Honestly they could easily make a cardboard blister, something a lot of other companies have already been doing. Provides the same service as a plastic blister by protecting the figure and keeping parts separate but it's also no longer making plastic waste since cardboard is biodegradable. It's a no brainer win-win, so I can't fathom why they wouldn't do it.
@clockwork3494 I doubt they will, I'm gonna have to resort to putting each extra into either its own little bag or putting it in a long bag and rolling them so they don't touch. I would LOVE a cardboard blister, Though they still don't have a tight enough seal to keep things from rolling around against the cardboard. That is my only complaint, really.
They could have just made the window smaller to reduce plastic by only showing the figure and not the extra pieces for example the arms they can hide them behind cardboard like the extra faceplates with the same cardboard holders from inside the windowless box.
They kinda already did that with the smaller windowed box with only the main figure and signature accessories visible on the window while the alt faces and body parts hidden behind the cardboard. They should've just stopped there since it minimizes the production cost, the shipping cost, and storage space, all the while still serve the same display value as the older packaging design.
the way they said with their whole chest the cardboard box is to reduce plastic waste yet return to styrofoam packaging for the figure itself despite it being flammable, toxic and non-recyclable is so ....missing the point 💀the change to the boxes is so disappointing and the plain bases...
yeah, in total it's prolly a similar amount of plastic with all the additional padding, not just the styrofoam, and the plastic they're using now is 100% stuff that's intended to be thrown out, because there's no dual use like the old clamshells being used as display cases or just storage...
Thry care about the plastic and environment the same as ali express :D "Buy more items at the same time, so we can ship everything together and help the environment"
Reduce plastic only to replace it with something you can't recycle. And that padding stuff is far more difficult to reuse for padding than just putting it back in the shell. This has "saves the company money" written all over it.
Hasbro did this a couple years ago and had Star Wars, GI Joe, and Marvel Legends in "plastic free" packaging that was just a box. People complained and even stopped buying and now we have the original plastic packaging back. If companies really cared about the environment, they would stop making plastic toys.
They also did it because people would return empty boxes or with a different figure in them with no way to verify without opening up the box. So they get scammed
People dont tend to throw these plastic boxes away. If a good smile was really concern towards nature. Then they shouldn't produce anime figures that still made by plastics
I keep my random lego boxes LOL And all my model kit ones. I should throw them and I have no space in the basement, but I hoard them all. =___= Edit: I also collect figures and keep those too. Just using Lego and model kits cause most don't keep those iirc.
If they really cared they’d make every character with joints in the arms & legs, it would cut down on plastics as you wouldn’t need to keep making all these extra arms & legs. And Nendo’s with joints in the arms & legs are sooooo much better, they don’t fall to pieces every time I dust them, and much easier to display.
For overseas consumers, have fun when the shipping company destroys your boxes because now there's no protection. At least with the clamshells the figure was protected when the box was damaged. Also the idea of the easel stands are great until you realize they're always sold out
If GSC really wanted to be "environmental" and not just cost cut, they could've used egg carton, shrink the display window to just the figure, and actually eliminated the plastic used from the foam and bubble wrap. Of course, the most environmental thing any company that deals only in plastic knickknacks can do is to go out of business.
I mean, when companies give you less quality than before, hater by default is a good stand. The company is the one that needs to win over their customers, not the customers having to put up with the company.
Ever since the announcement I've been wondering what they're expecting of consumers who want to preserve their figures and want somewhere reliable to store their unused nendoroid pieces for years to come. And then I remembered those little kigurumi bodies things they sell for a cute way to store nendorid pieces... yeah they're absolutely going to start making new things like that to solve the issue they created for consumers.
I hate it, too. 100% agree that it's both to cut costs and encourage pre-orders from their site. Not excited to find out which of the Nendos I have pre-ordered will end up with the new boxes..... I've been trying to slow down on Nendos since I feel like the designs have gotten more lazy, but now I might just skip them entirely. Just doesn't feel worth it.
yeah, my husband and i have over like 50 nendos, theres a few in boxes, a few on shelves, i can tell recently theyve become more lazy and just worse quality. its funny to look at some of the older ones on the shelf vs the newer ones, its so obvious.
