Tissot PRX: Was it really worthy of all the hype?

- Time has gone by and with the benefit of both time and hindsigt, I'm taking a look at the Tissot PRX Powermatic mechanical and quartz models that recieved a lot of positive attention when released.
There's not a lot of watches in this price point like, so the question is - Is it good or just the only one?
Mike,
I just want to thank you for this channel. I’ve been a watch fan since 2021 but haven’t found a content that really does a deep analysis of the watch and it’s design, value, significance, etc. in a way that’s intellectually satisfying. You are the first guy that I actually really enjoy listening to. The technical jargon, geeky fascination with reference numbers, hype blow hards just don’t do it for me. Just want to let you know in a very short time you’ve become my favorite watch guy. Thank you.
Wow. Thanks, that's really appreciated. I try my best to deliver something worth watching so I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the sub 😀😀😀👍
After I finally got some time with my PRX, in quartz, I agree strongly on the "don't bother with the automatic" aspect. With the quartz I get the bracelet/case style and finishing which are the real selling points, for a LOT less.
Precisely 😀
i don't like the sunburst dials tho, too reflective and otherwise not that interesting. though the mint green is brushed so if you enjoy that colour and don't find it too feminine or whatever it's probs the sweet spot.
You don’t get the waffle dial with the quartz
Well weighted review. After 2 years I am still enjoying my PRX and after a year still enjoying my PRX Chronograph. They are nice watches.
I went auto because I do not wear quartz (ya, I am a snob).
Bought a blue PRX auoto on a cruise for $495. USD. Love the look and the comfort of the watch. I especially like the way the case and bracelet play in the sunlight. They sparkle and look far above its price. I can't afford the $2000 +watches that are better. It is my favorite watch along with my Seiko Save the Ocean King Samurai(on a blue strap) and my Zelos Aurora.
Wow that's a steal, congrats man!
Ooh the Samurai. That’s a cool watch and just goes to show you can get great watches without having to break the bank
Money doesn’t get you a watch that will make you happier. The watch you connect with will.
😀😀
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch "Money doesn’t get you a watch that will make you happier. The watch you connect with will." This has to be one of the best quotes I've read on the internet being a modest watch semi-collector :)
Get the 35 mm quartz. Save money, let’s face it the bracelet is the star and it’s the size of the 70’s original. I’m happy with it.
Agree. The 35 also wears a bit better for many. Good choice
I want to but that waffle dial..
I did the same. Quartz was the best value. Their automatic looks great but he was right about the sound. Haha
I’ve had 3 PRX Quartz, something made me keep selling them and have zero regrets doing so. There was nothing wrong with the watches but I found them plain and boring. So I never picked them up to wear.
I always said why would your spend the extra to get the auto!
Well I recently picked up the Blue Powermatic 80 for a great price and so far I’m really enjoying it.
Ultimately the slight differences , in particular the waffle dial and enjoying the watch run about +3 per day is enough to give the watch more character to me.
This one is being worn and staying (for now)😉
@@elliot9227 You know, I never wore mine either after the honeymoon phase wore off. My wife loves it so no harm done. The 40 mm powermatic in green is calling my name.
Just found your channel. I love the way your present your arguments and knowledge.
Personally, I love the PRX, but I can't pull it off with my wrist size/shape.
Hoping to see more of you!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. I’ll do my best to put out some watchable content 👍🤞
Really appreciate your well informed and concise analysis.
Thanks - Glad you enjoyed it 😀😀
You don't enjoy loud mouthed watch snobs yelling profanities every 5 seconds ?
Agree 👍 Quartz in the PRX is the 👌 best. I have the white dial Quartz and keep getting compliments.
How refreshing to see someone actually talking sense about the watch.
It's a perspective at least 😊😊
I've been binge watching your channel and love it! I bought into the PRX hype a year ago and still really like it. I can't stand the Presage bracelet and the Seiko movement is a big caveat. I bought the glacier blue and it's fantastic. A year ago it was only $650 !
man i love ur channel.
