This is a 70's classic by a great sounding band. Lead vocals, the harmonizing and the instruments combine for an experience in what music and song writing is all about. If you get a chance YOU'RE THE ONLY WOMAN and BIGGEST PART OF ME deserve a listen to. I agree on listening to the group FIREFALL.
He still plays live and we saw him some time back at the smallest venue. His voice in his 70s is still as pure and powerful as it was when this song was recorded.
the BEST ambrosia song! i never tire of hearing it and the lyrics get me every time 💔 it's simply written but deeply complicated at the same time and that's part of it's beauty. the emotional vocal and gorgeous melody, structure, and arrangement make this one of my absolute favs! i will always stop to listen if and when it pops up on the radio ❤
Great great song. But some of their earlier prog stuff is a bit better. "Holding On To Yesterday", "Time Waits For No One" and just for fun The Jabberwock" ( produced by Alan Parsons I believe).
Yes, that last bit always throws everyone for a loop. Still beautiful song. Dauid Pack is the lead singer of Ambrosia whose voice is amazing. He has a song with Michael McDonald and the late, great James Ingram call I Just Can't Let Go. Quincy Jones called them the "other" holy trinity because of the angelic voices. Definitely worth a listen. Otherwise, Ambrosia has other great songs. Their song "You're The Only Woman" is the song I am guessing Dauid wrote to his wife after That's How Much I Feel (ha, ha). It is a great song too! Biggest Part Of Me is a good one too.
Yes ! Ambrosia, "nectar or food of the Gods.". The David's vocals, the harmonies, the R&B influenced soft rock is definitely an eargasm. Their music was all over the radio stations in the 70s and their songs even today are popular, timeless classics.👍👍
I think the song is about two people who are extremely passionate about one another but not good for one another so they need to part as friends but he always remembers and grieves that they couldn't work it out. That's what I think anyway. Kind of like "the one that got away"
No it's not a make up song. This is a you broke up with me and I let you go because of how much I love and want you to be happy but DAMN I want you back and I need you to know but I'm moving on without you. There's a part in the song that he says that you realize that you're both better off as friends. You can love someone one so badly but realize that you CAN'T be together anymore and you're not going to lie about it.
"Then you both realize, just how foolish you've been, oooooh . . . " the melody here is by far one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. I listen to this song, to this very day. It's on my GOOD MUSIC play list! 👌
I have always loved their sound and feel of their music ever since they came out. If you listen to their top hits it sounds as though he is hung up on this woman. Its almost like these songs are a continued thought of this woman. Your the only woman, Biggest part of me, Holdin on to yesterday, and I just cant let go.. If you listen to them one right after the other in this order you get the feeling this guy is really got it bad for this woman. I love them so much. Their sound brings calm to my soul.

Fam, please Do Biggest Part of me next, Soul Vocals gonna get you on that track!!....BJ, gonna give that "ooooo" look when he squints his eyes and turn his head! 😃
The first line of the lyrics sets the stage: "I don't know how this whole business started of you thinking that I had been untrue. But if you think that we'd be better parted, it's gonna hurt me but I'll break away from you. Well, just give me the sign and I will be gone. That's how much I feel for your baby..."
Great reaction but I do wish you'd reacted to the live version from the Midnight Special in 1978. It's INCREDIBLE! All the guys were so "70s cute" & they were as great live as they were in the studio! One of my MANY favorite groups of that time! Young people don't know what they missed so I'm glad reactors are introducing them to real music & real talent instead of technically produced junk! 😊
Hi Asia & BJ, Ambrosia is absolutely music 🎼🎵🎶to my ears 👂!!! Their sound is smoother than "the other side of the pillow!!!" I'm not sure if you've reacted to this other song by them titled: "Biggest Part Of Me" so if you haven't please consider doing so because I truly believe you will love it too!!!
Another excellent reaction!!! Thanks for getting to Ambrosia. A lot of Soul in em. You should hit "Biggest Part of Me." It's REALLY good. Looking forward to your next reaction!!!
7th grade school dance. Slow dancing with my gf Barbara. At 58, I'm surprised I remembered that. Amazing what memories can be tied to a song. And a cute, blue eyed, red head(1 of only 2, that I ever dated, lol) helps. Great reaction you two.
The ending always bothered me, I just wondered what he would feel if his wife said that to her ex. David Pack wrote this song but he didn't think it was good enough for their album and it was their biggest hit. I'm with you girl, I had this 8 track tape yeah I'm old, my teen years were the 70's loved it.
If you love this one, you'll lose your mind over Ambrosia's, "Biggest Part of Me"! Biggest Part of Me, is a bop & a vibe. Biggest Part of Me, did all the things, and did them all epically well. It's legendary. It's a perfect song. Please check out, Biggest Part of Me! Thanks. Take care. Love from the Pacific Northwest🌲🦌♥️
He says in regards to his wife" sometimes when we make love I still see your face". That's the twist to the story. David Pack recently lost his wife to breast cancer.