People usually don't throw away their collection item packaging. But this packaging are designed to be thrown away immediately, which defeats the purpose of 'saving the planet’. I bet people who usually keep their boxes, now they gonna throw away these new ones.
Thank you for going over the new box design. When Hasbro pulled this with their GI Joe Classified line It did not last long. I hope Goodsmile learns the same lesson and goes back to the window boxes. It is pretty dirty the way they changed boxes after pre orders were placed. There are a few nendo preorders I am going to cancel over this new box for sure. Subbed!
Oof, I feel conflicted about this. On one hand, I like the idea of being able to flatten the boxes now since i live in a small place. The size is also cute like you said. But on the other hand I cringe at how much cheaper the quality is. Not just on the box but even the stands. Though I suppose that cost cutting measure could work for that. I don't really want to think of it as corprate greed but just that the economy is really effecting a lot of companies. And it sucks.
There is an authenticity sticker on the new box from what it looks like. My concern is more about the damage done to the figure in such a flimsy packaging that the figure is going to slide around in. So more paint transfers and damaged figures upon delivery are more than likely going to increase.
It also destroys the secondhand market, you’ll never be able to get an “A” grade again, as AmiAmi will need to open every one to check if everything in the box is correct.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- The only good part about that is scalpers are gonna go down hard. ...unless scalpers are daring enough to sneak an inside man inside GSC HQ, have them sneak out to them 100% mint condition parts in secret, then store them inside authentic boxes sealed such that it seems imperceptibly perfect, and then market them on their stores as "genuine MIB perfect condition" Nendos. ...but nah, I don't think they're *that* cunning.
I put my nendoroid parts in a tacklebox so they're all organized. This new box would be great it can be completely flattened to save storage space. It will make things harder like spotting bootlegs.
And GSC shoots these preorders out nonstop nowadays it’s SO hard to catch the preorder window sometimes… like sometimes I -have- to buy third party you know?
@@KAYOZIACHANNEL right?? I'm a student too so I dont have much money to be able to preorder stuff as often as they come out so I usually have to wait because of that.
I wanted to get into collecting nendoroids in the future but this box change makes me even more scared to do so ToT Even the second hand ones are very expensive for me so being scammed out of this money would be freaking tragic. Man..
Probably. The one example I can point to is HASBRO. For maybe a couple years they attempted to do “plastic-free” packaging. However, less people bought those and it forced them to go back to having some in plastic to (I believe) going back to all plastic. (After laying off a bunch of people) So, depending on sales (and I mean global sales) they could come back. However, you have to take into consideration that the Japanese market may or may not have issue. On one side, in Japan a lot of figures already come in plastic-free packaging. On the other side, Japan is also the biggest users of single use plastic. So we’ll have to see
This is definitely just to save cost and secure first party/ official sellers for Nendos. The boxes for their pop-up parade line for one character is more plastic than 2 nendos
damn what a shame. i'm a nendoroid collector for 4 years and i'm being a hater for those boxes. nothing beats the feeling of getting a figure brand new on an amazing box. this new box is souless i hope they take a step back on this change
Personally, I don’t keep any of my boxes, even the expensive ones, I only have 2 of them (MLP Miku and my Rin Dollfie’s box). I don’t really care about the plain and flimsy box design except for the fact that there’s no window, which as you said is important for determining the authenticity of a figure. The stands and bases, however, are absolutely ATROCIOUS!!! Even if there were a reason aside from encouraging preorders, it’s actually foul that they’d downgrade the quality of some very important aspects of the figure and still charge as much as they do.
