  • We visited the volcano in Geldingadalir the same day that four new vents sprouted up in the area and it’s safe to say that the area has changed drastically. The lava is now around 10 million cubic metres in total with 5 cubic metres flowing out of those vents every second.

Wow thanks for going back and showing us the changes. It looks a lot different than the live cams, you can’t really tell the size or how far the lava has gone. It’s really amazing. I was watching the live cam when the new vents formed and that was pretty exciting! The cams are all black right now so there’s some kind of problem with the feed. Ones working but it’s all gas or fog so you can’t really see anything but I’m sure that will be fixed soon. Thanks for hiking up there to show everyone. I could have watched the new vent spewing lava in the lava stream for hours!

In the USA our news casts are scripted and “perfect”. This guy, whose name I can’t pronounce, is such a breath of fresh air. He informs without sensationalizing. He is natural, not made up with layers of makeup. When he doesn’t know, he says that. He has a Border Collie that sometimes comes on the show when it’s safe. I love this guy’s work. Wish we could have him and his camera person here in the USA.

I am glad that you are able to invest in video footage and that you are doing so. Clearly, the personnel time (and talent) is a big part of that investment. I am also sitting here thinking about the journal keeping that would support this kind of work, day, time, location, events, and so on. I know there are quite a number of people taking photos and video footage. It is quite a record. It is nice to have the passive cameras that sit and livestream the same angle and focus; but it is astounding to have the impromptu footage that captures unique moments, sometimes quite close up. Each time you show up on location, your exclamations of amazement must be quite a treat. 😃

And let me add, as I watch this again and again. I do not think there are words sufficient to describe the first 80 seconds of this video. That we are in the year 2021 with a field of possibility that includes high tech, global sharing, and supportive gestures asking "yes, push the envelope for us please" ... and the video fidelity that is pouring "through the wire" into my computer and onto its screen are blowing my mind. My first exposure to the proto Internet was back in the early 1970's on CRT's with a mainframe connection of 300 bits per second. Thank you for putting these up at 1440p.
And the sound is shaking my desk. If I knew how to do it, I would hook the sound into my surround sound room sound system and shake the whole darn house with the sub-woofer ~ alas, though the speakers can handle it, they are 1980's tech. lol 😃

Awesome drone footage, i though you sacrificed the drone by lowering it into the vent :-o

@@TheReykjavikGrapevine That's good. It seems that a lot of drones (and some cams, too) have been sacrificed to the volcano.

Thankyou. These are the best videos I’ve seen of this amazing event in terms of capturing the sights, atmosphere and definitely the sense of the scale and environment. Appreciate you not having music overlay and allow us to get a feel of what it’s like to actually be there (if only that was possible).

Great job on the drone footage and the reporter, it is so surreal it looks like CGI. I would give anything to be there right now and enjoy this show! I have been to Iceland two times already but something tells me I will be back soon! This country truly is amazing and never ceases to surprise! Keep up the great work!

Terrific footage. Best camerawork ever. Love the fact that you can just hear the lava flowing and the vents popping without some dramatic music blocking the whole thing. Best presenter and best camera work!

Truly awesome - wonderful coverage.. How "thoughtful" of the volcano to wait these hundreds of years til drone and UA-cam technology arrived so the world can enjoy - in real time.

Wow. Amazing footage, and great perspectives. Good reporting. How changed it is from the beginning little blip puffing out a bit of lava. Now you watch the lava/magma surging as it is trying to cough some more out...around the middle of the video. Fantastic footage from the drones,
