You ladies did an amazing job! I’m slightly partial being that Brittnee is my daughter😉 I love that it erupted just as you finished. I can’t wait to see it in person. 2 weeks remaining!
I would dare to say the volcano also approved of these two wonderul women taking Valur's place while he embarks on a well-deserved vacation, by giving its lavathumbs up ! :-)
@ Immaturity? How can you tell they are immature? They are young people learning, experiencing, enjoying life, as everybody has done while growing up, didn't you?
Impressive how the Grapevine needs three people to replace Valur now he's off on his well-deserved holiday. Naturally nothing can replace Polly. Welcome to the team Britney and Alina - looking forward to your videos. Don't worry, we're all lovely here on UA-cam!
To the young ladies covering for Valur, great job! And you nailed all of the Icelandic place names too! It's always nice to see how many people speak fluent English around the world, while here in America, so many people would not even think to be bothered to learn another language. 😐😔
@@Circlewisewoman01 that's probably true for some people, although in my experience, it's more that people don't take the time to listen to others and read what they've written. But there's a lot of us that are well read and some of us even speak a second language reasonably well. I'm not quite ready to tackle Icelandic yet, however! 😄
I really enjoyed the fresh perspectives in this episode! Also showing the walking trail up, showing the volcano from the same area with the archival footage were great inclusions. The audio quality was very good, especially given the wind. Favorite part at the end when the girls were talking about how they weren’t sure how to do the “outro“ while watching the eruption, and it kinda becomes the outro. Gold!
it is wonderful to hear them try to pronounce the islandic names. i like that they can have the casual conversation about the volcano, it is the perfect slow TV content
I would love to see the volcano in person to get my head around the scale. We were in Alaska a few years ago, and watched a shard of ice fall off a glacier into the ocean. After some seconds when the sound reached us it sounded like someone dropped a box car off a skyscraper! I then had a real appreciation of the scale of what I was seeing.
So happy for young women living their dream - Britanny and Anina/Alina? - please post their names below the video. Thank you. Looking forward to your broadcasts
Ahhh Iceland the land of dreams, and angels it seems. 😉 These ladies will do a great job in Valurs absence, and I love their bubbly presentation 🤗. I would also like it if the Grapevine would occasionally give us updates on just how deep the lava fields in each valley has become.
What a pleasure to view this and hear all about their volcano experiences! Well done! Wonderful intern experiences await you both!! Love the giggles and the smooth way they go back and forth sharing stories. Please show more before and after footage of the valleys there. We all miss Northey and Southey so much. It was so suddenly exciting back in March. I wish Valur and Polly a fantastic holiday.....only wishing that I could visit Iceland in July to go on a tour. Hopefully next year.
I see Art likes to use the speed up function! 🤣🤣 It's so foggy! By the way, I think it's great that you are willing to use your vacation time to meet people. I wish I could travel to Iceland, but can't right now. But how awesome that you are willing to give of your time!
I really appreciate that you have given these two young ladies an internship. I wish more companies would give the younger generation the opportunity to learn on the job. I have a young daughter the same age and it is extremely rare to find a company that is willing to take a recent university graduate that has little work experience. So many companies today fail to provide on the job training and expect everyone to have 5 to 10 years experience just to do entry level positions. This attitude has failed the younger generations. Kudos to you for providing these young ladies with an excellent opportunity.
I think the girls did an amazing job for their first time out. The comparison back to the very beginning was astounding. We forget so quickly just how deep the valley was and thus how much lava there really is!! Also everyone forgets about the first Volcano named Bob. The one that Valur was looking at back in March. Bob is now forever buried under all that lava!!
So interesting that Pink Jacket Girl (Brittnee?) has started saying "Jao" after such a short stay in Iceland. I catch myself trying to incorporate words and short sentences from the local language if I am on longer vacations abroad.
You gals are doing a great job. It is nice to have two people actually bouncing comments and adding information for each other. Gives a nice well-rounded informative broadcast. Both of you keep yourself safe and enjoy your adventures traveling around the world! Best wishes from Texas.! 🇺🇲
good job girls! I'm also from America, what a great opportunity you have to work there for the summer! And to get to see the volcano, wow! It's amazing how much it has changed, almost mind-boggling. It's too bad you can get on the other side to see all the action though.
The lava filling Geldinggadalir is really amazing and pretty frightening to see. Allowing you ladies to walk along the side we have all been able to see this haunting beauty. Thank you for your reporting and giving us a good look at this area. Wow|!!
Tell us how the 2 young ladies got internships in Iceland?? What a great summer gig! We hiked trail A in mid May and it was truly the trip of a lifetime.
It's always good to have a change of faces and styles of presenting. Keeps it fresh, and opportunities for others to hone their skills. Last year, there was Poppy Askham taking Valur's city reporting. This year, it's good we get to see 3 new faces on this channel and Art's superb camera work.
I remember Poppy changed the intro music when she 'took over'! And when we visited in May, we went into Reykjavik and had our first (amazing!) cinnamon bun from Brauð & Co, sitting in the square where she met Valur for a newscast! 😋
Loved seing these two young persons mostly represent this episode. Brings back memories from when I spent time in Iceland as a youth. Lovely stuff. Hvergi ertu verri Valur en gaman engu að síður 🖐
Since there is a German in the video I have the urge to enter the comments section. Also Hallo aus Deutschland an euch two girls, keep up the good work and stay safe! :)
No Valur nor Polly for four whole weeks! What are we to do without you both? Have a great summer break, warm up and thaw out somewhere beautiful and warm. I'm sure your interns will hold down the fort without worry. Have a great time, Kris.🇦🇺
I enjoy your videos so much, have a great vacation and best of luck and good wishes to the girls. Happy subscriber and follow you closely from Washington State in the USA. God bless and keep safe!
Welcome girls. I am sure you will be brilliant and have lots of fun. Love this video. I think Valurs job is under threat 🤣🤣 Have a great holiday Valur 🏝 Love from England 🇬🇧
Watching the interns walk this rocky way is astounding. That is not a trivial surface to traverse. And the camera person is hiking an even more treacherous surface to obtain this beautiful footage. Anyone who has been uncertain of what the footing is like and the reason for wearing top quality boots on this hike, pay attention.

Well done Britney and Elena. You did really well. Your pronunciation of Icelandic names is excellent. Enjoy your time off Valur.
The girls are lovely presenters and the channel is in good hands.
My "DON'T WALK ON THE LAVA"-Shirt has reached me today.
So I am well prepared for the visit of the volcano. ;o)

The girls look like sisters. They are very smart, great narrators and interface so well.
Sisters OR twins.
Thank you all for sharing your enthusiasm and appreciation for your work.
wow, the direct comparison to the beginning of the eruption is quite astonishing

I’ve heard it called “vog” in Hawaii. Shorter than volcano fog, anyway.
Unfortunately it is Volcanic smOG. 😒 I'm sure we would all prefer it WAS fog.
@@theredrover3217 Yer, when you 6-7000 ton of S02 is released every day the amount of smOG it can generate can be a real problem.