I personally dont like Quartz cuz it makes me stare at the second hand n whether it matches the index o not 😂😂
so i got automatic. U always spread good msg and a neutral one. giving the viewer the ultimate msg "hear my opinion n buy what u want"
Thanks for the feedback - appreciated 😊
Mike, I think you're the first watch reviewer that has shared my view that the quartz is the nicer watch. I very nearly bought one once but ended up with a CW63 Sealander.
It's my honest opinion at least 😀😀
Just ordered the blue automatic from Jomashop for $509. Very much looking forward to getting it!
Nice video, subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed the vid and congrats on the watch!!!!😀
Thanks for your review. Will be getting the quartz version.
Good choice! 😀😀
Always check to make sure the hands are hitting the marks correctly before buying this magnificent watch which I chose to purchase from my local jewelry store and am very happy I purchased the Tissot PRX 40mm Quartz because you'll never have to stop to fiddle with it in any way shape or form and have worn it every day, I find that the butterfly bracelet is very comfortable and interesting when ever you put it on your wrist,I just can't wait to put it right back on after giving it a good cleaning using a little alcohol to disinfect and clean it,It's just a fun and elegant watch just knowing you took time and did research before giving yourself the go ahead.Once you've put it on you'll say awww Wow,what an elegant and comfortable watch I have bought just for me,Tissot PRX 40mm Quartz is an absolute beast making it the the one all watch companies are trying to compare theirs to,beating the price comfort and durability all in a perfectly made watch from Switzerland.Buy yours today and you'll be absolutely glad you did.
Great analysis and thank you for focusing on the undue importance and price premium placed on the mechanical movement in this instance. As far as the design, I know that it's effectively a reissue of their old Seastar Quartz (one more reason the mechanical movement makes less sense here), but the bracelet finishing and waffle dial makes the PRX seem more like a cheap AP or Zenith knock-off than a modernization of a legacy model, which undercut's the watch's legitimate heritage.
Good points all! 😀
That the thing with these integrated designs - you run the risk of being compared to models that are far superior and the being left with a perception of just being a, relatively speaking, cheap knock off - where in an isolated, contextless scenario you might stand fairly strong.
Thanks for taking the time to contribute 💪
Just got the back Chameleon dial. Blue to purple. Gorgeous.
Just a few days ago I found your channel after my month long binge of watch content, following my family gifting me my first serious watch (ended up being a Tissot Gentleman), and have to say, thanks for creating it. There are other quality channels around that helped me navigate watches and ultimately choose the Gentleman, but your channel adds a huge amount of value to the space that would otherwise be missing. Your videos are measured, critical and objective, well thought out and ultimately bring a much needed amount of reason to what is a generally very emotionally driven topic. Your channel has fast become my favourite on the topic of watches.
On the topic of sub-1000$ steel bracelet watches, isn't the Tissot Gentleman another contender in that area? Not that the style of bracelet is all that comparable, but I do think it edges out the Seiko bracelets in look and quality.
EDIT; I ended up writing and posting this comment just half a minute before you mentioned Tissot being its own competition in that area with the Gentleman, so my final bit of text is kinda superfluous, isn't it.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I'm glad you enjoy my channel 😀😀
🙇♂️ My wrist is 14.5 cm or 5.7 inches. Anything over 43.5mm lug-to-lug looks Flavor Flav on me. I have been frustrated with the big watch trend for decades now. The only Swiss heritage brand that truly offers several modern tough waterproof options in 34-36mm is Rolex. Mind you, a lot of 36mm Tudors and Rolexes are over 44mm lug-to-lug! People don’t understand how limited the options are with tiny wrists if you don’t want to wear something delicate (vintage). Therefor *the fact that any Swiss watch brand with heritage issues a 35mm waterproof automatic watch, let alone below 2000/2500 EUR/USD, can not be overhyped enough* in my opinion. And I am a Nato guy-I don’t even like integrated bracelets! Still I cannot thank Tissot enough for these 35mm options and I hope they’ll set a new trend🙏
New Tudor Ranger in 35mm 🙏
Longines Zulu Time in 35mm 🙏
Any Sinn with UTC bezel in 35mm 🙏
Omega Speedmaster in 35mm 🙏
JLC’s with a lug-to-lug below 43mm 🙏

All power to you and your watch dreams good sir 😀😀😀
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch Thank you! 😘
... Certina?! Great video pal. Keep up the great work!
