavoidably is, that one is the only stage mechanic that takes away a star or 3 randomly and there's nothing you can do but get back there and re-invest.
The rest I either agree with or haven't played. Hehe very solid list! (honestly Mario Party 1 can go either way. EVERY board has something glaringly wrong with it but Wario's Battle Canyon DOES have the flyguy which is the closet thing to a strategic element in the whole game since you can pay to send anyone (including yourself) to the Bowser island in the center and it's full of 1p minigames and occasionally Toad. THAT is excellent Risk/Reward play. It WOULD be Luigi's Engine room IF it wasn't for the worst placed Boo in the entire series.... the end game is literally just everyone stealing stars cause you're forced to run into Boo. DK's jungle adventure is also a solid board past the first turn with the player going first getting a massive advantage with the whomp, but after that it's a solid board. and between Magma Mountain (designed to be punishing but has SOME semblence of choice) and Peach's Birthday Cake ( the lottery + linear board, but I like the strawberry mechanic that somehow Superstars RUINED....) eh.... I'll just agree with your choices. XD

I had zero stars while all my friends had 10. Part of the reason for this is nighttime kept making stars cost 5. It was nighttime, and before this, two of my friends had landed on this space and went straight to the star.
So here I am, landing on the same space. And it proceeds to carry me right up to the star! Wait. It isn’t stopping. It placed me on the space exactly after the star.

17:10 Alright I have a lot to say here, so if you don't like long comments or Mario Party 5, I would keep scrolling.
Let's start off with him saying the boards feel the same. I am a certified Mario Party stan, however I usually tend to only play 1, 2, or at most 3 maps (with two exceptions) of a Mario Party because I don't enjoy the rest. Let's go down the list of the first 7 Mario Parties because I didn't really play past that.
Mario Party 1- Only Eternal star. The music plus how you get stars and the teleporters says it all here. (maybe Mario's rainbow castle if I want to change it up)
Mario Party 2- Horror Land, Space Land (Maybe Western land but not really)
Mario Party 3- The first exception and the best Mario Party. I could easily play all of the maps but Woody Woods and Waluigi's Island take the cake.
Mario Party 4- Didn't play the game a whole bunch but when I did it was Toad's Midway.
Mario Party 6- Clockwork Castle was the only map that called to me with it's very fun and replayable DK/Bowser mechanic.
Mario Party 7- Neon Heights and Pagonda Peak, both had banger music.
Mario Party 5- All of the maps are extremely fun, except maybe sweet dream as I hate the bridge mechanic and the music is a little weak.
Rainbow dream makes you pay for bridges with each island having a cool happening space or two *shudders at the top island.*
Future dream absurdly benefits from capsules as there aren't many junctions which keeps it from being too linear.
Underwater dream benefits from having fun junctions and a small loop in which you can keep getting capsules, and slightly recreate a fun capsule farm I discuss later...
Toy dream is a fast paced map in which stars spawn right in front of the player, and all happening spaces move you somewhere.
Pirate Dream is the best looking map with the best music. I love the personality that Thwomp and Whomp bring as well as the fact that it feels like a multi-story building. This is my most played map but it is only second in my eyes.
Bowser's Nightmare is the actual best. It feels so huge that you don't get the feeling that the star keeps spawning in front of someone and screwing you (opposite of Toy dream which sometimes is fun). It is always a mad dash for it and capsule usage is really important to make up ground or stop someone else. Also Bowser can show up for his walks if you hit the happening space, and the fact that it takes so long makes me think Bowser is personally trolling me.
Oh but then there is the GOAT happening space that traps you in the red space circle of doom. This can lead to the most disgusting Mario Party shenanigans ever if you bring a chain chomp, warp pipe, wiggler, or chance capsule in there. Since you only have I think a 2/8 or 1/4 chance to escape (Not always accurate depending on where you're standing) you could be there a while or possibly the entire game. The space count means any capsule thrown goes from a 1/10 chance of being landed on to a 1/8 or at best a 1/5 chance! And that is only if you only bring one capsule in there with you. If you managed to get 3 of the aforementioned capsules in all at one, you can have up to a 1/2 chance of landing on one! That and there is always a chance (quite high from my experience) that bowser's last 5 turns could turn all spaces into capsule events. With 6 spaces to choose from there is a good chance at least one of those spaces could change the game in your favor.
In the end MP5's maps are all fantastic, except you sweet dream. Have I thought about this too much? Yes. Have I played WAY too much MP5? Also yes. If you read this far you must either love Mario Party or were just curious. Either way, thanks!

