So if on both sides the client can’t clasp their fingers is this just their normal and unless pain present it’s not a concern? I guess we are simply looking for a discrepancy between sides more than anything?
I can do it easily with the right hand (dominant) going from the top and left reaching from the bottom. I can't do it the other way around. It feels like someone is twisting my arm (how I imagine it must feel) and it hurts in the shoulder/arm area :(
Same. Are you right handed? I think it has to do with when you write your shoulder is kind of in external rotation and failing to reach up in the back means you're lacking in internal rotation strength.
Physiotutors I write with my right hand but doing most activities with left one and I have restricted motion in the right than left...this indicates problem ?
My right arm (from the bottom) hurts a lot when I do it, I still can clasps onto each other (ie palm to palm contact). But right arm just really hurts when I do it.
+daniel vafaie that can be true. It's simply used to give you an idea on functional multiaxial range of motion and not aimed at replacing proper AROM or PROM
Via Athlen X I learned the proper name for this test and found your video

So the only this we are checking for is differences between sides ?
+Hotpink Glam yeah just a very quick test to have a general Impression.
I can put my arm behind my back, but can’t reach for the area shown in the video. My scapula pokes out my back as well. Do I have a frozen shoulder.
Really advise you to get your situation evaluated individually.
We can recommend you to get in touch with our partner www.yourphysio.online.
This test is for frozen shoulder ....
+Prema Naidu we are going to publish a video on FS assessment
Physiotutors ok
hello ~ this testwhat score~ Sensitivity
Specificity ??
there is none
Why dominant part has restricted motion ?
+Ebtehal M usually due to more muscle tone
Physiotutors I write with my right hand but doing most activities with left one and I have restricted motion in the right than left...this indicates problem ?
Our body is clever and adapts to activities. So unless you have pain or any complaints, the adaption is most probably functional!
Thx~~!

this test is not a practical test for elderly or muscular patients.

Thanks for getting back to me. you guys are legends. The most accurate clinicians I've seen so far on UA-cam. keep up the good work !

Here's a good video that explains how to interpret the results of the Apley's scratch test: ua-cam.com/video/a82cyeRO9AY/v-deo.html
totally agree! many thanks!
you aint doing this if you have a muscular physique. It just simply not possible for the many
I can do it with right arm up but now with left arm up
