I don't comment to you much, but I'm compelled to let you know that I've been in the same position you were, and made the same decision. It's never an easy one, and good grief people are just not nice about it, but you put Tig's needs first, which is what any parent of a fur baby has to do! You seem more content with life since getting the homestead, and I'm happy for you! Just be you and to heck with everything else!

Please live your life that suits you. We will be watching and wishing you the very best. Be safe and loads of hugs to you and the kitties.
You made the right decision for you and the pup. Don't beat yourself up. Keep up the good work. I have been watching you since college. I'm 83 years old , and my husband and I can't Rv any more because of bad heath.
Actually, i was shocked when he got a dog. I felt this would not be a good fit for him in many ways. Hopefully he did his due diligence on this new home. Home check etc... As long as he got a great new home then thats a good thing. Hope to hear updates down the road.
Eric, thank you realizing so quickly, that it wasn't working. It's not a failure,it being completely honest with yourself and being unselfish enough to do what is best for Tig.
Aww. As a dog person I was so excited when you got Tig. But I get it. Dogs are not always easy and puppies can be down right hard. It’s not a failure to recognize that it’s not the right time for a dog. It just is what it is. Be safe.
My on an had a ground wire that would touch the silver insulation panel on the door. Ran great with the door off, put the door on and the vibration would rattle the wire, and intermittently touch the insulation shorting the generator.
Eric I was a dog owner for many years! My last dog passed in 2021 and I have been waiting for the right dog to come along. But….I was given a cat last year. She’s 2 and a half, and I love it! No guilt leaving her for a few hours, easy to feed and care for. I’d much rather clean a litter box than go out at 3 in the morning during a blizzard!! If the right dog does come along, I’ll endure. But for now it’s Kitty City for me! The important thing is that you found Tug a great home! Live on and happy!
I've been a lifetime cat owner. One thing I've learned through personal experience and from cat experts is: Cats do best in pairs. And, it's easiest to introduce a second kitty while the first kitty is still young and playful. I have found mixing a male and female works best. Similar temperaments are best. My cats run and play together, sleep together, eat together, groom each other...Single cats develop behavior issues like peeing outside the box, spraying, aggression, biting, etc. So, I would highly recommend getting a kitten around 3-5 months old ASAP. Then, they can grow up together. I hope this helps. Kitties are awesome! I wouldn't want to live this life without them. ❤
Eric there’s a lot of good people out hear watching, not all will agree with every thing you say or do. Some just want to give their help or opinions just like you do.
So we are full time also (with a youtube channel). We traveled without a dog (or cat) and my wife wanted to take our little dog with us (our daughter had it at our old "Home city.") Been with the dog about eight months. I will say it is easier to explore and such without a dog. However, if I have to go to work, it is great companionship for my wife. Oh, huge Morgan Wallen fan also. I have both of his double albums. It was great seeing you in Tampa at the RV Show.
Hugs Eric! I hope you can stay yourself with those of us that love you and your channel! I know that I don't judge you. You have shown how much of an animal lover you are. I know that I can't raise another baby anything! I love animals but I will be remaining a rescuer of grown fur babies from now on. Tig is amazing and I'm sure he is with people that know that. Especially since you will be keeping in touch with him! ✌️❤️✌️
At least you didn't just dump tig...........It will be a while before people forget about this one................................Thanks for the video Eric.
You made the right decision with the puppy. Dogs are loyal but very needy of attention. You found the puppy a good home and did not abandon him. It is best you realized this earlier rather than let him suffer.
Being a responsible pet owner also means knowing when to do what's best for the animal regardless of the situation. You made the correct choice for you and not others, therefore I respect you 👏. Have a good life with the kitties and be comforted in knowing you did what was ultimately best for Tig.
I wonder how many nasty comments are from hypocrites who abandoned their pets outside...and they are simply mad YOU did the right thing? You did the loving, humane thing.
I have been following you for several years, your an inspiration I’m retired and 66 years old we rv very different than you do staying in one place for months at a time. You gave it your absolute best shot with that puppy in my opinion, and good on you for finding him a loving home…take care my friend.
