The quiver nexus boxes interlinking with each other is pretty brilliant. They connect in a way that makes them stronger, which is pretty cool! :O the fact they survived the shake test even connected is amazing!
FYI: The leather itself is "fake" yes but if something is glued, this glue often contains some sort of non vegan stuff i.e animal glue ( includes collagen which is often won out of bones or skin from animals) coloring of the leather can contain animal products like Carmine or the softener can be non vegan aswell (altough this is quite rar these days in PVC products i think). So vegan leather means no animal products are used anywhere, neither in production nor the product itself
Always appreciate the new reviews. The art on the Ultimate Guards are truly gorgeously done. I am honestly super tempted to pick up the larger hives for shelf storage. Still have not found anything to beat Bastions for my commander decks and Boulders for smaller decklists.
9:21 - "Get swell!" Oh prof, no... no it's swole. Did you mean swole? LOL, this was an awesome review, prof. It's actually right on time too cuz I'm constructing a new commander deck (featuring merfolk!), and it's been a while, so getting info on deck boxes really helps a ton :)
Please do a review of Heavy Play curved edge sleeves. I bought a several sets of their sleeves and all of them crack open on the corners. I think putting them on blast for this would be great.
For what it's worth, I emailed HP and they immediately shipped me replacements for free, and the replacements have been holding up better. I just love the curved edge so much that I'm willing to give a little bit of leeway here, but I feel you. I would love to see the professors take. Either way, heavy play support has been excellent.
I’ve been using the heavy play kit (deck box, dice box, and playmat) as a dedicated pre-release kit. I keep a 100ct of sleeves in the box and the magnetic nature of the setup makes it easy to move from table to table. Not the best for everyday use but a game changer for prereleases and drafts.
Been replacing my deck boxes with squire pluses for the last few months. I love how they fit so perfectly in my gamegenic dungeon, and i can turn them outward so that i can see the card in the slide case without even having to take the deckbox out of the dungeon! GG is killin' it
As someone that has been with your channel since your 2nd or 3rd video, it brings me great joy to see another deckbox review. Really hoping for more affordable deckboxes that support decks with triple sleeved cards appearing in the future! I use outer sleeves for some decks that have special sleeves. I really enjoy Dragon Shields Outer Sleeves' shuffle feel, too! Thanks for the great reviews!
@jt_papertrail The sleeves are larger and fit very few deckboxes. I usually use the standard oldschool Dragonshield deckboxes. With an elastic band because they won't close fully.
Heavy play got a demo/showcase at one of my LGS and after two days the boxes started to ware out not to mention that the price tag was insane. The boxes have been collecting dust ever since.
One of my favorite deck boxes was bought for me by my wife. They are Mage Tech Commander boxes. It has a better commander case than the gamegenic deck box, it comes with a divider to keep your tokens separate, and It also has a dice drawer. The flap can also be used to angle the box which is sometimes useful.
Huh, the "lego like" feature is actually neat. When you're carrying several deckboxes on the bag (I use a messenger bad myself), having them not move around and lay "flat" in theory seems like a nice thing to have.
Very professional prof! You can see the love and attention to detail every time the Prof handles the products. The micro-adjustments to make sure things are center. Course magnets, how do they work?
Worth noting that the Heavy Play's magnet system is a lot more restrictive than the Nexus interlocking system. All of the RFG deckboxes only have magnets on one side, meaning you can attach two deckboxes and nothing else. Similarly, the Dicebox only has magnets on one side - but the Dicebox MAX is double sided. So you can do [Deckbox - Dicebox MAX - Deckbox], but only [Deckbox - Dicebox]. Also want to point out that the Deckbox MAX flap is intended to be folded into a weird triangle shape when open to take up less table space, so it's not quite as bad that it doesn't lie flat, but it's still awkward Also, Ultimate Guard has been using "Xenoskin" for ages now :P so "Armorfyber" isn't really that out of line
Always been a fan of some good deckboxes! Still wildly a fan of Ultra Pro satin towers, but gamegenics recently have been super good, especially for my bulk card storage/misc commander decks
Bought the whole Bloomburrow set and love it. My only complaint about the art series UG sidewinders is that they can sometimes require a bit of bending/pulling of the box walls to fit 100 double sleeved in them depending on the sleeves you're using.