Mario Party 1: I think I hate Eternal Star more than Wario's Battle Canyon because of having to risk coins for the chance to get a star, though I was absolutely blown away the first time I played it due to how creative it was. My favorite was Yoshi's Tropical Island because of the fun of choosing when to artificially increase the price of the bridge crossing to screw over other players. I didn't like Mario's Rainbow Castle much because there are multiple junctions where the two paths have almost the same length, so it's just "the illusion of choice". And Peach's Birthday Cake would've worked better if items existed, but a straight path doesn't work well in an itemless game.
Mario Party 2: I wholly agree on Mystery Land, but I'd consider Western Land more par for the course. My favorite was Horror Land. I also loved Bowser Land, but it loses points because the Duel minigame for that board is a rock-paper-scissors game.
Mario Party 3: I agree on Deep Bloober Sea. My favorite, though, is almost certainly Creepy Cavern.
Mario Party 4: I agree on Koopa's Seaside Soiree because of the banana peels, but I'm honestly fine with the cabana. Just use a Mega Mushroom to bypass the payment. It's a pretty neat use of the mini-mega system. My favorite is Boo's Haunted Bash (despite a few design flaws) because its gimmicks, music, and musical themes are amazing. I do like Goomba's Greedy Gala as well, but much like with Mystery Land, I've had way too many games where everyone gets locked on the left half of the board because there are no shops there, and they keep winning against the Goomba despite wanting to lose so they can go back to start.
Mario Party 5: I think Pirate Dream is definitely above average and possibly the best board in that game. But the worst, in my opinion, is probably Undersea Dream. Undersea Dream is just so bland, even by MP5 standards. I think Future Dream is pretty average.
Mario Party 6: I think I like every board in this game, but my favorite is probably E. Gadd's Garage. The day-night changes are simple, yet effective. Teleporters and junctions make it easy to traverse the board (more so in day than night because the night layout largely divides the interior of the board into two loops). And the probabilities of cool orbs (like the Zap orb) are high on this board. Faire Square is my least favorite, simply because there's almost no reason to ever go to the right half of the board. But as I said, MP6 has no bad boards, including Faire Square. Just less-good boards. And I actually love Snowflake Lake, but nighttime makes the chomps op, and I don't like how it cuts off the center while introducing a banger on-board minigame (the snowball fight) in the center of the board. Why make your cool minigame so hard to access?

I have to say that I am a huge Mario Party Fan since I was playing Mario Party 8 on my Wii, for me every Mario Party Game has good and bad aspects like good or bad boards aswell. But for me the older Mario Party Games before Mario Party 9 are way more nostalgic and more fun to play with friends. Anyways still a pretty good video 👍

Yes, Kamek's library in DS does have a pretty bad layout and the rng is shit, but golden pipes always take you to the right star. And due to the busted economy, and able to buy multiple items in DS, then you can just abuse the system and always gets stars. That's how I've done it but only specifically to Kamek's Library.

have you considered that getting stuck on that tiny island in goomba lagoon for a turn or 2 max is extremely funny? it's also all lucky spaces so it's not like the turns are completely wasted, plus there's so many warp items there's a good chance you'll have one or get one from the lucky space.
one time i got stuck on it and used a triple dice and got like 26 so i could go around a bunch of times and it we all thought it was really funny. if you're not taking the game super seriously i don't see a problem, nor do i think it's much different from the usual bs that happens in these games that makes them interesting

Goomba Lagoon could have been designed better, surely having less small islands where you go in circles could have helped. I would be lying if I said it isn’t kinda funny to go around in circles like a dog chasing its butt and I’d still say Mario’s Rainbow Castle is my least favourite board in the game. I’m glad that everyone can agree though that most of the other boards are fantastic and that Rainbow Galleria is easily the best one and an all time classic in the series. Also yeah f the first Super Mario Party.

I would not put Mario’s rainbow castle at #1 for Mario Party 1. The problem is that its almost a straight line board that you have to plan out when you will get to the star…. With no item system so it is almost completely luck. Btw only 1 of the stall routs are actually substantial and the other is just 2 spaces longer.

