If you're buying a used car the first thing you should do is make sure all maintenance is done before any mods are done. Things like timing belt, fluid flushes, oil leaks, etc.
most sellers won't bother with this, and most of the time people selling their cars do so before the costly maintenance comes in, and you will have a hard time finding one that has done it before selling with it on record.

About that "Keeping the parts"... I agree with you. My teacher always says that aftermarket parts dealers always love young people. Because they always bring their stock motorcycle in (heck, it's not even a motorcycle, it's technically a scooter), install the aftermarket parts and left the stock parts to them.
The first suggestion is pretty nice. Actually, I would add one extra thing: if you plan to use it on the racing track, inspect the car, change/replace what's is needed, put a good set of tires and test the car without any modifications. This will help you to determine what you need to improve in your car and plan better your upgrades and enjoy your upgrades even more than you would if you just upgraded the car and never knew how it was stock. Sometimes your engine is already enough for your purpose and upgrading it won't make your car much better without a proper set of tires and a finely tuned suspension.
Last one is so relatable, I'm having trouble finding parts for my '69 Lincoln Continental Mk III :/ Especially since the '69 and '70 Mk III's have minor but but noticable differences and there's not many '69s running around, so I'm up poo creek without a paddle sometimes:') But tbh it's worth it cuz your grow closer to your car and know what's in it rather than having someone else do it 😁

Sweet car. I just watched Bladed Angel's video on exhaust mod basics - when you put in the X-pipe, what exact difference did it make? Did you notice a bit less torque down low?
Find a guy who knows about car on form or Facebook and ask them questions. Usually they are kind enough to tell you their experience and the do and don't
Verify everything you're told as well, with other guys who knows thing about your car before you do anything based on the forums. Make sure you understand what it is completely, the ups and down all of it. Swapped my engine and ECU with online information, even sourced the engine and harness on the forum. Not disappointed in the least with the results. I took my time though.
Nope, it would be good to keep in mind that every type of car needs different modifications to make the best of it, many cars benefit from removing extra weight and restrictions such as computer limiters and such, and a good set of sticky tyres, in front wheel drive car, or any car for that matter, getting a good set of tyres and a good suspension setup and some more aggressive brake pads, maybe braided brake lines, all of that would go a long way. Just dont spend too much money on things you dont need like gimmicks or spoilers and such especially if its a street car. Also, do research about your car on respective forums and such before you decide to do something, sometimes finding problems your car comes with stock and fixing them and/or improving them could go a long way. Hope that helps. Don't forget FWD cars have been pushed through the whole world, theres time attack cars (look at WTAC Civics and such) and theres drag FWD cars, and street turbo FWD cars with pretty amazingly engineered parts.
1. It lowers resale value. 2. You either know how to fix it or take it to performance shop when it breaks because most mechanics wont touch a modified car. 3. Reliability issues (sometimes) 4.less daily drive comfort (sometimes)
In the case of a truck, modding right away *can* be useful. Running boards and a fifth wheel are a definite for any truck and stuff like refinishing the bed or getting a new tailgate can be helpful with an old truck.
Very good list. My dad told me pretty much the same things when I first got my car, and even though I have no plans to sell it, I'm always keeping the stock parts that're still good.
When I hear about mods, I really feel I'm not a car guy since I've never found the appeal to modding my car, litteraly the only "mod" I would put to my Camaro are new tires and that's it, I'm perfectly okay with 650hp
Starfire Storm that’s amazing. Personally I’m currently not able to own a car but assuming I had an R34, I’d mod it to make it more of what it is, lowered with better springs and engine power buffed to at least 500 is what the car deserves, a bigger wing too probably.
That's perfectly fine, I think it would look kinda cool, probably another "mod" that I would put to my Camaro is the 1LE Package, it would have to be aftermarket though, since I doubt Chevy installs it to standard ZL1's
I’m with you. Mods come in and out of trend. Stock is timeless and clean. My exception is rare oem pieces i.e limited edition wheels or just oem improvements i.e seats from a better trim, but I just like the idea of my car being clean and just being a part of a crowd with certain modding potential is enough, I’ll let the others risk their cars. **I’m not opposed to proper suspension tuning either as it won’t impact on reliability or health of your car while making a world of difference. This is probably less relevant if you plan to drive your car in a straight line.
