Rest in peace, Jeff, you were and always will be one of the greatests.
My god he is missed, but lives on sharing in his legacy. The energy that ran through me as I listened. I have no words!!
The feel and touch this man has is amazing. Totally captured this song.
I’ve been playing guitar for about 25 years. Maybe more. And somehow have missed out on Jeff Beck until recently. I’m ashamed of that…. but feel like I have such a wonderful journey ahead of me now in finding all his music. Such a unique voice.
Rest in peace, you should be called St.Beck for all the happiness you gave people with your music. God bless you.
He truly makes the guitar sing! It's as if you can hear the words coming through! What a gift!
Personally, I think that "A Day in the Life" is the best rock song ever written. Beck certainly does it justice here.
Agreed
RIP Jeff Beck. RIP John Lennon. 🙏
One of the best covers ever... of one of the best songs ever.
Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived. He plays one note and you know immediately its him. There's only one Jeff Beck, there are no substitutes.
DAMN!!! I just bought a whole crate of 'Jeff Beck Substitutes'...
Now I know they are WORTHLESS!!!
Preaty me faveryet
Perfectly stated
One of the top five.
Jeff was the very best guitarist ever and especially with the whammy bar.....I was so very lucky to have been able to see him play live back in the late 70's....He will be forever missed and remembered....😞🎸🔥💪👊🙏
ITS the Other way Around, He learned from Jimmy, pls,KINDLY NOTE,.
@Bugi Ansari yeah for sure. Jeff didn't have his trem bar techniques developed till quite a few years after Hendrix had passed away.
@@jscordoba3 at the different Time frames and Technology Both were superb Jimmy was way way ahead, Creating the best,,that he ever had,
You guys are confusing jimmy (Page) and Jimi (Hendrix)
@@BugiAnsari😂😂
I"m in shock....he is the master of the volume swell...jesus, what control, vibrato, whammy tricks...the list goes on and on...incredible performance!
Till the day he passed Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were very close more so than Eric and Jimmy. The day Jeff gave Jimmy the dragon tele . He handed over the keys to the Yardbirds I could see it if I was there but RIP Jeff Beck u brought joy to million of people all over the world
I love "A Day in the Life," and never thought I could stomach ANYBODY's cover of that classic. But.....wow. What a virtuoso performance. Un-be-lievable. Beck is just a creative master of his instrument.
It just goes to show the genius of this man !
Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental the year it came out
Neil Young also does a very inspired version
Jeff Beck does pure magic on his strat
Beck is one of the best 🎸
Jeff is the GOAT. Thank you for leaving us your best pieces.
His fingers rarely leave the controls while still playing every note…sooo touch sensitive and dynamic…this one is incredible…
Such a great, unique player on so many levels! I was VERY fortunate to get to see him a few years ago just before Covid. I wish Tal had been with him then. Nobody like him.
So grateful to this master of the guitar for all his work. Respect!
Beck is playing a Beatles song here. Awesome work.
What a fantastic and "fine" band. So much fun and joy to listen to each single nuance of any of them! And Tal was just having the best of teachers...
The style Jeff played is called "dynamics" for we the guitar players.Less fingers apparently, much music generated by it.Amazing and surely touch the most of souls who listen his play.
Even the "BEATLES" would love this!! What a "MASTER" guitarist!! He can play so many varieties of tunes!!
He left us so much to remember !
That bassist is amazing. You have to be musically very solid to play bass at all, and to play with someone at Jeff's level? Says a lot about her. Her tone was awesome, and she played with effortless grace. I'm a drummer so I usually notice that, but damn, she's a good bassist.
Tal Wilkenfeld on bass.
Ok ok
She plays with Beck!
@@Lentin00 You mean the other Beck? Cuz we kind of know she plays with this Beck ...
Tal is a true gem
watching tal's eyes- and her smile, while she was playing her bass - you could tell that she KNEW...
I don't care what anyone says this is one of the best guitar songs I've ever heard by the amazing Jeff Beck.
@@nblackmore Still at Cheers and still drunk.
Still not recover from the shock of the passing of a great guitarist whom I respected and admired.
I realise now how essential the guitar tones and phrases he played were in shaping my life.
Love you Jeff….
What a beautiful sensitive version of this song, touches all the sadness and pain it was about. It's amazing that Beck is still playing for huge audiences. Thinking about how few from that time are still active or even alive. I notice a lot of ignorant comments. The man is 75 and still going strong, such a rare talent. Try to think if you can even walk on to that stage when you're 75, much less make such a masterly performance. And such a humble man and such a lovely relationship he has with his band members. And remember there was a time when Pink Floyd was too shy to ask him become their next and he was invited to the Rolling Stones too. What an example for all the young musicians.
