    I generally pride myself on having experienced every problem a guitarist can have, but your thumb experience is new to me. Three things come to mind on this: 1) You may be practicing too much. Most guitarists play with an over extended thumb tip and don't have problems with it. Playing the guitar is not a natural activity, and different people's hands have different reactions to the stress of normal playing. 2) You may be pressing too hard. This is easy to fix. 3) You might try flexing the tip till it's straight, but not over flexed. I don't think you should lift the thumb off the neck. When you do this it probably means the bicep is being used during that time to depress the strings . This can give you back pain. When moving from string to string with the left hand in say, scales, the fingers and the wrist can change their angle as long as the change is not extreme. The thumb can move around as needed in other left hand situations.

    You get a thumb's-up from me. Good on you for hitting the practice bench instead of the party.

    The reverb on the sighs during the flubs really brings out the despair in the mistakes. Incredible playing as always!!!

    I really like how you, heaving yt Name as Sor Hands, come to a conclusion as literal Fernando Sor. Stating "Thumb is another finger" is a quote from his book.
    Btw IF someone wants to find english version of Fernando Sors book. First edition or evwn a second one. Its free on the internet. You can download pdf from Spanish national library

    Tried working on this last night bc I have a left thumb injury but it feels uncomfortable..not in a painful way it’s just that my thumb isn’t use to that position. I’ll give it another try

    Interesting points on thumb moving in tandem with the fingers. I see what you mean for a scale as your fingers are moving to different strings together - how would this work for chord changes ? Morel 3’d movement was cool - hope you bust out a short with one of the insane passages

    When playing scales like that on fixed position you should not change the position of the thumb for each string change, you must compensate rotating your arm keping your wrist straithg.

    I'm an absolute amateur so don't take any advice from me. I would try and spend some time even in a shop just trying different guitars ..My thumb does not move when going up and down when doing scales or some music phrases for that matter. Maybe as I progress it will, though must say I'm focused on accuracy more than ever at this stage....Talking of diaphragm's ...There is never a wasted moment when focusing on the diaphragm and the nose for delivering mans 1st priority....Breathing (don't underestimate that task as over half the population do) 2nd priority hydration , leaving rest and food in a fight for 3rd and 4th which leaves 5th place for performance /efficiency being a by product of 1,2,3 &4

    Is by any chance your audio interface not supplying enough or steady phantom power? The dynamic mic working rules out cable and interface/connection point issues.

    Hi, which guitar support are you using? It looks like an Ergoplay, but which model? And are you happy with it? Thanks!

    • @Sorhands
      @Sorhands  Місяць тому +1

      It’s the ergoplay, idk which model but it’s the one with one joint. I do like it! Much better than the foot stool

      @@Sorhands Yeah, the footstool is terrible, did you know it's one of Segovia's legacies?, I wrote a long comment about this in another's content creator. I'll try to find it and give you the pointer here.