Starfire Storm when you have a fast car that looks fine stock then there's no reason, in my opinion, to modify it. Some examples are mustang gts and camaros with performance pack.
Bladed Angel please do a video on how people always start modding the engine first, i always see it, when someone gets a new car right away they go to the engine and slap a turbo and then they start having car problems, people need to start by deciding what kind of racecar they want it to be, it could be a daily driven drift car or a drag racer etc, next you should start deciding what mods you want on the car from body kits to handling to performance, then you need to make extra sure those are the mods you really need or want and last you need to start with handling, dont go to the engine first, its better to start with smaller cheaper and more basic mods like the suspension, steering wheel, steats etc. im a 14yo and thats what im doing its better to start this way cause then your gonna make a bunch of mistakes and waste alot of money its gonna be really frustrating. I see it on almost every car channel im subscribed to
Check out the Magnuson-Moss Act. The condensed version is: If a defect is caused by an aftermarket part, the repair for the defect may not be covered under warranty. The burden of proof is on the dealer to prove that the aftermarket part led to the failure. For example, if you burn a hole in a piston, and the only mod you have is a CAI, the burden of proof is on the dealer to prove that the CAI caused the piston failure. If they can prove it, the repair won't be covered under warranty. By the same token, if you have a power window failure, a shock absorber failure, or a clutch failure, they would have to cover those under warranty since installing a CAI has no bearing on those components. And, contrary to urban myth, a dealer cannot cancel your warranty. The warranty is provided by Ford motor company, not the dealer. Under extreme circumstances, the factory may instruct the dealer that it's voiding the powertrain warranty, but they cannot void the entire vehicle warranty because of installation of an aftermarket part. In reality, a lot depends on your dealer, the rapport you have with them, and how mod-friendly they are. But even then, they can only go so far. They have rules and policies to abide by as well. So you make your mods and you take your chances, or wait until the warranty runs out.
another thing for those starting out. Make sure you know how your car goes together in the area you are looking at modding. I was modding my whole exhaust system on my 2013 ZR1 and I F**ked up on the rear end assembly so bad I ripped off the mounting point for the floor of the car, which meant a very, very expensive part was going to need to be replaced on top of my exhaust system. In my case this wound up being beneficial to allowing me to get the next parts I was looking for on my car though, so now I have a rear end diffuser from a C6.R on my rear end. I just had to advance my schedule of when I was planning on doing things and reworking my budget cause it wound up being an additional 5k that I was planning on spending a couple months down the line and not at that time. whoops. Since then I have gotten the vast majority of all of the parts I have wanted on the car installed to make it a better track car. I now have an adjustable rear wing installed on the rear end, and a splitter on the front and I have also gotten a band new floor mod that helps blend the stock bottom of the car into the diffuser at the rear. My next stop will be on the brakes cause the stock brakes aren't lasting as long as I'd like them to on the track, but they are expensive AF, however, considering they are really the only step above what I have now I have a few months of saving ahead of me (like 18 months. they're a $14k set of Brembos)
Angel, gotta say, I'm a huge fan of your channel, love all the car videos as well as the anime and car memes. I especially love the anime music in the backgrounds.
Don't forget having a plan for passing smog. In CA this entails making sure you put the stock cats and tune back on and making sure all your other parts in front of the catback are CARB legal. Its a pain
Today, I saw the most beautiful thing ever. There's this little dealership about a 15 minute drive from my house. A while back, I noticed that there were a couple cars there that looked like a pair of RX-7 FC's. Today I finally decided to check it out and I saw that there was not only a white and a red FC, but there was also an AE86, an old Miata, and an old Supra. They all had pop up lights and I'm pretty sure the white FC was used to race, judging by the interior. First chance I get, I'm stopping by and taking a look at their prices, and you bet your ass I'm buying one of those cars once I have the money
Love your videos man. Subscribed a few weeks/month ago and haven't looked back since then. Me personally, I'm looking forward to modding my 1st Gen Acura TL. (Driven it for 4 years now) Lol but I'm starting off fairly simple. Spark plugs, Tires, new lights, window tint, and MAYBE an exhaust system (if I can find one) I want to do more but you know, my knowledge is still growing.
