Charlie…I’m hooked! You are the best on UA-cam right now. Don’t change your approach; everyone has gimmicks or spinning drama but your content is high integrity and authentic! Great work my friend!!
I'm a big fan from the USA. I love watching your videos, and listening to your take on the market. It's very refreshing to listen to someone who is a reasonable sized dealer, who is up front about what things should cost, and what we should pay as a consumer. Keep up the good work!
I work in the luxury industry, admittedly not in watches, but I choose Omega over Rolex because I always buy used, I have no interest in retail, and whilst I appreciate the value in buying Rolex from an AD (if they let you) buying an Omega at 50p in the £ is far better value to me.
Disagree with the Omega comment. The co-axial movements and build are better. In another example, I bought a Seamaster 2254.50 in 2018 and it's doubled in value since then. I do agree that Rolex def holds its value much better and is obviously the more coveted watch.
If you sell a Rolex, and the buyer bring the watch and warranty card back to the SAME AD, or another branch of the head company, then they will know you sold it when they check the serial number on their database. Whether they blacklist you or not is up to them. But you have every right to sell your property.
I agree. In fact I don't think they've any right to blacklist either. The system stinks. Listen to Paul Thorpe's latest video on his channel about AD's.
Have a Sub, and got my grail Rolex from an AD I had no prior relationship.: YM Rhodium. Now she is my go to and have gotten a Mint Green DJ since. Great relationship.
Love the videos! I went to my local ad for the first time and put my name down for a rolex Datejust 41 mint green dial, smooth bezel and jubeliee bracelet and got offered it after 2 weeks. I could believe it. I love it! Keep up the videos
Charlie. I think most people that read about watches on UA-cam find you a decent and genuinely nice guy. You run a business, and it's Rolex based. You fill a gap in the market due to the over demand at ADs. Fair enough. However your comments on the quality gap between Rolex and Omega, as I am sure you now realise. Are just not right. Is Rolex more in demand - yes. Is it harder to get, with a few exceptions - yes. But side by side is it a better built watch, a better set of movements v Omega. No. We all like you. But just because there isn't money in Omega for you. You shouldn't make such unsupportable statements on the build of the watches. Thank you though for your other insights. You are a good guy. Cheers.

@@thehonestwatchdealer They appear to still trade between £10K - £20K and have fabulous engineering inside and are hand-built and finished, making them unique. Great content as ever. You’ve got your own niche here Charlie. A lot of the watch UA-camrs are semi-weirdos. Nice to hear some straight talking from up North.
To be honest a rolex is a nice watch but id say the name makes up 80% of its hype because there are other brands that make more artistic, complicated and more rare watches. Patek for one! (certain models) rolex has the simple elegance though and they have proprietary metals.
No, the history of Rolex built up the hype. They have earned their reputation through the last century. It's a shame that now it's just an investment for most buyers, as is painfully obvious when you look at this channel. It's all about profit and how to buy that most wanted models, which is only interresting if you want to make money from it. This guy has NOTHING to do with the love of watches, just the love of trading and making money.
The market is strong because there is buyer rotation, people that were positioned to buy a watch in 2020-2021 now are probably selling and others are positioned in 2023 to buy at “lower” prices
Going gray market actually makes sense to me if you don’t have a good relationship with your AD. You could be waiting years for some of the sort after watches. In the meantime, Rolex will raise their prices each year and you're also misding out on enjoying the watch that you want.
Rolex is all about marketing. I disagree that Omega and Rolex are two different levels. Both watches are very similar when it comes to built quality. Just compare the marketing budgets of these two companies, and you will understand what I am talking about.

If you're a fan of historic important classic iconic watches what are your options for , say, a steel chrono and a steel dive watch: Speedmaster £6500 from any Omega shop, Steel Daytona £25K from the grey market Seamaster £5500 at H Samuel probably, Date Sub £15K from the Honest Watch Dealer I'm sure you could give us a nice 30 minute video reviewing pros and cons of those four watches but we can agree there's not a bad one there and they will all last for decades . However the Rolex duo is costing you 40K while the Omegas are 12K . Sadly it is also possible to lose money on Rolex as anyone who's bought a Rootbeer in the last year has discovered.