I admire your courage to realize being a puppy owner is not for you. I love dogs and always had one until retiring and wanting to travel. Our last dog had passed and we made the decision not to get another. And traveling with a puppy is a lot harder than with an adult dog. Anyone who disagrees with your decision has that right but you have the right to ignore them. Good luck on your travels withthe babies
Eric I know nothing about the Victron charger so this is a long shot suggestion. Look in the app for the charger to see if you can set a MAXIMUM INPUT CURRENT for charging the system. If you can adjust it, try setting it to a maximum of about 30 amps and see if your charging voltage on the truck side of the system stays up around 14 volts. Simply put, the Victron is drawing more than the alternator can supply, and that is what is cooking them. If you can adjust its current draw to something the alternator can handle, you are back in business.
Hi Eric, As a long time subscriber, a retired metal fabricator and lifetime rv"er there should be a door design that gives the generator cover many times more ventilation than you have. Maybe between Shawn and Robert they know someone that could fabricate one if one is not available online etc. Got to be a fix. Anyways safe travels and life never quits being a learning experience. I know because young man I'm close the last harvest host.
Hi Eric, My wife & I watch many You Tubers. ATW, Justin Scarred, Carpetbagger, Roamin' Rich (mutual friend of Sean's) to just name a scant few. However, your channel is the ONLY channel that we watch EVERY single video and have for about 5-6 yrs. Anyone who put you down because of you having to give Tig away is an idiot or insensitive as hell or probably both. Dogs can be alot of work, they require more attention and more care. Tig is going to be happier in his new environment that you described. We have always had dogs and cats and then for a time we were animalless. We now again have 2 cats and have very recently started fostering cats & kittens for the humane society. Halloween of '21, we found Pumpkin abandoned in the woods near our house, approx 3 wks old. We took him in and the little stinker has changed our lives. After Pumpkin, we adopted an 8 yr old cat, her name is Tigger and we call her Tig or Tig Tig. She looks like Jax. 🙂 Anyway, please keep creating your wonderful content, we enjoy it so much. Have fun out there on the road and as Roamin' Rich says... "Go Your Own Way"
Cats are so much easier to care for. Don't feel bad about Tig. I know you found a good home for him. Everyone knows you are a kind loving person who would never hurt an animal on purpose. Tig will be fine & you still get to see him. Happy Travels, and happy homesteading. ❤
Hey have You had the generator checked for a mouse nest? They like to get under the flywheel cover and build a nest which blocks airflow from the cooling fins. Those generators I think have a system that shuts them down if they get too hot. Since using the fan to force lots of air over it workes it is obviously a cooling problem so if it were Me I would be removing the flywheel cover and checking. Hope this helps!
Glad to see you back on the road. As a volunteer at dog rescues for many years, and as a person who had to surrender a dog, you did the right thing It sucks, it feels like failure, but to admit you weren;t the right person shows your stellar character. Tig is grateful...
I’ve been following you for a few years. Oddly enough when you got the dog I felt it wouldn’t work out, so wasn’t surprised when you re homed him. I think the cats especially Tara are feeling much better. I don’t think Tara would ever have adjusted to the dog. You made the right decision and I’m very confident you found a loving home for Tig and he will thrive.
I too was surprised by the decision to get a dog but if you build a homestead, a dog kinda completes the picture. But when one has already lived with cats, the puppy just seems like so much work and attention needed by comparison. Maybe an adult dog with a larger bladder that doesn't need to go pee as often and would cozy up with cats would've been a better fit.
You made the right decision with Mr Tig. It looked like it wasn't an easy decision. You gave that baby a good home. It's really nice to see you feeling better. Stay safe out there and who knows, I may see you on the road someday. My husband and I love to RV❤
As someone who had a career of professional dog training, dog grooming, dog rescue and dog rehab, I can assure you that many people have to find a different home for the first dog they get, and many (including myself) make tons of "mistakes" and do not know the many tips and tricks (such as crating) to make the puppy journey simpler for both pup and humans. Finding a better-suited home for Tig is the best for you and for him, even though it was not what you expected or hoped would be best.
