#Satisfactory is an FPS open-world factory building sim by #CoffeeStain Studios. You play as an engineer on an alien planet as part of the ‘Save The Day’ program - a program whose goal is to construct a massive machine for a mysterious purpose. Conquer nature, build multi-story factories, and automate to satisfaction!
During the intro I couldn't help but marvel how much better the graphics for the central forest have gotten...
really sad they got rid of the pink tho :(
now it looks just like the northern forest!
it's an unreal engine 6 preview actually
Well i know what you said was a Joke
Right, it is so Unreal!!!!
The graphics are nice but the new character outfit has some room for improvement
May I suggest that the information about "pool of recipes expands with each new tier" (4:04) should be written somewhere in MAM, for the new and unaware players? Because that is something actually not obvious, and really important.
So far it's technically only very specific milestones that add more into the pool and not reaching specific tiers.
I played over 200h (all in a single map) and didnt know that - although i never noticed cos i didnt start collecting alts until Tier 4 to 6. But it is in fact a good information to have
Yeah, I had spent a couple hours looking for a specific alt recipe not realizing I couldn't unlock it yet. The one time I try to get ahead on alt recipes...
@@darxim7291 then there's me, knowing about this feature then still getting confused when i don't roll heavy encased frame
@@insentia8424 I always thought it was something like you can get alternate recipes to create things you've already unlocked, even if you don't have access to the machines or resources required for the alt recipe. I always seem to get refinery recipes for copper and iron ingots well before i unlock refineries, sometimes even before i get coal.
Im good with this change . But one thing I'd love to see is the ability to destroy/teardown/remove the crash site once you get the hard drive from it..
yep, disassemble like your own pod on start
This. It makes no sense that we can't disassemble wrecks.
Totally agree
Yep, game is trash until this is implemented. /s
A alien planet full of trash crash sites 🤣 Would be great to dismantle them. Like we can do in similar games of this genre.
0:01 1.0 graphics are amazing
Different game. The graphics and immersion are the only good part about it though. Well... The minigames are alright, but have no rewards.

Good spot, that's an awesome change!
@@MrSurabanegood spot? HE TALKED ABOUT IT IN THE VIDEO
@@ppeez I guess we watched different videos. The only time I saw him talk about automated miners he says, "Automated Miners? Lame." No where does he say Automated miners now stack. You have to spot that yourself by looking at the inventory yourself with you eyes which lead to my "good spot" comment because I didn't see that prior to reading this comment. I've since read this stacking had been seen in a prior video but I hadn't heard about it so it was still new to me.

@@ppeezhe literally didn’t. lol.
Snutt probably: "No that is in fact a bug, not a feature."
Snutt somewhere else: "But wouldn't it be cool if..."
To be fair, that's shockingly common in game development. A _ton_ of interesting game mechanics started out as bugs, either the devs or playtesters liked them enough to turn them into features. The "raining bombs" copter move in Half-Life 2 started that way, it was a glitch but the devs realized it was a cool idea so they limited it to a quantity that _wouldn't_ crash the game and made it a signature move of the boss fight.
The Spy in TF2 came about as a result of a bug. For some reason, one of the characters wound up copying the look of one of the opposing players. The devs liked it so much (it hadn't even reached playtesting yet) that they decided to make a new class out of the idea.
In Warcraft 2 building were built by one worker only. But during building the health bar ticked up from 0 to max hp, so you could order other workers to "repair" the building, speeding up the build at the cost of extra resources. That's why in SC Terrans can speed up building by using multiple SCVs.
Bullet jumping in Warframe is another good example

Speaking of hard drives and alt recipes, it's been suggested many times for years for item entries in the codex to show the recipes that they're used in. Despite the sheer practical QoL of this change, none of the posts have ever got past 100 votes. Please consider implementing it anyway.
Yes theres a reason people mod fnei or nei into every damn survivor crafting game
I would limit it to "every recipe that you currently know" with more showing up as you learn more. Other than that limitation, I'm good with this suggestion.
@@damianwright3690 Well yeah, I assumed that was obvious or at least implied by how item recipes in the codex already work

