But yall only care when they make the market red hot. I feel bad for those who had to part with their collection for financial reasons but I don't feel sorry for the new collectors who weren't around for stores like powergamer. I got my 64 from them for 20 bucks because they never moved.... the fact dk is selling it for what they are is more of a knock on yall then them.

I honestly never expected to go this far with dkoldies videos, I thought I would make 1 and be done with it. The first console I bought from them and did a video on, back in December, was a CIB PS3 slim that was “refurbished.” The console was in good condition, but I paid double market price and it was in no way refurbished (it was dusty and still had the original warranty seal). So I was like hmm, I wonder if I just got unlucky this time or if they’re just not actually refurbishing consoles? Long story short, after 4 consoles from them (5 after the video I post in a few days 😂) they are absolutely not refurbishing any consoles that go through that shop. Makes it even worse that they refuse to acknowledge anything publicly and will block anyone who says anything negative about them.
But anyways, nice video! I get mad all over again every time I see someone talk about the nasty console they sent me 😂

Exactly. I find it hilarious that dkoldies started doing those videos of them sorting out customers problems almost immediately after Rich's video and Jacob's videos. To quote Bernie from The Incredibles,

Yeah! They always try to help their case with those videos but end up making it worse.
I bought a “refurbished” original Xbox and when I received it I immediately opened it up to make sure the clock capacitor had been changed, they claim that they replace them, it was an original capacitor and it was leaking! Not to mention the interior was full of dust and hair. I called them out on it by emailing pictures of the board and all of it’s filth and leaking capacitor. They offered to either replace it or give me a refund when I send it back. I just ended up getting a refund because I didn’t want another pile of filth. Never again will I purchase from them.
That's fucked I could remove and clean that in seconds if they can't do that they just need to stop their service

The fact they not only heavily overcharged it, but didn't even fix the biggest failure point of the system.
The biggest failure of the Xbox 360 was the red ring of death. DKOldies needs to fix that before they sell that too.

One of their most recent shorts on YT floored me... they do their mail time bit and one of the mails is a "fan" talking about an order they received, where they praise the "fair prices", the good quality and how nice DKOldies is. Totally legit 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I can buy a Nintendo Wii where I live for around £25 from a local pawn shop.
This same pawn shop are pretty much giving away 360s just now as they have too much stock and can’t get rid of them.
Last time I was in there, they had 360s with 2 controllers and your choice of any game they have, for £45.
Also seen NES systems in that same pawn shop for £70 with 2 controllers and 2 games………That same NES bundle from DK would be around £250.

I think they need to be sued. This has to be against the law somewhere. False advertising at the very least. This company needs a wake up call somehow either by a massive lawsuit or just an outright massive boycott. Sad thing is the average consumer to their site probably doesn't even know what is going on such as overpriced and now this.
It is deceptive marketing is illegal and they have done so many other things that are illegal to.
When I first watched DKOldies's videos, I actually like it. Was planning to buy something from them but once you start researching even a few minutes, you actually can find stuff about people receiving damaged or not working products. Let alone when these UA-camrs are making videos DKOldies and their horrendously treated consoles.
At some point, it just becomes ridiculous. Don't buy from them. I've been scammed once on eBay before and I would still buy from eBay again because it at least is still better then DKOldies.

I can forgive legitimate mistakes or oversights, especially if the seller is just one person. But when you see dkoldies is a team of people, wherein the console (supposedly) passes through multiple hands before it’s even put on the website, the question of how its consistently missed in the first place arises. It’s not just one person not doing their job, it’s multiple employees in agreement or just complicit in not following decent practices. It could be the fault of understaffing (too many responsibilities given to individuals, though I doubt this is the problem), who knows

Not even surprised anymore. I just bought one for $160, backwards compatible and everything with an oem remote. I work with electronics so cleaning it myself isn’t very hard. The craziest part is that people will still try and defend them after watching this.