Question, so let’s say someone sells a watch they bought from an AD to a grey market. The grey market dealer sells to another customer. That customer takes the watch in for a warranty repair. Won’t Rolex know that the watch has been sold by the original owner?
it’s true but if Rolex didn’t play games and just allowed people buy the watches they want to buy then this wouldn’t be a problem. Flippers serve a valuable purpose for when your AD won’t let you buy the watch you want you can pay the premium to buy it
I can understand where that gentleman is coming from with his comment "Rolex watches are boring". He probably meant that Rolex is offering pretty much the same models all the time and hardly ever make any changes in the designs. However I think they don't have to. You don't buy a Rolex for its innovations. You do because they are well made, keep their value and are instantly recognizable. I tend to dress formaly and I have a skinny wrist (6 inches and a quarter) so a 36mm Datejust with a fluted bezel is my #1 choice. I'd love a GMT Master II but it's not really dressy and too big for my wrist. The Day-Date 36mm would be great as well but too rich for my blood. Thank you for the videos
Hi Charlie, Great content as always! 😊 I’ve got a meeting booked with my AD to discuss the purchase of potentially my next Rolex timepiece. I’d really appreciate your opinion on what you’d try for? A stunning watch in your opinion that may do ok long term? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. 👍 P.S I’ve also joined the waiting list (if there is such a thing) for the new Daytona Platinum. Obviously don’t hold much hope, but I can dream I suppose.
I'm not totally convinced that the market is as good as you are saying. Obviously it DOES depend on location, and the affluence of an area, but I live in the Cheshire area, and a local pawnbroker has a Rolex Sea Dweller, for £8450 reduced from £9500, and still not selling. Totally understand that people who have a 'physical location' / shop / store, HAVE to charge more! Rent on premises is hideously expensive and staff don't work for nothing!
quick comments about the Omega boys 4:50. First of all, as a watch enthusiast I can understand why you prefer certain brands instead of the other. What people failed to see, Rolex is a different kind of luxury watches compared to the others as it will be considered as an asset. For a few reason, such as price retention, you might even gained money from having one. Now, before anybody jumped to conclusion, well the "Rolex enthusiast" is not a watch lover then, as they buy only to sell. In some ways, yes. Although, the grey market is thriving due to the brand, but you can't help but notice there are a few omega's and RM's and etc as well in the market. So basically, nobody is stopping you from buying other brands, but just so you know, Rolex can be bought as an investment as well. Hence, like in the video said, the watch is a liquid asset, in many ways you can park your money. Now if you ask me why is Rolex is the very few brands that gets treated as an asset compared to Swatch watches, we might have to do another discussion for that.
I love the omega brand, Tudor also a good brand, not fussed if I lose money, no different than buying certain car brands, you’ll lose money, love Rolex models but not all plus it’s gotten dangerous to wear a Rolex. I’m also a Hamilton fan, as for the rose with chocolate dial, over time 3-5 years that’s one watch any buyer, owner will make money on, special occasion flex watch, good buy right now but I predict next two years they’ll discontinue the rose with any colour dial, final point, buy what you like don’t buy to make money, enjoy it, come trade in time, you’ve enjoyed the watch again like car, so what if you lose money, you’ve enjoyed it and that to me is most important.
Hi Charlie 👋 Question: What are the best purchases for building a relationship with a Rolex AD in order to buy nicer Rolex watches? That is, do will they prefer that I spend on Rolex watches specifically, any watches or anything in the store? Or does it vary from one Rolex AD to another? Is it smart or stupid to simply be honest and tell the Rolex AD which watches I want to buy and ask them which products to buy to increase my chances of getting that item? Thanks!
A 10% margin seems pretty low for any business from construction to luxury goods; it’s dangerously low and has got to put a ton of stress on constantly turning over inventory faster and more than most. How did you land on this number and find that it works?
Hi Charlie How's are you? I hope you and your family have had a lovely positive weekend 😊 another great QA video, and genuine honest advice and information for the watch buying public. Have a great positive, productive week ahead, speak soon, and kind regards, Karl
Awesome video as per usual Charlie and I love the fact you give people a real insight into your day, letting everyone know that it’s not all show and you put it 12-15 hour days keep up the content RESPECT ! 🙌🏻
Big fan of your UA-cam Channel Charlie. You have ever right to make a reasonable profit. Your time and hard work should be rewarded absolutely. Charlie Omega Watches are very good quality especially their movements. More bang for your money over Rolex especially if you can get 20-40% discount. 🤔Speedmaster Moonwatch was only watch to pass all requirements for NASA Moon Landing. Saved lives for Apollo 13 Mission. Winner of NASA Snoopy Silver Award. Speedmaster Professional Co-axial Master Chronometer Chronograph movement is above Daytona🤔. Rolex granted make some very desirable watches and their marketing is best in business. Unfortunately the grey market with help of Rolex has created incredible hype and outrageous pricing on certain models.