Hey Eric. Most of us understand! It's all good. And no it was not a Failure!! We don't know what the future may hold.. take it from me, enjoy your adventures while you're still young and able! Hugs
I got a puppy once. It was a mistake as I was working 40+ hours a week and couldn't give the puppy enough attention. My mistake is I kept that poor dog instead of giving her the life she deserved. So I believe you made the correct choice in the long run. So don't beat yourself up about it, it was the right thing to do. I love your kitties by the way.
@@nomadicfanatic We love you bro. You are good man. Fuck those losers out there. Majority are jealous of their life choices they've made versus yours bro. I envy your lifestyle, the highs and the lows. May you be lucky when needed, smart when heated, and safe along the journey!
Eric I am proud of you for trying. I am a gr grand mom and I have never been able to have a baby puppy. I have found I deal better with an older dog. I am glad you have taken a stand with all the haters.
I was raised with dogs and when we went on vacation, Dad always found sitters. I never owned a cat until after marriage. We have had two cats, then adopted a third one. I tried for 4 months and that cat was nuts. I took him to the vet and she said it happens. I was sitting in the floor one day crying because he was just going crazy. He ran to me and bit my face. That was it, I called where we got him and took him back. They would barely talk to me. It was horrible. My vet said don't let them make you feel guilty. We now have a 9 year old boxer/cocker mix. Life is definitely different now, especially when camping. But we are in our 60s now and slowing down is ok. No one lives your life but you. You do you Eric.
O my goodness. We have been to these same places, stepped on the same dirt. If you ever find your self in Maine and want to experience some of the most quirky places let us know. We have private property for you to park the RV and stay as long as you like. Jody from Maine
I had the feeling when he bought Tig that it could get to be rough going, but Eric deserved the chance to make it work. It appears he truly tried. Happy to see him getting back to travels. Homestead updates are fine and looking forward to them, but Eric needs to travel.
So sad for your little dog .😢 Thought he was your forever family 😢 Puppy's are hard at first. So worth the sacrifice of your time and all that goes with it.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
if your generator (or anything else) is liable to overheat - which it sounds like it is - you could try a cheap hand-held gun infra-red thermometer to get accurate readings without touching anything too hot - they are cheap and work really well. A little bit of science goes a long way
No judgement some decisions are just better off made early for everyone's concern❤ besides I love all animals and I advocate for them all to have good home. I'm comforted in the fact knowing you found TIG a good home❤ xoxo Opie and Tara
Oh Eric ❤🐕. My favorite quote.... “Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That's just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful.” ― L.R. Knost
Sometimes on the Onan generators, a magnetic “plug” in the canister attached under the carburetor gets stuck. The canister has electrical wires on it. This is what allows or doesn’t allow fuel to go into the carburetor. I took mine out, cleaned it, and then mine worked fine (before it wouldn’t start).
Hey Eric, It's mike from upstate ny. A few thoughts from me head, A charging system cannot have mixed batteries setup unless manually switchable. Lithium charge at a really high rate, led acid starts to boil at high rates, lithium has a higher shut off charge setup than a led acid, IE: led acid rests at avg 12.8, lithium is at 14.5. As far as onboard gen , my thought is might be time to change spark plug wires, ( might be shorting on shield under warm conditions, test by spraying whole wires in silicone spray(must be pure silicon no petroleum). Another thing with onan gensets, if first start of the day is hard or not at all, try manual start on outside and hold open choke(thing that flaps back n forth near top) might back fire if too rich. As far as life goes like i've said before , it's your life and you do what must/want to be done. We are very happy that you have allowed us a peek into a window of your life's ups n down . Next time you find yourself near that awful Hamlin Beach Parkway in New York ,I'm still off rt 104 on rt 386,and still have a driveway and electric 20A .
Yes, you’re absolutely correct. I do not have next batteries in my system though. The victron DC to DC charger is specifically for lithium batteries when she goes to my five battle born batteries only.
@@nomadicfanatic Ok, thanks for responding , could it be a over draw burden on the alternator combined with what else is running on it at the same time on the system? Anyways just thoughts , Safe travels.