I’ve used the Heavy Play stuff for awhile. About the only thing I like it for is if you playing 60 card constructed. You can use one of the 100 card boxes for the deck/tokens and the dice box. It’s a clean little setup and RIDICULOUSLY portable. Outside of that though I’m not a fan.
The folding magnetic playmat interests me less as something to attach other deckbox products to and more as something where I could magnetically attack things like a life counter, notes, turn reminders, a reminder sheet, a character sheet, etc. Gaming areas at shops and especially at cons can get pretty windy - I remember the D&D area back when GenCon was in Milwaukee being on the basketball court and papers constantly flying off tables during the 3e launch - and this just as a way to keep my stuff together seems great. I don't know if it's $50 great before adding additional items, but I like the concept.
Not sure about the gamegenic squire, but the sidekick won't hold double sleeved Standard cards. (Tested with dragon shield outer for standard.) And yes, I am talking about the versions the professor is showing and no, this is not to bullshit anyone. I just happen to be a TCG store owner in Germany and after being amazed by the product line for SWU I preordered the new sidekicks asap and was pretty devastated when I found out. I'll order some of the squires next, because the normal version is one of my favorite deckboxes to use. Keep up the good work, prof, you are really helping us out!
I absolutely love Gamegenic deck boxes. I use their Bastion 50 for my Digimon decks as they are the perfect size, and the Stronghold for my Commander decks. It's really hard to beat the brand.
I just bought an aluminium case (for tools) for my cards, I'm not sure if it's the right call, but it sure keeps them safe and has enough store for at least 15 commander decks double sleeved, and still has two compartments for dices, life wheels and whatever else you might need for around 45$
I'm a big fan of Bastion XLs from Gamegenic, but those Quiver cases are the first I've seen that I would consider instead. The ability to lock the cases together seems goofy, but I buy, sleeve, and case every precon when released. Being able to group them together by set, by way of physically snapping them together, seems pretty great to me.
I don't really need them but I'd love to get those Quiver Nexus boxes. Eight interlinked ones surviving the shake test has me sold! The improved Return to Earth Boulders were also a great thing to see; I recall being disappointed about their quality back when they first came out. (Also I did a double take when Prof said "get swell", I didn't expect that lol)
1. Love the magnetic system, feels like my new sealed event-box 2. Vegan leather is mostly plastic, so it's a trade between plastic use and animal care. (I'm not a vegan but a leather worker :) (oh God I posted this before the price announcement... Now I'm crying)
The new Gamegenic deck boxes were initially made for the new Card Game Star Wars Unlimited. It is a pretty good game and I personally really like these deck boxes.
Last week I bought like 6 gamegenic bastions, they are probably my favorite deck box so far, easily fits my sleeved edh decks, tokens, and a life counter wheel. No bells and whistles. It's probably better for my wallet that those heavy play boxes are all so expensive, now I'm not tempted to just buy 16 of them lol
The HeavyPlay product is innovative and the "feel" of the products, especially the magnet dicebox addon, is *sublime* - I admire the product but have yet to pull the trigger. I'm just not in the market for a $50 box when the $5 DS deck shells are perfect for standard decks.
I feel like the two new Gamegenic boxes, and just mini academics, which honestly is great Also ide love to see a review of all the hard card cases on the market, slide cases are awesome but i do wounder what the best of the best are
I grabbed a sidekick pro, and I like it.. But it's huge. I don't see myself collecting too many more. Maybe I'll grab another if they put them out in the old soft touch material. It's interesting that everyone and their brother makes a Boulder-style box now. It makes me hesitate to buy any, because at this rate there will be a newer and better one next quarter! I really like the BCW prisms, and started to get a few of those, but then the Gamegenic Bastions hit the scene and made me wish I had waited...
Man, I was drooling at those Heavy Play items until you brought up the price and limited availability. Looks like I'll stick with my Sidewinders for now, but hopefully they'll drop the price or at least give us decent sales. They look like stellar products otherwise!
Even Gamegenic's Side Holder 100+ XL deckboxes are really great quality! I was skeptical because I just needed something cheap on the go and they were like 3 bucks at my LGS but they're definitely not like the old Ultra Pro flip plastic deck boxes. There's something in the water...or plastics?...at Gamegenic.

