I have a 14.2 Mirage setup. I have used Mirage for the past 20 years and have never had the need to change. What I like about the Mirage is that you can ceiling mount the speakers away from the wall and the sound is hands down the largest soundstage that I have ever heard. Just for the fronts I have 8 Mirage's. They are arranged as floor "for ear level sound, middle, which is for sound about 5 to 7 feet above your head, and ceiling mounted, for sound 10ft way above your head. I have two center channels, one below my theater screen about 3 feet high and a ceiling mounted center channel. So just for the front speakers I run 10 speakers including two subs. There are 4 ceiling surrounds in the back. The rears sound MUCH better in a half circle up on the ceiling about 2 feet away from the side and back walls. The secret is to make sure that ALL of your speakers including your height speakers are away from your walls at least by two feet to maximize the soundstage.
Sounds amazing, I definitely agree that the speakers needs to be a certain distance away from the wall and some sort of diffusion in place for the sound to not smack off of surfaces and smoothly bounce back with a less washed out feel. What do you have powering the speakers? I am assuming this is a dedicated home theater room... I need to get wall mounts with arms in order to have the height speakers 1 foot away from the wall though, I don't exactly like this room in my videos lately and would rather find a new house with a decent template for a dedicated room.
I did the same with my boston acoustics Lynnfield series. 20 years old and never felt like replacing. I use 2x vr12 center speakers, front and side channels vr40, rear cr8 book shelves modified with the amd tweeters from the VR line speakers to timbre match. 2 jbl jrx 18inch subs, driven by crown xls1502 in full bridged mono 1025w @4ohm. Those subs love the power big cones. Crossover set to 47.5hz low is not an issue in my setup. I have a 7.1 setup my main amp is a older pioneer elite 7x130w at 8ohm 20-20khz. Not the skewed specs you see these days tested 1 channel at 1khz. To get higher wattages on paper..😂 Next step scoring a harman kardon citation power amp on the fronts. Got to love it people..its the hobby
My sound system consists of 4 SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers (2 for the mains and 2 for the side channels), an SVS Ultra Center speaker, 6 SVS Prime Elevation speakers (4 ceiling mounted for Dolby Atmos and 2 mounted on the back wall for the rear channels) and 2 SVS SB-3000 Subwoofers. The system is powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 11 channel AVR connected to a Panamax M5400-PM Power Conditioner.
I really love the sound, but they are not cheap... However over other speakers they really sound different, these are just so detailed and clear over others. I am extremely glad I went with SVS years ago, since I was thinking about going with KEF or PSB and a few others.
Sounds really nice guy! I have the Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 setup. I mounted my speakers in the ceiling . Height speakers are definitely worth installing. Once these guys experience the sound they will be blown away!!! Totally worth the investment. Even older movies that do not support Dolby Atmos or DTX Plus sound really nice with the height speakers. Great video👍
Oh man I was so happy once these were installed, a total night and day difference and music even sounds better in the 11.2 sound modes which you wouldn't think it would. The sound field you get is amazing with the heights, yea older movies really come alive with up mixing going on. I have been looking for new movies with Atmos or DTS X and it doesn't seem like a lot are coming out, Den of Thieves is one I was looking at... Not in Atmos i don't think, but you almost don't even need it with a good setup. What kind of speakers are you using now?
I bought 2 pair of these & I’m using 4 of these mounted on my ceiling to run my 7.1.4 system. Next I’m going to add another SVS SB2000 to bring my system up to 7.2.4. Theses are fantastic atmos speakers
Dali produce a height speaker for Dolby atmos and the sound can be directed forward or with a flick of a switch can be directed slightly donward Dali altico c1
Atmos ceiling tweeters should be wide dispersion so it envelopes sound above. SVS are fine for front height wall mount but now I want to try 4 ceilings for a 7.2.4 setup
Sorry late reply but i got those speakers and i am very confused if i should be setting that to upward or downward. In the manual it seems like downfiring is straight now while upfiring is at a angle down. But im not sure....
I see that you have them firing across your sitting position downward, I am interested in these and wondered where and in which direction to install them.
I notice you have 2 external fans on top of the Marantz. There is a company called ACInfinity that sells cooling solutions and one of these fans would fit perfecly on top of the Marantz. I have one on top of my Denon 3700H.