Thanks a ton!!! 😀😀
Recently got the gold quartz 40 mil, looks amazing.
good call 😃😃
Great video as always! Unfortunate that you found he Maurice Lacroix Aikon to be hideous T.T I actually love that piece!
May I suggest you do a video on integrated bracelets/Genta deign watches?
Cheers!
Thanks - Interesting idea. I have a long "ideas for videos" list and will add it as a possiblity 😊
Bought a blue dial PRX 40mm I love it!
Good choice! 😀😀
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch thanksss
I bought the PRX powermatic 80 in blue not long after release when it came into stock. I still have it in my collection. When I tried it on I was surprised how slender it was. The 40mm on my 18cm wrist fitted perfectly. The finishing is very good for this price point. The sunburst waffle dial looks great in good lighting. As for the movement it keeps time well within COSC.
My main complaint is the lume isn't very good. The watch can be read fairly easily in low light due the contrast between the hands and the dial. In the dark it it's unreadable after a couple of hours.
It works well with smart casual outfits and a suit which gives it some flexibility.
Excellent content, thanks. You've nailed it for me. I only want the auto for the fancy waffle dial and maybe to look through the back window. A quartz with waffle dial would be perfect for me if it were cheaper than the auto - accuracy and aesthetics!
Waiting to receive my glacier blue automatic PRX. That ice blue waffle dial was the main reason I went auto :)
40mm powermatic green dial is ❤
Green is gooooood..... 😃
The PRX was my first watch after falling into the "rabbit hole". I went to the dealership for the the blue PRX automatic on a bracelet and left with the blue quartz on blue leather strap. 1) I to this day just dont like shiny metal bracelets. All my watches are on nato, rubber or leather. 2) Up close I actually preferred the simplicity of the plain dial 3) I simply could not see the reason in paying over double the price for an automatic movement.
I am surprised in the "clarity" I had this early, as it has proven to be absolutely the right decision for me. I still think it looks cool every time I wear it and it has become my "dress watch". It wears very well with business casual and can also dress up a long pants and t-shirt kind of outfit.
By the way, if the Hamilton Murph had existed in a 40mm version that would probably have been my first watch. And by now you can probably pinpoint pretty much when I bought this watch and what youtube channels I was watching at the time. 😂
What are your thoughts on the new gradient dials, sir?
What about the plastic escapement inside? Also, I don't like the idea of replacing the whole movement if anything inside goes wrong. That is why I prefer the Seiko. However, I would like to try a Swiss auto around this price point that can be comparable to a Seiko or Tudor movement
Somethings has to give at this price. Is it ideal? No... But again - for the price. 😃😃
I own 3 Tissots, including a PRX and the 1853. So far I love the look and feel of all my Tissots. And much cheaper than a Rolex or an Omega.
What about the Seiko SUR555, which is a copy of the Tissot PRX?
What a video!
Excellent, nay the best analysis of all the main issues with the PRX. Well done, Sir.
Consider yourself subscribed to!
My analysis went roughly the same way...
I'd always been keen on the value proposition of Seiko's Cocktail Time watches vs Grand Seiko... Citizen's Tsuyosas vs Rolex OPs and finally Tissot's PRX vs CasiOaks.
My only gripe may be that in order to emphasise your main points, speak a little more slowly or use graphics.
Believe me, your analysis is the best out there and worthy of more emphasis and punctuation throughout.
Thank you.
Very very kind of you - thanks for the praise. It's appreciated.
I'll try to slow down 😀😀😀😉
8:09 isn't Nomos German? Or did I miss something?
Yup. Glasshutte Germany 😀
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch hehe. Because I think you said that Nomos is swiss, that's why my question 😁
@@XSXXL Lol... The swiss get all the credit don't they 🤦♂🤦♂
Nivada Grenchen 37mm automatic, integrated bracelet ! I own the tissot PRX powermatic in blue 40mm no regrets ❤
Good choice 👍😉
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch thanks!