Such a long time since an accessory review. I missed these
Damn I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a Deck box review.
I think it's been two years
@@jakeshively5268 One year, actually. He did a review of GameGenic's Bastion deck box then.
@@michaelbreen7865 that's still a long time, lol
Well it makes sense when he made one to rule them all himself.

Fantastic feature for cubes too.
Interesting! Also, I was mostly just poking fun. As I said in the video, I found the materials to look and feel great.
@@TolarianCommunityCollege It felt good-spirited, I still couldn’t tell if I was being engagement baited or not 😂
@@TolarianCommunityCollege I know. Just wanted to clearify for ppl that are curious what vegan leather is :)

"Is this a feature people really want in their deckboxes?"
Me: *Breathing heavily, salivating at the thought*

Maybe they have some quality issues due to being new? I say because my friend got some and hasn't had any issues. Those are his favorite sleeves now.
About time for a new review video, perfect for holiday shopping. Thanks Prof!

Someone should show the Professor what 3d printing has evolved the art of deckboxes into.
That could be a video all on it's own since there are so many.
Yes! Finally an accessory video! Next up sleeves! Apex for the "rip test" ...
Been replacing my deck boxes with squire pluses for the last few months. I love how they fit so perfectly in my gamegenic dungeon, and i can turn them outward so that i can see the card in the slide case without even having to take the deckbox out of the dungeon! GG is killin' it
The use of magnets is actually very thoughtful. Seperate attachable token/dice box is nice

Heavy play got a demo/showcase at one of my LGS and after two days the boxes started to ware out not to mention that the price tag was insane. The boxes have been collecting dust ever since.
I love my Sidekick XL Pro! It's nice how everything folds up and is so secure.
Maybe the best deck box of 2024 was the friends we made along the way
This is what brought me to this channel so many years ago! Love seeing these still alive in 2024!
Oh hell ya, new product review. I was interested in the new gamegenic line and this is for sure what I wanted to see. Getting some soon, thanks, Prof.
Oh right, Prof reviews products. I had almost forgotten.
I own a handful of the Heavy Play deck boxes and a playmat, I actually enjoy both, great product, I just wished we knew how magnets worked
Hot tip, if you want a frosted exterior on a normal hard plastic shell, use high grit sandpaper. 400+ works well. (best to wet sand)

I literally rewatch every one of ur deckbox videos, playmat videos, anything and finally another has come out 🙏
the magnet playmat with the mag dice holder and deckbox seems like a gamechanger for events at your LGS!

Thanks to you and your team prof! I’ve been thinking of getting back into paper mtg, and deck boxes are one of the things I’m shopping around on
God i love my heavy play mat. The fact that it just fits in the laptop slot in my backpack means i dont need a bulky tube.
Bought the whole Bloomburrow set and love it. My only complaint about the art series UG sidewinders is that they can sometimes require a bit of bending/pulling of the box walls to fit 100 double sleeved in them depending on the sleeves you're using.

