My problem with the new packaging is that it is not that good for this type of product. You normally use it for things like glass, dishes, headphones, etc., to avoid damaging a different density. You can ask the action figure collectors( Marvel, DC, Transformers, etc.) how much they hate this because the figure arrives with scratch paint or has to be refunded because they didn't know the figure was damaged until they opened it.
Yeah you pretty much HAVE to open the figure right away so that you can be sure it's safe. Many times I'll have figures sitting around in boxes because I like to make haul videos and usually that's fine because I can see the figures are fine through the windows. This now gets in the way of the filming process for me, which is a very specific issue but still
Removing the plastics/blister of the packaging makes the entire structure very fragile. To me, the blistering plastics is the "bone" for the box of nendos. I spoke from concern because in the past Ive had figures delivered in damaged shipping box and dented package box while the blister is what saved my figure from any further damage then it already had.
I got a figure of Daiwa Scarlet directly from GSC like a year ago and the shipping box was in horrid condition. Looked like it was ran over or something. Of course the figures box also took a brutal beating but surprisingly the figure's only damage was that one of her gold buttons popped out. No way she woulda survived in a cardboard box instead. Blisters are just infinitely better and I hate that they're taking them away
I just wish the nendoroids would be as cheap as this box looks like. What hurts the most for me is not even the change, but that they did this with nendoroids we pre-ordered a long time ago, and we had no idea this would happen with them. I'm pretty disappointed, but at least I can use this as a reason to finally cut back with my nendoroid orders. Well, I will see it soon in person with the Kurisu 2.0
Yeah I hate that we all got blindsided by this. Even if in this specific instance it wouldn't have mattered much because it was Taiga but I just don't love how they announced all of this like 2 weeks before she came out. Hopefully you enjoy your Kurisu Nendo though
I think that is what they are trying to do so you can buy their *new* storage confainer coming 2025, just you wait. If not a new cotainer storage then pushing for the mini ones they do sell
I think they should have at least done the Pop Up Parade Line first they use WAY more plastic then the Nendos the whole box is plastic and they are bigger too! They should have tested it out with that line see if there no issues with damages during shipping and customer responses before they go for Nendos. And their quality makes sense for it to be more to a prize figure packaging. Reducing waste and plastic I'm all good for but I also think they should experiment paper pulp molds to add more structure at least for overseas shipments
Honestly that's a good point. Why DO they make those boxes out of mostly plastic if they are trying to cut back? In fact the only time I DON'T see plastic boxes for Pop Ups is when its an L or Special Version which is equally confusing to me.
Popup Parades have been nothing but a bane that prevents great sculpts and characters from being better articulated. Unfortunately they're profitable enough as is so I'm not surprised GSC won't let their prized pay-to-win prize figurines be all scratched.
This box is very..."Prize figure coded" if that makes sense. This is coming from someone who *mainly collects prize figures,* too. I have a pretty decent collection, and all but my one scale and one pop up parade, and the nendos of course, are all prize figures. And I *love* prize figures, don't get me wrong! But the lack of the window and use of cardboard inside gives this a very "prize figure" feel to it...Except prize figures also have cardboard pieces that keep the figures from being right up against the box usually, so they won't get damaged of something damages the box...It makes me worried for the Jaden nendo I have on preorder...I was just worried about Amazon canceling the preorder because they didn't get enough(something I've heard of amazon JP doing, but idk if amazon US does it too) and you know, worried about him being ugly since the prototype is a little...Weird looking...But not knowing if he'll get here *safe* is gonna be a new worry...
I dont have great luck with Amazon Japan but I will say considering the downgraded protection of the new box I would have assumed GSC would use more packing materials for the shipping box. I probably should have said something in the video but that box was very snug so any mishap during transit would have very likely caused some issues with Taiga's Nendo
i actually had i think my maomao and jinshi keychain cancelled on Amazon us cause not enough stock right when it was coming out as well. i got em in end when it came back but still
i feel that with windowless boxes it'll be easier than ever to get scammed with bootlegs, especially if you buy figs from ebay/mercari the amount of sellers on ebay alone passing off obvious bootlegs as authentic figs is crazy
@@ZuccoFigures yeah i mean if you know what you're buying it's not much of an issue but people who don't regularly buy nendos will have a harder time than ever. also even if someone is selling an authentic fig, they can easily forget to include or purposely not include a part and there is zero ways to tell you're getting a complete fig now.