When I was a child seeing Star Wars, heard with overhead surrounds or speakers used as overhead as far, far away when star wars played in Dolby Stereo at Bournemouth Gaumont screens 1 and 2. Back in those days would have used a Dolby CP50. Screen 1 upstairs had only overhead surrounds x6 flush in the ceiling of the Cinerama curved screen auditorium. Screen 2 downstairs very large size had surrounds fitted sidewall/back wall and clusters flush-mounted spread evenly within the ceiling I think x6 or x8? Least x4 sidewall and x4 back wall. Cinema no longer exists was gutted up into halves early 1989 for shoebox cinema screens. I worked for year with new cinema plex that opened in the area at poole, UCI tower park 10 plex and when the chief showed me around day before I started projection training was amazed with screen 6 that is one of two largest screens 5 and 6. The smaller screens 1 to 4 and 7 to 10. While shown screen 6 with Ghostbusters II playing in Dolby Stereo SR Spectral Recording. I noticed the auditorium was fitted exclusively with OVERHEAD SURROUNDS or Eletro-Voice EV's yes it was immersive storytelling. So this overhead surround is old news to me. It maybe done discretely now but it still old news to me. What we really need is BELOW SURROUND as most joes home cinema have no clue what is sound? Real Life sound beats atmos dtsx auro even LIEMAX 12ch many times over. I own a Marantz SR6012 running up to x76 JBL professional in room length 15',4" width 11' height 7' 8" and that is tiny dinky size but doable. I run a five screen front matched smaller size JBL control 12SR all actively wired DSP crossover much in the way of 70mm for Dolby format 40 wide or SDDS 8ch. x3 JBL 8330 left sidewall x3 JBL 8330 right sidewall x2 JBL 8330 back wall x1 extra JBL 8330 the special at the back of the room x4 JBL control 1 for Matrix below surrounds underneath the x6 Irwin cinema rocker seats below surround matrix is placed at outer seats left to right front row and back row the middle row seats front/back have no issues hearing below surround that sounds defused and spread around below and depends on the steering of the extra pro-logic decoder that is wired to the system a bit complicated but once a trained listener listeners and knows how it works of what it can and can't do that's it it really is simple to set-up. x8 JBL control 1 for extra special x6 bass seat shakers x2 JBL 18" cinema subs diy JBL 4645 box size loaded with JBL 2240 with a JBL 4645C powered by Behringer inuke 3000 Up to 40 amplifiers that are in the kitchen Samson SRK21 rack main two Samson SRK21 racks in the THX cinema with x2 professional Lucasfilm Ltd THX system system as used in maybe few rare THX cinemas today if they are still using a THX 3417 crossover monitor? x2 Sony SDDS D3000 Dolby Stereo CP65 x2 Dolby CP500 x2 I wanted something not too pricey and yes ebay has tones of this cinema gear cheaper than fish & chips family meal.
KEF Q50A / R50 / Klipsch RP-140SA /are design to mount on the wall or be used as atmos. They have keyholes and can be mounted flush to the wall. the Sony Core Atmos speakers are also wall mountable (for people on a budget)
The KEF Q series is probably one of my favorites on a budget, although everything else was SVS, So I chose to go with the Elevations. I have a set of the Q 100 and 200 bookshelf speakers and love them for music
About the height speaker placement, when the side heights are connected to an A/V receiver, do you assign them as Top Middle or Rear Height? And is there a difference in audio quality when using one of each? Plz reply if u see this.
Very nice. I have these speakers arriving soon as well as my first Atmos system with the rest of the speakers coming in. Im coming off of a 2004 home theatre in a box, sony. It was 500 bucks at the time. This set up is a little over 3400. So a definate increase in price. Hopefully a big step up. How high should these atmos speakers go up on the wall? I have 8 foot ceilings and was going to use these as my front height speakers. Unfortunately the Marantz reciever Im getting only does 7 channels and 2 subs. So I have only 2 height speakers for Atmos in the front. Hoping that will be good enough. Its a small master room. My other concern was how the speaker set up would convert to 5.1 surround sources on alot of older content and games. Im assuming the height speakers wont fire during 5.1 content? Hopefully the Marantz can recognize signals and convert them. This is all completely new to me. My previous home theatre in a box is a 6.1 surround system. Its odd to me to not have a dedicated rear speaker and instead of side speakers you have 2 rear speakers that are diagonally positioned behind the listener. So Im not sure how 5.1 works without that dedicated rear and speakers directly to the sides. Hoping the system takes care of it for me, ha ha. Another issue I have is that I cant position the left and right rear speakers symettrically and may even need to put them higher up on the wall. So Im not sure how thats going to sound. My 65 inch OLED also is mostly blocking the two front speakers so that may be somewhat muffled as well. Hopefully the sound still fills this small room and is immersive. If I really enjoy it I will consider upgrading the reciever later for more speaker support, but as of now it will be a while before I have the furniture I need to properly set everything up.