Very well said “faintest of praise” value without intrigue equals less value.
I'm tempted by the 35mm auto with the mother of pearl waffle dial as a birthday present to myself. I like some of the designs Junghans offers but rarely see UA-cam videos on them.
Junghans barely ever shows up on YT. They are very niche - but check out TGV. I think he has reviewed a few 😀😀😀
I have a Concord Mariner with a black waffle dial. It's been around longer, and Concord has a history of pushing ETA to produce superior ultrathin quartz movements. But that was decades ago. Nowadays, most people will not have heard of the brand much less seen one in person. But this piece is definitely a step up from the PRX, being both waffled and quartz, and for that step up you're looking at double or triple the price. I got mine on discount.
I own the automatic. I wish I got the quartz. It's smaller and thinner. Even on my 7,5 inch wrist the automatic is not a daily driver for me. The bracelet is top. Accuracy is superb.
Appreciate your reply for the comments that are been posted ❤.. super cool content..do tis prx will add a style quotient ??..apart from the classic tag
Yes, is the short answer 😊😊
I would say the new competition for the PRX would be the Mido tv big date.
PRX is an amazing piece; I bought my blue waffle about a year ago. I like your take on the first mover aspect - never thought about it in these terms. Solid value proposition until you consider that it's kinda the only value proposition? Still, I enjoy it a lot and don't regret the money spent (slightly below retail).
A couple of points to add to your review:
- The bracelet is prettier than it might seem at the first glance. They've polished the sides of the links, and thus the bracelet has this ability to all of a sudden start shining on your hand when the polished sides catch light. On the other hand, the sizing was almost a miss for me - it sometimes feels a tad too tight, esp. it did during the last summer where I live. Oh and I haven't noticed the fingerprint-magnet aspects, but boy does it scratch.
- Lume really, really sucks. I wanted to buy the same watch for my younger brother; the bloody lume was what stopped me.
- Questionnable QC on quartz models. You see a lot of misaligned seconds hands around.
- The rotor did get quieter pretty quickly in my case.
Thanks for the detailed comments. Really adds to my own humble musings. Was not aware of the qc issues with the quartz models. That’s just troubling. 🤦♂️
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch it’s not a issue. Every single watch with this exact movement has the same “QC” issues. The second hand doesn’t fully align with the marks on the dial. But in the end, it’s a $350 watch. Not a $12,000 Rolex.
He said DEMURE a year before Demure Fall... truly a bellwether in the fashion industry
Rather a bellwether than a bellend 😂
I actually love what I can see through the case back. And I specifically bought it because of the movement and the looks.. couldn’t bear to spend that much money for a quartz watch.. it also wouldn’t give me a kick of renewable energy.
But why can’t it be serviced ?
How would you compare this with the older PRC 200 automatic design? I think PC 200 is more robust and a better looking in my opinion.
Full disclosure i can't afford luxury watches. But im a watch guy. Im blue collar, but i like dress watches asthetically. The thought of having a complicated mechanical movememt working in harmony while im walking around makes me giggle with joy. Im a walking talking contradiction. But my work requires a watch. A reliable watch. +-5, 10 seconds a day over the course of a week can get me into trouble at work. So when it came to buying a prx, you can guess what i went for. Automatic movememts, especially visible ones are for jewelery purposes. Its jewelery for men. Quartz, as dull as it is, is a tool more so then a tourbillon.
Hadn't really considered that angle of it. Excellent point.
If you're looking for something with a movement that has some history go for a Seiko. Something with a 6R35 movement in it.
They're typically a bit more expensive than the PRX, but the cool thing about the 6R35 is that the movement has basically been around since the 60s (or thereabouts) and to this day there are still components in the movement that are identical to the original movement. It's not the best movement in the world in terms of accuracy but it's just been a workhorse movement that's been around for ages and just keeps on getting used and improved up.
Just a thought 😊😊
I agree with you with your approach and observations.
