Al Pacino is so sweet, gifted and humble. I adore him even if he is very old now. It does not matter. He must be the best father to his children. And his passion for acting is so genuine.
Are you nuts? It is a brilliant man and I love his personality. That does not mean I want to sleep with him. Everybody are born different years, who cares?!
Absolutely true! My mother lived to 94 years old and watched all her friends from her church in Brooklyn NY die over the years. Fortunately, i was smart enough to leave NY at 18 years old to live in California.
@ I come from a good sized family myself, and I think I read the avg family size (per world average) is 5.8 children. It might not sound like much, until you understand that in most countries, a family consists of parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, all living together. Having 12-16 people in one small home, no AC or running water, and disease spreads quickly through. 💔
Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all time. He is a living legend. He is also a very beautiful person. I love you man. May you and your family always be happy and may you continue to make lots more great films.
Started my whole acting and filmmaking career because of this awesome artist... Just ordered his memoir to get another dose of inspiration. Thank you CBS and THANK YOU MR. PACINO! With love and respect.
@@josiahmitchell8594 Maybe the movies aren’t like before, but if you live in Usa, do it, they literally fabric dreams there! I’m Italian and if I was born and live in Usa I’d sure tried to pursue an acting career. Sorry for my english.
First of all, Ben is a wonderful caring interviewer... He asks great questions, has good follow up and let's his interviewees talk... Al, is so real and down to earth... He has always been my favorite actor of all time... His humanity as well shines through here...
Thank you for uploading this, "I can't retire... where would I go". This just shows he is still that guy that doesn't care about anything but his artform, during his interview on the inside Actor's studio with the late James Lipton Al was asked "if heaven exists what would he say at the pearly gates" to which he replied, "When is the rehearsal ??" what a legend....
I love Ben's style. He doesn't interrupt his guests and allows them to tell the story how they want to. I have been a fan of Al Pacino as long as I could watch TV and movies. What a tremendously gifted actor. What a joy to watch him.
I have his book on Audible and am so grateful that he wrote it and narrated it. I was too young to see his earlier movies when they came out, but after hearing about all the different ones in the book, I am going to watch them now. He was so devastatingly handsome as Michael. How cool that he still has a full head of hair.
He is the best actor of all times. Al has so much class and humanity, He dose not inject himself into politics. I continue to watch all his great movies. Wish him peace and happiness.
I would put Mr. Pacino in the same class as Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, and Sir Anthony Hopkins--all are in the same generation and seem to be better at choosing roles than someone like DeNiro, who, while talented, makes many forgettable films. Pacino also has been involved in teaching other actors--that's special.
Al is my favorite also. DeNiro is great, Brando, Olivier, were great, but there is a certain charm, wit, sexiness, serious way about Al that sets him apart on a higher level for myself. Don't know him personally, but from the interviews, he is the complete package every woman desires in a man. He's so passionate about life, his craft, his children. This is the man I could share my life with. You feel you can learn something from him everyday, and that's what my definition of a real man, and leader.
I do extra work regularly and have met/worked/seen 100’s if not 1000’s of celebrities and stars or whatever in my 10 years and of all of them Al Pacino takes the cake of the coolest person I’ve met and worked with 👑
What an excellent interview with my most favorite actor Al Pacino! Because of him, I visited Corleone in Sicily, even had a drink in the bar where Godfather was filmed. Ti amo, Alfredo.
@@Pravindaswani74 Yeah I agree. He just doesn’t come across like he’s listening to a legend. I feel like there’s a certain amount of respect in acknowledging that you’re actually sitting there with someone such as Pacino…and he just treats it like it’s an every day occurrence. …I’d be delighted and smiling from ear to ear. Oh well. We have a great interview to listen to for years and I guess that’s what matters
A great artist of the theatre and film. Like many true actors he is usually kinda inarticulate when it comes to analyzing his method of acting but when he’s talking his memories he’s amazing.
These long formats are wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. Mr. Pacino is looking vital, always humble and charming. Hope to see more of him on screen in the future.
They filmed And Justice For All in the courthouse where I was working at the time. I came in to where I worked, to sit behind the desk where I dealt with lawyers, and there across the room was Pacino, readying himself to walk into another room where they were filming. He got into character with a rumpled slump, and off he went to an Oscar nomination. Fascinating man - he was making it look easy, which of course it wasn't.
Hearing Al Pacino talk about his youth in the South Bronx brought tears and laughs to me. Memories of growing up in East Harlem- the comradery, danger, the comfort and having a great Mom. Thanks Al. And thanks Mom. Thanks for keeping us on the right road through the mean streets and its scourges.
