Legion Slim 7i is easily A tier, none other in its price range are built that good. As an overall laptop it reigns supreme in under $2000 with its screen, keyboard, metal chassis and performance (rtx 4070 is a great mid-tier gpu with its efficiency and framegen)
as good as legion pro 5i in terms of performance, but build quality is better, it weigh 0.5 kg less and quite thin. (legion pro 5i also feels very premium though). so idk why the guy set it in B tier@@mainacc2480
I had been waiting for these reviews (thank you so much) Jarrod brilliant line up as always! I am going for the Strix G 16, Black Friday special and because the specs!
I struggle agreeing with the Zephyrus M16 being in S tier after ASUS sent out the variant with a 4070 and mini led to reviewers, but decided to not sell that variant in certain markets like the US, locking the mini led display to the more expensive 4080 and 4090 variants. This feels scummy from ASUS
Nah, you can buy a 4070 variant M16 with miniled But just not the US Definitely a dealbreaker for 2k, but for 1.5k? Considering the fact that you’re buying a t/l with a completely redesigned chassis + mobo for features typically only seen on thicker laptops? I would say it’s S tier. As much as ppl trash on the 4070 about not getting more performance, the power efficiency really comes into play here as the M16, a t/l laptop, doesn’t have to partially cripple itself for the thing to even work. I’ll stop circlejerking this thing, but I feel like if you’re very technically capable and are aware of ghelper, then this is the laptop to go for. But solely for performance alone? Yeah, I agree with y’all lmaoooo
Been looking for a new gaming laptop for two months. These videos have been amazingly helpful. Sadly the country in which I live doesn't have the same deals or models or prices available, but I can still gauge roughly what I want. Now I just need to decide to actually spend the money.

I just recently bought the Legion Pro 7i from B&H after watching your review on it and seeing it on sale on your website. It's only been a few days, but so far I absolutely love it! Crazy how much power can be in a laptop these days. My previous laptop was a XMG Xenia 15, which I also got after watching your review on it a couple years ago, and that has been super awesome as well. Now my wife will be using it. As a legion slim 7(AMD) user, it's plain perfect. Productivity-wise: Performance good enough for University projects . 4060 is quite capable of small to medium scale neural network training for edge AI in local environment. Extraordinary build quality, excellent 240hz 2.5k display suitable for all kinds of use cases, dead silent under light load, impressive battery life. Gaming: quite good when I play Cyberpunk. With the efficiency of 40 series GPU, I can achieve 70-80 fps at ultra when 140w portables adapter is plugged in. In cs2 the full potential of 240hz can be utilized. In a laptop form factor, it ticks all the boxes.
I love seeing all these comments on people thinking the legion slim 7 is underrated. It actually makes the laptop look better, which couldn't have happened if it wasn't originally reviewed as it was.
@@yeye3124 Hardly warm to the touch when I use battery. No guarantee if you plan to game a lot. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the Blades not having LED all over them being a Negative against them. Like, the few laptops I’ve had with LEDs on them, that gets turned off almost immediately. The Blades aren’t perfect, and they are definitely overpriced, but having a more minimal design is a benefit, I want the performance not the lightshow.
I thought all the rgb mentions were a joke lol I understand rbg as a very subjective like and dislike thing with gaming laptops (same with flashy designs) I, personally, have thought gaming laptops should have moved on from those things by now, but I can see how a laptop w/ very little unique design aesthetics could be bad for brand recognition. tldr; You want boring, but not too boring

Only flaw is unupgradable RAM slots, and it should disqualify it being S tier. Definitely A tier. Id still pick Nitro V 16, cheaper, more upgrades and have Liquid Metal in it. Also for anyone curious, Nitro 5 and Nitro V are two different laptops. Check out Nitro V 16 or 17. Budget and High Tier.
IMO The helios neo 16 is waaay better and is heavily underrated. It has liquid metal, better cooling, hx intel processors and i think killer wifi card, upgradable in all slots, mux switch and all that for 1.2k+, dollars not to mention Newly upgraded design of the helios series. I think it competes with Legion 5 in the midrange area. HELLA way better than those microwave TUF series be it amd or intel version. No ports at the back is a downgrade
Well, Legion 7i is for in the premium ish range. The helios Neo is the budget option which competes with legion 5 also way cheapre, the Helios 16 is the more premium one and Im talkin the neo 16 here. Also Screen from the helios neo has QHD 16:10@@rajyavardhansingh4491

Slim 7/7i is easy no 1 of the s tier. Best build quality, best price to performance to build ratio, best specs & upgradibility for price (16gb soldered & only 40dollar for another 16gig 5600), 2 m.2, all 10gig usb, tb4, type c charging 140w, sd card slot, most importantly you can turn off dedicated gpu completely, great color accurate 165hz 3.2k screen option for 20 bucks 😂, great keyboard as usual Lenovo, great doorstep support for 1yr free, 99.9wh battery, i just don't see how it's not top of s tier, The only thing they can improve is give an mini led screen as option or even better oled. I don't get why a "gaming laptop" has to be have only gpu & cpu specs & wattages to be great if that's what you want better build a pc.