Thanks man! I think we will see other companies competing soon, at least with something similar. I am really surprised by the difference these offered over my last speakers.
I used an any position I only have one pair. I used them also up fire and they works well. I think with. One pair the best option is to mount them on the side height or front height. They are amazing. I want to get the other pair
I think it depends on sitting position in relation to how the drivers are pointing towards the listener. In ceiling speakers, good quality like Kef, Polk, Q Acoustics etc point directly down at listening position, and are calibrated likewise too. Hassle true but though but if done right worth it.
john jordan definitely, that was one of my possible decisions to make whether to continue the line of KEF speakers I already own which I love. But certainly depends on the listening position and if the drivers and tweeters are pointed properly. Since I was going with the SVS set up I just continued with the brand. Bought for my dedicated home theater I think I will continue with the KEF line.
@@tacticalAV Hello. I have a set of kef q series speakers, q90 fontali, central q600c, and I would like to combine these svs as surround on the side walls, do you think they would match the timbre of the kefs? What are the tonal differences between my kef and these svs? thanks for the answers you want to give me.
Ever since I reconstructed the arm-mounts for my height speakers. Basically giving them an extra 6-in distance from rear wall to the back of the reflex ports,, I swear the bass I'm now experiencing has improved quite noticeably... ua-cam.com/video/xvdqI5qZa6g/v-deo.html
You are certainly right, however I did confirm with Klipsch that those are meant to sit on top of your front tower or L and R speakers. They can be hung on the wall, but not meant for the ceiling. Although someone will probably do that at some point.
You are right on both count and because of you i just order the SVS speaker to complement my new system .I have the Klipsch RP-280FA with the the RP-450C and the R115SW for R/L i have the SP-BS 22A from Pionner and at the back 2Polk FXi-A4 those i know that i have to change eventuelly. And my receaver is a Denon AVRX6400 H and i am thinking to put my old Yamaha RXV-861 as a pre-Amp what do you think??
Check the pre amp output from the Yamaha and see what the voltage it is putting out in the specs, you are looking for anywhere from 1v to 7 or 8v. It really depends on if the Yamaha is a dedicated pre amp, or if it has amplifiers inside of it, sometimes when you add extra components to the chain, it can create pre amp feedback which is distortion or buzzing. Otherwise I would say that would work great, but the Denon should give you similar sound quality acting as a pre amp as well. Klipsch and SVS are very similar sounding in nature I believe, at least a few of the models, but with the tratrix horn tweeters, they are unmistakable. That sounds like a great system already!
Again you are right the Yamaha is not and can not be a pre-Amp of course the Denon 6400 his great and have enough power to go alone but i wasn't sure .Anyway i will go with the Denon receaver alone first and tell you all about it cause i think to that both Klipsch and SVS are a perfect match .:)Can wait:)Again thanks for you're wisdom and keep up the good work !!
I'm thinking about getting these for Atmos. I recently bought an Atmos receiver. Easy to install even for Mr. All thumbs like me? I only have room for them on my wall behind my TV.
I thought you might want to know that my system is nearly identical except my heights are the svs satellites aimed down at the same angle. Playing this video did not sound all that great, I think a lot was lost from the recording device. I love my system. Only speakers I've heard that beat them so far are the GoldenEar 5's
Great video, thank you. I've recently upgraded to Atmos and added the Atmos enabled speakers (RP-140SA). Although it was a nice addition, but I don't hear much affect as I would like or just wasn't blown away with all the hypes. I'm thinking of returning them and switching them out with these Prime Elevation speakers. Do you think it is worthwhile doing? I currently have a 5.1.2 setup, maybe making it a 5.1.4 (with the addition of the height speakers)?
trinhk did you place them on top of speakers for ceiling bounce or did you mount them up high on the wall to direct fire at the main listening position?
lawrence09151 I placed them on top of the speakers and configured them as Dolby Atmos enabled speakers on my Denon AVR-X4400H. I have now changed the config and mount them as front height channel. Not sure whether I should with these speakers.
trinhk I think you’re good. Klipsch said you can use them as surrounds. Only reason I want the new version is the larger 5.25” driver and the ability to get rid of that Atmos crossover where they mess with the sound. You can switch it off in the new version. How many height speakers do you have? Also how do you like it? I’m about to buy two to mount as front heights but I want to mount two more to ceiling as top middle.
