100% agree with the comment about buying what you like, sick of the “what’s the best investment watch” comments, as for the negative comments, Charlie don’t give those comments tv time mate, question from me, I’m a Cellini fan boy, but so many hate on it, why ?
Buy what you like ! Thanks Vinnie. Unfortunately it’s a name thing, people don’t like to to have their peers think in their eyes they have a lesser watch. Nothing to do with the design or actually if they really like it. Shame really.
Steinhart can sell a Sub homage which isn’t far craftsmanship-wise from Rolex for under $500 so actually I wouldn’t be surprised if steel Sub can be knocked out for around a grand.
Did he just say it takes a year to produce a new model ? Maybe he is talking development time…. That or he is mental ! The production cost (ex marketing) is well below 1k Usd - millions of them being made 100% by machine every single year……
Great content Mate. There are certain models which have always hold value over retail (like steel Daytona’s, steel GMTs, etc…) I don’t see that ever changing, then there are the models that consistently hold value around retail (like most steel submariners), then there are the models which consistently trade below retail (many of the gold and most of the two tone). So quick flipping is only for those extremely hard to get very few models, which is the way it should be. We should buy to own, to enjoy, to wear, to pass along to our kids, not as long term investments or retirement plans. There will always be a grey market, because there will always be demand for used timepieces bellow retail and for the grail pieces to avoid long waiting lists. I was blessed to be able to acquire my 4 grail pieces at retail, and of course it 😮 was exiting to see the prices go up so much and a part of me was sad when I saw the market correction happening, but I always knew it was coming. At the end of the day, if you are holding on to watches you don’t want just hoping prices will go up again, I don’t see that happening as the pandemic is over and people are back to normal, so unless you are willing to wait for ever while holding your money in something you don’t wear. You are probably better just selling now and putting your money in a well balanced financial portfolio.
Keep giving us this type reviews and updates. I am greatly enjoying your insights and perspective and plan to tune in on futures releases…let the negative audience hate; keep doing what you do best my friend!
I think it’s inevitable that heading into a recession we will see the supply of watches increase as people sell to free up cash as well as the demand decrease due to less disposable income. We are in unprecedented times and as to whether the high end luxury watch market will be affected I guess we will have to wait and see! They do say the rich get richer during these times!
Do you see much Vacheron? I’d love to pick up an overseas blue dial dual time, they seem to be on the market at such a range of prices - some miles above and some at retail….. any opinion you could share would be useful
Simple answer to why prices will keep dropping. Something called Money Supply. It has never gone down before, till now. The everything bubble is popping. Watches will not be spared; on the contrary, they are extremely price elastic.
Agree. 'some watches have gone up' if I charted this market (which I could do) that would be a bear market rally. Nothing goes down in a straight line and take longer than most think to work there way down.
Exactly. The market is not going to go up it’s going to stay where it’s at now with Rolex. It’s went down at least 1% a month but compared to 4/6% like Ap and Patek each month
Just look at the historic price chart and you’ll see it is a good time to buy. It may go down more still … but we can’t predict the future …. Ultimately, these watches trend upwards… so either way it’ll be fine.
@@ads-porewealth96 no one but very rich will buy when times are so hard. Luxury items in general not just watches, super cars is another example, they've taken a big hit.
@fgafootball There are plenty of people out there for who times aren't actually that hard. There's a lot of money still out there, it hasn't just suddenly disappeared. Luxury watches were never aimed at those people who ran out of money by the end of the month
Subscribed for the market updates! You are the only dealer out there that is transparent and it helps a lot for watch enthusiasts to not overpay and keep both feet on the ground, plus learn a ton about the market. Thanks, looking forward to many more!
Great video Charlie. Well done for taking some of the provocative comments on the chin...there are a lot of people who have an illogical dislike of 'grey' dealers. What a lot of people don't understand is that a grey dealer doesn't necessarily make more money when the market is hot. When the market is hot the grey dealer ends up paying more money to the seller to secure the watch in the first place. As you've pointed out in past videos the seller/flipper makes most of the money, not the grey dealer. Keep up the good work.
I have a 39mm 214270 Rolex Explorer... what do you think about this discontinued watch? Hold ? I love it :). In general, how do watch values go with discontinued Rolex versions? thanks!!
What about the platinum diAmond baguette daytona - my AD offerd me one at msrp- $80.000 U.S. dollar- is this a watch best to hold for the long term.? I am not watch fan not just wanting to flip watches.
116900 AK, hold? On a list for a no-date Sub, the 116900 price was great 18 months ago but has since dropped back. If I get offered a no date this year, PX the 116900 or hold it for long term?