Not keeping the boxes for expensive figures is kind of nuts, you’ll never sell it, but maybe you don’t care about that. I even keep the shipping boxes, they do take up a lot of space, especially the bigger statue boxes.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__-a lot of people buy figurines, because they genuinely wanna display them and not just to resell them later I personally only keep boxes, if they’re relatively small and are well designed, which isn’t most of them
@@mweeee I’ve never sold a figure, I don’t ever plan to sell anything, I’m just not the seller type, I tend to keep everything. But I still keep every single box, because I don’t know what will happen in the future and I might need them. I also tend to buy more expensive figures.
If you google Japan plastic packaging, you'd see that they really are trying to reduce the over packaging problem in Japan. Now I'm sure it has to be beneficial to the company as well before they start caring about the environment. Reduced packaging = less cost = more profit, so it's a win-win situation for them.
Definitely. I was saying this to a friend, those boxes will become more valuable then the figure itself. I can already foresee some people making custom boxes for specific characters
Oh lord that's even worse than I expected 💀 Any scrap of benefit of the doubt that it was for "the environment" vanished upon seeing the bubblewrap and styrofoam, which weren't even necessary before and CANNOT be recycled. As already mentioned, most collectors/buyers don't toss the box to begin with; the original packaging wasn't also just helpful for resale if you no longer want it, but also those clamshells were fantastic at preventing damage. I've seen some intense box damages in my 15 years of collecting, including a scale figure that was impaled by a forklift (yes, really- that was certainly a fun surprise)- and the figures themselves always still came out unscathed. I've had to move with my collection several times and even long distance- always fine. 100% Team Clam Shell here, lmao. Seeing how much those parts will scrape and bounce around makes me SO nervous. And if the box won't properly protect the figure, what's even the point? Isn't that just more wasteful? ffs, just make the front window a bit smaller and remove the ones on the sides. As for the bases- personally, I really dislike the easel ones, since they can be difficult to balance and make some poses impossible. The default base is pretty bleh, but at least easy enough to ignore since it's clear, I guess. I find usually I don't need all the extra holes aside from maybe one if there's any floating pieces (Animal Crossing Isabelle's music notes) or mascot characters (Kero from CCS) or something; but an easy solution there is the Nendoroid Petite bases, which they often include in cases like that anyway. If they're concerned about the environment- having an extra base as a pre-order bonus is just MORE plastic (the base itself and the packaging it comes in). Realistically you won't even use both, so that seems way more wasteful to me than the box that serves a significant function?? And I'm not even going to touch on how tacky and cheap it looks because that's preaching to the choir here, but that unboxing looked so sad and frustrating. I really hope they walk this back. =_= Thank you for the in-depth packaging comparison!! 🙏
It looks like something you'd put on the countertop shelf that people picks up during payment. An afterthought purchase like those offbrand mints and blind boxes 😭
the problem is not them changing the boxes, the problem is lying about why, they should have said they want to reduce costs, but if they did, people would want a price reduction...
Their reasoning for the change gen falls flat on its face when u realize figure collectors are prob the most eco-conscious since they already are reluctant to throw away boxes and even the little plastic that wraps around the parts .. even when it comes to getting rid of them i highly doubt that throwing them away is the first thing that comes to mind. hello??? this is a second hand hobby! :
As a Nendo guy, thanks for the heads up on what we are in for. (With the Nendoroid doll line already doing something similar, I guess I should have seen this coming.) I just hope my one current Nendo on pre-order, (Ultimate Madoka,) will include the original 2013 packaging being that it is a reissue! 😥
Like they’re SO UGLY FOR NO REASON LOL I’d love it so much more if they made them like the white circle base in the video but just clear. Like WHY are they taking up so much space????
Cost saving measures ment too enrich the company and to cheapen the hobby as a whole. They will do this to pop up parade figures next just wait and see.
Feeling that "overgrowing out of figures" comment. The new boxes seem like they'd take up less space in storage ig, but it just seems a bit cheap looking especially for how expensive nendos are now days. Also those new bases are so ugly i swear
Personally, they could reduce the size of the box , it’s cute , better for storage but they could at least do a small window in the front for the figure somehow ?? Just a small side window for the figure then package the accessories however they want similar to old lps package or doll package.
