Because you eliminate all the noise and interference of the amplification . See you.

This doesn't only apply to their newer receivers. My father owned a Denon DRA-375RD since the late 90s, last week he gave it to me because he bought a new one. Even though it's now more than 20 years old, the device still works like a charm. The inputs are more than sufficient for my usage and the sound quality is excellent. I’ve owned Denon and Pioneer Elite both are excellent. I even had great luck with Sherwood in the past. I have not had good experience with Onkyo, and neither have people I know that all eventually dumped them for something else. My brother likes Denon and Yamaha, but on the same set of speakers I think his Denon sounded better than the Yamaha he upgraded too for Atmos. Yamaha audio reproduction always seems a little too sharp and bright, not treble heavy, but just focusing more on higher frequencies and muddying the mids, and it can’t be fixed with an equalizer. Might just be a receiver/speaker pairing issue for him.

@@joentell Hey Joe I like most of your videos, just wasn't impressed with this one and agreed with Shannon.
As for #2, yes it lasted 9 years. The reason I won't be getting another one I experienced a poor warranty situation early on. Lots of these qualities seem pretty common with most modern receivers. That being said my next receiver may be a Denon. Onkyo used to have great FM tuners and were very durable. So I recently bought a Onkyo 5 disc CD player from the Best Buy showroom--but it starts skipping about 19 minutes into a disc. Years ago I bought a $1,000 Denon 5.1 receiver after about 10 years, it developed a noisy channel. Driving a 4ohm speaker is important to me too. Waiting to see what the HDMI 2.1 implementation is on 2020 receivers.

I bought a refurbished Onkyo TX NR656 about a year ago. It was about $225 USD and it’s 7.2 . It has all the features I need, including some I don’t, like ATMOS.
What you didn’t speak of is sound signature. Yamaha, for example, traditionally has a more “rolled off” upper mid and high range, which is less punchy and perceived as more “warm”. Onkyo was and still is more punchy and upfront sounding, on average.
I think the Denon sound signature is more punchy now also- similar to Onkyo. Sony would be in that category now too. It would be good to speak to this topic rather than only what features they have. Also in how to match them with certain speaker brands, which are all slightly different.
I like, for example, the more punchy and up-front sound signature with no rolled off highs. Not everyone will like that, however.
As such, I have mostly Klipsch R series speakers (base model, but far better than the old Ikon/Synergy line) running off my Onkyo, and am very pleased.

My 7 channel Onkyo TX-NR737 (before HDR support) was my first "real" home audio system. It was amazing! I first tried to upgrade to the latest (9 channel) Onkyo RZ830 and I returned it for various reasons. I ended up getting a Denon AVR-X4400H and like it too. I think the Onkyos sound better for 2 channel audio, but do not handle surround sound as well. The Denon seems to produce more sound in various surround sound modes. The Onkyos seem to produce a better phantom image and sound stage, especially the RZ830. That had a great 2 channel sound. Sticking with Denon and am considering getting some separate higher end mono amplifiers (PS Audio Stellar) to power my mains.

I plugged it in and it powered on so I took the gamble. Brought it home and everything works fine on it. This is the first modern receiver I’ve owned and I was surprised by all the options and features. I have all my gaming consoles and Blu-ray running through it. Sometimes I’ll even hook up my turntable when I’m getting bored of the realistic receiver. I don’t see myself upgrading anytime soon since I’m satisfied by its performance. I have the Marantz 6012 because it was cheaper than the Denon 4400 at the time I bought. The main reason for me going Denon/Marantz was the ability to limit room correction to only below the Schroeder frequency, which are the only frequencies where room correction provides a benefit. The only other systems that allow this are expensive, high end processors.

In my many receiver sound quality comparisons over many years, with all neutral tone settings,
      the Yamaha’s were consistently brighter,
      more forward,
      usually less/lower reproduction of bass,
      giving a thinner sound.
(This is their reputation also, it’s well known.
So people who like more emphasis on highs/treble response go for Yamaha.)
      Denon and Marantz are known
      for more solid, thick,
      meaty bass,
      and a warmer sound,
      (while still being
open and clear in the highs.)
      This is what I like,
so I’ve had Denon for a long time.
I’d love to know more about how
      Denon/Marantz
      compare to

@@joentell It is tough to quantify. Especially as I formed my opinion unscientifically several years ago and have stuck with Denon since. I wasn't blind testing, either, just switching the whole system out and using for days at a time. I just got the impression the Yamaha sound was a bit 'flat', compared to the Denon's more fuller sound. With Gallo Nucleus ref. speakers back in the day, I also felt the Denon offered a much clearer soundstage. Since I've stuck to speakers with decent tweeters and top-of-the-range Denon amps, (I used to pick them up used for a fraction of their original price as each new model came out with an extra codec or two, the high-end crowd would upgrade and dump their 1-gen-old $3,000 model for a few hundred bucks.) I haven't needed a centre speaker. People don't believe me at first when I tell them that, when they can clearly hear voices/instruments (seemingly) coming right out of the TV screen.