Totally agree with you on it being fine until a complaint has to be made. It shouldn't even have to reach that point but we'll just have to wait and see. Loving the new setup btw
As mostly a Nendo guy, I too am worried about my one current Nendoroid currently on pre-order, (the Ultimate Madoka reissue.) I was really hoping to see the og 2013 box on that one get reissued along with it! (I guess with the Nendo doll line doing windowless boxes for a while now, it was just a matter of time.)
Ok, so everything is secure before opening and assembling the Nendo, but not so much when you need to put everything back. You might have to tape the spare parts plastic bag in order to not make things fly inside the box... Same for spare faceplates; feel tedious to put them back secured. Well, I guess GSC is clearly sending a message here with this new box: you really have to commit to display your nendo once you open the box. No turning back, or you're in for some trouble. Also, I am not fond of the new base; I do mot care about the center holes being gone (I've never used them), but the height will be a problem for a collection. In my case, some of my Umamusume girls will stand lower than the oldest ones, which will not look that good when displayed together.
Tape is useful yeah. the little bag for the base was taped but the accessories I had to cut up so I rolled it up and stuck in the other little bag for the time being. Thinking about it, yeah the height difference is probably gonna bug me. Wasn't on my mind when making this video tho
Not a fan of the new box. It just increases the risk of the figure/parts getting damaged. I also saw it pointed out that they claim this change is to "reduce plastic waste" and yet now they have to add that styrofoam padding, which is more likely to be thrown away than the blister packs were... idk man. I don't have a strong opinion on the new base, because I never liked Nendo bases anyway, lol. Usually get easel stands to use instead.
Sorry, as much as I want to be positive about this, my disappointment is getting the best of me. As I had said elsewhere, I consider the box part of the Nendoroid experience. I can't count the number of times I was enticed to buy a Nendoroid after peeking through the it's window to look at the figure and their parts. Never once did I feel the same looking at the box art. Good Smile is making me cry. 😢
I forgot to point out that this style of Nendoroid stand is not new. I have many Hololive Nendoroids with long hair come with stands that bend the same way. The base is definitely different though. I do use the middle hole for some poses to save space. Their absence will be missed. Not including the special stand unless you order directly from GSC does feel like a slap in the face, especially given how nice it looks and how well it fits the theme of the show. The more I think about it, the more I believe this is a death-by-a- thousand-cuts scenario. It may not be any one change that upsets collectors like me, but the summation of all changes that would collectively increases annoyances to a not-insignificant portion of the community.
Window shopping took a huge hit. I don't wanna have to search up photos and reviews while shopping to know if I want something lol. Not that I get a lot of chances to shop in person for figures, but hey when it DOES happen I doubt I'm gonna stroll by the Nendoroid section
I was wondering how the new Nendroid boxes were going to be designed. I do like the size reduction of the box size. Still I’m unsure about the rest of the design. Probably mostly going to be a problem for people outside of Japan. Since they have to go through shipping. People who like keeping their figures in boxes definitely losing out here which is a bit sad.
Gotta love how it is supposed to be more "eco friendly" but with this box they are pretty much telling us to throw the box away.. which would make MORE trash, the painted cardboard is harder to recycle, and those foam things they are using to cover the pieces cant even be recycled unlike the plastic shell.... which dont even throw away because we dont trash the figure boxes unless they are from price figs. I can see the nendos getting damaged with this box during shipping, or they abusing the fact that you can't see the product to reduce QC just like how hasbro did
I'll give GSC some credit that their customer service is very helpful when you get something damaged, but eventually they'll run out of spare parts or if you bought the figure used you're shit outta luck
Blister packaging is used in many other figure lines because it works! The argument they are trying to make about the environment has no leg to stand on. PUP boxes are ALL plastic and yet they see no problem? This very sudden change is obviously for financial reasons. And they really should have announced this earlier! I know they didn't want to deter people from pre-ordering, but that is just such a shady move.
I hate that my first thought when I saw how she was packaged inside the box was "oh, like how Insight does it". That being said as for the external box, I'm not all that worked up about it. It's just a design preference to me as a scammer isn't stopped by a window anyways.
The problem is that this box was made to save costs, not to help the planet... And the base... wtf? I didn't know about the base change. Also, if they are worried about the planet, why aren't changing the PUP boxes????
As a man who didn't really buy nendoroids except for rare exceptions, this just makes me really sad not because it's all cost cutting for the sake of the bigwigs to retain their profit margins, while we just get a worse product, but because when I get the FuwaMoco nendoroids, I'll just be sad at how it will inevitably get damaged as my local post office hates me for giving them business.