Personally, I just love the PRX watch design including the waffle dial. I only buy watches that excite me visually and have at least a Sapphire crystal. So the fact the PRX is valuable too just makes it a no-brainer. Only downside is the weak lume but that isn't a deal breaker for me as a watch's crystal is.
That said, I own the Blue Moon Cocktail but with a leather band. It's my favorite watch but definitely not versatile. Even for some formal functions, its a little too blingy. But nonetheless, it's my favorite watch. And one of my most affordable watches too. Funny how that works. Nonetheless, it doesn't have sapphire but it's such a popular model that there's aftermarket sapphire specifically for it. So if I ever get a scratch on my baby, I'll be upgrading to sapphire.
can I ask for an opinion, I’m considering to purchase the prx or the seamaster 1000, if its you, which one you choose?
I'm guessing you mean the seastar 1000 from Tissot and not the Omega of a similar name.
Both the PRX and seastar come in a version with the same powermatic movement. Quality wise you are going to get very comparable watches and to me it's down to which one you think looks best. Personally I prefer the look of the PRX and if it's a dive watch you are looking for there are other options from other brands in that price range, I would consider first. But that's just me. They're both good watches in that range.
👍
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch yes, the one from tissot. Okay, I loved the prx ice blue dial but I had a bit doubt that would fit me. But the dive watch on that range, what would you recommend?
Good question. The seastar is a perfectly good choice.
A Citizen promaster ECO-drive is a watch I personally quite like. It's a little cheaper. Maybe not quite same build Q but good. Baltic has the aquascape that is worth considering.
For a bit more the Yema Superman is a really cool watch. I'm not familiar with the quality of their inhouse movement.
That's some options for you. Quality wise you'll be fine. Just pick the watch that speaks to you.
😀
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch okay, thanks man for the advice! Really appreciate it
I deliberately gifted my girlfriend a quarz cartier, an automatic would just be a problem for her. She’s got a point :-)
Can't go wrong with a Cartier for the missus ❤️
Great video great presentation! End of the day get the watch you like the aesthetics of and that you will wear!
Exactly. Buy what you like 😃😃😃
I was looking at Tissot PRX for my second watch for an everyday beater, but I am going Citizen Eco Drive
Hey! Great video. Is the movement as bad as they said? Is it true that is a disposable plastic movement?
I want to buy it and I really love the waffle design
There’s the Mido All Dial, which can be bought with a COSC certified movement. I think you can get one for around the price range of an automatic PRX. It’s an integrated steel bracelet sports watch, albeit quite different aesthetically. Some generations look better than others. The 2023 is meh for me. I like their older white dial version
I’ve never seen the mido in person. They don’t have them in any stores around here unfortunately. Will have to check it out when I’m travelling…
😀👍
It is worth the hype.
It is a good watch for the price. Absolutely. 😀
The quartz won't hit the seconds markers on any unit you try. It is horrendous.
I have never noticed that myself, but if it's the case, then it's a problem. I'll try and pay attention next time I go by the AD. 😃😃😃
At this price point completely unacceptable 😂
I have neither of them, but when i have seen them next to each other i much preferred the waffle dial, so much nicer imo. So would pay the extra.
Doesn’t really appeal all that much to me, and I thought that there was WAY too much hype around it when released. Some of the reviewers were surely making some money from how hard they were schilling it. Also agree with your take on Cartier buyers being not all that interested in the movements or other technical aspects. Cheers 🥂
It has gotten a LOT of attention for a watch in the price range.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated 👍🤜
I think the PRX (and the Gentleman) is the ultimate first automatic watch. You can gift it to a young high-school or college graduate.
True. It would be an excellent gift👍👍👍
Good competitor would also be the Christopher Ward The Twelve. Not that known and a more expensive, but great look
Agree completely. 😀
My favorite watch reviewer
yay! Thank you 😃😃😃❤️
By the way the Genta inspired design has been around for decades. I bought a Seiko watch which looks very similar to the PRX in the 1987 for $60. This style is nothing new...but many folks-especially young people whose memory is less than a decade old- act as if this is the latest revelation from on high.