You guys put so much love into this game, and it shows in everything. This video could just as easily have been a short text post, but instead we get a funny intro and some actual explanations.
It sounds like the small bit of decision paralysis from having 3 options was replaced with a great deal more decision paralysis from being asked to decide on a gamble.
I agree, I don't think rerolling was quite the right decision here. Two rewards feels like a step in the right direction however. I'm sure they've considered it, but perhaps each HD also has "partial research data" that accumulates to allow you to pick from a list or tree.
I don't think I agree with you there. While I've personally never had decision paralysis in this game, even when I was starting out, I think having just two options on screen at a time will do a lot to reduce it.
If I was a new player in this situation, I'd much rather pick something from the two options initially provided for me instead of trying to gamble. I don't understand ANYTHING about this game yet, so why would I try and risk two other options that I probably wouldn't understand either? Granted this is just me and everyone's different.
Also, I think you're forgetting the Hard Drive Library. Remember, players don't have to make a decision on Hard Drives at all until they have a better understanding of the game. (I feel like this is what most new players will do) So I personally think this is a good move on the part of CSS.
If one is clicking Reroll, wasn't one not already dissatisfied with their Choices and already mentally set to not miss them...?
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning I can easily see the scenario where the first 2 options are decent but you have this list of must have recipes that you are really aiming for so you click reroll. But then... of course... the game trolls you with the absolute worst recipes to choose from this time. Giving you some intense gamblers remorse for not at least getting 1 of the decent previous options. Then next drive comes around... to reroll or not? How much time do you spend on this decision now?
@@Zhab80 On one hand, I agree with your logic completely, but on the other hand, I think you're missing the second feature they adjusted, which is having the ability to unlock multiple HDDs without needing to pick, so it incentivizes routine HDD hunts from the start; wait on the re-rolls until you have a small queue of recipes built up.
0:30 How many times did you shoot this scene? And how many branches were stepped on?

Thank you for actually caring about your game and not making it ridiculous. I can't believe how good this game is. I've played almost 300 hours, I never play any game that much lmao. So good. Usually these kinds of games become too difficult for me (factorio) after a certain time because of resource management. But I've managed to do quite a bit so far, and after 300 hours, I don't feel discouraged yet. I am a bit daunted for the stage items I'm at, but it's fun to figure out and not frustrating. Thank you for making it easy to build big.

☝Classic gambling mistake. You quit just before you hit the jackpot.
Great change! However one final thing I'd love to see is, instead of the wrecked ships having items scattered around them to pick up, you instead have dismantle the wreck (only allowed once the hard drive is looted of course), and then you get all the items.
This would allow you clean up wrecks and tidy things up!
That would be great! I usually build something big next to the wreck, just to know that I have already picked that one. If we could make them disappear, it would be great!
That's a huge change to suggest and they're releasing next month. I hope they just go 1.0 soon and we can get all the QoL changes we want through mods
@@thefrub not that huge really. the wrecks are already seperate models anyways, you just slap them into the deconstruction and done
I hope you will add option to salvage/dismantle the wreck after you extract the hard drive. I don't know how many times i ended rechecking out already cleared wrecks. It happen so many times that i wish that i can just delete them so they don't confuse me all the time with the thought
My brain: "hey...did you check this wreck?"
Me: Yes.. i think so.
My brain: "well, go check again".
And than i hate myself.
Yeah it's pretty annoying. I got into the habit of building a foundation block on top of any crash sites I'd already salvaged
once the map is available, you can put a sticker on the crash site and write that the crash site is empty
I usually build a foundation and a high wall, then color it specifically for "cleared wreck" so I can tell from a distance if it's worth checking out.
I find that being able to check on the hand scanner if the wreck is clear or not is good enough for me (if you have hard drive scanning unlocked cleared wrecks won't register on it).
Whenever I salvage a hard drive I build a column next to the wreck, just a few segments is plenty to act as a marker.
The closing statements from the branch manager were really insightful, thanks snutt, helps a lot!
0:30 Now instead of one stick you have TWO stick. Stick win every time.