an enjoyable video. I agree that their is likely to be an ongoing demand for luxury watches because their is a strong base of enthusiasts who simply love watches. All collectibles markets can have their ups and downs. In Australia investors are attracted to collectibles as they are a way of making tax free capital gains. I am a long time motorcycle enthusiast and over my forty years as a motorcyclist have seen big swings in the prices of classic and vintage bikes. The long term trend is up for quality classics, because the supply is less than the demand. High quality products like prestige watches should have an upward trend over time. This is because enthusiasts drive the long term market because they love watches. Watch people seem to want to have multiple watches. All good for the future of the industry in my view. Remember, even at the height of the great depression, 67% of the population were still employed and economic activity did continue, albeit at a reduced rate. Not everyone goes broke in a recession.
Great video, spot on comments. Absolutely right only buy what you really like, but equally collectors will be buying and selling to enjoy a change, just to same as car, clothes etc.
the day when someone goes in a Rolex store and buys the watch they wanted on the spot without going through hoops is the day Rolex prices will drop, until then its all speculation and the basics of supply and demand.

We would love to open up a boutique in London but concentrating on what we have already planned this year ( which is very exciting) so watch this space 😄
It's kinda hard to stay positive with Rolex. I'm not a fan of all that "cultivating a relationship with your AD"-crap. Meaning having to spend money on models you don't want to be deemed "worthy" of buying the one you *do* want. I'm half expecting to be asked for a password or secret handshake the next time I walk into a Rolex AD. Whatever happened to "go to a store, put money on the table, go home with item you want"? Imagine you'd walk into a clothing boutique wanting to buy a pair of men's jeans - but they'd only sell you those pants if you bought two or three bras first. By contrast, the last Omega AD I talked to offered me a 20% discount on any sports-model I wanted. Problem is: As impressive as their watches are - I didn't really *want* any of them ... :D
Love your content mate (from Australia). Quick question, what’s your thought on Rolex Datejust Rhodium dial jubilee. I know blue face and Wimbledon is more sought after. Wanted your opinion on it. Thanks
Hi from the UK 👋🏻 and thanks for watching. A very sought after dial, up there with the blue and Wimbledon. The mint green is also up there but a little more sought after in the current market.
To the person that said a watch is not an asset like money is in the bank and that anything could happen it, so what about your house or car? Something could happen to them and if you went bankrupt the bank would have no problem taking them to settle your debt. Flawed logic
As much as I've love prices to drop as much as the next man, people are forgetting the insane inflation everywhere in the world right now. The UK is no exception.
Hey Charlie, Love your honesty and passing your expertise on to us. Can I ask your thoughts on the milgauss 116400GV I have a 2021 unworn I’ve got £7500 in it. Regards Keith
Money isn't safe in a bank, hence the bank run that the media isn't talking about. How much has your money gone up sitting in a bank, compared to if you had a Rolex in the past. I remember seeing the pepsi Rolex second hand 20 years ago for $3K USD. I don't think you can even get a used one for under $20K today.
You answered my question! Thanks mate! Much appreciated. How about, you’re a collector. Have bought a white Daytona at retail and your second dealer calls you to say he’s got a white Daytona for you. You’re a collector and don’t make millions, so do you buy and hold it until it’s a few years later and you’re not seen as a flipper or what?
Hi. Love your vids got a quick q. If i buy a watch from an AD and sell it, is there anyway they can find out and blacklist me? As thats what people have told me but not 100% sure?? Got a wimbledon recently which I want to sell but scared i might get blacklisted from future purchases with AD?
We all can agree the watch market has took a big hit , off the craze of an overheated market. Yes more people are getting squeezed of their disposable incomes so understandable more people are turning down calls and less flippers. But the only scenario I see whole market crashing is when Rolex & ADs let any Tom , Dick & Harry have any watch they want subs , GMTs , Daytonas you name it. As Rolex is a foundation not a public traded company, I'm sure they will do anything to protect the brand , ie maintaining the exclusively and idea of scarcity......I don't see it happening that an average joe can have any watch he/she wanted.
Rolex watches have a background value that is created by Rolex increasing prices year after year. Ten years ago if you bought a submariner bluesy gold and stainless for $5000 new - if you sold it a year later you might lose 20% but as each year passes the price for the same watch new increases and your used watch will increase in value until it is worth more than you paid new. So while the speculative instant value increase is nice - there is the background dynamic of replacement value increasing with Rolex msrp increases. The upside is you get to wear the watch year after year and eventually it will be worth more than you paid. This flipping watches is stupid and is being done by people who are not watch fans.
Love the content. Just bought a day date rose gold 40mm chocolate dial with roman numerals. What do you think will happen to value of this watch? Either way i love it!
Hi, i’m not yet your subcriber but I always watch your blogs about Rolex watches. I just wanna ask if How can I buy a Rolex watch from LWC? By the way i’m from Manila, Philippines. I’m looking forward for your swift response, Thank you
Great job Charlie. I like your questions and answers videos entertaining and informative. I believe market has stabilized not much upside or downside in my opinion 🤔
Do not buy any luxury goods until 3rd & 4th quarter 2024. Take this time to save. Be smart. Most luxury goods (toys) prices are dropping. Watches, boats, vehicles etc. Only the super rare collectibles stay strong but out of reach for 99% of population. When inferior products become desirable because of influencers, you know the industry is in trouble. You see this currently in the diamond market. Influencers trying to justify and push cheap, lab stones because they know prices are plummeting and they need to keep sales strong. The positive for the watch market is that all these RolexA/P junkies are being forced to learn about and adapt to older, finer quality pieces and independents that were not relevant years ago. As a historic watch lover who is intrigued by advancements of “time “, there are positives coming. Steer away from companies that think they are to big to fail. 3rd & 4th quarter 2024 will be a great time to buy if you are patient and have cash on hand.