I have a 4k 60fps dell external monitor at home. So picking 3k display will have a bit of overlapping in terms of functionality. But that's just me. No matter what kind of peripherals you have, legion slim 7 is easily the best choice for most people this year without breaking their wallets

Where I live, prices vary widely from US prices, so I'd love this tier list but with price ranges on the y-axis and ordering the laptops by how cheap they'd need to be to be considered S tier. Adding a color code for how likely you'll find the laptops at their 'S tier prices' would be the cherry on top
What gaming laptop are you using Jarrod? I recently got the Gigabyte Aorus 17H. Got this model as it had the cheapest 4080 at $2999 AUD and next one was $700 more
Hey Jarrodd! Thanks a lot for your videos! In the past 2 weeks I spent hours and hours researching what laptop to buy during Black Friday and ended up going with the Asus ROG STRIX G16. Happy to see it in S-tier!
Price is mentioned where relevant, though only in a range. I mentioned a few times that prices change all the time, and they're also regional, so I don't think it's useful putting a price up that might be completely wrong the next day.
Prices never stay the same, especially around the holidays and he lives in Australia not US and prices can be all over the place....if you see a laptop you are interested in check the price ffs how lazy are you

1st of all, I really like this kind of videos from you. Excellent and super informative. 2ndly, i think it will be much easier if you rank it based on how much would you recommend the laptop rather than the overall aspect of the laptop. Of course your recommendation will consider the overall aspect, but ranking by recommendation will be easier to do especially for those laptops that hv lots of good features but totally not recommended due to unreasonable price, like the titan gt77 (if im not mistaken).
I bought Strix Scar 17 RTX 4090 this year. This is my second laptop which I bought based on this channel recommendation and review. Thanks to Jarrod, choosing a laptop has never been this easy.
Nice, i also have it. I upgraded it to the max 64 gigs of ram. I so wanted the scar 18, 4090 where you can get up to 128 but it was out of stock. Can’t win em all
G16 in S where it's supposed to be🤌. But in all seriousness this really puts in perspective how many laptops Jarrods reviews. Thanks for all the great content.
Hey there Jarrod.. thanks for the video. Do you get to look at more "mainstream" configurations? For example, I bought the Asus Strix 18 with RTX 4080 on sale for 1999 at BestBuy over black Friday last year. It's a beast, and I love it. No screen bleed issues, just great performance at a great price. But it seems that "S" tier reviewers like yourself tend to only get the "Scar" versions of laptops like that. I found the same when researching (and buying) the Flow x16. Everyone had the maxed-out version, but the more common model with the RTX 3060 seems to go unnoticed. Anyway, as a fellow reviewer, I get this same type of question all the time because manufacturers tend to send me their flagship products, too. Just curious as to what kind of leeway you may have in getting the more common options. Thanks Rick
Unfortunately we get what we're given to borrow and have to deal with it, we rarely get to pick the specs of the laptops we cover. It's harder being in Australia too, we have different models available eventhough Australia is only 3% of our viewers.
Guys help me out please. I'm going to order a new Lenovo laptop this week. My priorities are games, content creation and "relative" transportability (just sometimes carrying it around) I'm thinking about Legion Pro 5i, Legion Pro 5, and Legion Slim 5 (14"). All three of them on rtx 4060. The price is the same on Lenovo education store. Does it really matter to go after the bigger 16" models to get more performance or cooling? It's just I guess I would be more comfortable with the 14", but at the same time the more performance the better. So is there any REAL difference between these models in terms of performance in games for example or not? Many many thanks for your time!❤
I picked up the Legion pro 7i at B&H Video with the RTX 4090 for $2499 us. Great machine so far. I need to dial in the fan curve and undervolt to lower the noise.
damn i think this years helios 16 was quite a beaut, sad we missed out on it. ( oh but it has only 1 m.2 slot just like the HP Transcend) and whats up with the nitro V ? was it a south-east asia only release or something ? all the alienware's brightness power budget went into the LED brightness hahaha classic btw, love this format where you personally pick your fav laptop out of them, and share your opinion as to why. its so nice. completely subjective yet somehow remains objective.
Yeah the Helios 16 with the Mini-LED screen is super good. While it "only" tops out with an RTX 4080, the 4090 isn't much better but would be much more expensive, not to mention it's pretty reasonable for a Mini LED config; I've seen it on Amazon for about $2500. For a top of the line screen, an Intel Core i9-13900HX, and an RTX 4080, that's impressive, apart from the battery and performance on battery.
I bought the RTX 4070 version recently. It doesn't thermal throttle, the screen is professional grade, and the port selection is generous. Liquid metal thermal paste, a mux switch plus several other positive things. Jarrod made a huge mistake right here with that model, and it's a shame he doesn't see it himself. ASUS TUF laptops and the Acer Nitro are lower quality and budget laptops.
Want to ask, for Lenovo LoQ users, how is the CPU and GPU temperature when playing games? Is there a problem when playing games for too long? Thank you for answering
The Victus definitely needs more love. One thing you left out, is that you can customize it to your specs on the HP online store. Also, they always have sales on their gaming laptops.