Yeah I don't like this. I own several nendoroids and I use my boxes to store my extra pieces as well as have them as storage for my figures if I need to move or arrange. Plus we got so many good special box designs with the window. It's just sad. You are going to have an easier time scrapping parts and losing them. least give like a special baggy.
As someone who collects a decent amount of nendoroid... The recent nendoroid packaging has also been reduced in quality. The plastic tray that holds the nendo is extremely soft compared to the older ones... and now that they remove it completely and only put them in a small box like some pop marts? I think I'm going to stop pre-ordering them for a while... i hope the complaints or backlashes that they recieved will change their minds
Def prefer the blisters with windows. I still display most of mine in their boxes and only unpack a couple at a time. Inb4 price on blister-packed nendoroids inflates when they get cheaply-packed re-releases.
I think what sucks as a casual collector with like 3 figurines is that I don't have a big shelf to store them on, so i have to keep them in a box to protect them. For people like me (which tbf is probably a very small minority) having clear cases is very nice, because I can enjoy them while also making sure my cat doesn't choke on a tiny Pochita
Among 100 other issues my biggest complaint is them using the flimsiest cardboard on earth to put your figure in, a worthless tissue paper thin non-compartmentalized "storage" box for you to throw all of your accessories in and have them scrape against each other, and the price remains as high as ever. Like you said, this reeks of straight up greed, not any kind of concern for the environment. EDIT: I also wanted to say your VTuber is the CUTEST, I was mesmerized just watching its ears move, I love the colors you chose and how bouncy everything is
I feel like they probably expect people to keep the plastic with the seperators and keep it in each section 😑 And I'd definitely be keeping that plastic around those face plates. 😅 Honestly as a collector this is so disappointing to see, it's really only waste if you get rid of the box and most of us keep the box. By the time the boxes are being thrown out, there may even be better plastic recycling by that point. Thanks for showing this! (Also I even keep my prize figure boxes lol some of them are really cute and honestly they make good storage for transporting the figures and seeing each one made it to a new place lol)
just realizing my aventurine nendo preorder is probably gonna come in one of the new boxes… really disappointed bc he would have looked so cool in the original box 😭
This is really terrible. I keep all of my nendoroids in the box sealed, and the window packaging is important so that I can actually look at the figure I purchased lol. Its even more ridiculous that they swapped this figure's packaging after it was already revealed months ago, looks like I will not be preordering any upcoming nendoroids until this is switched back over. Thank you for the review of the packaging!
the entire appeal to them is that i like having them in a box to look at, what am i even looking at at this point, cardboard, i could literally print a picture and hang it on my wall and that would be more interesting.
The only reason for less plastic is that plastic has become more expensive. A while ago they changed from saying PVC/ABS to "plastics", meaning a mixture of anything that fit in said vague category. They reduced the packaging plastic because it got too expensive and along with the yen having such low value still, it hit their profit too hard. It's just money. If they really wanted to help the enviroment they could have donated part of their profit from their figures to some organization.
I actually liked the uniformity of the old bases, the new one is terrible! I usually put the stand in the center peg so it doesn't stick out too far. I only have one nendo left, but it's time for me to stop collecting 😅
If you telling me this is how Good Smile going with... I'll honestly would not care any of their product despite there's a favorite character that I liked. This is not how you want to promote or sell to the consumer. This just only making the scalper or scammer taking advantages by purchasing real stuff and change the stuff with bootleg one.