I have followed Beck since the late 60s and he is to the guitar what Keith Emerson is to the keyboard...a virtuoso! I had always hoped that Jeff and Jimmy would get together after 1980 from time to time, maybe every 4-5 years and just do something completely different from Zepp or Yardbirds and just experiment with each other, but it never happened. Grand performance by Jeff.
My thoughts exactly you hit the nail on the head
There is no "best" guitarist, but I can tell you that Jeff Beck is on the very short list of my favorites.
Hey Robert, you get it; there is no best, but like good bottles of scotch or wine, each is to be savored and enjoyed for their uniqueness. Jeff, Jimmy, Eric, and Peter, all grew up at about the same time, and were great friends, but rivals too. I think too many people equate greatness with record sales, and not talent. Damn shame that...
@@stephenreed1298 You're forgetting Rory!
@@alframseysporndungeon8 You're right! And many more, including Gary, (pun intended!) It was an incredible outburst of guitar talent that changed guitarists then, and to this day.
@ Stephen Reed : Absolutely! But don't discount the guitarists of today either. Sure a lot have great technique, but are lacking feel, and or creativity, and some are all feel, but not much on technique, etc. But that's how it's always been anyway. There are new greats out there right now though, it's just not something you'll hear much on pop radio to say the least, lols.
If there is no best guitarist why has Jeff Becj in several interviews said John McLaughlin is the best guitar player? Surely his inestimable opinion matters when it comes to such a question.
Beck is a fine wine. He just gets better with age.
Beck has rid himself of tired old prejudices, so he has found his way back to an open mind witch is why children are able to learn most things at a faster rate than adults. Because they don't *mistakenly* _"think"_ they know a lot about anything.
*Never discount anyone because they are "too" whatever.*
@@aylbdrmadison1051 Hell you talkin' 'bout lady.
R.I.P, thanks for the company for over three decades with me.
He was a little before my time.. unfortunately Im realizing now how amazing he was!! What feel he had. One of all time greats JB was 🤘🤘 RIP.. unfortunately the last of the greats are all gone
Jesus, did that really happen? Unbelievable!!!
Every song I ever heard in one! Just wow!!
🥲
Jeff Beck has the ability to make it sound like the guitar is an extension of his heart.
I've watched this whole show from Ronnie Scott's, not just Jimmy Page, but Robert Plant in the audience and Eric Clapton sits in.
I own the entire DVD of this concert. It's absolutely amazing! Beck rocks!
What is the name of the DVD? I want to buy one as soon as possible. Thank you!
The true guitar God, other legends have said he hits notes they cant find. A true legend.
I think that was Randy Rhoads they were talking about.
When Page comes to watch someone play, you know the guy has to be rather good!
Plant was there too...
... yup, 'N probably there to "pick" up some pointers as he probably did during the Yardbird days ... LOL
Page went to watch the bass player but he was turned off when he realized she's over 14 years old
Beck, Page, and Clapton were in the Yardbirds.
@@yngwiemalmsteen5376 Your preoccupation with that when Jimmy Page is brought up says quite a bit about you. Sicko
Only Jeff Beck can make the guitar - Wisper / Talk / Shout / Scream all without stamping multiple pedals - all with his tremolo and volume nobs on the guitar and his magical fingers.
Though often said about musicians, there will NEVER be another Jeff Beck..
He was God to all the guitar Gods..
very very sad to hear of Jeff's passing......... I dont think we will ever see his like again
Jeff's guitar actually replaces the orchestra on "A Day In The Life". Amazing! No other guitarist could have managed that feat.
Peter Frampton tried jajaaj
Oh I'm sure there are many, but you can't really compete with an orchestra.
He's good, but I hear the keyboard more than his guitar in that part.
Omg, what a performance
Jimmy Page @ 4:51 and was very happy of Jeff's performance. Amazing control on the stratocaster, the notes scream, sustain and whisper on command, a legend indeed !
It makes you cry what he can do with a melody. My favorite of all time.
Man, I'm speechless. Who could possibly have imagined a version of this song without vocals? Not me, for sure.
I heard every word, mate. It was beautiful.
The guitar ARE the vocals!
its a gulper ...
I don't think it works. But that's a testament to John's voice.
Masterpiece!
first thing he does after playing is give props to the band accompanying him, what a legend
He works the whammy with the skill of a goddamn heart surgeon.
indeed!!!!!!!
Yes he does!
One bass one drummer one keyboard player #1 guitarist, & no vocals (none required)!!!!