The maen manhattan 37 is a strong competitor to this in my opinion. Although it of course has no quartz option
Haven't tried it myself but I've heard positive things about it... thanks for contributing 😀😀
Liked the way it looked online. I saw it in person, and it did nothing for me. I think the dial was too plain, and the proportions didn't look right.
That's the key - Try any watch in real life and see how it feels for you. The only way to know 😀
Tiffany blue quartz ftw
Good choice 👍
Some quartz watches sweep MORE smoothly than an automatic. Look up the Bulova Precisionist.
I find it hilarious you compare the quality against a Rolex. Why not compare to an actual superior piece rather than the watch only bought to show off because of the name?
Glad it put a smile on your face. Nice to know my videos are having a positive effect 👍😀
In terms of comparisons, Rolex works really well simply because it’s a known quantity by many people (being the swiss watch brand that makes up a third of all swiss watch revenue). Chances are more have handled a rolex and therefore intuitively grasp the differences I describe more than they would if I had compared to something more obscure or niche.
Thanks a ton for contributing and be sure to come back for more 👍👍😀😀
Today the Damian Lillard special edition prx is the crème de la crème 👌🏼
Christopher Ward should be considered. Swiss quality for a fantastic price. I do like this watch a lot though.
There are so many good integrated bracelet options now. The CW is a personal fave of mine. 😃😃
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch the 12 is very cool. CW is addictive. I have 3 and I always find myself lured back. The quality standards for the price are almost drug-like to a watch fan. Over the years they just keep refining and improving. They’re one of my favourite brands, at this point. Also with a 5 year warranty, you can’t complain. 4 years into its life my 7750 chrono is getting a free servicing as we speak. That’s unreal value.
My Vostok has an in house movement
Of course it is. There is no question.
Short and to the point 😀😀😀
I have a Chinese titanium quartz watch which beats 4 times a second for 65 Euros so no problem with alignment. And a Sapphire crystal. Maybe with a price of over $400 for a PRX with a quartz movement it is not such a great price after all. For even more money the automatic version uses plastic parts and is not easy to service.
Lived the '70's, wasn't much of a fan of the styles, even back then. As far as Tissot's, I'm a much bigger fan of the Gentleman.
He he.... No bell bottom trousers for you then, I suppose.... 😀
Before I watch it, I do think it’s overhyped. I made the mistake of buying it without seeing it in person. It looks tiny on my wrist and from all the videos I watched I thought it was going to be too big. Maybe I have bigger wrists than I thought ( never measured them)
Also I think the bracelet isn’t very high quality. I’ll keep it but I’m not blown away like I thought I would be.
I hesitated between Tissot and the Milano D1 but I ended up with the Tissot which is better built.
Good choice 😀
Really love the waffle dial, just dont know which model to commit to
Under $1k I'm eyeing Yema's Urban Traveller. A bit above Chris Ward's the Twelve. Under $10k, Cartier Santos.
Never seen the Yema in the metal but the Twelve is excellent. Santos - Magnificent 😀😀😀
Is that a stone island shirt
Nope. Belstaff. I dig their jumpers, jerseys and jackets. 😃
Hamilton has a bunch of watches on bracelets at a similar price point, field watches, pilots watches, divers. Sub-$1000 Swiss watches in general are getting hard to come by. Other than Tissot and Hamilton, what other major Swiss brands make them?
To me Tissot is just bland. The PRX is better than most, but still doesn't excite me. No doubt they are well built and good value, but I don't feel moved to buy, or even look very hard. In that price range, I have several Seiko Presages and a couple of Hamiltons, which are also quite decent, but also have that extra something that capture my interest.
Hamilton, Certina, Mido, Longines.... all Swatch Group.
Good choice on the presages. They are lovely watches 😀
Love mine
As you should. 😀
Such a disrespect towards Aikon which in live is by far the best watch with integrated braclet, machining, fit, finish, design, fine brushing and polishing, very good movement and insane AR coating really elevates the Aikon over Manny watches with double the price of CL.
Disliking something has zero bearing on whether or not something or someone is respected.
