Well, the only keyboard layouts that got the CTRL position right are: - XT/AT - UNIX/Sun Type 3 - DEC LK201 (slightly worse) CTRL was fine where now there's Caps Lock
I have a problem with my fingers that when I bend my pinky, my ring finger bends with it. They are kind of fused together and I can't move one without the other moving. Which means when I move my pinky down to Ctrl, my ring finger slides off the A key so strafing left is impossible. Therefore, Ctrl is nothing and space is jump. (C is definitely crouch though) :p
I play on PC and use the arrow keys ( still trying to sourcing a good Nav-cluster / Numpad I can place to the left of the keyboard) and I now ALWAYS bind jump to the mouse wheel. 1:40 The best ergonomic keyboard ever made was actually the Datadesk SmartBoard. I will die on that hill. Alps SKCM black switches; ortholinear key layout; 1800 compact layout; tented; negative tilt; integrated wrist rest. In addition, the keycaps get wider as you move away from the home row to make things easier for your pinky. For example, the numbers 9 and 0 are slightly wider than the letters O and P, which in turn are slightly wider than K and L (which are normal sized). A consequence of that layout is that they had to reposition the = key to the top left next to the 1 key. This was the biggest adjustment I had using it, but it feels natural now. Sadly, they are no longer made, and I have yet to find anything like it. I own two of them: one that I use at the office and one that I keep as a spare in my closet at home.
There's actually BTC keyboard that's quite similar, except it has the numpad on the right module. Probably a few more too, but at leas one is lacking the split function and is the super-mediocre membrane one instead of the pretty decent conductive rubber dome model.