@@ZuccoFigures I feel like it's a city thing since my friend just got an old DS game shipped to him and after he got it, it straight up looks like it was run over and then fell into a some guys pool.
Thanks for showing it! Now, I really know that I will never buy a nendo again until the change back to the old packaging. At least, my nendo addiction finally ends and my wallet is happy, thanks Good Smile 😂
I genuinely wonder if they would revert back to the older boxes. They've definitely heard all the complaints by now but I would at the very least expect to see these new boxes stick around for a bit
I tend to throw away all the Nendo boxes anyway cuz they take up so much space. But my problem with the new boxes is (like everyone said) no window. I think having a window lets you see if there are flaws before you open it AND you can display them in the box if they’re a rare figure. I am glad the boxes are getting smaller tho.
thank you for sharing this! was wondering how the new boxes will be like. sad to see that they are quite different in size from the previous nendo box. now the windowless box feels like the other nendo goods boxes like nendoroid dolls / swacchao. but good to know the peg is improved. some of my nendos tend to somersaut when i try adjusting the peg cos its so tight. but now it looks so smooth and adjusting seems to be much easier now. glad for this news.
It's an issue now since if i ever were to buy a nendoroid with that box, it makes it harder to tell if its a real vs fake aside the stamp/sticker. Should have reduce the size of the box instead of making it all cardboard.
Careful with the nose if you store the alternative face plates inside the box. I've seen other reviewer showing it really close to touch the inside of the box. The matte finish might turned glossy over time by the friction.
I don’t really have much to say about the box change itself. I like the smaller size, since it looks a lot easier to store. I do have worries about being scammed when buying second hand but I’m not sure if anything is going to really change with that. A lot of the ways people could scam someone could still happen in the older boxes. I’m not too happy about the new cardboard blister. It just needs some more protection than what it currently has. Someone else mentioned if their Hokusai Nendoroid had come in that box things would been damaged and they’re right. I also have the Hokusai Nendoroid and I don’t want to think about what could have happened if she’d come in that. Putting them back in the box also looks like a pain in the ass. The real crime is the lack of accessories for newer nendoroids. Great for my wallet, bad for me when my favorite characters come with ✨nothing✨as accessories. The new room looks great btw! It was fun to listen to you talk about Taiga while looking at the Taiga shelf. Have a happy November!
We need someone to sell custom boxes to mimic old ones... As a nendoroid collector, this is an absolute deal breaker.. The window was the most important thing of the packaging..
I like the new box for storing. I always hated putting figures back on the plastic blister and the new size looks cute. But box art could have a better design
I want to see how long it will last. I’m a Hasbro 6in collector and plastic-free package didn’t last long and hurt the company profit. Sorry Nendoroids collector
No window? Wow, what a let down I know I'm not alone in this but I like the outgoing box since I like to see the figure without opening the box (don't know if that's a weird take). Good thing Mai 2417 was in the outgoing box.
I swear to God if mh Katsushika Hokusai nendo came with that package Her ornament behind her hair would've gotten crushed FOR SURE in one unboxing, I hate them Sorry for being so pessimistic, but I know won't take imto consideration purchasing another nendo until they at least give us proper packaging for Nendos with little tiny accessories that are SO delicate (like my Hokusai, as I mentioned before)
Don't worry about it. Alot of people are voicing their concerns and I don't mind you venting here. Intricate designs are gonna be a big issue but I'm just going to assume they'll make "special cases" for specific characters and figures.
Thank you for your review I just cancelled my Taiga 2.0, Kurisu 2.0, and Yoko 2.0 pre-order on Amiami since these nendoroids are implementing the new box and stand designs. Honestly don't like the direction GSC is going with these new box designs and new stand displays. Bases on GSC newsletter the change is not finalized and I'm guessing it's because they want to see how much sells are affected with this change. I can't support them continually downgrading the nendoroid line year by year.
I wish they made more Etna figures. That one Etna Volks Garage Kit has always been one I wanted but I'm not confident in my painting skills yet. I appreciate the one I got though just because it's her original design which feels kinda forgotten at this point
It looks and feels like a prize figure box :< (no hate I'm a prize figure collector myself. it's just that I personally like nendos with their windows cuz it makes em extra special)
Ok, so it's been thrown around, how easily the figures inside are not really safe, despite the styrofoam padding. But my biggest takeaway is, that we will have a hard time distinguishing between original and fakes, now that we can no longer see, what's inside. Which also means that everything we will buy secondhand comes with an even higher risks to end up with a bootleg one.