i preordered nendoroid #2420 and #2462 on september and while I was already so angry because of the new box announcement, now I hate the new base more than the box😣 i hope they don't send them with the new box+base..Even though i pre-ordered them from GSC's own website they also didn't have the preorder bonus base option
Girl! Your commentary is hilarious! You got a new subscriber! You are definitely an OG anime figure collector because I see those Billy Figmas in the background 😂
I can't wait to see their sales plummet, wonder where they went wrong, and see them deflect blame onto us. Nah GSC you're own greed and producing subpar packaging are the reason, stop being dululu
RIP to those whose series are still getting Nendoroid's and you can no longer have matching packaging display for the entire set (This is about the remaining IDOLiSH7 nendoroids lol)
i was thinking the same thing about the i7 nendos lol. i take mine outta the box but have the boxes lined up side-view and the new difference in height and stuff would be so jarring
I wish that it could be like the Marvel Legends new windowed packaging because it is smaller, compact, and still has plastic windows and clamp, which makes it easier to look at it and to store them without taking up a lot of space
this reminds me of when burger king and alot of fast food companies (but McDonalds) stopped selling plastic toys in kids meal for "the environment" and then it became all boring stickers and cardboard cutouts
I stopped collecting Nendoroids cause prize figure quality has gotten better while also being larger and sometimes even cheaper and Nendos are just so fiddly to work with. But this certainly doesn’t help lol. I would worry so much if I had to pack them and move
GSC is already not doing as well as they used to, especially after Covid. I don’t see how this is going to help their situation. Edit: I’m glad you mentioned that this is being done in part to increase preorder sales, this is probably in conjunction with changes like GSC US’s no preorder cancellation policy and their heightened shipping fees to make sure they can squeeze as much money directly from consumers as possible. Not a good look in my opinion, but we’ll see what happens.
I didn’t realize the change would appear this quickly omg. I’m highly skeptical of this change largely being for environmental reasons too. It stinks of greenwashing. I’m both a figure collector and super into environmentalism so I was super interested in the news of this change. Some of the most environmentally friendly things about figure collecting is something people don’t even really realize most often, the circularity of anime figures. The secondhand market is really strong within anime collecting community and to remove the clear window discourages secondhand sales (people are not easily able to see what they’re getting + reduced ease of bootleg detection). This encourages people to buy new (which can be difficult depending on the availability of the figure) which goes against the environment (extracting new material, manufacturing, shipment, etc.) when collectors could have bought secondhand. Not to mention the new packaging seems like it won’t protect the figure as well. Putting that many resources into producing a product to then not properly take care of it because of the lack of proper packaging (which is likely far less resource demanding than the product itself) sounds counter intuitive. Can’t say I’ll stop buying Nendoroids all together if they strongly enforce this new packaging into future releases, but I definitely feel less inclined to buy overall. Thanks for showing the new box!
I think the biggest concern is this. The price would still be the same high price...shoot, if they made the prices more affordable with this change. I'll axcept this change lol. But my biggest concern is this, if they are changing all figure boxes down the line: ones that once had the old (better) look, ones being restocked. My goodness, so many fricken people are gonna inflate the prices of figures with old box designs now... Edit: Another rant, this type of packaging is more prone to have broken pieces when people get them now; since there isn't much protection for them. This isn't like Hasbro figures, where its more durable plastic and less paint. Made for generally kids, either way their packaging is the same bad taste... These are collector's items. I swear, bits of hair or accessories are gonna be delivered broken or chipped...
Obviously they intend for you to buy those nendoroid more face storage figures where it’s like an animal onesie that you just slap your extra faces onto lol. But yeah these boxes definitely feel like cutting costs over anything else.
New to your channel and I appreciate you walking through this fairly objectively. Saw this video under the YT recommendations since I started dabbling in collecting nendroids and some figures as an offshoot of collecting and building Gunpla and some Bandai metal build figures. As one who understands the deterioration of polycaps and posability, having these shipped in a way that could have already worn out the ability for the figure to hold certain poses is disheartening. It is interesting that Good Smile are just now they are removing plastic when so many Marvel, Transformers, and other US toys had removed plastic and the visibility for some time and finally have gone back to using plastic or open air for viewing the figure in the packaging. As far as making it a premium product (comparing to P-Bandai) they have a long way to go. But a figure that cannot be displayed in box, and even to validate the figure is there, pls it makes repackaging very difficult and flimsy... all that to say, It makes me not want to invest more in a Schrodinger's nendroid and more in the mecha. I get it cut costs, but will it cut consumer interest?
Hasbro did this with Transformers. Except in their case is even worse, 'cause the smaller figures have open windows with no protection. There are multiple cases of figures being swapped or having parts and accessories stolen.
