Thanks for the video.
Best roofer on youtube. I was anticipating your part 2!
Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise!
Thanks!
You should read the Roofing and Sheet metal book SMACNA. The insert edge into the brick should have a 1/4" return bend . It will keep the water out if caulk loosens. Also try lead wedges to hold metal into brick as it's easier to work with.
Good stuff Brian .
Great video!
Cute dog!
Admire the skill here. Full fuckin service dude. like it!
markin with a razor knife havent dried it yet i like it one less move
This is great because I need this done to my chimney and this educates me as a homeowner on what to expect! On my chimney its sagging around it. Can I assume the wood is rotten and does that drive up the cost significantly?
Used a brake twice, love that tool.
This is a little off topic but it’s about underlayment on a roof. I’ve seen whole roofs being done in one shot with it, and i’ve seen roofers who run one strip, shingle most of it then run another strip and cover the top couple of inches of the last row of shingles. I assume if the shingles leak somewhere the water will be kicked out onto the top of the shingles in less than 3 feet of travel. Is this an acceptable method of installation or is there some reason you shouldn’t do it? Don’t answer me here, make a video. I learn something new every time i watch one. Thanks.
Great video, do you also fabricate saddle flashings with a cricket for chimneys? Haven’t really found to much content on that kind of custom fab work. Would be great 👍🏻
If it needs it we do. Typically they're small enough and don't need it, and if they're big enough to they're already there.
Try gutter coil stock 6 inch not 5. Works a lot better .
great videos, very informative and to good to visually see how it should be done correctly. Question for you. Is a cricket necessary for a chimney located in the center of roof about 3 ft down from ridgeline with back width measuring 26 inches? Even though I'm exceeding 2ft by a couple of inches is cricket still necessary?
It depends who you ask. If a chimney is done correctly crickets are not needed. I'm very comfortable doing up to a four foot wide chimney with no cricket. There are several factors though pitch playing a rule.
I think code is anything over 30" needs a cricket.
Is a reglet necessary?
No hem for appearance, strength, and durability?
Tear drop hem where it goes into the brick? Please explain!
I think your dog Trixie took a dump on the counter Flash
Was that a poodle?
Yes
Looks like a clueless homeowner trying to bend a flashing
canadians, LOL