Mainly a hololive nendo collector and disappoint in the change since the newer ones will look much different in the collection :( also the old ones looks better being able to see all the accessories that come with it
This is a bad idea for so some collectors. When I received m6 Stan Lee Nendoroid, the box was crushed. Luckily the packing protected it from any further damage.
I don't have much to say about the nendo boxes tbh, I'm still not sure what to think, i just hope it doesn't lead to more damaged nendos. Btw I love that Etna I also have her ❤
Love that Etna figure, but mine needs a cleaning lol. Age hasn't been too kind to her and I've never had to wash a scale figure before so I've been putting it off
UV damage sitting out in the open or lighting of the department store all day with see through plastic window. For example I limit my PSA Anime/yugioh/pokemon/sports cards from excessive lighting or display.
Tbh I can't really be happy about the Nendroids as of late... Its pretty obvious they're cutting costs for blister packaging and such because they're trying to save money while charging the consumer more while they receive less. While the smaller box is one nice thing to come out of the new packaging, for people who preordered figures part of a group such as hololive are now going to have mismatched boxes and styling. The bigger point is that the new boxes only really benefit you if you live in japan. Overseas, boxes has a higher chance of the figure getting damage because cardboard cannot protect smaller pieces or paint chipping. This is a huge issue for nendorids coming from any gacha game, or with more intricate accessories being damaged during the shipping process. realistically I'm most likely not going to be purchasing any newer nendroids unless its an absolute favorite as I don't really support GoodSmile's practices as of late. It feels like nendroids are slowly becoming prize figure quality but demanding a premium because of the brand name.
If Nendoroids were as good as they were a few years ago then I'd probably not mind the change as much but considering the decline in the line and now the boxes are also worse it feels very easy for me to move on unless they announce something that I simply can't refuse
@ZuccoFigures If i really wanted to buy a nendroid from goodsmile, I'd probly do it through amiami since their packaging is alot safer for me (as well as having a good dhl option). It would also be the case for buying used nendroids.
The newer thin bases just seem like they'll quickly become a nightmare, a lot of nendoroids are already too top-heavy to balance well and even as an easel-stand lover I always opt for the square base for those ones to prevent toppling and damage. As someone that owns 200+ nendoroids, this change on top of the packaging changes, increasingly less accessories, poorer quality (I've received several defective/significant paint defects recently), STILL no combined shipping for preorders on the GSCUS online store, and the prices not coming down to match the reduced packaging it's very upsetting, and I've been finding myself preordering and ordering less and less as it's all having a cumulative effect on my enjoyment of the hobby. 💔
The stand was a bit of an afterthought for me while filming but I can agree that the thinner base only seems like a negative to me(I also don't really love how it looks compared to the older one even though its not radically different)
it´s nonsense to think that this would save oceans or something.. it´s also killing trees ;D think about that. the maturity of us collectors are keeping the boxes forever and i just hate how GSC thought this would be a good idea. i think i don´t have to say much cuz many ppl said alrdy what and how i was feeling and thinking about this as well. hopefully GSC hears us out and changes back to how it used to be. i´m open for something new, but not for something so unsecure.
The biggest problem is now I have to open them and mess with all the small parts to display them. The clear plastic before was the perfect excuse to display them in box.
I assume you mean the Taiga art? That was a bonus shikishi board that was given out when you preordered her Wedding dress figure a few years back. One of my favorite things in the collection for sure. The secret though is I have alot more taiga figures on another shelf off camera lol. Too many to fit on one shelf rip
@ZuccoFigures ah~... that's a nice bonus... My kryptonite is def Eva figures... I've somewhat lost track of the number of Rei's and Asuka's I have... they've colonized multiple shelves over the years... >.>
I don’t think this is for reducing plastic waste. Honestly who even throws away the boxes? Im not a hardcore collector and even i keep them. I think it’s just budget cuts making the packaging terrible which is especially obvious with the smaller stand. I really hope this changes in the future because there are times i need to second hand buy and dont want to get scammed
Some people toss the boxes but in most cases I feel like the more you collect the more likely you are to hang on to your boxes. Collector's feel like the last group you need to focus on when it comes to producing waste but what do I know
I'm done with nendoroids... Happend also with hasbro. Almost nobody bought their new package with no plastic and they changed it back :D Everything is for profit.