I've had a full a Dolby Atmos setup from the beginning and I'm sick of looking for Dolby Atmos movies! I've only just recently realised there's not one Dolby Atmos movie that has made it into my all time top 10 movie listening experiences. Far more wiser to choose a movie for its soundtrack then choose a movie for it's way it's audio has been dispersed!
Tactical - have you tried Focal Little Birds? I currently have them as my two height speakers but I've been considering changing to the Elevations for a while. I have a PB-1000 and am blown away by the sound for the price. I can imagine their height speakers are on par.
S O no I havnt, I have heard some of the focal speakers line and really like them, I would imagine those are spectacular also. SVS seems unique for home theater, good for music but decidedly not the best. I do love the way these match up to the other speakers, accurate and transparant compared to others I have tried.
I appreciate the info. I'm going to need to try the Elevations. I used to have an A-300 as well and loved it. Glad to see you're repping Emotiva and SVS, they are both fantastic US companies. Does your receiver support Auro 3D? If so, how does it compare to Atmos and DTS:X?
S O yea it supports auro 3d, I actually really love the sound mode for a few different things, video games, movies with no height information to up mix and music played in surround sound is amazing. It's the most unique sound mode since it makes great use of the height channels, compared to DTS X though... I prefer DTS all day. Since I only have about 5 movies in DTS X, it's rare but nothing in Auro 3d native. Just the demo disc, so it's great but DTS I feel is better at lossless audio.
He must have assigned those speakers because there shouldn’t be that much going on from Dolby atoms, only helicopters and rain and things like that, but that sounds like rear speakers continues soundtrack
they are pointing to where I sit, in the middle of the couch, and I wanted them off of the back wall to be able to distinguish between surround back channels and Surround rear height channels. In a typical Atmos or object based setup the speakers would be in the ceiling more or less directly above the listener or behind. But since this is on the side wall pointing towards the couch in the center it gives a more realistic engaging feel that's more cinematic ultimately.
They are acting as the rear height surround speakers, in a 7.1.4 configuration. Even so I should try moving them forward a bit, but since this room is so small, they seem to work best on the side wall instead of the back wall, plus the couch is too close to the back wall, center too low and surround backs way too close. Mainly I need to find a new room in my opinion.
Balakrishnan CR the ultra surround speakers could be used at height channels. The elevations are going to be a little better though because of their shape. You would have to mount the ultra surrounds and point them down, plus they radiate the sound in different ways than the elevations. The SVS ultra surrounds are amazing speakers but I would say the elevations are much easier to use for height channels. Actually using the SVS ultra bookshelf speakers would give a unique sound for height channels but very hard to mount on the ceiling.
I am considering going with all new SVS speakers, I was looking at other solutions for Height Speakers for my vaulted ceilings and feel these would be the best solution vs other manufactures who are suggesting cutting holes in my ceiling and or just wall mounting them very high and focusing inward toward the listening area. I want to mount these on my vaulted ceiling. Question it looks like you are mounting these on a wall focusing into the listening area are they providing a true Atmos experience this way or do they sound like they are coming from the area of where the speaker is mounted?
These SVS elevation speakers were much different than other ones I had installed in the same spot. The first speakers I tried you could point out the speakers and where the sound is coming from, these you cannot. So now it is a true atmos experience, especially with the 4 height speakers from SVS. If you just mount any old speakers on the top of the wall or ceiling you most likely can point out where the sound is coming from, but the elevations are slanted to point towards listening area so you get the full experience. That is what is so different about these, is the focused sound other speakers produce vs these. It is as close to a true theater experience as I could get in here.
How would you manage these speakers in a room which has an off center vaulted ceiling? If I do them on the ceiling one would be 13' high and 9' to the left of my main sitting chair which is very close to dead center of the TV and LCR speakers. The other ceiling speaker would on the opposite vaulting wall coming down to 8' high and about 5' to the right of my center seat. Same distance in front. Another thought is to mount them on the available side walls . The height would be 8' but the left wall is about 13' away from the center viewing/listening chair and the right wall would be about 5' away. Now if I use the front wall where the TV is mounted I can place them above the L&R speakers about 8 -10' high and they would be focusing dead center and down towards my center chair which is about 10' away from that wall. Thoughts?