I completely understand that a puppy requires a lot of time and work. That’s why I adopted a dog that was a little bit older and already trained. Now she is a lot older (17 years) deaf blind and incontinent. And a lot of work. I told my husband my next pet will be a cat. It may have been a painful decision but You did the right thing for yourself and for Tig.
Eric, I respect that you recognized you couldn’t give Tig what he needed in his newborn years. It’s hard to let them go but you recognized his needs and finding him a home was the best thing you could do for him. You are a cat man at this point in your life. Love them and we will love you.
Hi Eric. That's interesting with your generator. Did you try after to put the cover back on and run it for a while? I always leave the outer rv access hatch open but leave the generator cover on since its designed to pull airflow a certain way. Wow, 9.1 mpg and that's with towing the trailer?
Yay on the road again!! You tried really hard and did the right thing for all of you! I am soooooo happy to see a new video... I was worried about you!! Enjoy! ❤ to you and Tara and Opie!!
My husband and I are 70 and have had several dogs over the years and we have a boxador now. She is 15 and we got her as a puppy. She is the only dog we have gotten as a puppy all the others were rescues from a dog pound and were at least 2 or more years older. We love our dog but never again will we get a puppy! A puppy is allot of work and time so I completely understand with all U have on your plate right now the decision U made. When your property is set the way U want it and your life slows down some if U want a dog I would go to a pound and save a life! There are wonderful dogs there that are housebroke and so grateful U gave them a loving home. I have no idea why anyone would have a negative thing to say about the hard decision U made and did what was best for Tig. Hope U have a good trip and stay cool!
I think you made the best decision for you and him.and finding him a good home... Now if you had put him in a shelter , you would lose 99% of your users.
Pups are hard enough in a home with a large yard let alone in a class c trailer. You gave it a shot Eric. Glad you found Tig a good home. No haters here….cept😮 taters…lol
We drove from Reno to So Cal on 395- it was incredibly hot, over 110. Our victron storage area was 120 and the inverter shut down. What type of set-up do you have to cool your inverter storage area? We are looking at temp controlled fans. We have a Bigfoot 29G like Kevin.
I have two 8" dc computer vans on the door compartment with a thermostat control. It does ok in 90 degree weather, but over 95 I have to keep that victron door wide open and another fan running in there to keep under 115 degrees.
Raising and training a puppy takes a lot of time, patience, and energy. Glad you realized getting Tig was a mistake and found him a good home. That will make both of you happy.
Some Wal-Marts that may say no overnight parking, BUT will allow it , if you talk to a manager. I got lost going cross country and, and explained my situation, and got to stay overnight, promising to be out by sunrise.
The presence of Black Betty points to somewhere in South Dakota.. A lot of your viewers know where you are going to. Let the newbies figure where you are going to. I have been watching a lot of your older videos. Most of the videos have seem to be produce today. I recommend to every view to check out the older videos. They are fun and informative to watch.
I am not going to make a mean comment. I hate it when people do that. I will say that do you put your life out there in all dimensions so in my opinion, it is fair game. Kind of like big stars and actors getting pissed off when people want to talk to them in restaurants. It comes with the territory and, in their case, the hundreds of millions of dollars.
I'm glad to see you on the road and being refreshed after your hard experience. My heart goes out to you as I know how you loved him and how hard you tried. Puppies are very difficult even though they are fun and adorable. No condemnation!
Hugs. Just because. Nice to see you on the road again. Enjoy the outing and then maybe back to the property. Loved the dinosaur museum .. can you imagine them wondering around now. Hot yes it is…hubby and I went to Moab and around there in July! Dang it was so hot 100’s and a bit more. Have fun and safe travels….
Sorry to hear about Tigg 😢, but understand. We knew we didn't want to get another dog or cat after ours passed away. We're out traveling every month with a converted cargo trailer and didn't think it would be fair to them to be in a small space while we're out and about or trying to keep them cool and safe. He is with a family and more space. You did the right thing by him. Blessings 🤗😺😸
Yay for no RV problems and A/C! 👏🏻😀 It’s way too hot 🥵 without A/C so run that generator. It’s not like you’re in an RV Park with close neighbors. Really pretty scenery.