That new MAM model looks sick
Epic presentation. Great change to the MAM. I like the teaser!!!!
Making this video was his vacation lol
He must have shot the intro while on vacation :D
This is ALMOST what I want.
But it doesn't have a memory in the way I am thinking of, and that's not such a good thing.
Allow me to explain:
Right now each hard drive lets you reroll once. What if you could spend FICSIT coupons from the AWESOME sink to "earn" another reroll chance?
That's not the only improvement I can think of tho.
As you're selecting alt recipes, a "backlog" of alt recipes that you have seen but NOT selected builds up.
Now I know that leaves THREE unselected recipes on the table per scanned hard drive if there was a reroll, but I am limiting it to ONE unselected recipe per hard drive, because if you reroll the hard drive, it's as if you "always scanned it the first time that way", so that would keep it consistent with the "you can't see the things you rerolled away from" decision.
That one unselected recipe per hard drive should be added to a list that you can still access, provided that you have un-scanned hard drives.
My thinking is that you would be able to guarantee that a selected "previously not picked" alt recipe is one GUARANTEED choice (out of two) on a hard drive scanned with a more lengthy scanning process. Say the "normal" scanning takes 5m, the "optimized" scanning would take 10m, since you know what you want but the hard drive might not have all the info needed on it, so the MAM will have to "fill in the gaps" (it's a miracle machine as far as how it works to do large computing tasks despite being constructed of such simple materials, so that's probably not too much of a reach, or maybe this would be done back at the larger computer built into the HUB (the one you can play the package packing game on)).
Point is, if I've "seen" an alt recipe before but opted to not pick it, I want to be able to say "I know about that recipe now, I took notes, I have now started to optimize my factory in anticipation of having that seen alt recipe, and now I want to guarantee the ability to unlock it with the SINGLE next unscanned hard drive I scan".
Coffe Stain Studios just knows how to develop games.
They listen to the community, they even mention existing bugs and they just do so many things FOR the player so we have a good game.
A prime example of a great gaming studio.
Other studios like EA, Dice, Respawn and others are just that stupid greedy i cannot stand it anymore.
Coffeestain offers great and additional content!
Other companies add skins which you have to buy for 20+ Euros/Dollars.
Cheers to that! Cannot wait for 1.0
Hello Games also had some redemption after the rocky start of No Man's Sky. They are still providing massive updates to a now 8 year old game for free.
The openness and communication with the community however seems to be a stand-alone feature of Coffee Stain Studios.
Not only do they listen and entertain with the updates, but they also know when to go against the community by not adding features that go against the games vision. But then they clearly communicate that! It's a masterwork company.
@@zeero4ever I agree with you. No Man's Sky still has a massive Glow Up! Good game
@@marcbennett9232 Exactly. Communication is key!
I think Wube is the prime example for gaming studios. They actually play their own game deep into it's own limits and do QOL features before the community perceives them as needed. Satisfactory still has some important requests from the community that are not fulfilled.
Huge reason why I love this studio is because of how upfront they are
Rare in this day and age
They also make games that are fun and not a chore

Cast screws are the big one for me, all the other recipes are somewhere between useless and moderately useful. I've gone on extended expeditions collecting hard drives solely to finally get one that has cast screws as an option.

"We don't want you to have to worry about decision Parylasis, so we're making you choose between the first 2 picks, or irreversably reroll your picks that you have no idea what you're going to get! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
So instead of trying to decide between 3 choices, you'll become paralyzed by the most important question with irreversible damning affects! To Re-roll, or Not to Re-roll?
Decision paralysis is struggling with picking between any known available choices, struggling with the urge to reroll even if one of the choices are good enough to make you hesitate is honestly more of a case of gambler addiction, lol. Just do yourself a solid and pick the choice that made you hesitate.
@@ShadowTani You're telling that to the wrong person. If I ever suffered from "decision paralysis" I would have never mailed Snoot about it, as it would be a "me problem."

Welcome back! I don't think most players had an issue with this as it was, but it's nice to see you are trying to remove possible frustrations before launch.
A thing you might not have thought of is players can reload saves. So players can have all 4 choices by save-scumming.
If a player realizes this, they have an incentive to re-roll every hard drive, memories/write down the outcomes and then reload the save to make more informed decisions.
And if the seed created when picking up a hard drive doesn't also affect what will be re-rolled, players will be able to get whatever they want by saving just before a hard drive is researched.
I don't hate that at all. It actually increases your chances of getting what you need out of the gate. Thanks for many years of enjoyment I have been getting from Satisfactory, I look forward to you guys going gold!