I honestly would mount them on the front wall, since they are going to be 8 to 10 feet high, and focusing towards the center chair, are going to produce the best effects, remember these aren't putting out floor layout sounds, just height effects... so you want the elevations as high as you can get them but no more than about 10 feet. Any more and they can be hard to dial in, you do want them focused dead center if you can get them, some rooms need them pointed just down, not really at the listening position, but use the shape of them to your advantage, take what you can get from downward over exactly towards you, you might notice that they sound better reflecting off soft surfaces, than just right towards the main center listening position. Since the ceiling is vaulted, take the front wall.
The front mounts would be most symmetrical for certain. One other question what are your thoughts of using these with other brands which are your LCR? Do you think the work well, or doesn't matter what your LCR are? Lots of manufactures will say, you should use all timber matching speakers for surrounds and height. Agree, disagree?
Gary Karczewski I think that is something that SVS thought of during development, but they're still definitely going to sound best match with other SVS speakers but they really do sound similar to Klipsch and Polk which have a similar nature to say elac KEF and monitor audio as well. I think that comes down to the sensitivity somewhat and how efficient they can be compared to the other speakers in the room. Paired with a cheap set of Sony speakers from 15 years ago equals horrible results but decent speakers bought within the last 5 years I can't see a problem at all... they're pretty similar.
It is your correct, weather you power them with 50 watts or 1000 rms, it all depends on the output of the preamp voltage rms not peak. The height channels do benefit from external amps, but most receivers require one to drive all 11 or 13 speakers/channels
Using a Dan D Augustino amp,Krell pass labs, wouldn't make much of a difference since I'm using an avr which is not meant as a main pre amp. Using rca connections is the worst way to power these anyway. XLR balanced cables should be used for the best quality...
hi there...I'm considering getting a pair of SVS elevation to use as rear height speakers...but I see in your video that you have placed yours on the side walls- Firing across the MLP...is this the best placement for Atmos? I already have a pair of Bookshelf speakers as front height speakers...maybe if I get the SVS I should place them at the front and then move my current bookshelf speakers to the back along the side walls? do you set them as Rear Height or Top rear? thanks
You can also mount them overhead with their optional ceiling bracket, which would be best. You must securely mount them, however. Otherwise, mount them on the side walls, but make sure you use the Top Front and Top Rear Dolby Atmos positions in the receiver setup... just slide them to the side walls if you can't put them overhead. That's actually better than front and rear heights as that tends to just make the front and rear lower layer of speakers sound taller rather than objects panning around you.
I would get the prime speakers but I have all Polk audio speakers and don't want to mismatch. Idk why Polk won't make eleavation speakers instead of making all these damn sound bars
Honestly I am guessing they eventually will just to catch up to the market, $100 says Klipsch will now come up with something to compete with SVS. I certainly understand matching all of the brands the same which is why the elevations fit well in my room here, but tonal matching is important.
I wouldn't really worry about matching too much. I think that as long as you have similar tweeter designs should be okay. I would personally be more hesitant to mix horns and metal dome tweeters but even then your years would get used to it.
So why not get small Polk Audio shelf speakers and mount them upside down so the tweeter is on the bottom with adjustable wall mounts that you can tilt down and aim them like these? You can unscrew the keyhole mount on the back of a speaker and mount that upside down too. Seems easy to replicate this style of speaker.
Because people whine about the look of speakers in the living room deing embarassing despite speakers have been in living rooms for over 50 years, and they know these whiners deserve a crappy soundbar.
I'm thinking of getting these for a 5.2.2 system. Would these work well at the front setup as height speakers for Atmos/dts-x? I'm currently using bi-pole speakers as my surround speakers placed to the left and right of my seating position.
These would work great as front height or rear. Depending on the amp used to drive them, it wouldn't make a difference rear or front. Some 9 Channel AV receivers power the front height speakers only with onboard amplifiers and require external amplifiers for rear Heights.
Do some research, SVS are not the only company that makes an angled hight speaker. Klipsch, Dali, are 2 speaker companies of the top of my head that makes them.
Thinking about using the prime elevations as my front heights and the prime satellites as my rear heights would that be a good idea or just spend the extra coin and by all 4 prime elevation speakers
If you have the money get the elevations for all 4. I made the choice to slowly ease into the height speakers so using the prime satellites is the exact same thing, just different shape. However the shape does make the speaker seem louder and more noticeable with the same amps. So I say the elevations speakers noticeably sound different than the satellites. With Dolby Atmos or DTS X height information that is...
