      1. it is automatic, you don't have to write that on your head to remember yourself to feel great when you score a goal. 2. You do not create a Feeling, Emotion of Reward. You can't reward effort if your brain hasn't already automatically rewarded it. Thank God people do not create their goods and bads by cognition/thinking/will, they would fckup evolution faster than asteroid, possibilities for unimaginable/easy manipulation would be a million times higher. God bless automatic unconsciouss and those who want to feel rewarded when their biology creates punishment feel

The first point of "winning is subjective" reminded me of a monk's story who was building a wall, as part of the monastery construction, and upon finishing it he noticed 2 crooked bricks. He got so annoyed with himself for making such mistake. He couldn't fix it anymore as the wall dried up and there's been lots of work done at this point. He left it and every time he looked at the wall he could only see those 2 crooked bricks...until another monk came and said "you built a beautiful wall". He responded "but look at those 2 crooked bricks" to which the other monk responded " what about those other 998 bricks that you placed perfectly well? ".
Don't hold to your 2 crooked bricks.

Your uncle is right, using his videos I managed to go from being a decade + blue collar worker (cleaner to be precise) to an AI engineer with multiple degrees (top universities) in just under 7 years and now an engineer. I was an adult/mature student and was in the same class as 17 year olds who bragged about attending schools for the gifted. Guess what, all the praising their parents did for them set them back terribly. I graduated first and was the only one who was able to land multiple professional job offers. I always hype myself even for the smallest things. Showing up in class on time, "great job", turning off the lights after a long day, "you did great". Day to day, I do not compare myself because we all have different starting points and circumstances. There is only one of me. Most importantly, I learned how to set goals on different levels, track and measure my efforts and define the right metrics. You can't really compare how well one video did over another despite same effort because there are many parameters unknown to you that are beyond your functional control or tweaking. We do not live in a deterministic world. When it comes to winning you literally have to decide you are a winner, and let that be your identity despite what "results" you see. Effort by itself is one of the biggest most underrated things, most people never even start, remaining in the game by itself is a winning metric. Measure the right things, but most importantly define your bigger goals before you start tweaking your days because that will be your NorthStar. You also have to trick your brain into continuing to see yourself as a winner, sponsor the right thoughts and not disempowering thoughts like "I put the same effort in both videos and one did poorly", that is not empowering. You also can't overly rely on external feedback and validation from your viewers, at the end of the day, what you say and think of yourself despite external evidence is what matters to you. All the best and remember you're already a winner by virtue of being born on this beautiful planet and having life in you.

@@user-qh6ii7qt6m You can do it! I joined uni in my late 30s but didn't mention my age to my 17 year old classmates and I still topped the class, I didn't even mention my age to myself either, coz our brains are always listening to us 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I also had joined uni when I was 20 years old and my then lecturer told me I should drop out and wouldn't make it in engineering. I listened to him but actually, what I didn't know was how to study effectively, how to be self-organized, focused and how to manage my focus and attention. More than a decade later when I started watching Andrew Huberman and Cal Newport who wrote the book on Deep Work, I also listened to writers like Steven Kotler who wrote Flow, and everyone knows the popular Atomic Habits by James Clear. I never actually read their books not even a single page, but I watched all their book tour promotional videos/lectures/podcasts and learned a common thread of being productive, achieving your goals etc. I of course modified my lifestyle e.g., didn't watch any TV for 2 years at least, left active social media, put my phone on silent not even vibration for years (to this day), I don't play video games either, I have healthy habits like walking everyday for an hour. When I was a student I did 30 mins of an intense morning workout before class, slept on time and ate a plant-based nutrition. I completely re-wired my brain to excel. So, if I did it in my late 30s, and built a whole new career, you can do it too!

Why does the idea of thoughts becoming reality keep coming up-Earl Nightingale's strangest secret, James Allen, the host of manifestation gurus spawned in the late 20th century following Goddard and the like, all based off of ancient wisdom saying: thoughts become reality?
At first it seems fanciful but the more you think about it and observe the more evidence you see. The placebo and nocebo effects are very real and powerful. Huberman spoke of a Stanford study where one group shown a video on the negative effects of stress showed such negative effects, whereas a group shown a video on positive effects of stress exhibited such positive effects.

Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. A few big breakthrough moments in the career I’m pursuing slipped away from me last year and it had me feeling at the start of this year like I was in the same position as last year Jan. Then I started thinking and that made no sense! I’ve done a lot of things in 2023 I could only have dreamed of doing in 2022. Yes, they might’ve not let to anything substantial yet but I did do it! I proved myself! I showed my potential. I can do it again & learn from my mistakes and do it better. I’m very proud now of myself for the growth I’ve gone through last year and feel like I’ve developed an a lot more healthier relationship with myself, exactly like this video is describing! Much love to everyone reading this. I hope you do great things this year!

my first impression of this video is that it is one of the best and most motivating lessons i have ever seen anywhere. i intend to watch it daily and see if i can put it into practice and see if it is as powerful as it seems to be. my habit has always been to immediately put aside every victory as soon as it happens and give it little to no thought again while ruminating on anything i consider to be a defeat. seems obvious i know so with this daily reminder i will see if it takes me anywhere.