Just a thought on the RV alternator issue. If you have or can get an odb II that bluetooth connects to your cell phone, you can use different apps to keep track of voltages, etc.
You did the right thing finding a new home for Tig. Animals deserve the best and if you're not able to provide everything they need to thrive, then it really is your responsibility to find a home for them where they will be happy. And now Tara can close both eyes when she sleeps:)
@Eric , I Have To Say , One Thing About You. THAT You Are A LOVER OFF ALL FUR BABIES. I DO RESPECT WHAT YOU DID, FOR TIG🐕, ❤️🐕❤️. I DO KNOW IT MUST HAVE BEEN HEARTBREAKING. I'VE BEEN THROUGH IT. BUT IN THE END IT'S FOR OUR BABIES, ❤️ WE HAVE TO MAKE THEM ALL HAPPY.❤❤❤
I have my Victron Orion wired from the battery terminals rather than the alternator. That may work for you. You can set it to stop operating at a certain voltage.
The only reason I can’t do that is because I do not have a lithium deep cycle starting battery on the RV. I do not want to mix different types of batteries.
Good to see you on the road again. Anyone who watches your channel knows how much you love Tig. Don’t feel bad. You gave him to a wonderful family I am sure. Your heart was in the right place. Happy travels.
As to the colors, they come back to modern era reptiles, look for skeletal similarities and voilà! All just supposed and imagined, but I like it better than them all looking like elephant skin color. Elephants aren't even close to reptiles. They conjecture some of the bird like ones had feathers just as your video showed. Glad you are digging on the 'Dinos.
I have rescued many dogs but you never know how they will adjust. I had to return a crazy beagle one time. He was just too rough for the other dogs. Dont feel bad you found him a good home. It doesnt always work out❤
As long as you did the responsible thing and found tig a good home I’m good. Not everyone is cut out to be a dog owner. Don’t let everyone beat you up over it. You tried. I once had a cocker spaniel that was insane and had aggression issues and guarded her food bowl while eating. I couldn’t fix it so I ended up giving her up to a cocker spaniel rescue to try and find her a new home. Sometimes a pet isn’t yours for life and that’s OK.
I don't comment to you much, but I'm compelled to let you know that I've been in the same position you were, and made the same decision. You made the right decision with Mr Tig. It looked like it wasn't an easy decision. You gave that baby a good home. It's really nice to see you feeling better. Stay safe out there and who knows, I may see you on the road someday. My husband and I love to RV❤
He thought he would get more views with the puppy, he gave up on his dog/god
Hugs
Stay cool 🥶❄⛄👍 what that generator fan for normally🤔
I got a puppy once. It was a mistake as I was working 40+ hours a week and couldn't give the puppy enough attention. My mistake is I kept that poor dog instead of giving her the life she deserved. So I believe you made the correct choice in the long run. So don't beat yourself up about it, it was the right thing to do. I love your kitties by the way.
You and the kitties are the best and you alwsys will be. Travel mercies and God Bless you all.
You are being fair to Tig and yourself...that is healthy...screw anybody else.
Positivity is the way to go. Don’t let these negative people drag you or your viewers down. Keep up the great videos Eric. 👍👍👍👍👍
I appreciate that
@@nomadicfanatic We love you bro. You are good man. Fuck those losers out there. Majority are jealous of their life choices they've made versus yours bro. I envy your lifestyle, the highs and the lows. May you be lucky when needed, smart when heated, and safe along the journey!
You can add a second alternator for charging just the lithium batteries.
Just curious, did ya'll connect the D+ trigger line when you put in the DCtoDC charger?
O my goodness. We have been to these same places, stepped on the same dirt. If you ever find your self in Maine and want to experience some of the most quirky places let us know. We have private property for you to park the RV and stay as long as you like. Jody from Maine
You did what was best for tig. Have fun with your travels
Great to see you traveling again. Doesn’t matter where your heading you always put out great content. Thanks Eric
So worth the sacrifice of your time and all that goes with it.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Not everyone can deal with puppy issues. Even the best of us get humbled by some puppies. You did the right thing.
if your generator (or anything else) is liable to overheat - which it sounds like it is - you could try a cheap hand-held gun infra-red thermometer to get accurate readings without touching anything too hot - they are cheap and work really well. A little bit of science goes a long way
hugs ,it was not time maybe later .donot be hard on yourself ,love you all.
