@@bradlyfan I have b18b1 from 97 Integra and putting in my 00 civic dx hatchback. what ecu should I use? I have d16y7 harness on and a obd2 to obd1 harness so I can convert to obd1 if that's better
Hey I just remembered that your videos really helped me out with my GSR swap. Your videos were the most well put together in regards to the B18C swap. Thanks to your videos and some really well written forum write ups, I was able to start up on the first crank. The only CEL was there for not having the first o2 sensor plugged in...the exhaust manifold on the 94-99 GSRs are too short and the flanges are postioned differently. Anyways, thanks again!
I'm about to do a b18c swap into My OBD2A Civic. I was going to order that harness that you speak about but I was just wondering what the level of difficulty was? And where you found instructions on how to wire it? Because for an extra $100 I can buy a complete ex harness and was just wondering what your opinion on it was?
Ive got an LS swapped 97 civic EX and it runs good but the check engine light is on (which I'm not freaking out about) and I'm sure I did something wrong lol. Vtec wiring harness to non vtec motor. Lots of plugs left hanging..
I think this is it: 1910-P3F-000 I grab mine out of the junkyard from a CRV. www.bernardiparts.com/Honda/Parts-List.aspx go to like a 98 crv ex 5 spd under the engine:cylinder block/oil pan section
yeah i was debating to engine swap my car too but i was like forget it ecu getting vtec chipped or getting a s2000 hondata t brakets and all these other things i rather just throw some arp head studs ungraded cams and turbo the car clean the engine grime and have a turbo exhaust adaptor to bolted on to my exhaust axle back and muffler
How can I bolt in the power steering pump? b18c1 going into 98 EX Civic. Have the gsr brackets, and pump, but the high pressure hose does not hook up. Thinking I need a ps pump from a 99 SI??
No you can reuse the Civic pump. Just need a bracket from the CRV B20. Check on Honda-tech and search for the exact one. I was able to reuse the entire Civic PS system.
Hey man, i recently bought a 76 cvcc and my motor is no good, been thinking about doing an b18c swap but i have absolutely no knowledge of swapping engines, is there any tips or specific websites that i can look at ??
Okay so, I’m planning to do a B18C2 Swap on my 1st gen CRX si(1985)… after some research I realize that OBD-1 was introduced to the us market in ‘92. Will this cause me trouble if I’m OBD-0 on my ECU?
Im going wit a B18b1 in my 98 dx but it isn’t vtec and the dx obvio none vtec can i also use that harness or would have to just find the harness and I also have a ex harness fully un cut Lmk
I have a dc1 integra. (1.6L non VTEC) , what exactly do i need? Or any tips? As obviously the chassis etc is the same as the dc2 , so its just the Loom , ecu , mounts , and?..
Stauffer Garage going to be dropping the y7 and installing everything on Friday, it's going to be a long day but everything SHOULD go as planned .. I'm excited
Stauffer Garage I'm sure , nothing goes correctly as planned ... now because I'm dropping in a jdm b20 block(GSR head) it has no ckf so I gotta do the ckf bypass trick .. technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm I still need the upper radiator hose and I think I might get the thermostat as per your recommendation ..(I'm doing the timing belt water pump etc etc as well)
Stauffer Garage remember you said I'd run into something ? I did.... my b20 did have a dented oil pan and the oil pickup was bent ... (had a junk GSR block laying around so I was gonna use that for some donor parts) so yeah I dropped the oil pan after I drained the oil from the b20V andddd metal sediments galore ... metal shavings galore ... that little time that the car had running with the damaged oil pick up wreaked havoc on the bearings ... because it's a low mileage jdm block the crank is good but the bearings took the hit .... gonna junk the block or save it and build that but for now gonna get a high compression b20 block and throw my vtec head over .. on that
I have I 96 civic with a 97 b18c jdm and jdm p72 motor in it but body is trash ,so and im going to strip everthing from that car to a 2000 civic coupe automatic whats the best harness to get on a budget
Putting a 94gsr in my 00gsr. What will I need for the conversion? Since I would be going from obd2 to obd1? Or should I keep everything obd2 by switching everything over to the new motor
Or just use your harness and search 3 wire iacv to 2 wire online. You just depin one wire and depin and relocate one wire on your harness ecu plug.Takes 5 minutes.