There was a whole sweet spot for bands/songs like this in the mid to late 70’s. As you get into these bands, pay attention to the backing vocals. You’ll hear a LOT of Michael McDonald.
❤❤❤ I have heard, and loved, this song hundreds of times over several decades. I am so happy to see how much you are liking this beautiful song. Many thanks for the review. 🎉
70's band formed in Los Angles and most of us young wanna be music artist (yes I was one lol) would sit and learn their stuff. Great band, good songs and of course good memories. Thanks for the post and reaction guys. As always stay safe and much love.
I have met my grandfather on my dad's side exactly once while he had Alzheimer's. He was a singer, my dad's a singer, so am I, and we all three have loved this band. My dad told me something grandpa said: that line about still seeing her face just "killed him". Wish we'd all there been able to play together before he passed. Thanks for putting this out there, folks✌️
This is, was, and always will be my favorite song.. I think this is the classic first love song. And you never forget your first love. No matter who you end up with. Your first true love is always in your heart..
i'm more a rock/metal dude, but this song has been one of my all time favorites since back when it came out. it's just a perfect song. and i'll admit it, it will almost give me the sniffles sometimes.
I’m telling you all! Music had pasión and soul! Something you don’t find now a day’s! Music then was just so good! All genres of music, not just one! Soft rock, pop rock, yacht rock, all types! Now you really get how great music and musicians were back then!🙏👌😎👍
Yes, Ambrosia, Great Harmonys, Orchestration and Studio ProductIon. David Pack on Guitar / Lead Vocals, Burleigh Drummond / Drums / Vocals, Christopher North / Keyboards, Joe Puerta / Bass Guitar & Vocals, David Cutler Lewis / Rhodes, Piano,& Moog Synth, Royce jones / Vocals & Percussion. Ambrosia was initially a Progressive Rock Band that weren't afraid to Experiment in Search of their own Sound. Great Vocal Harmonys. You have to Love those Major7th Chords. I agree with Al, "You're the only Woman & The Biggest part of Me," deserve a listen. Thanks Asia and BJ.
Fantastic song. Interesting thing Is these guys are pretty much known fir a few blue-eyed souls tunes like this one, but they started as a progressive rock group. Some really good (and somewhat strange) albums. Thing is, they can PLAY....and SING....and write. Underrated band...
Love your graphics, old school cassette tape? And it helps to display the lyrics, although those of us that know this song from our youth, know the words already. Thank you for a great reaction.
Asia, you were so right about what you said about him in this song. What would his wife think? As you had said, I agree. Thanks for sharing. It is a deep and beautiful song. God bless you!
Sometimes in some peoples life there is just that one person that for whatever the reason may be, you can't be together. And there are reasons, and very good ones. You have to move on. But the heart always remembers.... Great nostalgic song for me 💗
Just The Heaviness of His Delivery On The Blistering Nightmare of Never Letting Go... The Jigsaw Marriage Was Only A Very Lengthy One Night Stand.. With His Constant Mental Gymnastics Rattling-
Ambrosia had 40 hit singles from 1975 to 1980. Great Sound, harmonies, and smooth. I new you would like them when I requested this one. Love you guys ❤️
This song is about a woman that's accusing her boyfriend about cheating, they break up, she was his true love. He never forgets her. Thanks for all the beautiful songs, sure brings up a lot of memories.
This song is much the Jermaine Jackson song DO WHAT YOU DO that you reviewed. Leaving behind someone you love is often harder than it sounds. And working through those memories and feelings can be devastating to those who truly give themselves over to someone. Sadness is the art that of expression that leaves its mark on people who truly feel and have a harder time letting go. Because the letting go takes a part of you with it. And leaves you alone. We write about, talk about it, drink and drug about it, scream and shout about it, but until you comes to terms about it, miserable is what you will be. But it often makes for the best poetry, love songs, dramatic stories, art and triumph when something can be salvaged from the ashes. But that takes time, growth and finally letting go to leave behind feelings that no longer serve you. Ambrosia scores these points with, YOU'RE THE ONLY WOMAN, BIGGEST PART OF ME, and a great live version of HOLDING ON TO YESTERDAY. You might also give Randy Van Warmer sing his heart out on JUST WHEN I NEEDED YOU MOST. Or Michael Johnson nursing his broken heart on BLUER THAN BLUE. Enjoy.
This song was deciated to me by someone special years ago. You don't hear songs like this now. We all can wish this style comes back and older R & B. Thanks.
This is one of Ambrosia's biggest hits. The song is about still being hung up on a woman long after they broke up. Near the end of the song, the singer mentions that he's married and "we're still going strong," but "sometimes when we make love, I can still see your face." This marriage doesn't sound like a healthy one.