I am happy bigger channels are starting to cover DkOldies, before people started exposing that they don't even refurbish things I was like, even though they are overpriced, at least they are making everything good as new, that was until people actually opened up their systems and exposed them.
They have a UA-cam short series where customers send them “mail”. They recently made a short about a customer who sent them a letter telling them how great DK oldies is as a company (which was sooooo fake). Haven’t checked but they might have taken it down.
I went into a retro game store the other day and asked how much an N64 cost, he told me it came with 2 original controllers and starfox 64, not only that i asked if he could open it up so i could see the inside, and let me tell you that was the most pristine looking retro console ive seen in a long time, especially for being almost 30 years old it was damn impressive, he told for all this it would be 120$, while dk dookie sells it for 200 not including the og controllers, and with videos like this coming out god only knows the conditions they are in, its sad how greed has truly corrupted the market, do not buy from these people, there are other ways to buy them…..
It's not sad it's rage inducing!! It's already bad enough that Nintendo is milking nostalgia for profit with their Nintendo switch online service, which is outdated by the way, simply because Nintendo can't get with the times. And now we got to deal with this nonsense!! I hate it when companies like Dkoldies use our nostalgia and fun memories to make a quick buck. This is exactly why I got a Samsung Chromebook 4 to play NES, SNES, Gba, Gbc, Nintendo DS, Sega Genesis and psp games.

So glad people are finally exposing these guys. I remember calling them out when they first started doing their shorts. All anyone ever said was "so what, Ebay is risky and you get scammed usually". Only ever had 1 issue on ebay in like 10 years of buying, 99% of the time its fine and even if its not fine you can refund it. DKOldies listing consoles for upwards of 5x over market price in some cases because they "clean" it, is just ridiculous. And half the time they don't even clean it it seems.
Your 100 percent correct, we keep retro alive, these people are gonna kill it. Overcharging us for these consoles thank goodness I already have what I need and have all the consoles already, but these retro stores kill is on the prices of the games as well. It’s wrong.

If dkoldies had love for these games, trust me these games would be pristine and you wouldn’t get charged a kidney for a ps3. The UA-cam shorts/TikTok’s are a cover up! That’s just tip of the iceberg. Think about all the orders that don’t get recorded and that’s not been cared for or looked at. Please don’t get fooled by the 1 year warranty. Use eBay, mercari etc. or even a retro gaming store in your area
One thing I've seen people say is, "They have the best return policy in the business, you're getting a 1 year warranty." That's BS, too. Lol. eBay has 1 or 2 year Protection Plans offered for almost all gaming and electronics. Lol.
Right now 1st result on eBay is a CECHA01 PS3 with an OEM controller for $350.
The 1 year Allstate Protection Plan is $35. In my experience with those plans, they have you send the item to their liquidation center if you use it and get your money back as a gift card for the merchant, but in some cases depending on the dollar amount they might not even ask for the item back (I've replaced 2 steelseries senseis on Amazon, first one I was instructed to dispose of myself, second one I had to send back, granted this was Asurion, not Allstate).
Home Depot, Lowe's, all the big box retailers use Allstate. It's super simple.
So under $400 for a what looks like truly refurbished PS3 backcompat.
There's a CECHA01 with 11 games for $450 with a $45 protection plan. To be fair, not sure how Allstate enforces protection plans for bundles.
tl;dr - eBay offers protection plans for sellers and it's still cheaper than DK Oldies.

You are absolutely right, for that amount of money this is absolutely disgusting. The fact that when i bought myself a PS3 2 years ago was in a much better shape for 17500 HUF/48,38 USAD. But to buy for a premium of 400, you get this... this is unekceptable.
This one is the backwards compatible but still overpriced. You can find one for around 250$ in better shape.