Pizza box lol😂 Youd think they reduce the cost of the figure just as they reduced the cost of the packaging. Sad they ruined the experience of opening up a figure that doesn't feel like a freaking crane prize. I think they going to start to sell storage containers, like push more for the mini ones or make a new design to store the nendo not just the faces and accessories. Regardless, I will not be buying Nendo line figures from here on. The only PO I have is Blade and thats it. If March new fit comes out I will get her just for the sake of having the HSR consistency in figures because I already own Dan Heng. But Ill continue to put my money towards S.H. Figuarts and scales instead
Yeah the unboxing was pretty unceremonious lol. Like if I wasn't in "filming mode" I would have likely just quickly got Taiga out and push the box to the side never to think about it again lol
This looks... yeah... cheap, honestly. Part of the appeal of Nendoroids was being able to keep them in the boxes if you preferred, to display them that way and keep them in mint condition. I personally take them out to display them, but I completely understand wanting to keep them pristine while still being able to see the figure itself. They are also way too flimsily packaged like this; just looking at the way those faceplates are stored makes me anxious. Seems way too easy now for pieces to become lost after opening those little plastic bags they're in , too (which, also... kind of defeats the purpose of using less plastic, in some way?). I feel like you'll essentially have to use your own zip-up bags to keep them safe when storing them. Another issue others have pointed out that I also agree with is how easy it's now goong to be for resellers to essentially scam people. They could so easily ship it to people with the figure completely missing, pieces missing, and even a completely different figure entirely. Overall, I really do not care for this change at all.
@ZuccoFigures If it was just sans the middle hole, it'd be fine, but it looks 2/3 cm thiner, so they won't be even with older ones. Terrible for displaying nendos
Zucco, can you tell if shipping was at least a little cheaper considering the box size reduction? I feel like this might be the single only positive aspect of all this for the consumer, but if shipping isn't generally cheaper than it's overwhelmingly disappointing. Thank! :)
In this specific instance the shipping was the same because I bought her from the global store which is always a flat rate(18 dollars which is terrible for a nendoroid). I only bought it from them though because of the exclusive base that wasn't on the US store, but apparently they added that base to the US store later so I feel pretty dumb lol. I would assume if you bought from a store that calculates exact shipping the price would be a little cheaper due to size and weight though
It's actually from Kill la Kill. Ryuuko Matoi Souvenir Jacket Ver, but they made a special sleeve for it and sold it at the The World of Hiroyuki Imaishi exhibition. They also sold a handful of them through the global shop though which is where I got it
I don't buy the eco friendly angle. If I had to guess, the majority of people keep their boxes, so the packaging doesn't go into the trash. But now in lieu of plastic, they've added non-recyclable foam and non-recyclable plastic bags to hold the pieces. For material costs, it's negligible to design and produce the plastic packaging because it's just vacuum formed, which is dirt cheap. It's just as expensive to spend more effort into designing cardboard-only packaging that PROPERLY protects the nendoroid, and I can clearly see it's not as well protected as the plastic packaging. With all that being said, my conclusion is just shitty cost cutting. You will definitely sell more product if the buyer can see the nendoroid through the plastic window, but now you can't. Absolutely ridiculous.
That just screams cutting costs. They simply cheapened on manufacturing. Those plastic packages for separate parts are a thing in prize figures, same with no window boxes. But prize figures go for 1,500-3,000 yen when nendos now go for 6,500-8,500 yen. GSC becomes more and more the company to avoid...
I just can't like the new packaging, no window means you don't know if it's busted during shipping without opening it, so say some scummy employee could be like "Nah, it's open thus YOU damaged it, tough luck" if you try to return it or something, there's knowing if something is a knock off or not, the inside seems way too insecure in turns of trying to keep everything protected, and for me, if I HAD to sell one of my Nendoroids for any reason, I like being able to put everything back in it's designated spot quite easily, this new method is going to make that much more difficult, especially when it's in those stupid baggies you can't open without just tearing it up. This is a step way too back and seems that's it's done more just to skimp out on costs and cut corners to save money. As for Taiga herself, while I love the OG Tsundere 3, I'd need to know if Shana and Louise will gets Nendo's in the future before I get her, since I already got a Figure of Taiga to go alongside Figma Shana and this weird movable figure of Louise I got all sitting up on my shelf.