Nice videos...Did you upgrade your fuel pump? I have the same setup but it seems like my stock fuel pump is not flowing enough fuel. I'm thinking of upgrading to 255 walbro fuel pump. Let me know ur opinion thanks
No, and I would doubt that you would need an upgraded pump unless your pump is going bad. The stock pump can flow plenty of fuel and if anything you could upgrade your fuel pressure regulator and adjust that pressure to flow more through your injectors first if you truly have the same setup as me.
I just bought a b18b1 and trans with “stage 3 clutch” for $200 bucks. It was previously in a 97 ek civic. How can I tell if it is the correct obd for my 2000 civic? I have a stock d16y8 ex sedan
I’m only 19 and I’m new to all of this stuff. quarantine has me bored so I want to start learning new stuff. bought all the tools I need! just need to learn it all now lol
question. so when you put the b20 ac bracket did you use the b20 pulley or did you use the d16 pulley. reason why I went to my local junkyard and they only had one crv that had the bracket taken off already but it was missing the pulley. today being Thursday I have to wait till the weekend to see if I can swap it over but I would like some reassurement
Actually they should be identical, at least it was for me! the one on the B20 bracket had bad bearings and I swapped on the D16 one and been running no issues. Visually they looked identical so I ran with it.
Stauffer Garage awesome. thank you very much. I'll do the same. Also keep up the videos I gotta say I found your videos better informed than those from Honda street garage.
Glad to hear and glad you are enjoying my content! Always open to suggestions and fyi tonight new video will be out! First episode of the Summer detailing series!
Did you ever make a video for OBD1 to OBS2 swaps? I live in CA and I’m beginning to collect parts for a 1999 B18C5 that will go into my 1992 Honda Civic CX non Vtech hatch. I will be buying the ATK remanufactured B18C5 engine. 4 month waiting list.
Hello sir, I have trouble with the connecting the wiring harness, please show how you did it. I have a p3x ecu currently installed. It only has 2 plugs while the p72 I have has 3 please help
Engine Ecu and reuse the LS harness, you would just need to add the harness I have linked in the description box for vtec, dual intake manifold and crank sensor.
i have a 1999 honda civic lx d16y7 tubo, i would like to swap in a b16a sir ek9 and i would like to keep it obd2 for emissions purpose, what do you recommend. any help would be thankful.

+Jim Boi thabks a lot! I can look into it but know the biggest difference is in the crank position sensor on the front. You need to bypass or switch the oil pump to a hadn't version and add the sensor
Help please i am having problems with my 96 gsr swap into my 99 ek hatch, The ecu coneccion on the ecu its different from my ek civic, I bought a obd2b-obd2a jumper harnes but still cant fit 😥
can you explain the difference between the Si post mount vs a CRV post mount? I have used the CRV post mount the same as you but my T Bracket has trouble fitting correctly, I've been told it was bc of the CRV post mount but I don't know if that's the case. Any ideas?
+Tim Lowery do you have the civic si t bracket? The si post mount should also be identical because it allows you to use the pancake type mount used on civics. Where as the integra mount is similar to the tranny side where its a large circle mounted horizontal.
+Stauffer Garage yeah, every mount lines up seemingly correct except the rear bracket, the Si T Bracket, it's like the mount and motor are too close and the T Bracket is very difficult to get in place
Working on this later today, is there another form of contacting you? I'd like to work out this t bracket mystery bc it's quite frustrating. But I'd like to discuss this without searching for the video each time lol please respond!!
4 years later im doing my first civic swap with a b18c i did some research and figured out the b18c is the jdm verison and the c5 is the usdm verison. the only difference comes with the match transmissions. the final drive is shorter on the jdm verison.
hi, im interested about a swap b18 vti on my currently d14a4 97 civic hatch...is that possible and what I need to prepare to have to install that swap? Best reguards (Y)
So I have a da9 and I just got a obd2 gsr and am about to do the swap as far as I've read it's basically a direct swap besides the dual runner intake manifold which I already bought a skunk2 manifold and 70mm throttle body and I need a p28 or p30 ecu so I need to wire the vtec but I got a vtec wire kit and I believe that's it correct? Thanks.
about how much would i spend to do this set up on my 99 ex and put a 99 gsr? im not a mecanic im not sure how much it will cost? thats what im trying to figure out thanks.
I did the swap for about $2,300. I did all the work myself so I saved a ton of money. I was able to get an Exedy clutch and Hasport mounts. Also budget in some custom exhaust work. This was my first B series swap and I was able to get it running on the first crank. I almost teared up, but my wife was watching me.
