Hi John! I like your solution of using a bolt to grind down new brake adjusters. I had the same problem when I was refreshing the brakes on my Midget a few years back--even with the pyramid wedge all the way in, my rods were a little too short. My solution wasn't as elegant as yours, though--I just jammed a couple washers between the rods and the wedge!

John, Why don't you run a drill through your hub instead of turning down the studs? Make the hub holes slightly larger and press in the studs. I ordered a new '66 MGB in Saigon, picked it up in SoCal (Compton). The ebrake never worked. Could straddle the hump and pull up on the handle with both hands, get out and push the car. Friend bought a new '67 B and had the same problem - only difference was his rolled down the steep hill on which it was parked and into a house 150' away. I'm gong to check out your rear brake clip.

I had the opposite problem...........with the adjuster turned all the way in, I could barely get the drum on and it had quite a drag when turning by hand. I removed the shoes and trimmed the cylinder contact surface JUST A LITTLE BIT on with a bench grinder..........keeping the profile as close as I could. The drum now slides on and the with 3 clicks, the adjuster locks the wheel. Backed it off one click as per factory shop manual. A dab of white grease and done!

John, could you comment on if it's Okay to split the front brake calipers in the process of rebuilding them?

John, I have the exact same issue with my rear brakes and the drums are within tolerance. I have been running around in circles trying to fix this issue thinking I assembled something incorrectly. Looks like I'll be making some bespoke adjusters now.

07:10 I recently replaced the brake shoes on my 1964 roadster with wire wheels. I did not notice any seal. Is that because I left the wheel hub on, or is the banjo axle different in design?

The best thing about this video is the video quality and the contrast between parts. It is easy to see how everything is supposed to be installed. The pic in pic closeups were also a nice touch. Out of curiosity did you keep the old lathe from the shop? It must be 70 years old or a bit.

Had exact same prob with those tappets being too short. Ended up using original adjusters to solve it. Aftermarket quality🤔

So can i convert my disc wheel car to wires using the same rear end? Won't it be too wide?

Why are the wire wheels narrower or are they wider hence the need for spacers in disc rims

John, in your famous video from 2007 about mounting brake shoes you specifically mention that the tag from the goes on the underside of the hand brake lever (see time stamped here: ua-cam.com/video/vomcvvpv-2Q/v-deo.html ). In this video you mention that it goes on top (see at 4:35). Are there various versions of this spring in use, or is this a case of progressive insight?
