✨️One of my favorite song verses ever✨️ "I feel wonderful because I see the love light in your eyes - And the wonder of it all is that you just don't realize - How much I love you" Thank you, Eric ❤️
So deeply sorry kiddo. I lost my husband in May and my 32 yr old daughter to cancer in August. First dance with my husband was to this song. I keep playing this one and Reba McEntire's IF I HAD ONLY KNOWN. My grief feels like someone gut punched me and then threw a blanket of cement over me.😢
This is a perfect "Home after a night out" song. Eric Wrote this for his future wife Patti Boyd. Patti has the Distinction of having TWO Rock legends write love songs about her! There was THIS Song, but the First was Written by her First Husband, George Harrison (When he was a Beatle). The Song he Wrote was "Something"... a MUST LISTEN! Eric and George were best friends and remained best friends until George Passed away in 2001 (RIP).
In 1999 Clapton admitted he forced himself on Patti in their marriage. Basically admitting to raping his own wife. Kinda spoils this song a bit for me.
Eric Clapton, what a genius he is with lyrics as well as on the guitar. He is classed as one of the best of all time, another you should get back to is Gary Moore. His Parisienne walkways will blow you away. Thank you for reacting to one of my favourites 😍
Wife here...One of Clapton's best imo..."God Bless the designated driver"..Perfectly stated BJ!!...BJ..You're killing me with this imagery...This was Awesome you guys!!
This song is very special to me, aside from it making me think of my beautiful, and unexplainably missed late wife of 33yrs...Laurie, (not that I don't think about her daily anyway) but reminds me of a particular night, where...after several hours of this group of friends and us celebrating, the guys and girls split up for a cpl hrs as the ladies went to do some clothes shopping, and the guys went to the home of one of the guys who was a corvette dealer, where his personal cars were in a pole barn. At the time, I myself was driving my mind 71 olds 442. We were there for a cpl hrs, and did a 'few' shots of very expensive brandy! It was only 2 miles away from where the ladies were. As I was driving back to pick Laurie up, I realized how intoxicated I was. When I pulled up, she was waiting. Normally, I would either get out and open the passenger door for her to get in, or...if she was waiting on the drivers side, get out, let her in that side, and then get in after her. This time, as I pulled up and she's waiting on the drivers side, I open the door and slide over! She looks at me, quizickly...as I say, I'm drunk! You're driving! She knows, NOBODY drives my 442. Gets in as she is reminding me of that, and that she's never driven it! Lovingly cussing me under her breath! Nervous, that she's going to do something wrong! I say just drive this mofo baby! As she chirps the tires taking off, and looking at me like, damn! when she feels the power for the first time! And now I'm good, I'm just chillin for the ride, and I can mess with the stereo now that I'm not driving! Then, I remember the 3 Havana cigars I have in the glovebox! Pull one out and before she even knows what I'm doing, light it up! She looks at me, and says...hell no, I can't smoke in here you can't either! And snatches the cigar and throws it out the window before I could even say that it was a $50 cigar! But that is a very special memory cuz it was one of the times she knew how much I trusted her. I hope you guys enjoyed that story. Love you guys!
Love this song. Clapton's nickname is "Slow Hand". This song used to be played A LOT at weddings as the first song that the bride and groom danced too.
For my DADDY!!!❤️ I love and miss you every day!!! and yes.. I remember you playing this.. singing this!! 🎸🎶🎸 One of my favourite songs ever.. LOVE IT!!!❤️❤️
This was my Senior Prom theme in May of 1992.... I took a gorgeous blonde lady friend of mine to the dance... She died just this past March at 47 yrs old.... This song is one I always dedicate to Crystal Marie Siro.... I miss you terribly... We had an amazing night together that will last for eternity..... RIP Crystal...😪😪😪❤❤❤
I have had those nights where my lady just looks and acts amazing, sometimes i just smile all night, and it could be anywhere, at home or out at dinner or something and she is just wonderful.
Per Songmeanings Pattie Boyd, a former fashion model and photographer wrote a book that describes the situation behind this song: "One night, unusually, me and Eric were going out, and I couldn't decide what to wear. I was taking a very long time to do my makeup and hair, putting on one dress, then another and another, throwing them all into a pile on the floor. Poor Eric had been ready for hours and was waiting patiently. He was so sweet- at least, in the early days. The worst he would say if I annoyed him was 'you're a silly clown.'" Then it goes on to say-- "Suddenly, as I was flinging dresses on and off, inspiration struck. When I finally got downstairs and asked the inevitable question, "Do I look alright?" he played what he'd written: It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear. She puts on her makeup and brushes her long blonde hair. And then she asks me, "Do I look alright?" And I say "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."
Notably she was Eric’s wife, and before that, she was his best friend George Harrison’s wife. She has probably had more big songs written about her than any other woman. Layla, Bellbottom Blues, Wonderful Tonight by Clapton, and Something (prob others) by Harrison.
Ahhh... summer nights by a fire and my Lady, this is living. EC, thank you, 28 years with my Queen of everything, and still going. 🙏🏼 My health is on the decline, that's life. Indebted to my Almighty, and my Angel, my Wife, for the Love. Thank you, for sharing and appreciating this great song. 🙏🏼
There's a longer 8 minute version on one of his albums, and it's even better! This is the version that plays on the radio however, and it's pretty solid too.
Eric was the reason I picked up a guitar, Check out Bell Bottom Blues. That is the song that made me want to play guitar. E.C. is the best musician ever. I learned how to play this song for a girl I was crazy about back in High School.
This was our wedding song 30 years ago. My husband didn’t want anything to do with any of the planning at all. Except this. He had this song picked out from our first date .