As a kid, teenager into young adult, this man was & still is my idol. Growing up the The Bronx was tough then. But you have to climb up & out, & wow did he.. Thank you for the memories. I can’t wait to read his book…
Splendid interview with an ICON. I am so amazed that how sharp he still is at this time of his life. As for comparing him to Brando? Well, in my opinion, Brandon would have to move up a few notches to equal Pacino. Again, in my opinion I cannot name a single actor in the last 50 years that can equal him. He's still humble and kind. Long live Al Pacino. He's brought so many enjoyable times in my life watching him.
My favorite movie of all time is Scent of a Woman..for many reasons..but mostly Al Pacino's defense of his friend at the end. I have never seen a more powerful performance. This man is my favorite actor.
Awesome interview, Ben. I remember when he paid a visit to our Acting school Lee Strasberg in '82. A fellow Actor/friend(Randy Rocca) became Pacino' standing on "Scarface" a few years later he tragically died on a motorcycle accident. Recently, a friend of mine worked on a film with Pacino, and he was telling me that Pacino told him that he reminded him of a young actor that was his stand in, and had died from a motorcycle accident. My friend didn't know I'd knew him, so when I mentioned that, We just stood and were kind of surprised that 42 years later he would remember that, and he spoke very kindly and genuine about my old friend, his stand in.
I was at Lee Strasberg's School at the time Cruising was being filmed and one of my acting teachers was cast for a role in Cruising and filmed with William Friedkin and Al Pacino. He would wax on about all the artistic choices and intricacies of the shoot. Then it turned out he was completely cut out in the final edit. Such is the promise and defeat in the life of an actor. How fortuitous for us all that Al broke through the way he did! He was always my inspiration and my absolute favorite.
Al Pacino says : " I.can't retire..... where would I go? " Well Dear Al , you would come live with me and I'd take excellent care of you. Something I would have loved him to do , when he was in his 20 ' s.... cuz to me - that dear man , is the same handsome , witty , talented , sensitive man he was back then... the only difference is my love and respect for him has trippled more than I ever would've guessed. Thank you for all you have given of yourself to make this World a more enjoyable , happier and better place ! You are one of a kind. ❤️
Best actor of all time for me. His flexibility is what impresses me the most: From the insane and chaotic in Scarface, to the more calculated type in the Godfather , the controversial older man in Scent of a Woman and the list goes on. One of a kind
i cried when he talked about the lost potential of the people he knew who died of drug overdoses and losing his mother. and cried again when he talked about the teacher who walked up 6 flights of stairs to tell his family he should pursue a career in the arts. i had no idea his life would be so interesting to me.
Al Pacino is brilliant in this interview. His acting style is unique & he is one of my favourite American actors. Looking forward to reading Al Pacino’s new book. Hopefully you will continue to act in many more fine films. Best wishes Al Pacino.
I enjoyed this interview on so many levels. Obviously, because he is Al Pacino. My sister turned me on to Panic in Needle Park and, therefore turned me on to him and to Raul Julia. Serpico, Michael, Dog Day Afternoon were movies that were what the 70s were all about. But, listening to him was like listening to an old guy in the neighborhood that is simple, humble sharing stories of his life. It was indeed intimate interview. I saw him on broadway in American Buffalo. I was too young to understand it but I went to see him. I went alone. He is a gem like my mom and dad are gems.
Al is a real actor- a true theatrical artist who happens to also be a movie star. Years ago I saw him on stage in NY every chance I could get in American Buffalo, 3 times in Richard III, The Basic Training of Pablo Hummel which I saw four times, lol. I was an AL PACINO enthusiast and an actor in training myself back when it was affordable for a college student to go to the theater. He was amazingly brilliant every time. Great that we have his film work accessible on celluloid that we can rewatch and treasure forever.
Ben did a great job. He tenderly tried to lead in Al Pacino in certain directions but was respectful when Pacino dud not go there. Ben knew that this time with Pacino and letting him “go” was more important. Thanks, Ben.
When we lose him We will have truly lost something. He and a SMALL handful of others, defined a multi decade “era”. This might be the best Pacino interview ever btw.

“If you live long enough, you see a lot of death!” WOW! That is so powerful, and heartbreakingly true.
So true the only time you see a light is when the doctor shines that bright LED light in your eye. And you think you're on your pathway to heaven.
Absolutely true! My mother lived to 94 years old and watched all her friends from her church in Brooklyn NY die over the years. Fortunately, i was smart enough to leave NY at 18 years old to live in California.
And also, if you have a large family, the odds are you will see a lot of death and suffering.