+blix8787 I would check on honda tech if the b16 pump needs to be used or if the civic one can transfer over... I'm pretty sure it will. I didn't have power steering on my civic so I didn't have to add it, just the ac compressor
I'm thinking of swapping a b series motor into an ek but the ek has an auto tranny. so will I have any problems if I try to install a manual transmission inside?
You'll just need the pedal box (gas, brake, clutch) from an integra or civic, the clutch master cylinder, manual ECM (should be with your swap), and the clutch master to slave cylinder line.
Cuz the issue that I'm having is that the crank sensor on my B series has two wires coming out of it but the plug from my harness has three wire plug so you're saying just take the sensor off my D series and put it on the B series
You can't use the integra ls obd2b ecu because of the immobilizer. You need an obd2b to obd2a jumper harness ($35 amazon) to use the 96-98 integra ls ecu.Best option is run a obd2b to 0bd1 jumper. Then buy a socketed chipped obd1 ecu with a crv b20 base map loaded into it.Then have it dynoed and chipped again perfect. It will run ok on the ls integra ecu but it will be lean on start up and some lean spots in the rpm range.
Stauffer Garage yes there are...the c5 is usdm itr...c4 is eudm...and the b18c is jdm itr and jdm gsr...only way to tell the difference is the head casting and Vin on the motor itself and the intake as well as the top radiator hose.
I’m going with a B18C1 into 96 del sol. Anybody done this? anybody know of anything additional craziness special for del sol? Also, is anything special needed for gauges/tachometer? Like a different tachometer, do engines have different redlines and what not?
What about for the power steering I'm doing a swap and I have a d16y8 and if there someone that can help me what to do get an idea I would appreciate it!
I know I'm old but I still want to do a Jdm engine switch I need to get all the cash to make this come to my life goal its either this or a luxury built car
throttle cable on big thing u forgot
Yes you are correct thanks for adding
yes i used an itr throttle cable with my swap
Is this for every b-series swap? Sorry I’m a noob also this this go with any b series swap?
yes do a obd1 - 2 swap talk
crisJv I did it once want my advice?
Agreed
Yes

Interesting that you used the d16 radiator, mine seems to be too small for my hoses.
As far as the bungs that come out of the radiator itself
+REAMS 2 I reused the d16 clamps on the gsr hoses and it sealed great and haven't had any issues at all
Stauffer Garage I see I see. I just feel like getting a new one since my d16 overheated too many times so I figure get a fresh one

Or just screw adding the oil pump, ckf senor and new timing gear....and just do the ckf wiring bypass. It works 100% I've done it on at least 10 swap.
I noticed you swapped into a non vtec chasis civic. How did you get your iacv to work? Did you reuse your old throttle body?
In the harness I recommended it includes wiring for the IACV that you run back to the ecm
Or just use your harness and search 3 wire iacv to 2 wire online. You just depin one wire and depin and relocate one wire on your harness ecu plug.Takes 5 minutes.
Will this parts list be accurate for the 1990 ef civic si I have

If i had an ls. And say i wantes to just do a gsr swap. Would al i need be the engine, ecu, and the gsr wire harness? Or do i need pig tails also?
Engine Ecu and reuse the LS harness, you would just need to add the harness I have linked in the description box for vtec, dual intake manifold and crank sensor.
Can we passed on Smog check ? I heard that we can make swapped engine legally whenever the emissions pass the government's requirements
Yes if you retain all the charcoal canisters and swap everything over from a GSR front clip.
What change if I want to to do swap but my civic is obd2b what change if the b18c dc2 is obd2a I can do the jumper on the ecu to run obd2a or p28
I'm thinking about doing an engine swap a b series maybe b16c or b18b1 engine in my civic butts it's a 2000 civic ex Is it possible?
Is it the same with the coupe, are the engine bays different hatch vs coupe?
Nope! Even the 4doors are all the same front end :)
i have a 1999 honda civic lx d16y7 tubo, i would like to swap in a b16a sir ek9 and i would like to keep it obd2 for emissions purpose, what do you recommend. any help would be thankful.

+blix8787 I would check on honda tech if the b16 pump needs to be used or if the civic one can transfer over... I'm pretty sure it will. I didn't have power steering on my civic so I didn't have to add it, just the ac compressor
Stauffer Garage ok thank you. i will check it out to be on the sure side. in a side note i cnt wait for the new video :)
One out this week!