LOl the ending "relies on hate" aha. But i agree. Bought my dream used car, was planning to add exhaust, turbos, and lots of other cool mods but then one month in having my car, a lot of problems arised. Leaked oil, water pump, timing belt, and transmission issues which totaled up to 3k repairs after paying 4.5k for the car (sadlyfe). Good thing i didnt purchase any mods yet tho. I recommend repairing your car first, changing weared down rotors, old wheel spacers, change fluids, get a full diagnostic with your car first, etc. Will save you in the long run
Fun fact, according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a car manufacturer can't legally void your warranty unless they can prove that the car's failure was due to the use of the aftermarket part.
dude , love ur channel and keep up the good work , but don’t over work yourself making videos . You’re a really good person and i hope you get all the sleep you can get
I worked for a repossession company and I've seen countless people put after market mods and they do not get any of that back! Make sure you're car is paid off/financially reasonable!
0:37 , In some places is better to mod the car first day (especially if you import it) in my country the rules are extremely strict, and in the future, I wish to buy a Subaru BRZ, and mod it with some taillights and a wind (the original taillights looks awful) and I need to import it from USA into Europe, so I can import it in France for example, make the mods there (or another country with more lose roles than mine) register it there and pass the inspections (I will need to do those inspections even if I don't mod it) then import it in my country and register it again so it will be moved legally. Also, the insurances want you to pay extra for your mods and also keep the recipe u got from them and install them in a service, this is what someone from insurance told me once. In this way, the insurance will gladly pay for the moded parts too if they didn't cause the accident and were tested properly before at the service.
I'm not a car enthusiast so if I were to mod, the only things I would most likely mod are the suspension, intake, exhaust, breaks, lighter rims, maybe get some better tires. I'd mod the engine if I knew how to but I don't and no one around me does. Too scared to learn by myself and mess up my engine.
I have a question bladed angel: what is better spend $10 000 on a good car or buy a shit car for less than 1k and spen the rest modding it as i like according my personality because i want my car to reflect some of it.? And thank you
Maybe not $1k, but if you want to buy a cheaper car instead to mod it, than that's great! Project cars are fun, but keep in mind there is a lot of patience required. The $10K good car will roll right off the lot, no problems, but also no personality :P Modding is more than just a money investment, so If you have time on your hands, than go for it. Otherwise, try to find a happy medium. Like a $5K car with some basic mods.
My dad has a ford raptor and it got an aftermarket bumper when we first got it He bought a stock bumper and had it put back on My mustang also has an aftermarket exhaust and wheels But I will say I think the car is better that way The mods actually fit the car and aren’t too extreme Not like some Honda Civic owners
Tbh handling mods go a way longer way that power mods.. stock car, race tires, brakes, suspension, and bars > 700hp car w/ shitty tires, worn brakes, shot suspension
I basically found out the hard way how modding can go wrong for some of these. 1. Lost my warranty when the super-charger I added on my car ended up dropping a bolt into the engine. 2. You don't get your money back on mods and usually people buying don't care, especially car dealers. 3. For California I found out some of the mods I thought were CA safe and legal for smog weren't.
I bought new rims for my '87 GMC pickup and didn't check my notes before purchasing them. The backspacing was off and I had already had the tires put on so I had to buy spacers for it. Oh well.
dinan tunes im pretty sure will keep ur warranty if u mod it at dealer or dinan shop but if u do it your self then bye bye warranty so ima look for dinan tunes for my M2
Most car and truck companies allow axle back except Ford. Which I mean their diesel trucks since there tip has a special sensor. It can easily detect modification or somewhat I think 2016 and up correct me if I'm wrong.
I want a 57 chevy in sky blue, sealed and epoxy clear coat wooden bed, and then modernize the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. Either using a coyote, LS, or something like crate 350.