And it's breathtakingly beautiful.”
― L.R. Knost
One of my very favorite quotes!
You did the right thing for all 4 of you. It's all good. ❤
Eric I’ve been watching you for years! What a great entertainment you bring us every upload it’s like ur a tv star 🎉
Thank you Eric for sharing this awesome content
You made the right decision getting rid of Tig
If you're going to travel with a dog, an older one is the way to go.
What size is your trailer?
Thank you!
It's good to see you out and about Eric..
You did the right thing with the puppy.
Safe travels
Raising and training a puppy takes a lot of time, patience, and energy. Glad you realized getting Tig was a mistake and found him a good home. That will make both of you happy.
Eric, you gave it a shot with Tig and it didn't work out, lesson learned. Be thankful for the time you had with him.👍
Some Wal-Marts that may say no overnight parking, BUT will allow it , if you talk to a manager.
I got lost going cross country and, and explained my situation, and got to stay overnight, promising to be out by sunrise.
I love this thumbnail. You cracked me up!!
Always wanted to visit. Had to have some fun with it!
As long as he has a good home, you did the right thing
@@JJ-zd5ldYes that is a good idea for sure.
Utah is beautiful, even if it is hot. Take your time and see everything there. Monument Valley is amazing...Grand Canyon...Moab, etc. Have fun. ❤
Gogeous images. Thanks Eric for taking me there.
I'm glad to see you on the road and being refreshed after your hard experience. My heart goes out to you as I know how you loved him and how hard you tried. Puppies are very difficult even though they are fun and adorable. No condemnation!
Support your decisions , sorry, enjoy your kitty family!
Your videos are really good! We enjoy watching them!! Doris and Doug from Chattanooga Tennessee
You did what was right for you both. No shame in that. I’m sorry it didn’t work out. 👍💞
bring back the gopro
Safe travels Eric. Sending you positive vibes. Life is too short, enjoy every minute and ignore the haters.
Yay for no RV problems and A/C! 👏🏻😀 It’s way too hot 🥵 without A/C so run that generator. It’s not like you’re in an RV Park with close neighbors. Really pretty scenery.
Tig was a cute bugger but you are limited in space, enjoy Sturgis even though we know the weather was the worst possible this year
The adventure continues! I love Moab and Monument Valley ❤
Thanks For The ❤️❤️❤️
Miss you when you are gone. I am glad you are happy now. Wish I could meet meet
Eric you do you however it’s necessary, after all it’s your life. Good luck to you and the kitty’s wherever you go.
Run, Eric, run! 😂 Eric, you made a difficult, thoughtful and responsible decision. I totally support you. Happy travels!
I have my Victron Orion wired from the battery terminals rather than the alternator. That may work for you. You can set it to stop operating at a certain voltage.
The only reason I can’t do that is because I do not have a lithium deep cycle starting battery on the RV. I do not want to mix different types of batteries.
You're an AMAXZING pet owner Eric!!!
Good to see you on the road again. Anyone who watches your channel knows how much you love Tig. Don’t feel bad. You gave him to a wonderful family I am sure. Your heart was in the right place. Happy travels.
Loved Opie in the window at the start of video
As to the colors, they come back to modern era reptiles, look for skeletal similarities and voilà! All just supposed and imagined, but I like it better than them all looking like elephant skin color. Elephants aren't even close to reptiles.
They conjecture some of the bird like ones had feathers just as your video showed.
Glad you are digging on the 'Dinos.
been following you a long time knew the pup wasnt a good idea, you did right by rehoming him still follow you let the haters hate
I have rescued many dogs but you never know how they will adjust. I had to return a crazy beagle one time. He was just too rough for the other dogs. Dont feel bad you found him a good home. It doesnt always work out❤
🎶On the road again... I'm so glad your on the road again🎶 and the genny is working."sort of".. Very exciting travel day. TFS.. Safe travels
Glad the dog will be fine, but pets should come first.