AMAZING
Of course it's subjective, but to me, Jeff Beck is the best guitar player on the planet.
Alive...
Yep.
I do agree from those I know. So subtle and strong.
Surely among them
Only Jimi Hendrix comes close imo
His playing leaves me speechless. Just shaking my head and scraping my jaw off the floor. Just incredible.
Jeff Beck is totally amazing! He plays that fender with complete precision!
Man, after all these years... I see this, and just remember all over again what a MONSTER artist Jeff Beck is on the guitar.
Bravo!
Jeff Beck was a mad scientist on the guitar. He is pretty much impossible to cover. What now?
Gone forever, thank God for records and cassettes and CDs and You Tube...we can still hear him play
Just an amazing performance!
I saw him at the LBC in Santa Rosa California in 2016 with Buddy Guy and it was EPIC!!! RIP you were a monster guitarist!!!!
amazing
Jeff’s mastery of the micro-tone was second to none. He is missed.
Jeff has such amazing dynamic command...when I was younger I thought.."what's the big deal with jeff beck"...now I know he's the best at what he does...incredible cover, incredible band
Evan Davidson Beck’s control of the whammy bar is incredible. I don’t know what the big deal of Jimmy Page being there is? It’s near to Page’s home and they have been friends for 50 years. This was for a video that was a big deal for Beck and it’s not surprising his friends who live in the London area would come.
Same. I didn't know what I was missing not listening to him over the others of the earlier Era.
I loved the Yardbirds, but after listening to this, I think Jeff Beck is in his own unique class, and spellbinding as a sound generator. What a guy!!
WOW...just WOW. Jeff Beck nothing else needs be said. But he is so humble. Now Tal Wilkenfeld is taking off with her wonderful singing and playing. The new solo record is amazing.
Now in our hearts.
Beck and page have influenced so many. My friend and i started playing guitar very young in 1965. Our influences soon became Page, Beck, Hendryx, Clapton and Peter Green. They were the best of the modern rockn roll guitarists. We obviously new good players because, they are all still well known and listened to today.
We still play and will until we can't.
Slam dunk, top 5 of all time. And arguably, no. 1
I'm stunned. This is the best rendition of a Beatle song that I've heard since I saw Laurence Juber at Beatlefest doing "Strawberry Fields Forever". Great feeling and total commitment. Nice job Jeff.
My best friend taught me how to play.. He was enthralled with beck, and I never understood why - until today. (Decades later). Well done Jeff.
Jimmy page is a fan ,why all the negative words about his playing he is a legend and thinks when jeff beck plays he is the best there is ,jimmy has accomplished alot and admired by every guitar player
... He is a great songwriter; but quite the sloppy guitar player live (saw Led Zeppelin @ MSG several x's), there's really no comparison to his studio guitar chops. I admire his ingenuity, but he doesn't push my musical axe gyroscope like Jeff, Frank Zappa, David Gilmour or Al Di Meola ( I've been playing for 42 years) ...
@@twigtoomooninnovationzU FORGOT " CARLOS SANTANA, LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM, JON MARK(JOHN MAYALLS BLUES BREAKERS, SRV, HENDRIX, DUANE ALLMAN & DICKY BETTS, EVEN PETER TOWNSEND(WHO), GARY MOORE, JOE B. @Dirk Diggler Page is a creative genius on another level and any real musician would tell you the same. Nobody created mood and atmosphere like Page. He went thru phases where his chops suffered, sure. But the best musicians in the last 50 yrs know he's a genius who was tapped into something that very few rock players have ever been. Page moved people
@Dirk Diggler I bet your parents are proud of you 👍😸
@Dirk Diggler I saw Led Zeppelin at MSG a couple times, they were awesome but no comparison toJeff Beck or Frank Zappa live...
The great one of the trio.
Beck has always been one of my favorite guitarists. He created his own signature style with the finger picking and tremolo bar, and great tone. Among fellow guitar giants, he is considered as one of the best. All the negative comments about whether he's better than so and so, just really do injustice to JB. Appreciate him and his music, and leave the other crap out of the discussion. JMTCW
Jeff Beck...Still the most creative and expressive guitarist of today IMO... My #1 influence and a HUUUUGE inspiration. THANK YOU JEFF \m/ #happybirthday #jeffbeck #Adayinthelife
I've always told and said he's the very best from Yardbirds to tonight! Sorry Jimi I love you. It's the longevity! Now I feel lm in a trick bag. Oh well!
I agree with both of ya
@@jeffpeterson1492 Since when was music a competition?