I have to disagree. I own a Denon AVR-X2300, it replaced a Sony STR-DN1040, and while the Denon has a lot of features (I bought it for the Dolby Atmos compatibility) and it has decent sound, the Sony's sound was better. I'd also recommend people look at Yamaha's offerings. However, no matter who recommends what you're buying to what your ear likes hearing so do some listening tests if you can.
BTW, for the price of a Denon x*300 you could buy a PS Audio Sprout 100, which is much better sounding still, but much more limitee on features.

    • @greatpix
      @greatpix 5 років тому

@@joentell besides better sounding for music and films (and for that you'll have to do a listening test to decide if I'm right or not) there's the more modern graphical interface, and using the automated speaker setup is faster, and easier than Audessey's (spelling). It's pretty tough too. I brought it over to a friend's house a few months after I bought it and a friend of his accidentally fell on it and sort of crushed it. I took it to the local Sony authorized repair shop, cost $75 to have the chassis pounded back into shape and electronics checked to be sure I wouldn't electrocute myself and the Sony kept on going and sounding just fine. It still wobbled on a flat surface but a couple pieces of cardboard under one of the feet fixed that. I'd still be using it but Dolby Atmos came out and I wanted the feature. Denon was one of the first to offer Atmos so I bought it and a set of those add-on Atmos cap speakers and liked it. I sold the Sony, told the buyer about its accident, and they still bought it for $200. I ran into the guy a year ago and told him I should have kept it. He loves it. The newest model, the Sony 1080, is the top pick, over the Denon and Marantz, Onkyo, Yamaha, etc over at What Hi-Fi. It has Atmos and all the other bells and whistles. I'll say one thing, if it's in your budget, which will have to be a lot more, check out PS Audio. I had their old Elite Plus, integrated amp that I bought new when it came out in the late 70's or early 80's. It had been sitting in the garage for 20 years and for a lark I brought it in and hooked it up to my system, and it blew the Denon out of the water as far as sound. I ended up selling the PS Audio gear to someone in another state for $500 , he's a genuine golden ear audiophile too, worked with some of the greats, like John Iverson.
Anyways, go audition the Sony or if you have deep pockets, the PS Audio. (I've been eyeing their new Sprout 100 integrated amp that's about $500-$600, the same ballpark as the Sony or similar Denon, and going back to listening in stereo, but REALLY GOOD stereo. )

Highs to hear people speaking and a lot of bass to hear the booms in the movie. All with out breaking the bank. $200 - $350 range. $350-500 range setup. MAY you do a break down on this???

I have the X1300W which was Denon's entry level atmos, dtsx receiver back in 2016 which gives a great bang for your buck with movies, not so good with 2 channel (Direct) stereo for music though, so for lossles music audio i use the centre spread option.

Manufacturer does not matter when you spend $1000 on a receiver they’re all the same competitive price and features.
I’ve sold a Yamaha for years and the main reason is because They are bulletproof service wise. This is not to say that Denon & Marantz don’t make great products as well.

I want the sony str-dn1080 with ONKYO SKS-HT588 or the Onkyo SKS-HT978. Or is it better to go with a denon or a Marantz with one of these? I like the sony becouse it is just 499 for what you get. Or Sould I go with the Marantz SR5013 or the denon avr-x3500h. Or is the Sony good with my speaker choises? Or should I go for the Onkyo HT-S9800
(receiver + Onkyo SKS-HT978) or the Onkyo HT-S7805 (receiver + Dolby atmos speakers). I want the best experience for Gaming, UA-cam, Music and movie, with one of dose speakers.

How is Audyssey in the Pioneer, Sony, Yamaha and Onkyo receivers? Oh yeah, they don't have that! That was the main reason I went with Denon in the first place. Please don't try to say that YPAO, AccuEQ MCACC, or DCAC is in the same league. They might have improved since the last time I've tried them, but most reviews say those suck in comparison.

@@joentell I agree with Ezequiel as well. You obviously agree with him that 90% of what you said are in all the other brands of AV Receivers so maybe making a video called, "Two great reasons why I prefer a Denon AV Receiver over another brand", would have made for a more "to the point" video.

Hi, my first real stereo was a Marantz 2230, I wish I still had it now, A G.A.S. Integrated Amp, a Onkyo tuner then I got out of stereos for a while by then i had a Sony receiver and a couple Polk speakers. Then surround sound came out, I got a Sony HTIB Dream System then another, now those are gone, I have 2 Blu - Ray HTIB, I just got my first Denon, a avr-s650h I'm going to hook up it to a JBL SCS-150 5.1 System, I can't wait to get it running! I somehow acquired about 170 dvd's and a few Blu - ray disks (I'm into physical media)! Now I'm trying to find a vintage DVD 5 disk Carousel player and a stand alone Blu - ray player! Any info you have would be greatly appreciated! Good video, thanks!

Denon is my first recommendation as well, even used back to x1200/x2200. Then x3300/x4200 for the upgraded audyssey and after that the nad t758 v3 with dirac that competes in price with the high end denon and marantz.
I had a thing for the marantz 6012, I like the size, look and features, but wound up going with the nad. Menu system is nowhere near the denon/marantz which I would say is another plus for them and the remote isnt on the same level either.
Great idea about the late night mode.
