    All due respect David Arquette openly stated putting the big gold belt on him was a terrible idea too. It took DDP (the absolute legend) to convince him to finally agree. Also, all the money he received during this "run" I believe he donated to Owen Hart & Brian Pillman's families. So.............. not all bad

    The really sad part is that the last 3 WCW PPV's, were pretty good. They tried to build a new ownership company with better management and the product was much better for it. Unfortunately it was too late by that point and they had to sell immediately. 2001 could have been the saving year, if 2000 hadn't have been the worst shitshow of a year in wrestling history

    • @mattabshier2494
      @mattabshier2494 Рік тому +17

      It's crazy to think that in that last year, WCW saw the introduction of many new cruiserweights that would later go on to build TNA's X-Division in their early years. My dream headcanon would have seen a rebuilt CW division featuring a remasked Rey Mysterio passing the torch to a young AJ Styles at a Starrcade. This company caused me endless aneurisms in those final years, but by God do I ever miss it; if nothing else, as bad as it got, it was never boring.
      Also, even with the loss of talents like the NWO, Radicalz, Big Show, Jericho, etc.; they still would have had enough star power to hang on with the likes of Goldberg, Sting, Booker T, Flair, Steiner, DDP, Jarrett, and more, while underneath guys like Sean O'Haire could have been built into future main eventers. What could have been.

    • @princealigorna7468
      @princealigorna7468 Рік тому +10

      @@mattabshier2494 Most of the silliness was reserved for the main event scene (a scene that, throughout WCW's history, was chock full of talent but always subject to just awful politicking). The undercard and midcard ALWAYS put on good matches that often times made bad shows at least watchable, if not elevated into "decent" status.

    the ultimate demise of WCW wasn't just the Fingerpoke of Doom but that whole January 4, 1999 episode. From Goldberg getting arrested for aggravated stalking (originally sexual harrasement), to the whole giving away the RAW results with Mick Foley winning the WWF World Title, to the Fingerpoke of Doom. Now nobody can't tell me that the episode wasn't the cause. Since over 600,000 viewers switched WWF RAW and witnessed the title change the switched back disappointed to the Fingerpoke of Doom. After that episode, everything eventually declined for WCW and they would never win another rating war again imo.

    With Arquette at least it wasn’t his call and he was pressured into it. Don’t like when that’s brought up in a video and they don’t mention that. Also how standup of a guy he was about that whole stint (donating his money to the families of wrestlers who died I think it was). That whole thing was 100% on Russo.
    Also, while it’s ridiculous that Russo won the title, it’s not like Vince McMahon didn’t do that as well, complete with vacating it right afterwards too.
    I’m not going to bat much for latter stage WCW, but those points could use a bit more clarity I think.

    Ross, hope you see this comment. This is what I’d want to happen/ what I’d do if I was WWE.
    You force Roman reigns to defend both titles in 2 different chamber matches.
    In the Universal Title chamber match Roman starts dominantly maybe you have Jimmy and Solo in the chamber with Roman. You have Sami Zayn in the chamber. Have all the superstars team up on Roman and Solo, meaning that Jimmy Uso is the last one out of his pod. Sami manages to eliminate Solo before Jimmy is out of his pod and he starts eliminating other superstars. Have Roman and Sami go at it for a couple minutes and then Jimmy comes out and they just bully and double team Sami.
    Roman lays down to rest or something cause he’s in pain from getting attacked by everyone, Sami manages to roll up Jimmy on the other side of the ring while he’s getting beat up and Roman isn’t fast enough to get up and break up the count.
    You have Roman vs Sami now with the audience thinking this is Sami’s night because he eliminated both Solo and Jimmy.
    Kind of like Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series 2014.
    But Jimmy doesn’t leave after being eliminated, he’s healthy, he just got in the match, so then Security comes out and forces Jimmy out of the chamber but Jimmy landed a super kick and Samoan drop before getting kicked out of the chamber.
    Match continues after Jimmy and all the security get out of the chamber. You have Sami low blow Roman and then he goes to the corner to hype up the crowd and signal for the helluva kick.
    Roman catches him with a spear and pins him.
    Roman retains the universal title.
    In the second chamber match of the night.
    In the WWE title chamber match Kevin Owens or maybe even Jey USO ends up beating Roman somehow, maybe have Jey And Roman form an alliance and at the final 3 (Jey/Owens/Roman) Jey super kicks Roman into a stunner from Kevin Owens and then does the splash from the top rope on Roman and pins him.
    Roman Reigns is eliminated, new champion.
    So now you have Jey Uso and Kevin Owens battle it out and whoever wins faces Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania.
    This is how you set up Sami Zayn to beat Roman for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania.
    This is how you set up Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania.

    For those who say Russo helped midcarders in WCW in early beginning years of tna surprising anyone would work with him and still made things work In TNA but also threw out his tna control still did had dumb ideas here and there plus his rants on WWE now is very questionable I rather see him work with the company and him compare what he did then to now honestly cause I question somethings he says cause he was a completely problem as hogan was so idk just saying

      Saw an interview with Bischoff that says he got called into a boardroom meeting after the takeover with an entire team of people he'd never seen before telling him how he was supposed to market WCW.
      AFTER he had already put them over WWE in ratings.
      When he went to Ted Turner to complain, he found out that Ted didn't have any more power than HE had.

    By the early 2000s wcw had utimately died, it could of had potential of winning the monday night wars, but they just fucked everything up, alot of missed opportunities, and losses of at then up and comers wrestlers (AJ Styles to name one) luckily he was able to bounce back in TNA and finally a star in WWE

    1. WCW never had logic in most of the actions they took. They just did whatever. 2. At least David Arquette tried to convince them not to give him the title.
