There was a Dark Side of the Ring special that covered the infamous Brawl For All event. The filmmakers interviewed both Jim Cornette and Vince Russo (separately, for obvious reasons), and the comments both men gave basically boil down why they are never going to see eye to eye:
Vince Russo: “I don’t get it. It’s just wrestling, bro. It’s not that big a deal.”
Jim Cornette: “Wrestling is the most important thing in my life.”
Russo would be a perfect fit for AEW. him saying that about wrestling and being able to come up with ridiculous stories and match gimmicks. he would be perfect. Tony should really hire him.

Russo almost came across narcissistic in that interview. He seemed unable to see or accept that his terrible, amature idea to have these guys actually box, had destroyed careers, cost people money, ruined entire story lines, etc... it wasn't until after Russo watched the fights that he sort of started to own, "oh.....yeah, this does actually make me feel kind of bad."
Jim doesn't just love wrestling, he seems to really care about the wellbeing of all the people who work in wrestling, where as Russo and others like him just seem to be all about getting ratings and pushing a given idea, even if it is terrible from a wrestling business standpoint. He's just very ignorant and not very self-aware or principled at all, the opposite of Cornett.
Russo working for AEW would get sooooo much praise from Cornette himself! Corny can’t stand AEW and the disrespectful wrestling they put on on a weekly basis. Russo booking there would kill off the already dying company

To be fair, Hogan and Bischoff almost killed TNA. They went to Mondays, got embarrassed, and it was never the same again. They lost all the momentum they had and never got back to the heights TNA had achieved at that time. 2005, 2006, 2007 TNA was special. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Abyss, Christian, and Kurt Angle. God Damn TNA was so damn good from 2005 to 2008.
If I remember correctly TNA eventually got taken off of TV cause the network found out that they had rehired Russo as a consultant on the low even though they knew that the network didn't like him

when russo was writing TNA everybody loved it, when Hogan and Eric came in everybody hated it. Go figure.

One big point that often goes overlooked: there's a fair argument that Vince Russo is at least partially to blame for the death of Owen Hart. That's what Cornette was talking about when he said Russo "ruined lives", and why Bret said he should be hung.

How is Russo responsable for that? they told him the people that repelled Sting were there and to find something for them. He did and Owen agreed. If he wasn't sure he could've said no like he did in the past. The fault goes to those people, not on Vince Russo.
@@Foxo-Matti12 If some random person goes to a hospital and tries to get a job as a doctor without having a medical degree and the hospital gives them that job, then the hospital is also at fault for the mistakes the fake doctor makes. It's called due diligence. In this situation, Russo was the hospital. Part of his job was making sure the people being brought in actually had the qualifications they claimed. He didn't do that.

Vince Russo just talked about how he would book CM Punk Vs Cody Rhodes. His idea is Punk would somehow get a rule made in WWE that wrestlers wouldnt be able to wear suits anymore, and that would mentally destroy Rhodes, because suits are his whole identity. Punk would make the rule because he feels wrestlers should look like wrestlers.
If those are the ideas Cornette had to deal with in WWE and TNA, I dont blame him.
He's not the epitome of hate, he's the epitome of passion - and when you love something as much as he loved Wrestling, the last thing you want to see are people taking a steaming dump all over it. Alas, he's also someone who wears their heart on their sleeve and will tell you precisely how they feel about everything - loudly and shamelessly. Personally, I find that refreshing. It's nice to know where you stand with people or how they really feel, but if you don't reign it in, feelings tend to get hurt. No matter how you feel about it, one thing is certain - JC loved wrestling and wanted to propel the business, thus picking no bones with people who he felt were undermining it. Anyone who has (in his mind) is mentally dumpster-fired.

Russo never hated Cornette! Also, that video didn't give the reason why Russo filled for the court order. Cornette's best friend heard Cornette say a lot of things off the air that caused him to call Russo and advise him to get a court order, because Cornette has lost it! This was right after Russo's sarcastic apology video. Russo did the court order mainly for his wife and kids. Not because he thought Cornette would do anything, but a crazy fan might!

The show is supposed to be about the man behind the gimmick but Jim just fills us in on whats making him angry about his time at ROH that lead to his 'firing/leaving the company'. Russo literally wanted to turn Pro Wrestling into his own personal sex dungeon just like the Jerry Springer show. He tried to do the same to TNA back in 2002 when NWA was involved, but he ultimately failed. His version was gonna be called Sports Entertainment Xtreme.