yea soon or later all toys company will try to produce more eco friendly, they sure got a lot of concern about plastic waste or etc ( and ofc less cost of prodcut but same price shameee )
The NEW Box Design not only it lacks windows... but it's looking more AWKWARD. Has Good Smile going backwards in innovation!? Meanwhile Funko gets scot free(even though i HATED Funko Pop Figures a lot. those are soulless and ugly compared to Nendoroids)
Is it actually Styrofoam? If so that's kinda annoying cuz that's not recyclable. Which kinda defeats the purpose. I'm also annoyed by the bag of parts like a prize figure. If the price comes down maybe it'd be worth it but last I checked it hasn't :/
I hope to god they change it because i had pre ordered the aventurine figure and i was excited for his box and window. It just looks meh and disappointing
I am a "most of my figures stay in the box" collector. At least with the old way, I could actually look at the nendos I've purchased. While I understand why they've changed, I think they could have done better. This feels less premium. This makes it feel cheaper than a Funko Pop.
While I like to open most of my figures, one of my expections is my Mega Man collection. I have quite a bit and I've kept them all in their boxes cause I think they look pretty slick in the packaging
If you're buying second hand insist on a photo of the actual figure rather than the box. If you're buying new why wouldn't you just buy from an official source?
@@CommanderZx2 and you can tell that the one inside in the box is a bootleg if you know where to look at. Or know if the product is a defected one without open it. This just open a lot of door for scaming. And if you bought 2nd hand and got it shipped to you, better set up a camera up for review unboxing. Cause in my country where most of the product hobbist got is via online, everyone who know better got a top down set up for filming unboxing lol.
@@Honycave It's quite simple. You open the box, if it is a bootleg then you file a complaint against the seller. If they refuse to refund you then you file a complaint through PayPal or credit card, depending on what you used.
I never understood why people are attached to a box, Im not an impulsive buyer so when I buy something Im not thinking in selling. I guess everyone will be a bit happier if the prices also reflects the new packaging.
I'm not interested in selling. The problem is that the box is also part of the product and I like to keep them as a collector. And this box is cheaper and worse.
I consider the box part of the experience even if it's technically not what you're buying the figure for. Plus I can always appreciate the effort some of these companies put into their box designs
I just love nice packaging. There is a myth that the only reason to keep in box is to resell. Although with figures I do always unbox. But I collect dolls too and I keep a lot of them in box. They just look so perfectly displayed and the packaging compliments the doll.
So long as the figure doesn’t arrive with any issues, it’s fine with me 😅 Is there a higher risk? Yes and it would be a hassle to replace and document the damages while opening. But other than that, I throw the nendo boxes in the same closet with all my other figures boxes (prize, scales) so what the box itself looks like is whatever bc I never see them lol. Prob even better that they’re smaller so they take up less space overall. Unfortunate for those who display the box tho 🥲
I'm glad that Good Smile's shop doesn't really ask for much documentation when you need a replacement part. You just show them whats broken or damaged and usually they help you out. For other stores though it's likely gonna be a bit trickier
@@ZuccoFiguresohh ok that’s good to know for gsc! Def gonna have to pay attention to claim requirements for everywhere else tho including the secondhand market 🥲
This now gets in the way of the filming process for me, which is a very specific issue but still
you dont know if the figure has been damaged on the back/top/bottom/sides with the old boxes. only the front is shown
Removing the plastics/blister of the packaging makes the entire structure very fragile.
I agree that the Nendoroids are getting better. But Man, the Box looks bad I hate it I want the old not the new boxs.
Someone more talented than me should open up an Etsy store and start designing the older boxes for new releases
So true
At least those boxes are so uninspired that I wouldn’t feel guilty tossing them in the trash afterwards
I think that is what they are trying to do so you can buy their *new* storage confainer coming 2025, just you wait. If not a new cotainer storage then pushing for the mini ones they do sell
Which would make more garbage, funny enough but hey, Eco friendlyd
Here's an idea for someone with way more talent then me: Open up an Etsy store that creates boxes similar to the older ones
I probably should have said something in the video but that box was very snug so any mishap during transit would have very likely caused some issues with Taiga's Nendo
i actually had i think my maomao and jinshi keychain cancelled on Amazon us cause not enough stock right when it was coming out as well. i got em in end when it came back but still
Prize figures are also often cheaper
i feel that with windowless boxes it'll be easier than ever to get scammed with bootlegs, especially if you buy figs from ebay/mercari
the amount of sellers on ebay alone passing off obvious bootlegs as authentic figs is crazy
Gotta be extra careful when buying now unfortunately
(I guess with the Nendo doll line doing windowless boxes for a while now, it was just a matter of time.)
oh wow, they bagged the accessories like Re-ment does. I was a little concerned actually about color transfer so at least they did that.