You forgot brake hoses. OEM rubber brake hoses will eventually rot out and blow. I've heard of a guy who's now spending his life in prison because he went to race someone, tried to stop at a red light after doing that, his brake hoses blew out and he ran over a motorcyclist from being unable to stop. I was lucky; mine went as I was pulling into a parking space rather than approaching a red light. Brakes are unexciting, but probably more important than just about anything else. Getting them checked before you start adding power is probably a good idea.
"Don't mod right away." Tell that to Carroll Shelby..... But then again, I feel you. I almost purchased a tuner last week, but then my ac blend box went out. :/
If you know what your buying you can buy a modded car that is pro tuned and save yourself lots of mod money cause the previous owner did lotsa pricy upgrades for you. Just be careful, the more powerful the tune the more stressed the components so do some research before just buying a good looking modded car has no check engine light showing.
The 86 doesn't need much, a catback if you want more exhaust sound, and either a subwoofer or just a full sound system for your music, and finally if you aren't going to drift it around like a hooligan then maybe change the tires so something with a bit more grip. Styling is good otherwise.

then someone else at faults hit you and the insurance company owns your car and you have defrauded them. smart. insure your mods kids if you are building anything worth while, jus sayin.
At that point you might as well have minimum liability coverage, since they aren't going to cover anything else if you wreck it.
in that case only ask them to cover theft and not damages, my friend did the same with an mr2 that he raced and as long as the insurance didn't have to cover any damages they were more than happy to give him low rates, but it depends if you are getting insurance for protection purposes or just so that you can legally drive on the road.
If you're buying a used car the first thing you should do is make sure all maintenance is done before any mods are done. Things like timing belt, fluid flushes, oil leaks, etc.
Agreed and you may have meant this, but assume that none of this has recently been done so get it done yourself to be sure.
most sellers won't bother with this, and most of the time people selling their cars do so before the costly maintenance comes in, and you will have a hard time finding one that has done it before selling with it on record.

That's perfectly fine, I think it would look kinda cool, probably another "mod" that I would put to my Camaro is the 1LE Package, it would have to be aftermarket though, since I doubt Chevy installs it to standard ZL1's
I'd say go for it if it will make you love the car more!
2:58 great editing 👍🏻👍🏻😂
Hey man, keep uploading these videos, I'm enjoying them!
This video is completely true.. always keep your oem parts, especially now a days because they are hard to come by
4:18 Hey look a SAAB! ❤
You had me 8 seconds in. That picture of the baby is perfect 😂
I see it on almost every car channel im subscribed to
I really love the metamorphosis that this channel has gone through. Keep up the good work.
6) Any engine mods you do to a modern car is gonna require some ECU tuning so that it runs right.
For first mods I’m thinking exhaust, intake, weight reduction
I even "break in" cars in Forza. I like to fix problems in the way it drives, rather than mod it immediately.
IM EXCITED FOR THE NEXT VIDEO!!!! I’ve always been iffy on my understanding of exhausts
Streetspeed717 should watch this
Guitars Creed he should do more than that, like get a brain.
spaceship80sguy or ss80sg lol 😂😂
spaceship80sguy 😂
I know this is an old ass video, but I went down the rabbit hole and wanted to say you earned a sub. Thanks for the vids.
Don't forget having a plan for passing smog. In CA this entails making sure you put the stock cats and tune back on and making sure all your other parts in front of the catback are CARB legal. Its a pain
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE MAN! IT REALLY HELPED. DO MORE OF THESE ADVICE VIDEOS.
It’s true. I want a gt500 soon but they all have like 650 hp and modded up, I’d like an unmodified one
They all come with 650 stock 💀
Today, I saw the most beautiful thing ever. There's this little dealership about a 15 minute drive from my house. A while back, I noticed that there were a couple cars there that looked like a pair of RX-7 FC's. Today I finally decided to check it out and I saw that there was not only a white and a red FC, but there was also an AE86, an old Miata, and an old Supra. They all had pop up lights and I'm pretty sure the white FC was used to race, judging by the interior. First chance I get, I'm stopping by and taking a look at their prices, and you bet your ass I'm buying one of those cars once I have the money
I like this new direction you're taking, cool video bro
1:51 oh god, that middle eastern meal makes me hungry just by looking at it
Love your videos man.