I'm speechless... Good video though, first time seeing you Nice voice (to not sound creepy, I mean how well you talked and made me understand even though I'm a non-native speaker)
with how much plastic they had to insert to pad the nendos, I doubt they're even really saving all that much plastic compared to before. And the type they're using now is the type that's 100% going to be thrown away, because it's just packaging and nothing else, versus the old blisters which doubled as displays and storage, and that I'm fairly certain most people kept. *And* the packaging is still worse in actually protecting the figures, with all the ways the figs can move inside of the box and with how unsecure they are. Literally the only benefit of this is that this is probably way cheaper materials wise for the company; the box is easier to assemble since its solid and cardboard, the clamshell prolly cost _something_ in comparison to this method of placing in some plastic separators, wrapping the figure, then tossing it into a cardboard box (assumedly all done by hand), the stand is a smaller amount of flimsier plastic...and not only are they seemingly keeping prices the same for this junk, but they even put an item whose preorder ended before the packaging change announcement in it... Biiiiiiiig yikes. Something's prolly changed at the company, and in a really bad way.
GSC save a lot of money by not using plastic but the prices remain the same, meaning they want to make more money than before. They say they don't want to use plastic, but with the POPUP PARADE line, they are going to use all the plastic in the world.
I feel it was done to save costs The same reason apple removed the wall adapter from the iPhone box Make the box smaller so more product fits into the shipping box Even just shipping them direct to customers the box is still small so cheaper shipping Cheaper packaging cuz now there's no clear plastic that needs to be molded specifically to the figure Everything was done to save a few bucks or pennies even for profit without lowering the price of course because the idea is to make more money without lowering the price to the consumer hahaha 🥴
I have over 50 Nendoroids, I actually don’t even know why I buy them because they annoy me so much, I only buy them to put beside their manga. But I don’t care about them, I only care about scales & statues.
"We wanted to be better for the environment" Then proceeds to use Styrofoam in the packing material that cannot be recycled normally and usually gets thrown into trash. Yeah I'm not a fan of the change. It makes the box look like a cheap prize figure or bootleg. Almost all high end figures use the windowed box with clamshell.
I can see the intention of the box design of being universal packaging rather than making a unique plastic cover to hold the nendoroid and parts together as that cost money to uniquely design and manufacturer to which I am guessing it's no longer sustainable. I really think there is room for improvement such as the box containing the figure made out of clear plastic with a universal design which can be seen from outside of the box
I don't mind the idea of package reduction but the lack of places to safely put the spare parts upsets me as I keep each part in its spot in the clam shell because it's the safest spot. I even keep the plastic rap and the tape because I'm scared of damage. I don't know how to protect the parts now. The outer box I don't mind but the inner box I hate. I don't like the new stand I prefer the old one. I wouldn't mind the change if they gave you a plastic box for the accessories that is designed for them and intended to be kept.
Nice, they removed the transparent plastic case and wrap the figure in plastic anyway
The items scraping against each other is fucking diabolical. Put the blister back in!!!

They could have just made the window smaller to reduce plastic by only showing the figure and not the extra pieces for example the arms they can hide them behind cardboard like the extra faceplates with the same cardboard holders from inside the windowless box.

yeah, my husband and i have over like 50 nendos, theres a few in boxes, a few on shelves, i can tell recently theyve become more lazy and just worse quality. its funny to look at some of the older ones on the shelf vs the newer ones, its so obvious.
it's the fact that wanting to keep it mint will be stupid now bc you can't even look at it 😭
People usually don't throw away their collection item packaging.
But this packaging are designed to be thrown away immediately, which defeats the purpose of 'saving the planet’.
I bet people who usually keep their boxes, now they gonna throw away these new ones.
Yeah...I'm about done with Nendoroids if this is the direction GSC is going
A sticker will not matter if you buy them online from resellers that have no refund policies.