You use the crv bracket or the 99-00 si brackets.
Thanks
Yeah I have a obd1 gsr and have an ek as well need help asap
will look into this and try to throw a tutorial together!
I'm trying to swap my engine to a B18 I have a 2000 Honda DX what parts do I need to be able to swap my engine with a B18?
I would re listen to this video and what year is the motor?
What if it's a d14 ek series civic? know anything about wiring for a conversion in that case?
It should be pretty much the same and just add in the harness I suggested in this video for Vtec and dual runner manifold found on the GSR B18C engine
How easy is it for a del sol b16a3
I'm thinking of swapping a b series motor into an ek but the ek has an auto tranny. so will I have any problems if I try to install a manual transmission inside?
You'll just need the pedal box (gas, brake, clutch) from an integra or civic, the clutch master cylinder, manual ECM (should be with your swap), and the clutch master to slave cylinder line.
Stauffer Garage Thank you!
I have a 95 civic dx and I was wondering what gsr b18s are obd1???
like what years???
Bookie Anderson 90-95
What did you do about your crankshaft positioning sensor
You take it from the d16 and incorporate into the swap harness I mention
Cuz the issue that I'm having is that the crank sensor on my B series has two wires coming out of it but the plug from my harness has three wire plug so you're saying just take the sensor off my D series and put it on the B series
And my other question is I think it's my throttle control switch how do you wire that up
correct. The D one is 3 wires.
The TPS sensor or throttle cable? Throttle cable you need from the LS I believe. The TPS sensor should be plug and play... cant remember
I have a question could you help me please I’m doing a b20 engine on my civic ek 99 what wiring harness do I use and ecu
OBD2B would be the easiest since that is what is already in the car
You can't use the integra ls obd2b ecu because of the immobilizer. You need an obd2b to obd2a jumper harness ($35 amazon) to use the 96-98 integra ls ecu.Best option is run a obd2b to 0bd1 jumper. Then buy a socketed chipped obd1 ecu with a crv b20 base map loaded into it.Then have it dynoed and chipped again perfect. It will run ok on the ls integra ecu but it will be lean on start up and some lean spots in the rpm range.
I need some help I guess I'm doing it the hard way b18a1 into a 99 civic ex I have the 93 Acura integra the complete car that the b18 is coming out of
It should still be fairly straightforward. You are using a b series engine and might just need to get the mounts I mention to make it fit.
Got one more question the axles I've heard that the 93 axles will fit do you know?
Im not sure on that one, Id search on hondatech. I can say for sure that the 94-01 axles will fit into the civic spindles and fit.
so you got the jdm gsr and not the jdm itr?
Nope, I explained that I bought a USDM Integra GSR full car and am parting it out.
Stauffer Garage so then it would be a b18c1 and not a b18c...js
+Adan Ybanez pr a b18c5 or 4 there several versions and b18c in general covers it
Stauffer Garage yes there are...the c5 is usdm itr...c4 is eudm...and the b18c is jdm itr and jdm gsr...only way to tell the difference is the head casting and Vin on the motor itself and the intake as well as the top radiator hose.
I’m going with a B18C1 into 96 del sol. Anybody done this? anybody know of anything additional craziness special for del sol?
Also, is anything special needed for gauges/tachometer? Like a different tachometer, do engines have different redlines and what not?
Hey dude this is late but did you ever figure this out?
Same, im stuck on the rear t bracket atm
Whats the best swap for 91 acura integra
If you're lucky, you find a B17. Or, try looking into building a LSvtec.
I have a 96 b20b engine on my 99 civic ex could I use this method?
For a b18c
Yeah it should be pretty close. Only thing different I can think of is if you do or don't have vtec and the GSR intake manifold
What about for the power steering I'm doing a swap and I have a d16y8 and if there someone that can help me what to do get an idea I would appreciate it!
I’ve heard you need a em1 si p/s pump and your stock obd2 ek power steering lines
I know I'm old but I still want to do a Jdm engine switch I need to get all the cash to make this come to my life goal its either this or a luxury built car
yes do a obd1
what part of the states are you located?
Ohio
Can't you just take out the d series harness and put in the b series harness and get the right b series ecu
Does anyone know if this is the same for doing a b18 swap into an ep1 chassis?