Also - build quality, finishing, detailing do not garuantee any objective level of aesthetic appreciation.
I respect ferrari for what they do. A ferrari is well made, of great quality, and yet there are still some ferraris that I would find unappealing and therefore dislike.
I respect Taylor Swift and her skills as a musician. I don’t like all of her songs.
The aikon. I dislike it. Make it by hand, in platinum, put a Lange & Sohne logo on it and I will still dislike it.
If you like it - good for you. Always buy what you like. I do. 😀😀👍
CW the twelve is competition imo
Agree. Check out my thought on the watch I did a couple of weeks back.
😊
The hype has died down and the PRX is still around. Integrated sport watches are en vogue again. There are some great ones out there like the CW Twelve.
I passionately adore the quartz Tissot PRX. So much so I’ve bought two-the white lume dial and the blue. The 40mm look and fit perfectly on my 7” wrist. And for $260 new, you can’t beat the value. I don’t care for the waffle dial and I don’t need more mediocre mechanical movements as I own high end, high finish ones already. (Don’t think my comment posted, apologies for the repeat).
have to take into account the accurist origin integrated bracelet which for a hundredish pounds will get you the waffle dial
Bought a blue dial PRX 35mm for about 350.00. A steal , it’s a gorgeous bracelet that tells the time.
It is a very nice watch 💪
Timex Giorgio Galli @ 38mm
Good call! 😀
Having seen the PRX up-close, it really doesn't interest me. I'm with you, I'd much rather spend the money on a Seiko with a nice dial.
My thinking as well! 👍 Thanks for sharing
Had to wait 9 weeks for the powermatic ice blue🧊! Tissot are obviously doing something right. Being the first mover is a risk, however the PRX is a success and Tissot are rewarded by the market. Bracelet looks good but is a bit rough on the edges. No real need for the see through case back. The dial is 👌🏻. Very pleasant over all experience.
It's a monster hit for them - no doubt. By definition, I suppose that makes it worth the hype
I actually want to see the lume dial in the metal. Heard it's qutie cool. 😀😀
If tissot offered a standard ETA movement and the PM80 I really don’t think many people would go for the “improved version”. The whole thing just feels like a cash grab and really turned me off from tissot as a whole
The PRX is overpriced for the specs. Folks are paying a premium for the Tissot name. The mechanical version uses plastic parts and is not easy to service. But go with the hype.
I owned an auto PRX for a few months last year. For me, it’s almost there. I did wind up selling it for 2 reasons.
First is lack of microadjustments. I tried multiple configurations with the links, but never could get an ideal fit. It was always too loose or too tight. I’m still considering picking up a 35mm version. The links on the 35 are smaller, so it should be easier to get a better fit.
The other negative is it wears too big. It’s not too big as in the diameter of the case is too wide. It’s too big as in it feels like you are wearing a cuff and not a watch.
It has a shape that makes for a very different wearing experience. Definitely go by a store and try the smaller version. Maybe it will work for you 👍😀
Bracelet is nice but I have enough watches with bracelets. I put on a PRX leather band.
Meanwhile. I bought a vintage RADO VOYAGER. ETA 2836-2. 4HZ FOR $100. 😂
😀
He is ignoring offerings from microbrands and Aliexpress which have lots of watches in this style for a fraction of the price.
Nomos is not swiss.
I have 2 Rolex watches and the Tissot movement is really better quality
Wow. that's quite the endorsement of Tissot... 😀😀😀
No love for the digital version 😂?
nope... 😂
*Tudor Royal enters the chat
Clones and homages destroyed it .
Shame the quality per $ ratio is pretty impressive.
never seen a prx for more than 700
In the tech specs box I note that it is USD 675,- in the US.
As I stated in the video, the USD pricing is not useful for everybody as the equivalent pricing in large parts of europe equates to just shy of USD 900.

Watch my code 11.59 AP video. I compare the AP to a Hamilton. I’ve also got a video where I compare a seadweller to a G-shock. There’s just so much to learn and be inspired by from doing unusual comparisons and approaching things unconventionally, I think.
👍💪