The filming has to be the funniest thing ever, can we get a behind the scenes? :D
Snutt playing hella stressed, dog just having the best time.
what's funny is this was probably a typical day of him walking his dog.......
Hear me out: When you research a hard drive, you should find the "topic of data" that was stored on this hard drive (for example: reseaches on copper-based elements, character upgrade researches, power-related researches,...) when the hard drive is researched, you get access to a selection of recipes/rewards related to this topic and you can pick one among them. This would preserve the randomness of the research (topic) but would allow the player to have a bigger range of choice on the reward he gets when the research is done.
On the RP side of things, this makes sense that a hard drive has data stored on a specific topic and that the retrieval process destroys the drive hence the fact that you can just get one chunk of data from it.
My issue with hard drives, is that not so much that it was random, but the 3 choices usually were crap. It's one thing to get alternatives for other things you don't need at the moment, it's another to get alternatives that are crap; because they aren't efficient or even useful. Such as biofuel coal or other stuff you will likely never use as an alternative. Give us better choices, then the randomness wouldn't be so bad; but I do like the new UI and being able to research hard drives parallel to other research. Being able to reroll is also a plus.
I feel like no one really understands how huge this is. All you have to do in 1.0 now is collect half of all harddrives without picking any and given that you have all Tiers unlocked, you can now literally cherrypick any alt recipe that exists. You might want to pick a couple of strong early/mid game reciped so thats where the reroll comes in later.😊
@@ppeezor, hear me out..... Instead of wasting all that time, you just use a game editor to unlock all the recipes to begin with. There's literally no point to wasting so much time unlocking the crash sites when that could be time spent actually building. At the end of the day, no one is going to have more respect for the guy who got all the hard drives manually over the one who just unlocks them using an editor. It's a poorly thought out gameplay mechanic that is just a waste of time
@@maethore.8843 have fun, with 4 friends we will have 50 harddrives in like 2 hours. You can keep taking shortcuts but you wont be happier for it

Decision paralysis...
So instead of three options I can see and evaluate...
I get three options one of which is a gamble that will remove two options and present 2 new unseen options.
I don't know how that helps personally.
Here's hoping this eventually gets another look :S
I personally think alt recipes should be unlocked with new tiers in the space elevator while various equipment recipes like the jetpack should be unlocked by very specific hard drives spread across the map.
This would really encourage players to explore the map earlier to discover resource locations, plan and develop factories in other areas, and participate in other activities like slug hunting for a good change of pace.
On top of that, they'll expand their map, and open new avenues for multiplayer experience.
This change is actually really good! Thank you!!
Yall are the best dev team I have ever seen your love for the gane thw antics we see makes me proud to be in this community
4:23 Will the "pure" alts still show up before refineries are unlocked?
2:44 What is Classified Phenomena?
If the goal was to reduce "decision paralysis" then I don't think this is the way to go. Now there's a much harder decision to freeze up on, if I end up with two recipes that aren't great but not terrible, do I risk a reroll and lose them in the hope of getting something better or pick a sub-optimal recipe?
YES. Oh my god this is so needed. I fully admit to save scumming for HDDs, and I swear I've spent a whole day of my life restarting the research from various runs.
I will still probably do this, but it will be 33% chance better... now if only I actually had ANY luck.
it'll actually be slightly more than 33% better if you save up hard drives; from what I understand, if you reroll each drive as you get it, but don't pick one, then every drive removes 4 options from the pool. So you get one more option *and* 4 less in the pool per drive, which depending on how many are in the pool, could be great
I for one am going to ensure biocoal and the other biomass one stay in that MAM forever, I can potentially delete both of them with one drive....
@@aurias42 its only going to be 2 per drive. remember that if you didn't choose the 2 offered and you rerolled. those 2 will go back into the pool. Its only if you decide to not reroll that the 2 available will be removed from the pool. The current harddrive will still not show the previous rolled in the next one but a new one will have a chance to do it.
@@aurias42 Or you may get them out of the way early and forget they were a problem in the first place.
@@aurias42 I think it only removes 2 options from the pool per drive because you're only guaranteed not to see options already presented for that drive, not all drives.
I think you misunderstood. When you rerolled, you will not get either of the two original recipes from that hard-drive, but you can still get them on your next hard-drive. They're only excluded from each separate drive, not from the entire pool. @@aurias42
One thing that seems like a potential issue is that trying to force specific recipes could lead to some weird behavior, like refusing to progress until you get cast screws or sitting on unlocks to narrow the pool when you could be meaningfully using them even if they aren't what you prefer. I feel like it might be better if there was a way to prioritize or deprioritize the recipe you don't pick (so if you get 2 you want you can force the second pick to come back, and if you get 1-2 you don't want you can keep the second from coming back until only deprioritized recipes remain)
Would be nice some hints about an alternate recipe. Like It will draw more power, use more space but has better yield per this ressource.
I think you can see the original recipe side by side, so you can compare and contrast materials and speed.
@@gorth1314 I mean when I have to choose an alternate recipe, I open a spreadsheet and calculate the ratios of raw materials to the final product and put a score based on a weighing of the number of nodes wich themselves must be weighted by purity.
But yeah the base recipe comparison is nice.
Seems like a good idea for a QoL mod. Figuring out tradeoffs is something that takes a little while to do unless you already know what you're looking for, (in which case it's instant) so speeding that up is in no way a bad thing. Some "QoL" mods for stuff are too strong or outright broken (like the Just Fly mod, which some would consider QoL) but this wouldn't be one of them.
Given that you already decided to add turbofuel directly into the mam research tree (requiring a hard drive), you might as well have done that with all the alt recipes. No more decision paralysis.
5:08 Can anyone tell what that blurry thing is moving around in the background?
From what I can see I would say it's just a spitter