Thank you Mike I appreciate it. Omega does have a good argument in the current market but as mentioned they are heavily outweighed with the marketing side and unfortunately the majority loose money very quickly which does put buyers off the brand long term.
@@thehonestwatchdealer Totally agree with you there Charlie. There are certain models that Omega make in their limited production or anniversary edition that appreciate from original msrp. Snoopy as example or 50 year and 60 year Speedy.
Phenomenal content - super helpful, thank you! Can you share your insights on how to decide between a 2023 sub date or no date and the Sea Dweller? I Have a 7" wrist and go back and forth wondering if the sub is too small vs. the larger/hefter SD43. This would be my go to daily wear but of course want to have long term value and low risk if I preferred another Rolex model later on.
Thank you Kevin, really appreciate it 👌🏻 So regarding Sub date or Non-Date it should all come down to your personal preference. As the Subs are the flagship model they will always be great ones to hold on to, as they are highly liquid when coming to sell. Make sure you try both on at the same time to see which you think looks and feels best when deciding between a Sea-Dweller or Submariner. 👌🏻
Bottom line...if you are an average person that has saved up and want a Rolex, a new one... your not going to get one...I travel the world, 53ADs to date, note one would sell me one. I dont want to buy on the gray market, I want one at retail.
What you should do is a comparison between the seamaster and the sub and show the viewers the difference in quality. I hold both watches ,the quality argument is bulshit.
Sounds like there's to many jealous negative people out there. Keep up the great work. Love your content. You answered a question of mine the other week about me getting a Rolex OP Bubble from my Boutique. What size would be best for re sale. 36 or 41mm. Many thanks.
Ah, the never ending comments from "EXPERTS" that don't even have a basic understanding of the immutable laws of business. I tip my hat to you Charlie, much success. And to those that say Rolex is boring fail to understand the classic evolution of the brand as opposed to the flavor of the day approach, the road to failed business models are littered with many brands that gussed wrong.
It doesn’t matter how confidential he is. Buy a Rolex from an AD, the AD records the 8 digit number and it is listed under your name. Sell to a grey market dealer, it can be tracked back to you. 100 dealers lost their franchises last year for selling to flippers. My AD took a picture of my papers. Took off all the stickers etc.
hi does the 5 year warranty transfer from one owner to another on Rolex and omega, or do lose this especially on grey watches ?? if you take a bought grey watch to service to a Rolex ad they will know straight away who flipped their watch
@@thehonestwatchdealer Feels about right, I hope it's on the lower end as I'd be tempted to buy one, but anything over 15, and frankly I'd buy a 50 Fathoms
Don't think anything wrong with omega out is Ad at lest you can get one if you go gray market for a Rolex and try sell it 6 months down the line you go and lose 2/3k that on one under 20k be even bigger loss on gold one
@@thehonestwatchdealer In Feb 2023. For 2 separate Ad's I put in for a gmt batman. And on 3 separate Ad's I put for a gmt batman, gmt sprite, gmt pepsi. One (Ad) was straight up honest, and said there is not waitlist we go by buying history. So thats why on 3 Ad's I put on multiple gmts. And I expressed to them although I have no buying history, I want to be a repeat loyal customer. I gave all 5 Ad's the whole spill on where I work, and my intentions on wearing the watch daily and handing it down to my kid as a heirloom. Side note. My strategy is not to buy from all 5 Ad's, buy to see which one calls me first. And then I will call all the other 4 Ad's and let them know I want to be taken of the waiting list.