Frequency response as well as tonal balance and accuracy would be a great fit with these speakers. The ELAC Debut series are very similar to the SVS prime family of speakers, also the KEF Q series and the Monitor audio bronze and silver series. I believe they would work great and you could not tell them apart.
Tactical Audio Video what about pioneer ebs73lr I realize it has atmos speakers built in but I really don’t like the bouncing speakers would the svs work better than the bouncing speakers in mine?
You cant install the SVS elevation as an in ceiling either but at least on the ceiling, what happens when you the just hang the klipsch speakers on the wall near the ceiling? how do they sound? I am sure somebody has taken a driver and just installed it in the ceiling to see how it sounds. The bounce speakers just seem to be lacking power from the amp in general.
I'm interested in these speakers to use them as simple surrounds on the side walls, but I would like to know if they can be Xover at 80 Hz with the subwoofer without losing a part of the sound message or should they be cut higher?
I just bought the satellite instead of the elevation to save $. Is there really a big difference between the sat and elevation? Couldn’t I just angle the sat same as the elevation?
Ryan Pons I really looked at doing that myself, testing the satellites instead, and beyond some subtle sounds and details they are pretty much the same besides the shape. If you angle the satellites towards you it should give you similar sound it's just that the elevations have a bit more bass cuz there's more cabinet to them. The elevations mount on the wall or ceiling but very similar
Would you say these speakers are designed more as height speakers rather than Atmos or DTS:X? I understood that Atmos and DTS:X are best on or in the ceiling?
Graham Oliver these speakers are designed to be used as height speakers definitely for Dolby Atmos and DTS X. The other speakers out there that looks similar especially from Klipsch and other companies are actually Dolby Atmos modules so those are meant to sit on top of your Tower speakers and shoot the sound up at the ceiling and Bounce Down. These are actually meant to mount on the ceiling as well.
You can put these anywhere you really want to, especially on the front wall.. I am buying a second pair of the white ones to put on my front wall instead of the satellites. You can even put them on the ceiling and point straight down.
Hey thanks for trying but SVS sounds much better than this...maybe its your mic, or your camera, but your explanation of Dolby Atmos, and this speaker system just convinces me to give SVS a serious trial when I'm ready to get my system.
Yes I do, you can set them at rear heights or surround heights, since they are on the side of me instead of behind me I have them set at surround heights technically. You can't run both at the same time though, Dolby atmos calls for 4 height speakers in total, and now I have them set where I want them at least in this room. In a much larger room I might want them set behind me at rear height instead of surround heights.
Tactical Audio Video set to rear heights instead, they sound better 😉, been running mine for 1.5 yrs since I reviewed then for my HT group. Use them for Atmos, dtsx and Auro3D.
Any speaker you can hang on the wall. Some sound better than others and the complicated ones don't work well at all. Any bookshelf or satellite speaker will work!
Those are very similar, concentric drivers with tweeter in the middle, I would love to try those out some day. A little smaller, very nice speakers as well.
Too bad you didn't have any luck with up-firing Atmos speakers. My Klipsch Atmos speakers have been a welcome addition to my setup, and the best selling point was sitting them on top of my towers.....done! Also, with my system being all Klipsch made it an easy decision to buy the RP-140SA up-firing speakers.
All the wires to every speaker except the front L R and Center, are going into the floor behind the receiver, and coming up behind the couch, and then ran along the trim, tucked in and then coming down into the speakers, without fastening the wires though, they don't stay hidden always but tucked behind the trim running along the top of the wall. It is odd having trim along the ceiling like this but I tried to use it to my advantage.
You pay all that money for some atmos speakers $ 500:00, and you could have been blown away with some regular book shelf speakers! You people like wasting money.
I have a 14.2 Mirage setup. I have used Mirage for the past 20 years and have never had the need to change.
How do you like it?
I would love to have a bunch of those elevation speakers. SVS is such a great company!
Theses are fantastic atmos speakers
hola que sintoamplificador tienes ?
Nasty! 😍💪👍✌ I'll have 4 of them next on my upgrading shopping list Many thanks for the info... UK
Dali produce a height speaker for Dolby atmos and the sound can be directed forward or with a flick of a switch can be directed slightly donward Dali altico c1
I'll look those up, I have always wanted speakers you could aim in certain directions.
Great review...and very nice to hear some classic Blues from the late, great Master... Riley B. King...!