If they didn't put the accessories in a bag that would have easily lead to so many problems down the line
I gotta try Easel stands. Never bought one myself
They did lose a lot of the cuteness factor.
I love the Shiromuku Ver. Taiga behind you, she looks so good!
I'll get to show her off more in the next video but yeah she was just chilling there lol. Very pretty overall
Nice Etna figure in the background
Everyone likes Etna it seems I think I got 3 comments on her already. Good taste
I can see the nendos getting damaged with this box during shipping, or they abusing the fact that you can't see the product to reduce QC just like how hasbro did
I'll give GSC some credit that their customer service is very helpful when you get something damaged, but eventually they'll run out of spare parts or if you bought the figure used you're shit outta luck
apparently most stuff that they tell us we can recycle anyways ends up in the landfill
the new room looks nice!
I'm slowly workin on it lol. The other side of the room is just a pile of boxes and unfinished shelves(thanks ikea) lol
No window gives me prize figure vibes. Prob why it feels cheap without it.
The new box doesn't bother me. It's just cardboard As long as the figuree is fine.
The problem is that this box was made to save costs, not to help the planet... And the base... wtf? I didn't know about the base change. Also, if they are worried about the planet, why aren't changing the PUP boxes????
PuP boxes shoulda went first tbh
As a man who didn't really buy nendoroids except for rare exceptions, this just makes me really sad not because it's all cost cutting for the sake of the bigwigs to retain their profit margins, while we just get a worse product, but because when I get the FuwaMoco nendoroids, I'll just be sad at how it will inevitably get damaged as my local post office hates me for giving them business.
My USPS is chill but whenever I'm forced to use UPS or Fedex I start getting anxiety due to the success rate I have with em
@@ZuccoFigures I feel like it's a city thing since my friend just got an old DS game shipped to him and after he got it, it straight up looks like it was run over and then fell into a some guys pool.
Hi people, the best you can do to show your disagreement to GSC is to cancel all your Nendo orders. That's what I'm going to do.
Yeah that's the best way to go about it. Vote with your wallet
Yes, my biggest fear is the possibility of injury to the extra face plates and other items. The boxes look extremely flimsy. 😢
I am glad the boxes are getting smaller tho.
thank you for sharing this! was wondering how the new boxes will be like. sad to see that they are quite different in size from the previous nendo box. now the windowless box feels like the other nendo goods boxes like nendoroid dolls / swacchao.
but good to know the peg is improved. some of my nendos tend to somersaut when i try adjusting the peg cos its so tight. but now it looks so smooth and adjusting seems to be much easier now. glad for this news.
no blisters aint buying nendos anymore
It's an issue now since if i ever were to buy a nendoroid with that box, it makes it harder to tell if its a real vs fake aside the stamp/sticker. Should have reduce the size of the box instead of making it all cardboard.
The aftermarket will definitely be a bit trickier now which is unfortunate
Sorry Nendoroids collector
just got that kimono Taiga you have in the background recently and absolutely love it. hope they make alternate versions (I assume they will, haha)
I dunno what makes Taiga such a target for recolors but I've fallen for it many times lol
No window? Wow, what a let down I know I'm not alone in this but I like the outgoing box since I like to see the figure without opening the box (don't know if that's a weird take). Good thing Mai 2417 was in the outgoing box.
alot of people like the window packaging so you're not alone
I swear to God if mh Katsushika Hokusai nendo came with that package
Her ornament behind her hair would've gotten crushed FOR SURE in one unboxing, I hate them
Sorry for being so pessimistic, but I know won't take imto consideration purchasing another nendo until they at least give us proper packaging for Nendos with little tiny accessories that are SO delicate (like my Hokusai, as I mentioned before)
Don't worry about it.
That Etna is sick, Idk why I never picked it up
I wish they made more Etna figures. That one Etna Volks Garage Kit has always been one I wanted but I'm not confident in my painting skills yet. I appreciate the one I got though just because it's her original design which feels kinda forgotten at this point
@ZuccoFigures true, id love a set to match of laharl and flonne. Her kit would be relatively easy as the art style for disgaea isnt too shaded.
Still not 100% convinced with the decision, but it's still early in the rollout so we'll see how the packages fare with the other figs
It looks and feels like a prize figure box :< (no hate I'm a prize figure collector myself. it's just that I personally like nendos with their windows cuz it makes em extra special)
Agreed. Honestly I've opened up some prize figures with better boxes than these lol(Masterlise comes to mind if those count)
I usually pick up nendo out of impulse cuz there is a window on the box that captivated my eyes.