they both have the same feature. I live in Sweden. Which one should I buy? MSI Thin GF63 - i5 | 16GB | 512GB | RTX 4060 -- Lenovo LOQ 15IRH815.6" - i5-12450H - GeForce RTX 4060 - 16GB - 512GB
Go for Lenovo LOQ. MSI's GF series is notorious for its hinge problem that it breaks after a year or even earlier (my brother has one and is now forced to use an external monitor)
I would agree with the general trend of these rankings. Lenovo in S-tier, Asus in A-tier, and everyone else… who cares. When I’ve looked at laptops this year, I tried to consider MSI and Dell and HP, but they all seemed lackluster compared to the top 2. I am speaking as an owner of last year’s GE66 3070ti. I will never buy another MSI again. Very bad keyboard build quality. I have my first Asus now and lots of Lenovos in the past. My next laptop will be back to Lenovo.
I really feel like the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14 OLED not supporting G-sync/Freesync in the end really hurts it... Though given that I do most my gaming on a monitor I am still considering it. It is rather unacceptable though for a laptop of that price.
Awesome video, thanks for your content. You made me choose the Slim 7i and i am soo happy with that device. I just received my TUF F15 with a i7-12700H and RTX4060, 515GB SSD and 16GB RAM that I bought for 999 Eur on this Black Friday weekend on Amazon. My other option was Acer Nitro 5 with a ryzen 7 5800H and RTX3070, with a 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM but would cost me 100 Eur more. I watched like 20-30 reviews on UA-cam and read a lot of comments on Amazon and decided to go for the TUF and just to upgrade it with a 1TB SSD, which costs around 50-60 Eur on Amazon. I decided against the Nitro, because it seems like it has a big overheating problem (and by that I mean above average). And I know a RTX3070 sounds nice but it looks like the 4060 works more efficently with power and offers with DLSS more longevity in the future and that by being very similar in performance. Also TUF F15 looks way nicer (for me) and feels less like cheap plastic. A bit disappointed that it landed almost on the last place in your list, although I know you reviewed it with different specs.

I just bought the Asus strix g16 on Amazon during the Black Friday special offer. I mainly have an Acer background, so the rgb backlit keyboard was a plus for me. And I’m a game dev and casual gamer, so I’m excited to see the power of Asus. This is perfect timing because my Acer Aspire 5 recently died, and I’m in dire need of a reliable laptop so I can play games and design my own games.
For the same price and same specs , Asus TUF A15 or Lenovo LOQ 15 ? I know you rated the LOQ higher but you said the TUF was too expensive, so if they're the same price which is a better buy ?
Things to consider with Razer: - They typically run marginally quieter with their vapor chamber cooling. - Might feel like a “metal slab” but it also feels premium without all that junk plastic flex. Keyboard, hinges, screen flex are all S-tier. - Doesn’t “look like” a gaming laptop. You can easily put a sleeve over the Razer LOGO so it appears great if you’re using it in a professional setting. - Lastly, their screens typically reach 500 nits versus the standard 300 which really brings out colors/contrast and is beautiful to play games/movies on.