Thanks bro, your vids are hella good! Tbh even if i knew some of it already then there's obviously somethings i didn't know
Love your videos, man. Informative and entertaining.
Fun fact, according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a car manufacturer can't legally void your warranty unless they can prove that the car's failure was due to the use of the aftermarket part.
Also expect more things to break than usual, regardless of make
dude , love ur channel and keep up the good work , but don’t over work yourself making videos . You’re a really good person and i hope you get all the sleep you can get
Not a dedicated car enthusiast but subscribed for that plethora joke.
Do you know a good online store where can I buy over night parts from Japan?
North Korea commie fucks.org
Keep your OG catalytic converter if you ever decide to change the entire exhaust piping. You save yourself for smog check later on.
2:38 pic had me laughing for some reason
The $10K good car will roll right off the lot, no problems, but also no personality :P
Modding is more than just a money investment, so If you have time on your hands, than go for it. Otherwise, try to find a happy medium. Like a $5K car with some basic mods.
Bladed Angel thank you so much for the help...have a nice day
lucy SDMN Buy an old volvo,iy is cheap, good drift car,you can put almost any engine under the hood,it is reliable
MAXX YT i thaught about that..thank you tho
lucy SDMN get a 240sx they have loads of them for 5k or under that work and run
Thanks for vid bro. We appreciate you hard work. 👍
hate? since the first random video in recommendations i found your content worth my time. keep up the good work bud!! ;)
would like to see a part 2 to this topic with more in depth guide for beginners
Bladed 2017: I'm done relying on hate. I'm going to be a more informative channel
Bladed 2021: Weebvette for life and no one can tell me otherwise!
My dad has a ford raptor and it got an aftermarket bumper when we first got it
He bought a stock bumper and had it put back on
My mustang also has an aftermarket exhaust and wheels
But I will say I think the car is better that way
The mods actually fit the car and aren’t too extreme
Not like some Honda Civic owners
Tbh handling mods go a way longer way that power mods.. stock car, race tires, brakes, suspension, and bars > 700hp car w/ shitty tires, worn brakes, shot suspension
I always wanted to tune my father's 1998 ford mondeo, it was really agile for being a diesel sedan and had good cornering...
Yoooo the space dandy reference, lit
1:55 I've seen those hipsters on the scholarships.com website.
Al Bundy Fuck dude, I thought I was the only one that recognized that.
Awesome video bladed keep them up who else was here at 1K?
I bought new rims for my '87 GMC pickup and didn't check my notes before purchasing them. The backspacing was off and I had already had the tires put on so I had to buy spacers for it. Oh well.
I want to put Turbo on mine Scion TC what do i need to change before something will fuck up?
Bladed i freakin died laughing at the semi truck lmao
dinan tunes im pretty sure will keep ur warranty if u mod it at dealer or dinan shop but if u do it your self then bye bye warranty
so ima look for dinan tunes for my M2
Most car and truck companies allow axle back except Ford. Which I mean their diesel trucks since there tip has a special sensor. It can easily detect modification or somewhat I think 2016 and up correct me if I'm wrong.
I want a 57 chevy in sky blue, sealed and epoxy clear coat wooden bed, and then modernize the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. Either using a coyote, LS, or something like crate 350.
I love the fact you have to make sure that people know you don't have a flowmaster exhaust
What if you want to have a barn find and it’s an old mustang with components already built into it but it just needs a few more parts?
Am I the only one, that just want a stock *Toyota GT86.*
Mettz Gaming 97 There's visioracer
Mettz Gaming 97 no you are not. I believe some cars should be modded but others no.
yes
I want a stock 2nd Gen Eclipse lmao
The 86 doesn't need much, a catback if you want more exhaust sound, and either a subwoofer or just a full sound system for your music, and finally if you aren't going to drift it around like a hooligan then maybe change the tires so something with a bit more grip. Styling is good otherwise.
You should make a vid about car parts and brands for those who are new to the car world !😁
