I've got my Mi Band 5 yesterday and it's so much better than my Fitbit Versa 2! I love the small and simple design on the Mi Band and it has so many better features and more exercise options than the Fitbit. The small design also makes it comfortable enough to wear everyday.
Menstrual tracking is also available, but disabled for various reasons

But it does seem to be just an incremental update over the mi band 4! They should call it mi band 4s!
As u mentioned already we need 'always on display' option. But apart from that, I wish they introduce a 'plus' version in the mi band 6, with option of onboard storage for storing music and able to listen using BT earphones!
I think you're asking for too much. It is still very cheap band. If you want always on display or storage for music buy some of more expensive watches or bands.
@@smartbug1 yes expectations are high, and I dont expect that at this price point. I am just seeing a saturation in mi bands, so they can increase the price, but they should come up with a plus or pro version!

I have a mi band 3, i'd say they use similar materials in the 5, careful with DEET mosquito/insect spray it can cloud the HR sensor

Just got my mi band 5 today. It's amazing IF this is your first mi band, but actually it is not so much upgrade from mi band 4.. so better hold on with your mi band 4 if you have already have one. Another drawbacks of mi band 5 is it isn't supported by Amazfit apps yet so no luck for connecting it with Strava (iphone)

The band is excellent but I'd recommend using the 'notify for mi band' third party application which offers far more options for tracking than the mi fit app.
But it is not comfortable for ios
Thank you for the review. I ordered mine during a sale on Aliexpress and it's still in transit. I needed to know if I could use the magnetic charger with it and your review helped after I scoured articles that were not informative at all. I am currently using a Mi Band 2, and definitely needed an upgrade.
Is the brightness a lot better than the mi band 2 ? Because it’s literally impossible for me to read the time outside.
@@TheCrazyMiss hard to compare, since miband 5 display is absolutely something else than miband2, it is LOT better, with colors too! :)
@@TheCrazyMiss The brightness is much better on the Mi Band 5. You can also customise your own display using photos. I am extremely glad I bought it. The alarm will vibrate, too. Oh, and you can definitely see the time in daylight.
I just wanted to say thanks for this review. My fitbit charge 3 died, and I really didn't want to spend over 100.00 just to track steps and running workouts. I also do weight watchers and like to get credit for my workouts. I synced mi fit app to apple health on my phone, then use apple health to get the info into my ww app. It's working great so far and I really like the Mi Band 5! Thanks again for your review!

12:12 yepp it is even happen with the screen LOCKED ON hahaha. My band 5 battery can only last for 7 days with all notification turn on and i wore it everyday which is not bad. I personally love it for its functionality over the price :)
As long as it doesn't wig out and vibrate randomly and prevent me from using the thing at all, even charging it, or in any way functional, and as long as the screen doesn't just fall out and render the entire thing a dead weight, it already has far surpassed any fitbit device I've owned...

Just the NFC is only in the chinese version
(12:14 ish) just set your band to lock in settings(on the band) and you will have a lock like with the swimming function.
I got it and syncs perfect with NRC (Nike Run Club)..love it.

Does the heart rate monitor give a second by second live reading on the home screen or do you have to initiate it and wait?
+Mike O'Brien How's the accuracy of the calories burned in a workout? There was a huge difference of almost 100 calories when compared to Suunto 7. Is that also because the distance was off by almost a mile?

Barometer can be used for diving to tell the water pressure which in turn can tell you how deep you are under water.
Which app did you use in this video with mi band 5?
I have the mi band 5 and really like it. One thing I find frustrating is that the numbers on the screen when you use the outdoor running function are very small and hard to see whilst you are running along. Is there an app that will sync with the mi fit app that will show bigger numbers on the screen that are more visible, especially the stopwatch element?
I had the same problem, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any solution at the moment.

Hi, can you recommend / do you know of a smart band that takes continuous heart rate reading and that give you a buzz or alerts you at predeterminate times? Something perhaps that you can program the alarm yourself to alert you when the heart rate rises above a certain threshold? Thanks!!!

Good review! As a Miband 4 owner some of the downsides are still present in the Miband 5. Timer and stopwatch stop showing because the screen is not always on, even in these use cases where it should be. Heartrate monitor looks ok for everyday use now (Miband 4 is very poor at this), but is too inaccurate for realistic sportstracking. Seems it is on par with the Amazfit watches now (subbrand of Xiaomi), who suffer the same heartrate issues. And shower/pool setting is missing, which makes it unable to wear under the shower without starting workouts accidentaly or other unintended behaviour. As I was looking to replace my Miband 4 I finally decided to buy a Garmin Vivoactive watch, which does all this and so much more at a much higher cost. For people with a small budget or just the daily activity monitoring wish it is a nobrainer, though.
The Garmin vivoactive watches are very impressive. If you want to seriously track your health and fitness, Garmin is an easy recommendation. Thanks for watching!
I just bought the Fitbit Aspire 2, and after looking at this MI Band 5, I am returning the Fitbit which has some bugs, and I ordered the MiBand 5. Love the color display.

Can it wake you up? With something like a vibration motor?
Does it record altitude when cycling? For some reason, Mi Band 4 didn't. There were workarounds to this, but it's always good to know :p
I think the barometer is for detecting flights of stairs climbed.
I would hope it's used for when you're running/cycling uphill or downhill. It might provide for more accurate calorie, distance or speed readings? Here's hoping.
where do I place my band to record my sleep stages. Itll say 3 hrs or 1 and that's not correct I my have it on the wrong part of my wrist? too far up? too far sown, I've tried both

Nicely done! ✅ Mazel tov. I just wish they had Alexa voice interaction and a speaker/microphone. Also blood oxygen detection. I know why they omitted these features to keep the low price point. But I would be willing to pay more for these features.
Hopefully as technology advances and prices keep dropping, those features will appear with the same price point! ☺️
The Honor Band 5 is much cheaper than this though and it has NFC and SpO2 sensor.

OK I currently have a fit bit charge three which is basically junk because my screen is all white and unreadable. This my third fitbit and my last.Can the Mi Band 5 be used with a computer operating on windows ten instead of a smart watch. I am 68 years old and do not have a smart phone nor do i want one. My computer is just fine. i am looking for a replacement for my useless fitbit.

Regarding the wrong measure of distance I dont understand. Shouldnt the gps from the phone measure the right distance for the run for the mi band?
Is it possible to turn off the bluetooth on this device? I've read somewhere that is not. Sleeping 8 hours with bluetooth on beaming right next to my head sounds not very "healthy".

I already have mi band4 and i think I don't need to upgrade to mi band 5 this year because 80 percent of the functions of mi band 4 and mi band 5 are same.

Having built-in GPS would be really nice, but would certainly add to the cost and size. We'll have to see how they implement that

I’ve used it and it’s pretty handy! I don’t know if it’s accurate, but I think it’s pretty accurate. You can also count your jumps witch is also cool.

How high does the timer on the 5 count too? The 4 only goes to 99min99sec.

the mi band 5 dissapointed me in so many ways but the most important one is that its supposed to last approximately 14 days with a full charge.
mine was empty after 2 days without anything activated (heartrate, sleep monitor, stress etc) i was just wearing it. the only thing it counted was my steps. so i send it back