Every console should come with it's original controller. They are literally thieves. Imagine buying a brand new console from Target and it comes with a third-party controller. How do these thieves sleep at night
If they're selling used ps3s for the prices of PS5s then those ps3s should be cleaned and have an official controller
Bottom line is this. If they sell it for 400 and it is actually refurbished and cleaned then fine. The consumer chose to purchase at that cost. When it comes not as described...not cool.

Haven’t bought or sold to DK but I was considering selling my game collection a few months back, they were offering good prices on some games they listed. But looking into it further, there were disclaimers saying if the games even had a slightly damaged label or anything, they reserved the right to give no offer AND not ship the game back. Definitely seemed SUS so I didn’t do it.

This man is right. We are keeping this alive, they are just capitalizing off of the retro community. My local retro gaming store I go to would never smack people over the head with these ridiculous prices. DKoldies knows what they’re doing as a company and it is just sickening to see how far it’s gone. Lying about refurbished consoles, over priced games/consoles, defected products. It’s sad is what it is.

Basically DK Oldies gets systems, tests, if they're good they throw them on the pile. The main nefarious thing is that they say "refurbished/cleaned" as an outright lie. They also show a picture of an OEM controller when they can't get many of those and just pack in aftermarket.
If they were simply 100% transparent and honest, then it wouldn't even be a big deal, even with the higher prices.

Refurbished is when they remove stickers from the console and charge you $200 more than it's actually worth on ebay.
They should be more clear about this and let people decide what they spend their hard earned money on.

As for someone who refurbished (dusts out, repaste, replace fans if need be) this saddens me.
I've never seen someone get a console this dirty from a store, let alone one that claims everything is cleaned and refurbished, hell I've never seen one from someone on ebay this disgusting.
Given how poorly these consoles are taken care of. Hard to say they are keeping old games alive, when the hardware is so poorly taken care of. Even if that a rare case, the sky high pricing seems like it makes playing on old hardware only for these who have loads of spare cash to spend. I would say emulation is doing more to keep the past alive, than dkoldies. For emulators are easy enough to find for old consoles like this, often free as well. Letting you play your old games on them, sometimes at better performance than the original hardware. With the downsides of course being, not every game might work on the emulator you find or run badly. Which is a issue that long as the emulator is worked on, should be slowly taken care of over time.
The prices alone piss me off multiple times the value with third party controllers etc. For some of these prices i can get cib versions of these consoles

It’s common knowledge to buy any console from anywhere and have the official controllers and necessary cables at no extra cost
I think it’s kind of funny the people saying its ok they overcharge because they are a “small business just trying to pay the bills” I have a local family owned business near where I live that specializes in selling used music, movies, games, and game consoles. All their games and game consoles are priced right around or even below the average market value. They may not be thoroughly cleaned but they are given a basic wipe down and tested. Though to make up for not being cleaned internally they give you a free 3 month warranty upon purchase of any used game console. Which I feel is very fair. Oh and I almost forgot to mention they pretty much always throw in a first party controller with your purchase. I’ve bought a few game consoles from them and every time they were in more then acceptable condition cosmetically and all came with first party controllers.
400$ for a console that can be found on Facebook for less than 100$ if you just put in some effort

The 3rd party controller doesn't work for PS3 games either! Think of all the people that brought a PS3 that wasn't backwards compatible (which is almost every PS3 ever made), from DK oldies. They can't play it all. Unless they wanted an overpowered PS1, which they did not.

I saw a video calling out DKOldies. It was from another game store called “Double Jump Video Games”. They were doing the game of “find the bootleg” and the guy looked at the one behind the camera and said “we don’t sell bootlegs” boom mic drop moment. The video short was called “DKOldies ain’t got nothing on us” cracked me up. Seems like two friends maybe 3 (unless she’s a wife or gf or something) just running a video game store together.
These guys are just so shady that it's infuriating, the videos they put up are rehearsed and you can tell they are reading a script or cue cards and this really hurts the retro game market as a whole. What needs to happen is that we need to flood agencies with complaints to get their merchant account shutdown to get it to where an investigation is launched.