One thing I cheated on was just unlocking all the recipes..was too annoying hunting for that alt recipe.
That's a fantastic change, just as a baseline it's great. But I also think the re-roll with an extra gamble mechanic is great by itself and the way you're balancing it with 2 or 4 instead of 3 is also really well thought out. Great job guys.
It feels like you explained how the current system is frustrating for both new and veteran players, then explained a really minor change
Me personally I don’t like this change because of how you still need a lot of hard drives, just 25% less(I think).
wow new graphics shown in the intro are so realistic, i wonder if my pc could run that
I was scared you were going to get rid of the randomness completely. I like the randomness.
I absolutely hate it. I mean, why? After you played the game for 1000 hours, you don't need the randomness. And as a beginner, you want to see which recipes are currently available, to get an overview and choose wisely.
@@jjs9473 As a beginner, the choice paralysis would be *killer.*
@@maxastro For me the actual overview was important. How could you choose from Alts as long as you don't know if there is a better one? I felt choice paralysis just by presenting only a few random recipes, instead of all recipes (fitting your researched milestones) at once.
@@jjs9473 If you have played 1000 hours and research many times everything, you can just unlock everything in the game adv. option. at the begining of your save,
@@jjs9473 if you hate randomness, you just unlock all alts with AGS and be done with it
yall are cookin frfr lmao on a real note this is actually awesome and love the work yall are doing
3:23 just got insulted
Right?!?!?
That's better. And I presume that all four possible recipes are not chosen as soon as I start the research, so I can save-scum the reroll much more conveniently than save scumming the original selection of three.
Because, that's what I was doing. Saving the game, then sitting there for 10 minutes, not doing anything, and then doing it again, and again.... until I got at least one recipe I was interested in.
Also, might I suggest the ability to use the color customizer gun on the crash site? That way you can mark crash sites you've already grabbed the hard-drive from. Or mark crash sites with a color suggesting what you need to open them (though right now, I use a map marker with a text description for this).
Each drive should give you an amount of "Research Points" based on the difficulty to open. Then each Alt recipe should have a value based on the level of machine/resource required. The system would be similar to the shop. Drives would be the items you sync and "Research points" would be your tickets.
The hard drive system was there to encourage exploration. Getting bad rolls means you have to explore even more. There are mods and even ingame advanced options to enable specific research if you dont want to explore.
@@Euphorazine23 you can just save scum the hard drives, what i did 90% of the time. so no explores needed for bad rolls.
Most people do not use the current system nor will they use the new one. I would bet 99% of players do not use alt recipes till very end game.
It’s been a while since I’ve jumped into the game. I normally concentrate on getting all the drives in the early/middle game, so it will be interesting to see how you lock people out once they’ve gotten all the alt recipes unlocked for their current recipes.
And here I almost hoped that Snutt and Pooch were being chased by an Alpha Hog . . .
The discussed changes sound good.
Hope you had a nice vacation.
Sounds like a nifty change! Honestly, I've never gotten along well with RNGeezus, so any method that helps game the system in my favor is a win.
Honestly, though, when I restart my game for 1.0, the part I'm *least* looking forwards to is unlocking all the alt-recipes again. =_= Soooo many hard-drives to track down...
I'd rather they had an alt-recipe menu that i could use hard drives to purchase, want cast screws, two hard drives, want iron wire one hard drive.
Never clicked faster!
Hope you all had a great vacation. Looking forward to see your new community manager, Doggo Mcstick Muncher
I've always been confused, amused, and intrigued by the Automated Miner recipe.