So far I have had min. 10 laptops, but not one was so quiet, cold from all sides, e.g. when i played csgo?? So: is there any model that can be compared to the G752 that is so good in terms of cooling and silence when playing. Thank you in advance
They did get a refreshed Legion 5 in China and the US, and it's a killer for what you could get for around 1000USD: 4060 140W, R7-7735HS, 2K 165Hz with 16:9, and Legion 5 2022 quality built.

asus came with amazing features and design but can be problematic like dead pixels, coil wine and more. lenovos tend to make way less trouble. longevity is unbelieveble in lenovos

After a long time of watching your channel and learning about how to understand what I want in a laptop, I ended up settling with the Strix G18 earlier this year, looks like I chose a good one. (Even though that isn't on the list.) Just a larger screen than the G16. Thank you!

As much as ppl trash on the 4070 about not getting more performance, the power efficiency really comes into play here as the M16, a t/l laptop, doesn’t have to partially cripple itself for the thing to even work.

As a legion slim 7(AMD) user, it's plain perfect.

Thanks

btw, love this format where you personally pick your fav laptop out of them, and share your opinion as to why. its so nice. completely subjective yet somehow remains objective.
Who told you it has 1 m.2 slot , it has 2 bro .

Hey , how are the temperatures? In idle and full load
Yes i own the 2,5k Version. To be honest, this was the only thing i was sure about. Should i take the 3.2k Version or the 2.5k.
I chose the 2.5k because i think the resolution ist quite enought for the screen size. I prefere a 500nints display with HDR support.
To your question, the display is quite amazing. I own a MSI Gaming Monitor (2022 Version) and in direct compare, the lenovo has better colors.. @@ant4686
The GPU seems like to have a temperatur limit at 87 degrees.. The cpu is in idle around 52degress and can go up 95 under full workload.

I would easily rate MSI gp68hx rtx4080 at A considering it's price2perf, and having lower tier screen can always be fixed with external monitor 😅
hey broc love your vids you make! super detailed and help me learn about different laptops but what do you think of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3? i have the ryzen 5 5600H, RTX 3050 with 8 gigs of ddr4 3200mhz and 512 gigs of nvme? got it for 700 eur at a local store so id say its a good buy, what you think of it? Have you tried a IdeaPad Gaming 3? I really like it because its a pretty high performance laptop for me at least.
Big sad no acer predator Helios 16 review :( . But i decided to go with it anyway since it was on sale at newegg for 1200 USD for the 4060 varient making it cheaper than the legion pro 5 4060 . Hope i made the right choice jarrod 🤔
I think it is
Yeah it's pretty good from what I've heard, bit annoyed we couldn't get it.
@@JarrodsTechalr ty for the reassurance :D
I was very tempted to get the Scar g16 but there was a vector gp68hx with a 4080 for $2600aud that I couldn't go past.
Thank you for all the videos its been a big help.

Man never had Nutella.

What are your thoughts on the build quality of the HP Omen 16?
I got my legion pro 7i with a 4090 for $2100 plus tax... it has to have the best cooling I have ever had in a laptop as it never goes above 87c on CPU at the full 80 watts or above 77c on the GPU at full 175w all at full load at the same time 255w.... it's crazy good, best performer easily this year and the value, my goodness, the value
Where did you find that with those specs for that money?
where did you get the 4090 for that?!? i just got the 4080 one for 2k