I have a set of the Q 100 and 200 bookshelf speakers and love them for music
i just wanted to point out there's other options for elevation type speakers. But it seems to be a fairly new concept
Klipsch has the RP-500SA which has higher SPL as also same design
About the height speaker placement, when the side heights are connected to an A/V receiver, do you assign them as Top Middle or Rear Height? And is there a difference in audio quality when using one of each? Plz reply if u see this.
With your couch against the wall did you just mount them about the middle of cushion of couch on the side walls .
Great video! Great speakers! I wish that my speaker's manufacturer would make something like this.
Thanks man! I think we will see other companies competing soon, at least with something similar. I am really surprised by the difference these offered over my last speakers.
Great vid. How about these vs the Klipsch 500SA elevation speakers? Which one is better?
I used an any position I only have one pair. I used them also up fire and they works well.
I think with. One pair the best option is to mount them on the side height or front height.
They are amazing.
I want to get the other pair
So did you have these mounted as rear side height channels?
Great sound and very nice speakers😊👍
Thank you, I really like the SVS combination for movies and music...
Basically giving them an extra 6-in distance from rear wall to the back of the reflex ports,, I swear the bass I'm now experiencing has improved quite noticeably...
ua-cam.com/video/xvdqI5qZa6g/v-deo.html
they are looking almost the same as the Klipsch RP-140SA and sorry to tell you but they are not the only Dolby Atmos speaker on the market
Again you are right the Yamaha is not and can not be a pre-Amp of course the Denon 6400 his great and have enough power to go alone but i wasn't sure .Anyway i will go with the Denon receaver alone first and tell you all about it cause i think to that both Klipsch and SVS are a perfect match .:)Can wait:)Again thanks for you're wisdom and keep up the good work !!
but there are the best
I'm thinking about getting these for Atmos. I recently bought an Atmos receiver. Easy to install even for Mr. All thumbs like me? I only have room for them on my wall behind my TV.
I thought you might want to know that my system is nearly identical except my heights are the svs satellites aimed down at the same angle. Playing this video did not sound all that great, I think a lot was lost from the recording device. I love my system. Only speakers I've heard that beat them so far are the GoldenEar 5's
Same as the prime satellite. Buy a bracket that allows you to angle the svs prime satellite towards the seating position and save yourself some $$.
Great set up Bro.
Polk has a really good Dipole Bipole Surround
Check out the mew RP-500SA
lawrence09151 I placed them on top of the speakers and configured them as Dolby Atmos enabled speakers on my Denon AVR-X4400H.
A
Hallo, do you hand them and what wall holder did you use?
In the Marantz did you assign these as 'height' or 'atmos' speakers?
should they not point straight down?
Why did you have the Prime Elevation speakers pointed sideway? I thought it suppose to point toward where you seat? Like at an angle....
they are pointing to where I sit, in the middle of the couch, and I wanted them off of the back wall to be able to distinguish between surround back channels and Surround rear height channels. In a typical Atmos or object based setup the speakers would be in the ceiling more or less directly above the listener or behind. But since this is on the side wall pointing towards the couch in the center it gives a more realistic engaging feel that's more cinematic ultimately.
in the receiver what setting you must choose?
it looks like they are set to close to the back wall ? they should be just infront of your head if you have them in a 5.1.2 setup
Very Awesome and Cool. Glad it worked out for you!
How does this fare against SVS Ultra Surround. Can the surround be used as height speakers? Which one will be a better fit for height speakers?
Why would you push those with an emotiva amp they are only height speakers and I’d assume minimal wattage would be necessary
DO you think these would pair well with my old PSB IMAGE 4T and 2B from over a decade ago?
Would go with satellite or elevation for rear speakers in a bedroom!?
Jbl is easy to install, they not use ceiling circle speakers by box.
hi there...I'm considering getting a pair of SVS elevation to use as rear height speakers...but I see in your video that you have placed yours on the side walls- Firing across the MLP...is this the best placement for Atmos? I already have a pair of Bookshelf speakers as front height speakers...maybe if I get the SVS I should place them at the front and then move my current bookshelf speakers to the back along the side walls? do you set them as Rear Height or Top rear? thanks
You can also mount them overhead with their optional ceiling bracket, which would be best. You must securely mount them, however. Otherwise, mount them on the side walls, but make sure you use the Top Front and Top Rear Dolby Atmos positions in the receiver setup... just slide them to the side walls if you can't put them overhead. That's actually better than front and rear heights as that tends to just make the front and rear lower layer of speakers sound taller rather than objects panning around you.
i have front height and no works well
I would get the prime speakers but I have all Polk audio speakers and don't want to mismatch.