@ stevie smith : It's not, but I bet Jeff knows that too. ^-^
Quist combat
Great cover of this classic song
Jeff is brilliant
Thanks Dirkje for sending it to me
Jimmy Page might have been in a seat, but John Lennon & George Harrison were in the house !! You can see the emotion in Jeff Beck eyes and on Jeff Becks face when he started playing the first few bars of A Day In A Life, this was something very special and nice & Nicely Done & Played By Jeff Beck !!!
So cool that two of the best rock guitarists ever have remained mates after all these years. There's even a video of Clapton joining Jeff and Jimmy on stage somewhere to complete the "holy trinity" of rock gods!
WITH A deep Appreciation Of Other's who guided me in the Discovery of all forms of incredible music genres and talents. I thank you NOW .
I remember the 50s , 60s , 70s , 80s, 90s , 2000 , 2010 , 2020 .
Also an amazing appreciation for everything before . 1890 - 1949 .
I was fortunate to see live performances .
So many . NOW Jeff Beck stands out .
Critical writes of music think only " ONE " Can be on top ! No . Each artist has brought music alongside others for , not comparisons , but happy enjoyment .
I can't wait to live & love for a second 74 year's .
Music sets your soul free , dancing keeps you young .
What a great interpretation of a great Beatle's classic!
I think Jeff Beck has achieved a level that is beyond mere mortals. This concert at Ronnie Scott's is a master performance of skill and tone that is masterful. He is truly great.
Jimmy and Jeff passed through the same bands early on different styles but both respect the shit out of each other
After weighing everything all out
Beck in my book is the best that there is 🔥Hot🔥
Undoubtedly the best guitarist on God's earth. Jeff Beck. Pure excellence.
wide awake Who? Ritchie Blackmore? Agreed.
Jeff Beck. No! Too soon my friend. Your guitar virtuosity will be missed
Very refreshing to Hear "MUSICIANS" playing music....Just so satisfying!....
Jimmy Page is why I started playing but I have since figured out Jeff plays circles around him and all of their other contemporaries. The fact that Jimmy is in the audience is no more worth mentioning in the title than Robert Plant or a long list of others to attend this show.
Rest in Power! Our guitar idols' idol.
Jeff Beck is Jeff Beck...yes, but Vinnie Colaiuta and Tal Wilkenfeld are,in my opinion, extraordinarily talented musicians as well. Vinnie C. is a hall of fame drummer and Tal Wilkenfeld is simply the sexiest bassist on the planet!
Rock In Peace Jeff.
I have the feeling that if Jimi Hendrix was still alive he'd be there at Ronnie Scott's marveling at Jeff's genius.
No words to describe this Masterpiece. God, so moving.
I like the way he just plays whatever he feel like. He inspires me to just have fun playing the guitar, and to cover a song however i want. Music is art not a competition
The stuff and sounds that come out of this guys guitar...! Someone once told me, and I think it's so true, that without Jeff Beck there wouldn't have been an Eddie Van Halen.
Then your friend needs an education.
The Master at work...incomparable. And he is still alive and kicking like a mule.
That will take your breath away! Hard to believe a top 5 guitarist could be under rated but I think he is. Tal will be something special for a long time.
When BOTH Page and Plant (earlier song) are at Beck's show, you KNOW he's good... scratch that... he's the Master!
simply the best.
That was absolutely incredible.
Damn, what a beautiful rendition.
Absolutely amazing version of a Beatles' classic!!! I loved it.
Jimmy Page is there, smiling and watching. Jeff Beck is god. Every musician has their own style, but Jeff Beck has only gotten more incredible as the years roll on. It was a pleasure growing up with his music in my head. 1st saw him on some show when I was 13, saw him live at age 15 and there was not turning back. He is it for me.
I cannot think of any other guitarist with such a wide range of techniques, tone, originality and soul. Also a STELLAR band with Vinnie Colaiuta, Tal Wilkenfeld & Jason Rebello.
Vinnie trabajó en una cancion de Police colaborando con CErati , para el tema " traeme la noche" .. muy buenos arreglos

This is a must buy video. Recently purchased it on Blu-ray, what a treat. Some really incredible performances. The bass player is really something for being so young.
She's really something irrespecive of age or gender.
listening to jeff beck brings tears to my eyes such emotion
I saw Beck play this at Wolftrap outside of D.C. I've never heard anything on guitar that approached it and have never heard as good a version recorded. It was completely musical and not stunt playing like EVH. Truly magical.
love to hear the guys (Jeff Vin and watch Tal's amazingly graceful chops... truly a greaty gifted musician. I doesn't get much better than this lineup. and the songs are just beautifully done***
