The service manual states on pg.15-69 the torque for both drain plugs to be 47 N-m (4.8kgf-m, 35 lbf-ft). For some reason, they ask you to use ATF-Z1 in the rear differential as well but do NOT use the modern day equivalent of DW-1 as the specification has changed over the years and DPSF is the new recommended fluid.
ATF is as simple as an oil change. just measure what you take out and replace that same amount. I think it's between 3 and 4 quarts...it's been a while since I did my Odyssey, but same process with the TL.
awesome video! i have a '09 SH and was wondering if we have a front diff/transfer case on our cars? If we do, could you post a video how to replace the fluid? (not a big car guy).
well what i was wondering was if our cars have a front differential? i looked it up and it says theres a front diff and it takes a little less than a quart of fluid.

No.....Diff fluid is light golden in color and trans fluid is pinkish in color ....please put correct one in correct place or you'll have serious problems.
Is changing the transmission fluid (2010 5spd auto awd) the same as changing the front transfer fluid? Or is that going to be somehig different entirely?
Looks like you replaced the clutch case fluid (~2.8 QT) but not the differential fluid (~0.77 QT). Not sure if it's the same for your model but my 2009 RL has two drain/fill ports. Might want to look into that for yours.
According to the 09-10 acura TL dealers maintenance manual, it's called a rear differential (on SH-AWD models) and the overhaul requires 2.77 L. Note this car is an automatic transmission and there is not a separate clutch case and differential case.
Mr. Rich Peterson is right because the SH-AWD system has clutches on both side of the rear differential. They regulate the torque moment by moment and they operate in an oil bath. They are technically in a separated unit with 3.1l oil (the change is 2.7l). The differential unit need 0.75l fluid (change is 0.73l)
It is very simple. The two clutches has common oil space. So, there are two drain and two filling hole. One for the differential one for the clutches. The holes of clutch house is on the driver (left) side of the diff+clutches unit. I hope I could help You!

Thank you so much for showing on how to change a differential fluid for Acura 2009. It is very much in detail.
Glad I could help.

besides the horrible sounding screen changing sound, great video
Awesome video man👍👍 Helped me a lot
+Dimitriy Novak You're very welcome.
Wow you make this so simple! Now I wish the ATF was this easy
+Ken S I'm looking into that. it's time for mine to be done.
ATF isn't hard just needs to be done 3x3 (3 times in day increments) so kind of costly around $100. same tools required,

Would the RL be the same?
Good video. Now I need one on the transfer case. If you have that video reply to me with the link please.
Great job Kris!

I have a video on changing the transmission fluid, check it out

@@BryanW916 front diff is built into transmission
@@michaell7090 Not my car, the front diff is after the trans. It takes about a half quart of gear oil.
@@BryanW916 is your vehicle manual ?
Great tips Thanks.
This video is very helpful. Could you do a ATF replacement video? Thanks in advance!
+FearlessMinerGamer I'm looking into that. it's time for mine to be done.
Thanks a lot well done
great video, any chance you going to do one for the front diff? or the heldex?
Like this ? ua-cam.com/video/LFrt4lnaFuo/v-deo.html
That seems pretty simple. Would this be the same for a 2010 acura RL sh-awd
Not sure, but if I had to guess I would say yes
By any chance can you share the Amazon links on the items used in the video? Thanks in advance, Rich.

Do they have Front Differential Fluid ?
not that I'm aware of, but you will need to change your transmission fluid as indicated. ua-cam.com/video/LFrt4lnaFuo/v-deo.html
Hello please is all wheel fluid the same thing as transmission fluid.
No.....Diff fluid is light golden in color and trans fluid is pinkish in color ....please put correct one in correct place or you'll have serious problems.
Do you think it would be a bad idea to use an impact instead of a breaker bar?
The casing is aluminum and i'd worry about it cracking. Not sure.
Thanks! I’ll use a breaker bar instead.
You can use an impact to break it loose. A universal socket joint will help you get in there easier

I have the same question.

No problem

You dont want to jack the back up only leaving the vehicle uneven. This will cause an inaccurate fluid level.
He lowered it back down to let the fluid drain out so it is even😂

@@zoltanpaksy5907 can you explain that a bit more? If I understand correctly there are 3 fluids to replace within the rear differential assembly?

Thanks. I confirmed that this generation TL does NOT have 2 Chambers I'm the differential
Will this work for a 2012 as well??
