Limp Bizkit ft. John Rzeznik "Wish You Were Here" Stay up to date with Limp Bizkit releases, news & more: / limpbizkit / freddurst / wesborland limpbizkit.com/
This is from a concert in New York City just a few weeks after 9/11/2001. Smoke from the ruins was still drifting across lower Manhattan. Many great artists took part, but Limp Biskit singing this song was the heart-wrenching moment..."wish you were here"....for all the friends, neighbors, family members we lost that day.
I was a high school senior that year, watching this and it hitting like bricks out of nowhere - all the lyrics seemed to so eerily address every aspect of what had happened and then the emotion of “wish you were here”- on the day I am writing this is the first time I have watched it since despite recalling it often. It’s just how I remember. Feels like we are back full circle to ... well... I will leave my thoughts at that- all the souls we lost these last 20 years...
Thank you for uploading this! I saw this live on TV after 9/11 and losing my brother, and it was so surreal to see my two favorite lead singers come together to sing my favorite song.
I lost my uncle on this date he was in the south tower with rescue 4 from Queens..i remember watching this song on tv and have had it in my library ever since! My heart goes out to EVERYONE that lost someone in this tragedy...NEVER FORGET!!!!
Fred is such a talented vocalist. Actually each member of LB is beyond talented. It pisses me off that people sit around all day on their computers, eating potato chips, hating on these guys. Fred rarely ever misses a note live, every show. & his voice still sounds amazing after all these years and they still put out dope music that stays true to their sound..honestly, what more can a fan ask for. These guys are perfect musicians.
i feel you brother. no one can argues bizkit talent. from fred's scream and rapping. Wes, Sam, Otto and lethal on their respective instrument. May be people just cant accept how they fuse metal and hip hop that really turned out well. what if they choose to be a heavy metal band would people still hate them? i bet not
They're so gifted as musicians they could probably play any genre and pull it off. But for as much talent and the fact that they have yet to put out a disappointing album people just hate way too much for no reason.
LeadTheParadeMusic i think its more bcoz of their genre (nu metal/rapcore) is taking over during the late 90's. people more from the 80s fans of thrash metal really hated and cant accept it. i had to admit LB got some non sense lyrics or fred's generic rap but talent wise no one can argue they can give energy and groove.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from hell Blues skies from pain Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail A smile from a veil Do you think you can tell? So, do you think we can change? Everybody that hates Before it's too late So proud to be free But who can we blame Don't be ashamed Do you think we can change How I wish How I wish you were here We're one lost soul swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found The same old fears Wish you were here We don't need Need anymore pain We just need to remain on the very same page So much to gain No more losing a friend We're losing ourselves We just need your help So glad you're here So glad you're here
This is why Fred Durst is so massively underrated. All of Limp Bizkit is underrated. But Fred gets so much hate, even though he has one of the most unique, authentic styles.
It’s cuz of Eminem’s reference in one of his songs, is my guess. Tbh I didn’t know who Fred Durst was at the time I heard him mentioned. So if that’s your first recollection hearing someone’s name, it clouds your opinion.
It was beautifully sad. Still hits home til this day. It was for the 9/11 telethon benefit that was live on TV a few days after the attacks. People need to listen to the way they changed the lyrics. They really resonate far beyond 9/11.
Epic performers in LB. Most hated on guy I never understood why. I was/am a fan.. saw only once in 04 they opened for Korn and most peeps left after LB cuz they blew the house down. Dudes were throwing their girlfriends up on stage and Fred was catching them and he never lost a step in his performance.

Limp bizkit and Fred Durst especially have that special thing that he is not the best singer at all but when he makes covers he brings up a whole different song (wish you were here, behind blue eyes, home sweet home/bittersweet symphony). It is quite regular to see a guy copy a song in a purist way, but bringing something of your own is not the same. Beautiful version.

Exactly a year earlier, Limp Bizkit stood on the roof of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, for the shooting of their video "Rollin" - sure lots of emotions that play there, which can be seen very well in the faces of Fred Durst and Wes Borland.
Much respect for these two! The nailed those lyrics! It was a sad time in history, no other could have done the tribute to 9eleven as solid as that performance!!
If I recall correctly, this particular video first aired on tv nationwide as part of a tv special just after the 9/11 tragedy in New York City. This song was always great, and these guys were always great, but this song + these guys = AWESOME, especially given the timing of it when so many folks had lost their lives. When they sing "we just need your help" and Johnny looks down but Fred looks straight at the camera, they managed to capture the tragic need of the moment's victims better than anyone else did. And when they sang "so glad you're here" and Fred looks over at Johnny, it was just a really special moment that made me cry. Love love love this. I've been a Goo Goo Dolls fan and a Limp Bizkit fan for a long time. Thanks guys, for helping us all through such a horrible time in the lives of all Americans.

21 years later I still got a bit choked up and a few tears came out.
And I'm still angry as hell about what happened.
We all change, it's life, but to tackle such an amazing classic damn near raw amd makin' it soumd so great is am honor
🙏✨🤍
I hope nobody forget but everybody forgives. You do know this song with Johnny and Fred the song is dedication to the victims and families of 9/11. But the song is also dedicated to right now all the people who are affected and who have actually passed away from the covid-19 virus. We live in a shameful world today we all need to change!

My bones are getting older … Yet the spirit still the same… Stuck in moments.
Best cover on Pink Floyd. Listen every time when i'am sad
Avenged Sevenfold has a great cover too
That's why I'm listening right now... That day was just so messed up, screwed up, and f'ed up. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. They did a great job with this song.
@@andyg111985 If you want to share, you can with me
This was recorded right after 9/11 ....... such a sad time in the world
The original was recorded in 1975 by Pink Floyd. But this is a great cover to the song.
Joshua Thomas It’s what I was thinking but you know all young people thinks that bands now are ones that wrote the 60”to now songs and bands that take pieces of few songs adds on their music they thing they wrote did that I’ve had tell many I know No that was sung by someone else . People needs really look up their history on everything
Yup 9/11 was sad... knowing people with box knives took over a plane they never flew before, take complete control and flew hundreds of miles to a target 🤷♂️
But i did love 9/12 where Americans flew their flags high... all colors of skin joined forces and came together... what we need to do now in 2020... take over the government that is making us live like the germans
Like this time to.
Just like these times as well. Innocent ppl are falling like dominos and we have no clue what to do about it. Stay safe bro
Awesome !!!! 2019.
Came back in 2023 to see this again.
