  • In this video I demonstrate how to play 6 classic Van Halen Riffs that are not only easy, but a lot of fun to play. The riffs are Mean Steet, Feel Your Love Tonight, Women In Love, Loss Of Control and Hot For Teacher. These riffs are all from the classic David Lee Roth era. Eddie had a knack for creating catchy riffs that were also awesome to play on guitar and sounded so cool. I hope you enjoy this sampling of riffs and enjoy the video. Please subscribe!

Another great video from you, thanks Marty. I must confess that I wasn't a big Van Halen fan and for many years it seemed like they had disappeared from the scene: I was wrong. (I don't live in the United States) I was stuck with the 1984 album and his fantastic songs. but I must say that since I started following this channel I have gradually discovered the beauty of many pieces that I had missed. I missed out on so much beautiful music, and many songs, even old ones, are totally new to me as if they had just been released because I didn't know them. With your channel, thanks to the precise and timely explanations of many passages (which normally escape the ear and which cannot be appreciated if they are not explained well technically) it is possible to appreciate the beauty, the technique, the genius and the superhuman vigor of Eddie Van Halen. A boy who has now become immortal with his music. a guy I always want to remember with an incredible smile when he was on stage and playing. you could see that he took an absurd pleasure in playing and couldn't help but smile. bringing contagious joy to others. Thank you for this work Marty.

It's extremely fun for me to be to be able to play some of his music and admire others who are able to tackle the more advanced stuff. What pedals and amp are you using? Are you on the bridge pickup?
Are you a John Frusciante and red hot chili peppers fan? They did a tribute song called Eddie. John usually doesn't tap and try to play flashy, but in that song he does some whammy tricks and tap. It'll he cool if you did a lesson for rhcp "Eddie". I like the live versions because the solos are improvised.

I feel the intro is 5th fret. I recently heard Pete Thorn do it for Dweezil and he was pulling off on the 3rd during the verses and my ears perked up. I was like damn that's it. It's so much nastier.

I think on the pull offs that it goes it alternates2 0 4 0 5 0 4 0 5 0 2. i wish i could make a full line of tab but i hope you see what i mean. i think you drop back down to the second fret when you dont need to. i could be wrong. something is just hitting me funny about that section and i have been listening to the album since i bought it in 1979. lol