So you don't respond to negative comments. The dudes question is legit. Yes there will be buyers and they will be paying way less for passion assets like watches. See it's not that tough to be honest.
Can’t call yourself the “honest” watch dealer and use a chrono24 price chart for AP based to a 2022 starting point - that is very dishonest….. rebase it to 2010 - when you walked out of AP and lost 30 odd percent !
In a real recession, the price of watches and everything drops. We haven’t had a real recession since 1991. The government keeps printing new money and bailing everyone out. In 2008, $800 billion dollars were injected into the market by Obama’s executive order. If we have a real recession or depression, watch prices will fall. Our politicians choose inflation instead of deflation. This is not good.
100% agree with the comment about buying what you like, sick of the “what’s the best investment watch” comments, as for the negative comments, Charlie don’t give those comments tv time mate, question from me, I’m a Cellini fan boy, but so many hate on it, why ?

We would love to open up a boutique in London but concentrating on what we have already planned this year ( which is very exciting) so watch this space 😄
hi, what do you think about the Starbucks? how do you think the price will develop?
Very popular watch and low priced in the current market place.
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks alot! Really helpful - will continue supporting your channel
Great channel, great attitude!
Thanks Alan glad you enjoy it
Another straight shooting episode. Loved it. Thank you 🙏🥃
Hey Charlie,
Love your honesty and passing your expertise on to us.
Can I ask your thoughts on the milgauss 116400GV I have a 2021 unworn
I’ve got £7500 in it.
Regards
Keith
Glad you like it. Nice watch, your money is safe at the current market prices.
Good Video Charlie, as I said before, buy your watch and enjoy it.they will go up over years, so a good long term investment.
Thank you Simon buy to wear ! 👍🏻
I'm waiting for the YM Rhodium next from my AD. IMO, just a stunning watch, and I'm hopeful I can get it this year
Fingers crossed! Lovely watch
Charlie great video once again 👏
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Great video.. keep them coming😅
Thank you! Will do!
Good video. Always interesting content. 👍
Thanks 👍
Money isn't safe in a bank, hence the bank run that the media isn't talking about. How much has your money gone up sitting in a bank, compared to if you had a Rolex in the past. I remember seeing the pepsi Rolex second hand 20 years ago for $3K USD. I don't think you can even get a used one for under $20K today.
Rolex are the best investment brand full stop.
Negative comments don't understand the high end watch market especially Rolex. They are on a par with precious metals
Anyone sitting on inventory is going to get hammered.
Of the Rolex market is always there why did it drop 1% again last month? Only certain watches but not the whole Rolex catalog
Hi. Love your vids got a quick q. If i buy a watch from an AD and sell it, is there anyway they can find out and blacklist me? As thats what people have told me but not 100% sure?? Got a wimbledon recently which I want to sell but scared i might get blacklisted from future purchases with AD?
Is good invest to hold a Submariner no date with out use at all until 2050?Will take some value ?
Yes 👍🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks, also the submariner steel and gold?
Have a look a the prices for a similar watch from 10years ago….then 20….. what do you think ?
Hi, i’m not yet your subcriber but I always watch your blogs about Rolex watches.
I just wanna ask if How can I buy a Rolex watch from LWC?
By the way i’m from Manila, Philippines.
I’m looking forward for your swift response,
Thank you
I hope rolex watches trade used below msrp - so that watch fans like myself can buy watches we want to own and wear.
Buy what you like, Pay what you can afford, Don't borrow money to buy, Wear it, and Enjoy!!
Well said
Great job Charlie. I like your questions and answers videos entertaining and informative. I believe market has stabilized not much upside or downside in my opinion 🤔
Thanks Mike 👍🏻
The watch market is alive
Another great video! Have you seen the ‘Watchtrader & Co UK’ channel? I love both of you guys. Would make for a great collab/cameo! 👍🏾
Thanks Chad yes I have .. you never know 😉
Charlie's face when he reads the comment comparing him to Paul Thorpe 💀💀
Rolex made a bold move buying a retail company ( Bucherer). So they can sell other brands.
Will be interesting to see what happens 👍
Buy buy buy
So you don't respond to negative comments. The dudes question is legit. Yes there will be buyers and they will be paying way less for passion assets like watches. See it's not that tough to be honest.
1mill watches a year but each one take a year to make 🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg🙈
You think they only make one at a time lol what a knob
@@Doggo-frencton not me, this so called watch pro said that rubbish