As a country girl, I never heard this song. That is until my husband's band started playing it, only bummer is, he's the drummer so I never get to dance with him. Lol 💜
A MUST HEAR Beautiful Classic,, I Dedicate This Suggestion To Muriel,, The Most Beautiful Person I Have Ever Known,, Malo "Suavecito" ...R.I.P. Mom..Love & Miss You.🙏❤
BJ you are the king of smooth, I bet you get that feeling every time you step out of the house with Asia. Asia you are a beautiful girl with the world's best laugh. Thanks for the great review as always.
You have to be in love to feel this song. I never had long blonde hair but I did have the man I am with 30 years tell me many times this song reminds him of me. I love that compliment
This song and “Layla,” also by Clapton; and “Something” and “If I needed Someone” by the Beatles, all written about the same woman, Pattie Boyd, who was first married to George Harrison and later to his good friend Eric Clapton. Pattie was a top model in the 60’s and met George Harrison during the filming of “A Hard Day’s Night,” a terrific, hilarious movie about …and starring…the Beatles.
This is one of the loveliest love songs ever and when I started to teach myself to play the guitar this was one of the first songs I learned to play and sing to my wife
Leave it to Eric to make a great song telling a simple story but shining that spotlight on his lady. This always brings fond and sad memories as this was one of my late Uncle Rick's favorite songs.
Strange Brew is on the opposite spectrum of Wonderful Tonight ! When he was ‘Cream’ he is such a versatile guitarist ! Try and find it in color ! Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce with Eric was a trip !
have y'all reacted to Clapton's song tears in heaven .. it's about his son who died at age 4 I think. his son fell several stories out of window while Eric was on his way up to see him he fell out window
This song was written about Patti Boyd(Sister of Jenny Boyd, who was married to Mick Fleetwood, from Fleetwood Mac) Patti was the only woman to have 3 songs written about her that all reached No 1...This one, and " Layla" also by Eric Clapton and " Something" by The Beatles, written by George Harrison when he was married to Patti before she married Eric Clapton.
This song reminds me of an old boyfriend who was always complimenting on the way I looked and he always laughed at my sarcastic humor and he was such a gentleman
Such a great song! And I loved Asia’s eyes as she looked at BJ when the designated driver part came up. Seemed like there was something behind that lol. Perhaps she’s had to be the designated driver a time or two? 🤣
Great song, telling his woman she everything a man could ever want, illustrates how beautiful, and caring and nurturing she is one short slow dance of a song.
I'm mostly a country fan or oldies fan, and this is my number one favorite song of all time. Just a simple song about true, mature love. Eric is known for his guitar work. I went to one of his concerts & he never sang a note. I was sad not to hear this one though, dammit. LOL
Love Triangle Alert! EC wrote this song about his then wife, Patty Boyd. A few years earlier he had written 'Layla' about her, which was the song that basically helped him steal her away from her then-husband (and EC's good friend) George Harrison! And a few years before THAT, Harrison had written The Beatles massive hit 'Something' (which Frank Sinatra called the most beautiful love song ever written) about her! Three huge hit songs, all written about one girl, who two legendary musicians both fell in love with, wrote hit songs about, and were married to!!! Can't make this stuff up. And btw, in the early 70s, can you IMAGINE (no pun intended) stealing the wife of a BEATLE?!?!?!? Great reaction as always :)
Written by Eric for Pattie Boyd. He wrote Layla for her while she was still married to Beatle George Harrison. Harrison wrote Something, and a few others, for her. Between George and Eric there are ten songs about/inspired by Pattie Boyd. She was quite the muse❤️
Shame Clapton raped her while they were married because he considered a wife to be not much more than a man's property. He admits he forced himself on her in 1999 interview
This Lady gave the inspiration for three world hits . It was George Harrisons wife Pattie Boyd , who inspired him to "Something" , when Clapton desperatly fell in love with her , he wrote "Layla" and years later , when he finaly had married her "Wonderful Tonight" .
Y’all have to check out Old Love, The Unplugged version. Chuck Levell from The Stones and ALLMAN Brothers plays the piano on it and it’s straight fire 🔥
I was visiting a small island in the Caribbean about 10 years ago, sitting in a small local bar where you could pull up in your dingy and get a drink. Next thing I know this beautiful blonde walks in with this older guy in tow. They pull up a seat at the bar next to me and we start talking. After about 10 minutes I extend my hand and introduce myself, when the man says I'm Eric a light bulb exploded in my head, it was Eric Clapton. We sat and talked for a couple of hours over drinks and munchies. I found out he owned a house on this small island and the next day we all went out snorkeling. I'll never forget those 2 days.
This song reminds me of my folks. My dad used to play this on the guitar for my mom all the time. This song always brings a tear to my eye.
Your Dad sounds Awesome
Perfect for couples. That’s so sweet! I love this song.

One of the most sincere love songs ever written.
Our wedding song 1991. Still married. Love the song and love my wife. Thank you God!
We got married in 1991 and this still is our song, too!!!!♥
This is a perfect "Home after a night out" song.

Most amazing thing is how few lines of lyrics there are, and still it articulates a superb, touching story
I have had those nights where my lady just looks and acts amazing, sometimes i just smile all night, and it could be anywhere, at home or out at dinner or something and she is just wonderful.

My two favorite songs from Clapton happen to be slow songs:
This one, and "Tears In Heaven." Both songs are rough for me, but I LOVE both songs.

And a wonderful song ,,, totally brilliant! But we expect that from Clapton - and he always comes through.
I can relate to him when they entered the room and all eyes were on his beautiful lady. That's a proud feeling for a man.