A sticker doesn't mean anything. I saw enough of them on bootlegs :D
fuck, the new base is the last straw for me. it looks so cheap like it could break easily
I hate it omg. Ahhhh. And how is Styrofoam better then "plastic" 🤦♀️.. its also more clunky and bigger almost.. ugh
I put my nendoroid parts in a tacklebox so they're all organized. This new box would be great it can be completely flattened to save storage space. It will make things harder like spotting bootlegs.
yeah omg not being able to see the actual figure makes me a bit scared of them being authentic.
Man..
With the older ones you could stuff the box with rocks and fake nendoroids aren't common. So buying 2nd hand is a non-issue
tbh im scared of wanting to put my nendoroid back into a box like this? what's next, figmas in paper boxes like the nendoroids? i dont think so
Probably. The one example I can point to is HASBRO. For maybe a couple years they attempted to do “plastic-free” packaging.
However, less people bought those and it forced them to go back to having some in plastic to (I believe) going back to all plastic. (After laying off a bunch of people)
So, depending on sales (and I mean global sales) they could come back. However, you have to take into consideration that the Japanese market may or may not have issue. On one side, in Japan a lot of figures already come in plastic-free packaging. On the other side, Japan is also the biggest users of single use plastic.
So we’ll have to see
@@OmniJerBear Joe Hasbro's plastic-free packaging worked as well as it did: it gave consumers an "in" to pop heads off figures for free.
Wtf is this😭❗️
Bring back the original box
This is definitely just to save cost and secure first party/ official sellers for Nendos. The boxes for their pop-up parade line for one character is more plastic than 2 nendos
I'll never buy a nendoroid ever again because that box is an insult to us collectors.
damn what a shame. i'm a nendoroid collector for 4 years and i'm being a hater for those boxes. nothing beats the feeling of getting a figure brand new on an amazing box. this new box is souless i hope they take a step back on this change
RIN 🗣️ DOLLFIE 🗣️ MENTIONED 🗣️
@ HELL YEAH SHES MY MOST PRIZED POSSESSION
Not keeping the boxes for expensive figures is kind of nuts, you’ll never sell it, but maybe you don’t care about that. I even keep the shipping boxes, they do take up a lot of space, especially the bigger statue boxes.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__-a lot of people buy figurines, because they genuinely wanna display them and not just to resell them later
I personally only keep boxes, if they’re relatively small and are well designed, which isn’t most of them
@@mweeee I’ve never sold a figure, I don’t ever plan to sell anything, I’m just not the seller type, I tend to keep everything.
Reduced packaging = less cost = more profit, so it's a win-win situation for them.
time to quit collecting nendoroids. but at the same time means my older nendoroid value may rocket with the old box later on. LOL
We win some and lose some 😭😭
Definitely. I was saying this to a friend, those boxes will become more valuable then the figure itself. I can already foresee some people making custom boxes for specific characters
Oh lord that's even worse than I expected 💀
Any scrap of benefit of the doubt that it was for "the environment" vanished upon seeing the bubblewrap and styrofoam, which weren't even necessary before and CANNOT be recycled.
Thank you for the in-depth packaging comparison!! 🙏
It looks like something you'd put on the countertop shelf that people picks up during payment. An afterthought purchase like those offbrand mints and blind boxes 😭
They should do what they did and reduce the prices
the problem is not them changing the boxes, the problem is lying about why, they should have said they want to reduce costs, but if they did, people would want a price reduction...
we calling companies out with this one🔥🔥🔥
It's for the "environment" until the sales drop and they go back with a windowed package like Hasbro did
The precious packaging is similar to how scale figure looks like, and the new one feels definitely more like prize figure
Personally I’ve always hated the square bases, they take up so much space and most of the time they don’t stand upright and fall while tinkering
Like they’re SO UGLY FOR NO REASON LOL
I’d love it so much more if they made them like the white circle base in the video but just clear. Like WHY are they taking up so much space????
Yeah, these boxes just sucks and for this, I don't plan on buying anymore nendoroids
Little by little GSC has been reducing the quality and accessories of new nendos but this is just peak soulless.
