I was an extra in the Babylon Club scene that was shot on the Universal lot. Here is a "Cinderella" story that you all might enjoy.
My friend and fellow extra, Carlos Cervantes, auditioned for one of the speaking parts, but was turned down by DePalma. He was devastated. But he had a young family to raise and bills to pay, so he worked as an extra in the film, just like me. Well, one of the young men that played one of the two Cuban hitmen in the nightclub scene had never been in front of the camera before, and when he held up his machine gun in the rehearsal just prior before shooting Pacino, his gun hand was shaking so badly from nervousness that DePalma had to replace him right there on the spot, with hundreds of dress extras and cast members just standing there. That's precisely when my friend, walking by in his waiter costume, was noticed by DePalma, who still sitting behind the camera asked him for his jacket size and more importantly, "Can you handle a GUN??" When he replied that he was a Vietnam vet, he put him in the hitman's suit (which fit him perfectly), did a quick run through on camera, and DePalma hired him immediately, not even realizing that this was the same actor he had previously disappointed. That scene remains one of the most pivotal and exciting moments of the entire film. Carlos has been constantly working as an actor ever since. In this business anything can happen, and often does.

If I wasn't there to witness it, I probably wouldn't have believed it. Btw, just prior to this event, my friend's name was 'Gary Cervantes,' but I gave him the more "edgy" name of "Carlos" Cervantes. If you want to see what he did right after this movie, just do an iMDB search of his name.

He was the most prominent hitman in the shot, the one in the moustache. The other guy kind of stayed in the background, as DePalma had instructed him. In the end of the shooting attempt, a set of falling lights falls on Carlo's dead body.

Michelle never even received a direct question until 20 minutes in and then Brian cuts her off almost immediately. When she's finally allowed to speak she makes perhaps the best point of the entire interview. As others have noted, the interviewer is just not up to the task of properly handling group of iconic actors such as this.

Let's not also forget the other Scarface actors, Mark Margolis as Hector Salamanca and Miriam Colon, who played Tony's mom, and Tuco's abuelita. The interviewer could have moderated this much better by allowing Michelle Pfeiffer to speak a lot more and preventing Steven Bauer from rudely interrupting so much and injecting himself in everybody else's conversation.

Usually you meet the folks you will be working with at the first “Table Read”. When actors get to interact with one another before they shoot, it’s a beautiful thing. Be well.

I'm sorry actor Robert Loggia (casting as Frank López ) is not here with the rest of the cast : he died in 2015. As a matter of fact I think all the casting should be on the stage because they all did a wonderful performance giving credibility to all their characters. The soundtrack of Scarface composed by Giorgio Moroder is other gift for your ears: used by UFC MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal when entering to the UFC cage : I love it. Brian de Palma did a great job: other movie of his I treasure is Carlito's Way: good movie too over destiny and ephemeral happines.

Oh yeah, Giorgio is a hell of a composer, I mean earlier that year he composed Flashdance which had probably the biggest Pop hit of that year, of course one of his associates who worked under him was a guy named Harold Faltermeyer, who later on did the score for THE BIGGEST film of 1986 known as TOP GUN, and Giorgio composed most of the pop songs from that film, and another associate of his who worked under him, who actually worked on the scores for both Flashdance and Scarface Sylvester LeVay, actually did the theme and score for the 1980's action series Airwolf.

It's amazing how these people were able to take an older film, transform it into a new one using actual historical events and use a cast that just click with one another and from A-Z make it all work together... it is just amazing and sometimes I think these things happen to an extent by accident.. I mean, no one really knows the outcome of a project from scratch and in the end if it clicks then it kind of happens on its own. It is just remarkable.

As a 56 year old, I can understand what you are saying at your young age. However when you hit middle age, you see things completely different. You realize that a span of ten years is a SHORT time, and not like we see it while busy living life. A decade isn't long at all, but you see a real change after about 40. It really took me by surprise because you look in a mirror every day, yet it's so gradual you don't notice at first. One day you look in the mirror and think "I only have 20 or so years left" and it just makes you look at everything in a completely different way than when i was 20 or 30.