My biggest takeaway is “reward efforts, not outcomes” your delivery just make this concept click not to mention I died laughing with your misspelled quote (and name😂). You know, I really think all of your help and tips are good advice. When it comes to self improvement youtubers sadly I can't help the feeling that they actually don't want us to succeed since they live from our views and cutting down information and making a separate 10+ min video instead of a full ultimate guide. I really think I have to stop being pessimistic about everything and drop the act of sad perfectionist and just do things and learn along the way. Rewarding effort is a good point because you can't always make the best outcome come true but you shouldn't punish yourself for trying mentally. Thank you for this video.

Keep it up, I'm super proud of you.

In my experience the best way to get the 'winner effect' in your life is to transform your body...I was skinny all my life and then decided to hit the gym and transform my body. Within 8 months I made good progress and ever since then I've been so much more confident to do anything and take on any challenge...my current physique serves as a constant reminder that I can do anything I put my mind to do and it gives me that 'winner effect'

I truly appreciated this video. I am recovering from a career burnout and had lost a lot of motivation, but somehow started to get it back and pursue a new venture. An exciting and unique venture in my area. I've been developing the ideas for three months and nearly ready to announce to my local audience and then I see an acquaintance launch a very similar idea a few days ago. It was crushing: lead to self-doubt, felt like my idea was stolen, and kept wondering if this person somehow caught wind of my idea. I decided to pursue it any way and to just be the best that I could be at it. This video has solidified my decision to carry forward. I will not be comparing myself to the world, I will be competing only with myself so I will grow. Thank you.

For the age bracket study, I started playing soccer at a fairly late age. When it came to playing for a travel team, being born in October meant I had to play in an age group above my own. I was born in 94 and had to try out for the 93 team. There was far harder competition in that age group at my age at the time. I was 12 playing with kids about to enter their freshman high school soccer seasons. I was always far bigger and stronger than most kids my age, so sports that I started at a younger age were no issue. My brother played up an age group and we dominated both basketball and baseball together.

Well I never made any team in high school in any selective sport because I too had to play with the kids in the grade above me, always older. And I had it had that happen to me before because school sports weren’t competitive before that.

He's been dominating the sport, specially after his 2 biggest rivals stopped playing. Now my take is he's so much more accostumed to winning compared to his opponents, and even they know that, so he just keeps on winning.

Before watching the video, let me throw out several random ideas I have on this topic of success:
-Achieve success in an area of your life that doesn't matter very much, like for example becoming very good at juggling or ping pong (assuming you are not a professional athlete lol). The feeling of being successful can propel you forward in other more important areas of life as you get used to the mentality of a winner.
-If you can't or are at rock bottom, create a checklist everyday and put can't fail items like get out of bed, eat dinner, etc on them and tick them as you complete them. At the end of the day when you see that you're actually completing things (even if they are seemingly banal or inconsequential) you'll start to feel more accomplished and confident.
-Recall a time in your life when you accomplished or were successful at something (even if it was something inconsequential like being king of the playground or Pokemon card battles or something), and use that feeling as an anchor when facing difficulties.

Theres an Brazillian writer, which my girlfriend loves one of his phrases that in some way fits into your video,
"You don't have to fight to be better than anyone else, you need to fight to be better every day with yourself." -Olavo de Carvalho
when you see big sucess in others, you fell defeated, but when you see small sucess in yourself, you fell motivated, thats what i've learned, thank you so much Leon!

This is just what i needed to hear. Been feeling like a failure and just stuck in a downward, self beating rut. But ive been showing up for myself by taking walks 3 days in a row, and doing my best not to discredit myself when i dont cross off all the tasks from my to do list. I can totally relate to transfering the tasks to the next day and it wpuld be helpful to get some pointers on how to deal with that. But i have found that writing things down and getting them out of my head and crossing off what ever i did accomplish for the day is very helpful. It takes the chaos out of the head and gives a sense of accomplishment. Thanks again for this video! Will be checking out more of your content.

I haven't moved on yet mainly because I'm still undecided on what I want to do next. But this video helped me realize that I'm currently not doing terrible, and I need to adjust my expectations a bit. Also, I realized that I was more focused at the time of my life when I exposed myself to self-help content regularly. Over time, I developed a negative view on the self-help industry because, let's be real, there is a lot of bullshit out there. But the truth is that it can really be motivational. Anyway, good shit man.