Raymond Leggs that made no sense whatsoever
Hi, can I place these on my front and left speakers for Dolby Atmos? TIA
Yes you can.
Some 9 Channel AV receivers power the front height speakers only with onboard amplifiers and require external amplifiers for rear Heights.
perphase u may try procella audio speakers
『procella audio p1』indeed
Do some research, SVS are not the only company that makes an angled hight speaker. Klipsch, Dali, are 2 speaker companies of the top of my head that makes them.
No the klipsch ones are meant for atmos as ceiling bounce and the wall mount is just for surround speakers
Check Dali Alteco C1. It's much more versatile.
Ughhh?! U ever heard of KLIPSCH!!? Been around longer than SVS🤕
Any horn loaded model outside of Klipsch's THX Ultra speakers and above have very harsh and fatiguing treble reproduction. Nasty stuff.
@@dan_hitchman007 not harsh for home theater. I actually prefer the highs of Klipsch in a home theater setting.
Hi, are these speakers compatible with the ELAC Debut 5.1 series? ELAC’s height speakers (ELAC A4) is completely rubbish!
@@tacticalAVwhat’s your crossover for those height speakers?
cant you install the SVS prime like in ceiling speaker ? i got the klipsch one and i hate the up firing but i cant instal it as in ceiling
Yes, you can use them as on-ceiling speakers. SVS has brackets you can order when you buy them on their website.
I'm interested in these speakers to use them as simple surrounds on the side walls, but I would like to know if they can be Xover at 80 Hz with the subwoofer without losing a part of the sound message or should they be cut higher?
What crossover setting do you have the height speaker set at?
I'd set the Prime Elevations at 80 Hz.
Tactical Audio Video thanks
Hi. Do they have to be on the side wall? Or can i put them on the front wall?
You can put these anywhere you really want to, especially on the front wall.. I am buying a second pair of the white ones to put on my front wall instead of the satellites. You can even put them on the ceiling and point straight down.
Tactical Audio Video ok. Good to know. Thank you.
Hey thanks for trying but SVS sounds much better than this...maybe its your mic, or your camera, but your explanation of Dolby Atmos, and this speaker system just convinces me to give SVS a serious trial when I'm ready to get my system.
Sony core series look similar, I know this is old though.
Do you have them set as rear heights?
Yes I do, you can set them at rear heights or surround heights, since they are on the side of me instead of behind me I have them set at surround heights technically. You can't run both at the same time though, Dolby atmos calls for 4 height speakers in total, and now I have them set where I want them at least in this room. In a much larger room I might want them set behind me at rear height instead of surround heights.
Tactical Audio Video set to rear heights instead, they sound better 😉, been running mine for 1.5 yrs since I reviewed then for my HT group.
Use them for Atmos, dtsx and Auro3D.
Is that true? You have to have run 4 height speakers to receive Dolby Atmos?
Can i use normal speaker as Height for atmos ?
Any speaker you can hang on the wall. Some sound better than others and the complicated ones don't work well at all. Any bookshelf or satellite speaker will work!
The_Old Bat of course you can. Originally Dolby and DTS used tradional bookshelf speakers to creat 3 D sound for height channels
Please research on xtz s2.
Someone at your door 😂
Klipsch is releasing an SVS Elevation rip off speaker this year. Announced it at CES.
I cant place those speakers on my wall, can i place the speakers on my ceiling?
Yes. You can order their free optional ceiling mounting brackets.
Where’s the wires?
All the wires to every speaker except the front L R and Center, are going into the floor behind the receiver, and coming up behind the couch, and then ran along the trim, tucked in and then coming down into the speakers, without fastening the wires though, they don't stay hidden always but tucked behind the trim running along the top of the wall. It is odd having trim along the ceiling like this but I tried to use it to my advantage.
You pay all that money for some atmos speakers $ 500:00, and you could have been blown away with some regular book shelf speakers! You people like wasting money.
Dolby Atmos means nothing to me.
Gimme 5.1 or 7.1 of properly placed hi end dynamic spreaker set up, and im good!
Alexander Scott you’ve apparently never heard Atmos. You can add high channels to a 7.1 system....
@@GucciGamerTV Yep i have! The Imax is better
Alexander Scott because your setup isn’t good enough to compete with IMAX unfortunately.
@@GucciGamerTV oh ! You'd like to tell me about my setup, ey?! Love to hear this!!
Go ahead ..ill wait
Alexander Scott i.... I just did...