Thanks a lot Jarrod. What an amazing work
Snagged a Legion 7 (4080) for 2k, arrives tomorrow from B&H! Thanks for the info man…I think it’s a great deal with 1TB nvme and 32GB RAM.
Got a G14 zephrus 7940hs@5.2ghz, 16g ddr5 5800 ram, rtx 4060 for 1000 on sale, and an extra 90 for a 32 gig stick of ram. Absolutelly nothing on the list is a better deal than that.
Slim 7i is easily A tier
I found legion 5 2021 in a good deal, is it worth getting now? rtx3060, ryzen5, QHD
After hearing Jarrod's take on the X16, I can't help but feel lucky for getting mine with pre-installed AWCC loading up within ~8 seconds at a discount price of $1699 (4060 -140W) from Dell's website 😁
Very happy with my X14r2, 4060 and 32 gig
Nice. I think they should've gone with 4070 though.
At the power levels the X14 is running the GPU at, the 4060 makes the most sense
4060 laptop for $1600 is a scam, don't know why you are so happy. 4070 laptops are in this price range and even one 4080 laptop.
Show me one as thin and portable as the X14 and portability was my main reason I wanted it for.
Great Video ! Was wondering why you didn't cover the 2023 version of the Dell G15 5530
If laptops are missing from these videos, it's just that we didn't get it for review during that period. We have had ongoing issues getting Dell/Alienware in a timely period.
Helios 16 the best
Lenovo LOQ 15 Ryzen 7 7840HS 8-GB 512-GB SSD RTX 4050 6gb and 1080p S.R Price 970$
or
HP VICTUS 16 R0085CL Core i7 13700H 16GB 1-TB SSD RTX 4070 8gb and 1080p S.R price 1310$
or
Lenovo Legion 5 Ryzen 7-7735HS, 16GB, 1-TB SSD, RTX 4060 8gb and 2K S.R Price $1270
.
Which one is the best option please suggest me????
This is underrated, amazing! Got the Legion 5i Pro on sale at B&H for $1399! Superb laptop!
Could you check out the screenbleeding? I want to get the strix g16 but I’m hearing it has so much screen bleed
For the same price and same specs , Asus TUF A15 or Lenovo LOQ 15 ? I know you rated the LOQ higher but you said the TUF was too expensive, so if they're the same price which is a better buy ?
Things to consider with Razer:
- They typically run marginally quieter with their vapor chamber cooling.
Good day
I have a question for you
Can you tell me which laptop can be compared to the asus rog G752 in terms of fan/cooling?
So far I have had min. 10 laptops, but not one was so quiet, cold from all sides, e.g. when i played csgo??
So: is there any model that can be compared to the G752 that is so good in terms of cooling and silence when playing.
Thank you in advance
Hello sir I want to know where the Rog strix g15 (2022) ryzen 7 R7-6800 Nvidia rtx 3060/165hz would rank here?
Hi jarrod nice video keep it up mate, what abt 2023 Tuf F15 with i7-13620H RTX 4070 and 32gb ram
Hi Jarrod's tech, I was just wondering have you done any reviews on the Acer 17 i7 4060 13th gen gaming laptop? Many thanks Garry
I see your daily deals has the Helios 16 with a 4080 on sale for 1800. Would you; recommend that over the Legion 7i 4070 due to graphics card alone?
They did get a refreshed Legion 5 in China and the US, and it's a killer for what you could get for around 1000USD: 4060 140W, R7-7735HS, 2K 165Hz with 16:9, and Legion 5 2022 quality built.
Where, i cant find it in us
Hey Jarrod, what do you think about flow x 16?
Once again excellent video. Just one question -, what about the alienware m17?
If it's not in the video then we didn't receive it. Unfortunately, we have ongoing issues getting Dell/Alienware laptops.
Which version of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 should I buy? Ryzen 9 7945hx or i9 13900hx? Both with RTX 4080. AMD version seems to get too hot :/
Great videos! For next year's tier list, could you place better ones farther left than worse ones in each category. So we clearly see which ones wins. For example S-tier ASUS Strix G16 vs. Lenovo Legion Pro 7(i)
asus came with amazing features and design but can be problematic like dead pixels, coil wine and more. lenovos tend to make way less trouble. longevity is unbelieveble in lenovos
Lenovo and Asus are far ahead of the game when it comes to Gaming Laptops!
Thanks that was informative! I've been eyeing the Lenovo Legion pro 7i and the Legion 9i. They seem most reasonably priced (in Canada) for the specs involved.
Really great video! I just got a question: I’ve heard that the stix g16 in particular has very noticeable backlight beeding after about a month of usage. Can u confirm or deny this claim?
We don't get to spend that amount of time with the laptops, but we didn't experience any issues with it when using it.
How would you rank Helios 16? Looks like it has good reviews from others, but really would like to see the same quality of review of you
After a long time of watching your channel and learning about how to understand what I want in a laptop, I ended up settling with the Strix G18 earlier this year, looks like I chose a good one. (Even though that isn't on the list.) Just a larger screen than the G16. Thank you!
Yeah we didn't get that one this year, but I believe it's quite similar to the Scar version which did rate highly, hope you enjoy it!
its not often i consume content from my FAVORITE creators over 10 min, i eated the whole vid learning (and laughing.. XD has brighty light? S) thanks for your job and if only you could twist a lil and use the Laptops (or items you comparing) with a color background to make a dif between low mid and high $$$, so people dont find it weird you put in the same bracket a 14¨ $650 and a 18¨ $5k laptop, i think i understood your metrics (thats why im getting either LOQ a strix 16 or the legion pro 5i (depending which one its more money worthy atm in mexico) looking to know more of your content (specially pc which is gonna be next buy)
What would you pick? Legion Pro 7i with 4080 32gb ram i9 13900Hx or M16 4070 32gb ram i9 13900H?
