DK oldies has always had me raising an eyebrow. I recently bought a refurbished Wii for $75 from Walmart and a ps2 for $150/200. A reasonable price, since it came with all the cords and original controllers. Both products were damn near pristine as well. Unlike these snake oil salesmen. Sheesh lol. I'm glad they're getting called out. I'm all about supporting local and small businesses but they really price gouge their products.

I appreciate that this channel is mature and intelligent enough not to be screaming scam every other word. It is a rip off, but not a scam. Plus no, generally speaking it is not illegal in most states to overcharge for something. There are a couple of states which do have laws, but we are talking like they would probably have to be charging 1k or more over the value for it to even have a chance of standing up in court.

Rich unfortunately got a few things wrong, such as saying the screws on the bottom of the NES were not the original ones (front loading NES consoles did have Phillips screws in the bottom by default). But it's inexcusable that such an expensive console would have a chip out of the front. Plus it's clear that they don't refurbish everything as they say they do. Great video!

I don't think the original Nintendo had regular screws instead it had security bit screws. Would they change the screws yes they would because they would take the original screws off the system to put it on a nicer COSMETIC SYSTEM to sell for more money.

I was thinking about ordering an N64 or GameCube from DK but I couldn’t bring myself to pay what they wanted for them! Absolutely insane. Goodwill’s website has become almost the same, prices used to be low but now that more people have found out about it the prices in their auctions have skyrocketed! I wouldn’t be surprised if DKoldies gets a lot of their consoles and games from there. I just can’t believe how much people run the price up on stuff, like N64’s for 200-300 bucks. Retro consoles should NOT be more than like $100-$150 tops. Ridiculous.

Doesn't give them the right to take advantage of others but still happens because many won't listen to reason or fact. Same goes on today as well with gamers defending broken and unfinished games yet they still support these corrupt gaming companies that keep doing it year after year!

    Thermal paste $10.70
    Power IC $11.99
    Hot air station used $47.61
    Solder wick $4.99
    7” digital microscope $109.99
    Capton tape $4.99
$190.27 with out tax and shipping
That’s just what it would cost me to repair my original Nintendo Switch. And I know how to do the work. Imagine someone buying a used system paying for everything to repair it and breaking it then the cost would go up even more.
Chill the F out people and just don’t buy a system from them. 🤦‍♀️

So the one things that most people don't realize is DK oldies started off as an eBay seller which they still are but if they don't have a specific item in stock and you order it they will go on eBay purchase the system or item that the person has ordered and has it where the shipment label is to that person how do I know this I have a buddy of mine along with me who is a reseller and has had this happen multiple times where he was selling like a PS2 for like $75 on eBay and they would buy it have it where he has to use a specific label that states it's coming from them to ship it out

This is rough especially when local game stores are way cheaper and on top of that don't use nothing other than OEM parts to repair systems and dk oldies is an old retro store been around for years especially on eBay and you would think they would do right.

I only wish that he had went ahead and opened the controller too. For the outer shell to look like it did, I'm sure the inside was either dirty or had torn membranes if it wasn't working well. Just a crazy price for an average condition NES with one of the cheapest and low quality 3rd party power supplies out there.
I cant completely hate on these companies though. For every buyer on Dkoldies, that's one less competitive bidder to deal with on eBay. If someone is willing to pay $300 for an NES and two marios, then they are pretty likely to outbid me on an auction lol.

One thing I could say about cartridge pins because too many people will blow into the cartridges no matter how many times you clean them they're always going to be dirty because people in the eighties instead of actually learning how to clean cartridges properly date all just decided to blow into the cartridge ruining the pins that's not DK oldies fault

CRT's are absolutely ridiculous as far as weight is concerned. It's not just the weight. Its the fact that all of the weight is in the front toward the glass screen. Even small ones are a pain to lug around. I have a 27 inch trinitron that I love, but god damn if I have to move it!

The 1994 model was given to me by my boss at work and the other i found it on a curb from a fancy rich neighborhood.