Was just thinking about when the last time an accessory review came out! Always my fav!
Hey Prof. Thanks to you I bought a Card Lair 400 + by Gamegenic. Thanks for the reviews.
1. Love the magnetic system, feels like my new sealed event-box
2. Vegan leather is mostly plastic, so it's a trade between plastic use and animal care. (I'm not a vegan but a leather worker :)
(oh God I posted this before the price announcement... Now I'm crying)
Yeah...THIS is the first video where you get all "Andy Rooney"...right.
(always enjoy seeing new accessory reviews! Thanks!)
I was just looking for deck boxes , your always on point professor
I was just looking for deck boxes for my Christmas list, perfect timing Prof!
Always love a prof product review. Has one been done yet on the bastion xl from gamegenic? They are my new favorites.
Vintage TCC. Nice. I recently quit Magic after twentysome years, and so I haven't been consuming much Magic content. This was a nice bit of nostalgia.
FWIW-- Ultimate Guard 80+/100+ Boulders fit in the Quiver case perfectly. Ive been doing it for awhile now.
The new Gamegenic deck boxes were initially made for the new Card Game Star Wars Unlimited. It is a pretty good game and I personally really like these deck boxes.
good to see a product review again.
7:48 I think I need therapy 😂😂😂
I think the the snapping together is nice so you don't have boxes shifting and cuasing uncomfortable bulges in a backpack.
Wanted to chime in as well. Been missing the product reviews. glad to see another one!
I love your OG product reviews.
I needed this video!! I am so sick of keeping some of my decks in the sorry excuse of deckboxes the precons come with.
The Gamegenic Squire Pro also fits in the Academic perfectly
I'm very impressed with the manufacturers. We now have fully soundproof deckboxes 😆
Thank you! This is LONG overdue.
I just enjoy building my own deck boxes out of beautiful wood, very custom, and absolutely beautiful

Yeah, I really respect the innovation HeavyPlay is doing, but that price tag is hard to ignore.
I always love seeing a new product review video! I think I'm going to pick up one of the art boxes
Have you checked out Arcane Fortress? Was hoping to see that.
Been waiting to see a review of the new Gamegenic Deckboxes. Love the review and love your work, Prof!
Yess more deck box reviews always makes me happy thank you Prof.
I feel like the two new Gamegenic boxes, and just mini academics, which honestly is great
Also ide love to see a review of all the hard card cases on the market, slide cases are awesome but i do wounder what the best of the best are
Needed this one today, thanks Prof.
Last Night I was literally thinking "I really hope we get a Deck Box review soon." So this is a very welcomed surprise. :D
My favourite juggling show! A TCC deck box review.
Feels like it's been so long since Professor did a product review video...feels good...feels like the old times, when things were good...
THE KING HAS RETURNED WITH A PRODUCT REVIEW
I dont know why, but this video made me very happy. Thanks Prof for the fun reviews.
These accesories are so cool, great vid as always, i did miss there review videos
FINALLY another product review, we want more! And not just Gamegenic
I was just watching your old deck box reviews. I was hoping you'd make a new one soon.
Finally, it's what I subscribed for! So very very glad to see this
I never thought prof would ever get back to deck boxs
Yeah, the truth is that we have reviewed pretty much everything, so it's more a "once a year" sort of thing now.
The only new box I need is a restock of the Academic for my triple sleeved RogSi deck, but man the modular magnetic deck boxes look so nice
"what do you want from it though" 4:57
lol
Whoa, an accessory review in 2024. Thanks, prof.
Man, I was drooling at those Heavy Play items until you brought up the price and limited availability. Looks like I'll stick with my Sidewinders for now, but hopefully they'll drop the price or at least give us decent sales. They look like stellar products otherwise!
As someone just getting into MTG, I enjoyed your past accessory reviews, but prefer newer reviews like these!
4:53 the day has come, I thought you would never ask. Please do shake it prof
I have waited for a Prof accessory review for so long! I miss these greatly, but I supposed you can only review the same kind of stuff for so long.
Appreciate you Prof. You've saved me so much money over the years.
Whew, at least it's not a new secret lair alert 😅
I have 23 decks in Boulders, and I toss them around all the time. Decks are safe and sound.
Now I'll have to get a squire for my blinged out Neheb cats deck! Even though it costs around 180 bucks in my country
Damn, now I have to get a box for the Palladia-Mors deck I have in the works... Dragonhawk was already slotted into the 99.
We'd still be using white corrugated cardboard deckboxes without your work pushing the quality, prof. Appreciate your work.