Hi Charlie. I had actually stopped viewing all watch related YT stuff because 99% of it is clickbait and BS...you are like a breath of fresh air. May I ask a question please? You had a previous video, which you made prior to the new releases ; in that you said that the best premium for oysterflex Daytonas was the Pikachu. Now that the new releases are out, in the strict sense the Pikachu doesn't exist anymore. But do you think that the current closest thing ie YG, golden main dial and black subdials will attract a similar premium to the Pikachu? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks
4:48 saying that the market is sound is a bit vague. The market is good for certain Rolex models atm but not all. I have an oysterflex YM-42 in white gold. Gray dealers are refusing to buy it. Only one dealer offered 65% of MSRP when I asked to exchange it for an Aquanaut and pay the difference.
Enjoying the videos Charlie, sound advice and much appreciated. Had my eye on a Starbucks for a while, seems like it’s a good time to buy. Have also bought a Rolex and couple tudors so worth trying to wait for it from AD and risk it being discontinued? Or just go grey considering good buying prices now?
You forgot to mention if the watch became faulty within the first year and the new owner took it back to rolex the original owner would then be blacklisted
You don’t have to dignify the people that use the term flippers, they are just jealous, sedate unhappy people working a 9 to 5 jobs that they hate. This also happens in other markets, houses, cars, etc. people trying to give the term flippers a negative connotation. Love your channel!
Hans, the dirtbags in these types of transactions are not the flippers but the AD's that knowingly sell to the flippers. And you sound a ittle bit unhappy yourself.

Buy what you like then you are never disappointed
The 10% margin is real 👍🏻
You’re videos are fantastic and give the buyer confidence. I have now moved away from Watchfinder to you guys.
Amazing thank you 🙌🏼
Hi Charlie
How's are you? I hope you and your family have had a lovely positive weekend 😊 another great QA video, and genuine honest advice and information for the watch buying public. Have a great positive, productive week ahead, speak soon, and kind regards, Karl

Dam I love the new Green Sky-Dweller !! But I wouldn't pass up the blue . lol
Thank you Doug 👌🏻 Sure thing I will never change. Both lovely by the way looking forward to seeing the green in the flesh ! 🙌🏼
Thank you for the honest and informative content, much appreciated 👍
Thank you i appreciate it
I absolutely love your content Charlie, looking forward to your next video
Thank you Kevin I appreciate that
Why would a authorized dealer sell to a flipper as opposed to a first time or repeat customer?
Love your channel! Any chance you will be able to share your purchase/sale prices for the most popular Rolex steel models?
Awesome video as per usual Charlie and I love the fact you give people a real insight into your day, letting everyone know that it’s not all show and you put it 12-15 hour days keep up the content RESPECT ! 🙌🏻
Thank you Mark I appreciate it 👌🏻
Love your content. Could you make a video about Parmigiami watches?
Another brilliant video 📹 love your channel I've got a 2017 seadweller 50th anniversary full set bought it new what's it worth in the trade? 🤔
Thanks Clinton I appreciate it
Loving the videos. What are your thought about
sea-dwellers? Are they still worth getting for an AD?
What’s your best watch joke?😀
Thanks Gary,
Depending on the model yes !
If you buy a new Rolex from a Rolex AD then straight away sell it. Yes I hope you are found out and black listed.
Do you guys accept credit card in person?
Yes we do Jack 👍🏻
Phenomenal content - super helpful, thank you! Can you share your insights on how to decide between a 2023 sub date or no date and the Sea Dweller? I Have a 7" wrist and go back and forth wondering if the sub is too small vs. the larger/hefter SD43. This would be my go to daily wear but of course want to have long term value and low risk if I preferred another Rolex model later on.
Thank you Kevin, really appreciate it 👌🏻
So regarding Sub date or Non-Date it should all come down to your personal preference. As the Subs are the flagship model they will always be great ones to hold on to, as they are highly liquid when coming to sell.
Make sure you try both on at the same time to see which you think looks and feels best when deciding between a Sea-Dweller or Submariner. 👌🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer Thank you for your reply, keep it the great work!
@@kevinkoberg4506 not a problem mate, any time!
Another fantastic, honest & Spot on episode 🤝
Thank you I appreciate it!
Just subscribed to your channel. Great content.
Thank you so pleased you enjoy the channel
Bottom line...if you are an average person that has saved up and want a Rolex, a new one... your not going to get one...I travel the world, 53ADs to date, note one would sell me one. I dont want to buy on the gray market, I want one at retail.
I respect your perseverance but if you went grey earlier you would be in a great position financially.
Great informed videos! Well done!
Thank you
Love the video!