imagine how great it is to have 20 inventory slots used up by automated miners that you so conveniently didnt have to manually make.
Whils the alternative is to have in the inventory the needed resources and spend 5s making as many as you need. But who would think of that am i right?
You can see at around 2:36 that Portable Miners now stack, which makes Automated Miner actually somewhat appealing, just route any excess motors and steel pipes you may be producing by a manufacturer first instead of only sinking them. Sure, that requires making more motors than you use, and you'll be spending more power and laying more belts down... and you can already do so now... but, hey, at least in 1.0 you'll have a large stockpile of the things rather than like, 40. Y'know, for when you wanna blot out the sun with drones, as one does.
Maybe they'll go the evil route and make portable miners a necessary component for Tier 9 stuff. That'd be funny.
@@Darkest_Hour For what reason? The components making up an Automated Miner sink for way more points than the entire miner. You're literally just squandering resources and power.
@@Stoney3K Nah, don’t sink the miners, use smart splitters to sink the components once the manufacturer fills up.
I love this so much! Thank you for redoing the hard drive functionality
Sorry man, I went hard drive hunting once, been there done that, not doing it again. I'm just gona cheat in the recipes that I need and be done.
The only change I’m interested in is making enemies into more than an annoyance during exploration. Fixed respawn points is just silly.
Enemies are so annoying and meaningless that I made them attack back only when I attack them via settings
The hard drives make absolutely no sense.
"oh look, here are x number of files on this drive but i can only read the drive for one file after i read the whole drive to see what's on there.
Better choose wisely!"
That last part about the chances not drawing from ones already in the library is such a great feature. If I understand it correctly you can effectively lock off 2 recipes per each hard drive you have from the pool. This means if you ever get a dreaded charcoal and biocoal hard drive (if those remain in the game at 1.0) you could just leave it in the library and never roll it afterwards. A much more effective and engaging system.
If you can reroll a choice of 2 harddrives, effectively giving players 4 choices, wont it be better just to make harddrives show 4 choices without a reroll? what if the reroll gives options worse than the first?
I love you guys, love the game, love your communication. Best studio ever!
3:43 biocoal? Made from the biomass? Sure I like it
We already have this...
@@merlinyoder8262 oh yeah I frogot 🤦♂️mb
I love how this Studio is so open about developing the game.
Like Yo, write a book for the other companies to learn from
Cast screws my butt. Whatever makes getting my stitched iron plates easier is good news. F*** screws with T1 belts.
I know this is a community channel for satisfactory. (big fan) but the skit you made is so simple and goes with the game! reminds me of the skits from viva la dirt league, if you were to do these skits semi regular it would be amazing! looking forward to 1.0!
Honestly the plan is still the same, get all the recipes, which one comes first third or last is completely irrelevant.
Might be interesting to have a MAM research tree dedicated to Hard Drive optimization. Unlocking options that might allow for weighted odds in favor of specific parts (for players that are experiencing a massive overstock because of shifting resource demands), Phases, or Production Type (smelting, Manufacturer, Assembler, etc). Maybe even require a resource payment per "Drive Buff" to keep the resource economy interesting.
They should just get rid of the RNG and make alt recipes unlockable in MAM, but they will never do that because of pride. You're better off installing a mod for that or just unlock everything at the start
This isn't the fix to hard drives. When you're looking for one specific recipe and you need it now and there's a pool of 50, this is miserable. I was just rerolling with escape and paying the time penalty.
You guys are awesome. This info is sooo helpful