1 minute later out of store with a nendo inside bag😂
I can imagine these new Nendos are gonna sit on shelves longer since they'll no longer catch as many people's attention
Mainly a hololive nendo collector and disappoint in the change since the newer ones will look much different in the collection :( also the old ones looks better being able to see all the accessories that come with it
Oh I'm sure I would be way more annoyed if I was collection a set of characters and the boxes suddenly changed on me
This is a bad idea for so some collectors. When I received m6 Stan Lee Nendoroid, the box was crushed. Luckily the packing protected it from any further damage.
What bugs me the most about these changes is the difference in height of the new base, it is way thinner
They should've kept the front window and had everything else be cardboard if they wanted to do this
Woulda been a nice compromise, though personally I think I'd want to keep the blister just because of the added protection
W vid, L box. Good thing Aru's nendo came out just before the change, I got an extra one to keep unopened and I love how it looks in my Aru shrine
Nice Taiga shrine! What do you have as a background? It's cute!
I've somewhat lost track of the number of Rei's and Asuka's I have... they've colonized multiple shelves over the years... >.>
I'm hoping my Ainz nendo doesn't have this new box but,it's fine if he does.
Finally got my Nagatoro 1/4 FREEING BUNNY and my cowkini Uzaki Yanagi.
Good point. I made sure to put that little strip of Styrofoam over the faceplates but I should probably double check just to be safe
Almost nobody bought their new package with no plastic and they changed it back :D
Everything is for profit.
If sales drop then yeah I expect them to revert back to the old style
Pizza box lol😂
Youd think they reduce the cost of the figure just as they reduced the cost of the packaging.
That’s crazy I got the Arturia Pendragon nendo doll and the packaging is a combination on the Og and this one , still no window tho
That is a massive change. I wonder how much that is actually saving them? The presentation from being left in the box is completely gone.
I have to imagine a decent amount considering they must have saw a the backlash coming so they knew what they were getting into
Ibh, although I'm not really a fan of the new packaging, that base is even worse from a display standpoint. The stand, though, great change
Yeah after I was done filming and I had it side by side with the older one, I kinda hate how it looks
Ooh... What's the Nendo with the really cool manga sketch box?
I asked for 2 more nendo's for christmas. If they come in the new box, it will probably be my last purchase.
I never really understood the pricing for Nendos once they went over 4000 yen
At least now you can completely collapse the box and packaging for storage
yea soon or later all toys company will try to produce more eco friendly, they sure got a lot of concern about plastic waste or etc ( and ofc less cost of prodcut but same price shameee )
The packaging made them look like prize figures. :/
I think It´s a good change in terms of Space, maybe not so much for the people who collect them close and cannot at least see the figure inside.
Is it actually Styrofoam? If so that's kinda annoying cuz that's not recyclable. Which kinda defeats the purpose. I'm also annoyed by the bag of parts like a prize figure. If the price comes down maybe it'd be worth it but last I checked it hasn't :/
It's some sort of foam bag but I probably should have clarified I didn't know the exact material
I have quite a bit and I've kept them all in their boxes cause I think they look pretty slick in the packaging
i plan to buy nendroid raphtalia but i don't like the new box
Fake bootlegs would make it easier to sell cause you cant even see the figure good smile made a terrible change
If you're buying second hand insist on a photo of the actual figure rather than the box. If you're buying new why wouldn't you just buy from an official source?
@@CommanderZx2 ever heard about switching the real for the fake ? just asking
@@Honycave what has that got to do with the packaging? They could do exactly the same switcheroo with the previous window packaging.
If they refuse to refund you then you file a complaint through PayPal or credit card, depending on what you used.
it seems like very cheap chinese product now, and it definetly will be much mroe easier to make a counterfit.
Wow, I have no problem with this 😊
unboxing nendoroid videos aren't going to be as exciting anymore cause of the new design :(
The new package sux bad, I’m stop buying this shit, the package looks like garbage.
Kinda glad I've slowed down tremendously on Nendoroids
Styrofoam is worse then plastic🤦♀️
Dreadful box. Someone destroy me now.
Ew.
Sorry but the new bix design is really ugly
It's horrible :(
I never understood why people are attached to a box, Im not an impulsive buyer so when I buy something Im not thinking in selling.
I don't mind the box change, as I discard all boxes to recycling.