My take as someone who has played almost all of the MPs extensively.
    MP1:
    BEST: Birthday Cake.
WORST: Wario Battle Canyon. Lets be real all of the boards in this game suck and the old mechanics of MP1 really exemplify this notion.
    MP2:
BEST: Horror Land. This board created the unique day/night cycle that MP6 would later implement. Its such a great concept and this board does it very well.
WORST: Mystery Land. Honorable mention to Pirate Land but both of these boards just suck the player agency and choice out of the equation. Not terrible but certainly can be not fun at times.
    MP3:
BEST: Chilly Waters. The item play works the best on this board and how the game plays out on this board is just really solid everytime. Not too gimmicky but not too basic either.
WORST: Spiny Desert. If it wasn't for the mirage Star this board wouldn't be so bad but I hate this kind of mechanic where you don't know exactly where the Star is and you just have to guess at it and get lucky. Really takes away a lot from overall strategy from the game.
    MP4:
BEST: Goomba's Greedy Gala. One of my favorite boards in the entire series. I LOVE the way the island hopping mechanics were implemented on this one specifically and really nails the gambling aspect down. In a game with weak board selections this one really stands out on its own.
WORST: Bowser's Gnarly Party. The worst Bowser Board ever and its mainly due to the forced luck based pathing that basically amounts to, roll the worst and get stuck in one area for the entire game while everyone else gets to play on the rest of the board. Toad's Midway does this too but not as bad.
    MP5:
BEST: Toy Dream. This game also has a weak board selection imo. All the boards just kind of feel lifeless imo and aren't very interesting. Toy Dream just kind of is the best of the mid here. It just does everything in a non-offensive way and provides a fair game for all.
WORST: Sweet Dream. This board has the same problem that Bowser's Gnarly Party and Toad's Midway Madness has and it just forces you to go a certain way without anyway to combat that. I will say it has a really cool Happening Space at the top of the board but thats about it.
    MP6:
BEST: Faire Square. Easily the best board roster of any Mario Party Game and probably the best board in the series. It's hard to explain but games on this board get INTENSE. The mechanics were really good, the day/night shakeup is extremely fun and no part of the board feels useless and dead. It's all great.
WORST: Snowflake Lake. It's not a bad board by any means. MP6 does not have those. It's just something has to be the worst is all. I'm not the biggest fan of Chain Chomp boards like this but the gameplay is still peak here and makes for pretty good games.
    MP7
BEST: Pagoda Peak. Probably my second favorite board in all of Mario Party. It just does the linear mechanic the best and has an amazing theme, music, and overall design. Even though it is one of the smaller boards in the series, it actually works out really well here as strange as that is.
WORST: Windmillville. It's not a bad board just not very well designed imo. The mechanic here is great but the forced pathing is a huge hindrance in the overall likeability of this board. It's too much RNG in a board about strategic investment. Also Bowser Time kills a lot of the fun of this board as well.
    MP8-9
I have never played these so I won't speak on them
    MP10:
BEST: Whimsical Waters. If I had to choose I guess this one I liked the most. Car Mechanics suck.
    WORST: Chaos Castle.
    SMP:
BEST: Whomp's Domino Ruins. This game sucks balls and this map isn't all that great but at least it just isn't a cluster mess like all the other boards. I like Whomp mechanics and the layout is fine. If it was bigger it probably would have been pretty good which is a problem this game's biggest downfall overall
WORST: Kamek's Tantalizing Towers. If you don't get allies and/or choose the best character dice you will lose. It's a linear board that only rewards high rollers because of how busted this game's economy is. Seriously not fun at all.
    Superstars:
BEST: Woody Woods. Something I don't like about this video is the fact that you skipped over this game when it clearly tweaked the retro boards and updated the mechanics meaning there is a significant difference in how these boards play out than their original counterparts. That being said I think it's between Woody Woods and Horror Land. Both of these boards got impressive glow-ups and are by far the best Superstars Boards.
WORST: Peach's Birthday Cake. It's just really bland and didn't really feel much different than the original experience. To me this board just feels lifeless and not really engaging at all.
SMPJ: Haven't played it but I've seen enough gameplay to know which ones I will enjoy the most
BEST: Western Land. It's between this and the Mall but I think both of these are really good boards and work amazing with the mechanics of this game.
WORST: Mario's Rainbow Castle. This was up there in og game for my least favorite board and was sad when it was announced. Linear Boards are usually not very good and I just did not like the way this one was handled at all. Maybe my opinion will change when I get my hands on SMPJ but I don't have high hopes for this.

I've only played the first 3 MP games on the N64, so I'll only comment on them.
    - IMO, Woody woods was the worst board because of the constant changing arrows, similar to Luigi's engine board in the original but worse. The 2 best boards: This is a no-brainer; Spiny Desert and Waluigi's island, and it's not even close.
    - I definitely agree with you on Mystery Land being the worst MP2 board, but I would put Western Land as tie for the 2nd worst alongside Pirate Land. The other 3 are a blast, and I'd rank from best to worst Bowser Land, Space Land, and then horror land.
    - I personally enjoy Wario's Battle canyon mainly BECAUSE of the movement. You're not just walking around like you are on most of the other boards. In fact, I'd consider it my 2nd favorite.
Mario's castle would be the 2nd WORST (worst being Peach's 🎂, I absolutely DESPISE that board). Mario's castle is too boring, and Peach's board is too luck based.
As far as favorite board, that's easy: Eternal Star, hands down.

Just as the board was shown: Honestly, the worst board pick for Mario Party DS is something I agree with, when you try to 100% the game(Which you CAN do), you literally have to play on this board(Kamek's Library) and WIN... EIGHT. DIFFERENT. TIMES. in the Story Mode for all eight characters! And with the board being so annoying to play as it is, with the stupid split and the annoying gimmick, in the Story Mode, I swear on my life, IT'S RIGGED AGAINST YOU! One of your opponents plays better than the others! Why? I don't know, but it's irritating when trying to duel them and you literally can't mess up. It's irritating.