Thank you mate 👊🏻
Can I go to multiple AD’s and get my name in or will I get blacklisted
Yes you can Hugh 👍🏻
What you should do is a comparison between the seamaster and the sub and show the viewers the difference in quality.
I hold both watches ,the quality argument is bulshit.
hi, do u think I should get the new steel gold daytona or the discontinued 116503?
Hi, the discontinued 116503 is a very popular watch. Will be interesting to see the prices on the new model when it hits the market.
Paul Thorpes long lost brother.
Enjoyable as usual Charlie.
Thanks Simon 👌🏻
Sounds like there's to many jealous negative people out there. Keep up the great work. Love your content.
You answered a question of mine the other week about me getting a Rolex OP Bubble from my Boutique.
What size would be best for re sale. 36 or 41mm. Many thanks.
Unfortunately this is the world we live in. So pleased you enjoy our channel. 41mm 💯🚀
@@thehonestwatchdealer Many thanks for the reply. Appreciated. 41mm it is then.
Thank you Scott I appreciate that !
My new rolex watch channel 😊
Amazing 🤩
Is the blacklist truly a thing?
Yes
It doesn’t matter how confidential he is. Buy a Rolex from an AD, the AD records the 8 digit number and it is listed under your name. Sell to a grey market dealer, it can be tracked back to you. 100 dealers lost their franchises last year for selling to flippers. My AD took a picture of my papers. Took off all the stickers etc.
100 dealers didn't lose AD 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 stupidest comment
hi does the 5 year warranty transfer from one owner to another on Rolex and omega, or do lose this especially on grey watches ??
if you take a bought grey watch to service to a Rolex ad they will know straight away who flipped their watch
ROLEX IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WATCHES AM GONNA GET ONE FOR MY COLLECTION AWESOME VIDEO
Amazing thank you
If you had to guess, how much will the Titanium Yacht master hit the secondary market at?
20k is my guess.
I would say approximately £15-£20k
@@thehonestwatchdealer Feels about right, I hope it's on the lower end as I'd be tempted to buy one, but anything over 15, and frankly I'd buy a 50 Fathoms
how much today for daydate rose gold chocolate dial?
Don't think anything wrong with omega out is Ad at lest you can get one if you go gray market for a Rolex and try sell it 6 months down the line you go and lose 2/3k that on one under 20k be even bigger loss on gold one
great video as usual… thx … in May my Submariner is coming!!!
Thank you, lovely 🙌🏼
I have my name on All 5 rolex Ads from Miami to West Palm. Im I wasting my time or should I go to tge grey market?
It depends on how long you have been on the list and what model you want from the grey.
Thanks
Appreciate your comment, thank you for watching along!
It's hard to say what the premiums will be, I expect them to follow the same trend.
Charlie
Great content! 😃
Thank you Ghraham
How do I get a new platinum Daytona at 30% off retail?
4:48 saying that the market is sound is a bit vague. The market is good for certain Rolex models atm but not all. I have an oysterflex YM-42 in white gold. Gray dealers are refusing to buy it. Only one dealer offered 65% of MSRP when I asked to exchange it for an Aquanaut and pay the difference.
Sure if you watch some of my other videos you will see I have covered this model separately. Hope this helps.
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks!
Top drawer Charlie!! Can't be happy with Michael Keaton mate!! LMAO.

Should I admit to my AD that I bought my previous rolexes from eBay and Watch-finder? will they frown on that?
I wouldn’t think so 👍
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks, you're a superstar. Great channel. Great content
@@topperharley1180 not a problem mate I appreciate that! Glad you like the content 🙏
Thanks Sam, grey market prices for the Starbucks are low and a very popular and solid watch in the current market. We sell them almost straight away.
You forgot to mention if the watch became faulty within the first year and the new owner took it back to rolex the original owner would then be blacklisted
I’m sorry but quality of Omega is easily equal to Rolex. I own both.
You don’t have to dignify the people that use the term flippers, they are just jealous, sedate unhappy people working a 9 to 5 jobs that they hate. This also happens in other markets, houses, cars, etc. people trying to give the term flippers a negative connotation. Love your channel!
Thanks Hans, so pleased you enjoy the channel.
Hans, the dirtbags in these types of transactions are not the flippers but the AD's that knowingly sell to the flippers. And you sound a ittle bit unhappy yourself.