I always felt that he was saying he's moved on, fell in love, made a new life with his wife. But the love that he felt for the other lady never really died, so that sometimes she still invades his thoughts.
Sure its healthy......not like he's cheating...just something that jumped into his head!!! I know I have no control of what my mind throws at me. A great memory!!!😉😉🤘🤘🎶🎼🎵🥁🎧🎷🎤🎸🎹
My impression of this song has always been that she thought he had cheated on her, and he's making his feelings known that he feels and senses what's impending. The lyrics "take hold of my hand, and all will be forgiven" to me is him saying that it's alright that she thought that, and if she chooses (take hold of my hand) they can move forward. I also think he knows that it's futile. So, he tells her that he loves her that much that he'll let go if that's what she wants. The last verse where he says (he's musing I think) "Sometimes when we make love, I can still see your face. Just trying to recall when we were as one" says to me that while he has moved on and is happy, he still grieves what once was. Just my 2 cents. As a side note. I was around when that song came out. 19 years old, actually. That'll give you some perspective of hol old I AM! Lol! I love what you guys do and how you do it! ❤
He's not trying to break his way off. The song is is like the old saying,,,, "if you love me then you will set me free". He is saying that his love is so strong that he is willing to set her free.
I grew up, listening to ambrosia back in the day. We had a genre of music called yacht rock. And being from Miami yacht rock was a big deal not to say we were all hanging out on the yacht because trust me we were not! Anyway, ambrosia was a big deal back in the day and I love this band
I love this song, reminds me those time back in Havana trying to get the Key west radio station through FM and suddenly we didn't have no signal no more, then it came back and so on, cause in Cuba it was hard to get all USA music
It's not a makeup song. She thinks he's cheating and doesn't want him because of it. He doesn't know where she got that idea because he wasn't. He never really got over her, but he had to move on, no choice, and he marries someone else down the road who loves him, and trusts him. But he still thinks of her. She scwewed up. He really loved her back then.
I remember this song as a teenager. Lots of songs can you make you feel a certain way going forward as a teenager. I think they could do these beautiful songs again…but I am not optimistic. It depends on the current generation of listeners. However, we have the past. Blessings.
The way I interpret the lyrics is that she thinks he's been untrue, and so she wants to break up. He says it's not true; he loves her, and he doesn't want to split up. But if she insists, he will go without a lot of drama, because he loves her and doesn't want to cause her uneccesay pain by drawing out the breakup process. Then, years later, he confesses that he still thinks about her even though he is happily married.
Oh yeah! Jammin' to some more Yacht Rock. This song reminds me of my childhood because it was one of my mom's favorite songs. She would always play this song before taking me to school. I never knew why she liked this song. Now I know.
He gave up his greatest love so that she could be happy. He loved her so much, he could not get her out of his mind.

Biggest Part Of Me by Ambrosia is another, super soulful classic.
Yes, that last bit always throws everyone for a loop. Still beautiful song. Dauid Pack is the lead singer of Ambrosia whose voice is amazing. This song is much the Jermaine Jackson song DO WHAT YOU DO that you reviewed. Leaving behind someone you love is often harder than it sounds. Gorgeous song..total classic

Always loved this song. Thanks for the reaction. You guys do it like no other couple.
Yea that was my MY FIRST HEARTACHE. 😥💞💞
70's pop music otherwise known as AM gold.
This song is a time machine for me. Every time I hear it I go back in time to an amazing time in my life. Even now I'm back there again.
I love it! You guys had a great reaction to this classic song! Love you guys
He's not trying to break his way off.
The song is is like the old saying,,,, "if you love me then you will set me free".
He is saying that his love is so strong that he is willing to set her free.
Nothing like easy listening 70s songs - great for those cuddly times with your girl, in the car at the local "inspiration point"
Ambrosia is such a great band
He really loved her back then.
they were super good!
As a very young second wife, that last part was a gut punch for me.
I remember this song as a teenager.
Lots of songs can you make you feel a certain way going forward as a teenager.
I think they could do these beautiful songs again…but I am not optimistic.
It depends on the current generation of listeners.
However, we have the past.
Blessings.
That's what you call blue-eyed soul!!!😊❤
Great 70's track. Ambrosia is very underrated.
Asia & BJ - Loved y’all’s reaction to this song from my childhood!!!
♥️♥️♥️
I'm taken back to slow dancing to this, under that mirror ball. ❤️❤️❤️✌️
This song reminds me of listening to the radio in the car while driving to work or the store to buy groceries haha.
Oh yeah! Jammin' to some more Yacht Rock. This song reminds me of my childhood because it was one of my mom's favorite songs. She would always play this song before taking me to school. I never knew why she liked this song. Now I know.
70s ... BLUE - EYED SOUL ........ STILL HAVE THE ALBUM 👍👍👍❤❤❤
The love you can never shake off.