Inb4 price on blister-packed nendoroids inflates when they get cheaply-packed re-releases.
this was a really nice and detailed video about the new boxes!! thank you so much for uploading this ❤❤
I think what sucks as a casual collector with like 3 figurines is that I don't have a big shelf to store them on, so i have to keep them in a box to protect them.
EDIT: I also wanted to say your VTuber is the CUTEST, I was mesmerized just watching its ears move, I love the colors you chose and how bouncy everything is
to be honest, we as anime lovers, we are paying big money on those toys because i love them and we all are expecting the best quality.
So will my Blade PO 😭 and I already own Dan Heng, they will look so weird side by side
I'm thinking of canceling my yoko 2.0 figure because I just do not like this box or the new base
Buying directly from the their stores also makes it easier for them to slip in defected products and blame the buyers on it. 🤦
the entire appeal to them is that i like having them in a box to look at, what am i even looking at at this point, cardboard, i could literally print a picture and hang it on my wall and that would be more interesting.
First Hasbro, now GSC. Huge y i k e s
Money saved for back-collecting their old figures from now on.
That nendoroid box storage is the stupidest thing I've ever seen what's the point? This will stop me from buying any new nendoroids
Girl! Your commentary is hilarious! You got a new subscriber! You are definitely an OG anime figure collector because I see those Billy Figmas in the background 😂
PLEASE SEND HELP LOL nobody knows who he is anymore 😭😭😭😭
@ Girl! You know why 😂
I can't wait to see their sales plummet, wonder where they went wrong, and see them deflect blame onto us. Nah GSC you're own greed and producing subpar packaging are the reason, stop being dululu
Prize figure collectors exposed for not caring about boxes 👀
RIP to those whose series are still getting Nendoroid's and you can no longer have matching packaging display for the entire set
(This is about the remaining IDOLiSH7 nendoroids lol)
i was thinking the same thing about the i7 nendos lol. i take mine outta the box but have the boxes lined up side-view and the new difference in height and stuff would be so jarring
What figure collecting over these last few years has shown me is that being a Taiga fan is absolute pain.
Seems like another company cutting corners for profits.
It's terrible. Thank you GSC, now I have no desire to buy your awesome figures :,3 (great vid!)
I stopped buying new nendoroid figures because of this new package.
they better be making the nendoroids cheaper if they do this cuz this feels more like a trinket rather than a collectable figure
Not a good look in my opinion, but we’ll see what happens.
the drawer design thing looks neat
I mainly buy the nendoroid dolls because I like having something to dress up. I usually don't keep the boxes unless it's for storage
OMG you have Billy Herrinton figures, that's sick
i wish they make at least circle shaped window on the front in order to see it's genuine product
Good video though, first time seeing you
Nice voice (to not sound creepy, I mean how well you talked and made me understand even though I'm a non-native speaker)
My immediate concern about the new box design is that this kind of packaging can be used by scammers since no one can see the contents of the box...
with how much plastic they had to insert to pad the nendos, I doubt they're even really saving all that much plastic compared to before.
You and me both. I have been collecting for 12 years and a hater of change, especially bad ones.
I feel it was done to save costs
The same reason apple removed the wall adapter from the iPhone box
Make the box smaller so more product fits into the shipping box
Even just shipping them direct to customers the box is still small so cheaper shipping
Cheaper packaging cuz now there's no clear plastic that needs to be molded specifically to the figure
Everything was done to save a few bucks or pennies even for profit without lowering the price of course because the idea is to make more money without lowering the price to the consumer hahaha 🥴
Well a fun idea. You can paint and customize those boring stands.
I have over 50 Nendoroids, I actually don’t even know why I buy them because they annoy me so much, I only buy them to put beside their manga. But I don’t care about them, I only care about scales & statues.
Watching only the outside i was like well, it's worse but i can live with it but watching the inside was 💀
"We wanted to be better for the environment" Then proceeds to use Styrofoam in the packing material that cannot be recycled normally and usually gets thrown into trash.
