They didn't go extinct, inflation just shifted the scale on what we deem "affordable". 20 years ago, the equivalent "affordable" truck would've been about $30k-$32k. That's for something like a Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab 4x4. If you adjust that for inflation, that's about $49k-$53k in today's cash. So, this, which is just under $50k, is right inline with prices from 20 years ago.
I love having a full sized pickup. It's convenient and I just feel safer in it but it's insane with the prices of them these days. People can't afford thm anymore
Chevy has priced the 2025 Silverado 2WT MSRP at $57k then subtract the $7500 credit off the MSRP and the OTD price is on par with this WT. IMO this basic WT is on life support, the newer Silverado generation 2WT trim level out performs and tows more and hauls more and is cheaper to operate. The Silverado 2WT only comes in a full crew cab and has a six foot bed and is 4 wheel drive full time.
They are a little hard to find on the dealer lots with the g80 rear locking differential and all terrain tires. They are a truck that would work well with a camper, especially with 1900 lbs of payload. I like the Chevy trucks, especially with the specials that they offer sometimes.
I just put $1200 in my 2016 Chevy Traverse for what is basically its 100,000 mile service. Either do that or buy another one for fifty times that. No brainer for me.
50 grand yikes. I'll stick with my Maverick or get a used 2024 Silverado from Carmax. A red one caught my eye for 40 grand and only 1,000 miles. Great review but are has that much changed in the 2025's compared to the 2024's? I'm still seeing that small display screen. 😢 I mean even the Maverick screen is larger for 2025.
pickups have stayed the same price its just inflation for example in 2002 a $20,000 truck would cost now about 36,000k and now the cheapest chevy base model truck you can get can get right now is 38k [BOTH TRUCKS ARE A SILVERADO 1500]
Covid was the main reason, to be honest. The auto companies used chip shortage as a crutch to jack up the rates on suvs and trucks. Before the inflation started around Covid, you lease a well equipped truck for $600/month no down payment if you had decent credit. That same truck today is over $800/month plus the down payments. These days you need employee discount, $3,000 down payment and somehow come up with $650+ monthly payment.
Do you realize too that Biden/Kamala gave Israel 30 days to withhold aid to gaza else israel wont get military aid. 30 days to starve people so that they leave their homes. WW3 is on the horizon and this guy is talking about vote Trump.
Trucks in general are not affordable. This is no exception. Thanks for the info and your review.
If I was looking for a truck I’d totally go with a custom. Has everything you could need.
Nice review. I like how you review the full spectrum of trim levels. Choose wisely folks.
@3:28 YAY! Analog gauges and a lack of technology crap. This is much appreciated. Still need to locate the SIM card and take it out though.

@down_yonder Don't vote.
@down_yonder Straight from the Kamala campaign website.
Good working truck for a Chevrolet
Nice truck, I'll definitely look into buying one.

2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom 2.7L Turbo TurboMax 4-Cylinder 8-Speed Automatic Double Cab 4X4!
I just bought a 2024 colorado LT. I like it, but I was wondering if I should have bought a silverado 1500 custom instead.
In Southern California, you can get this Custom for around $45K brand new. Maybe less
There’s one here in Ohio for $40k list price

Please fold up back seats so we can see what storage exists underneath if any. important in trucks especially. thanks
they are pricing themselves out of business , whats attractive about a 50k truck with nothing in it and that turbo crap to boot, no thanks
Nobody is paying sticker for the Custom. You can find them in my area for $7-$10K under sticker.
It's not "nothing". This truck has more features than top level trucks from just a few decades ago.
I bought a 2024 Trail Boss Custom. MSRP was $52k. I paid 39k OTD. There are deals to be had. For what i paid im happy
It may say 49k but most dealers will mark it down!
Especially on a 24 this time of year. 5k off or don’t even consider it
Isn't WT the entry level package?

Truck prices these days are out of control.

That base model doesn't even look like a normal Silverado. Cheap bastards at GM should of given the safety of LED lights all around on all vehicles.
That's not even the entry level, there's one lower than that. The Silverado WT
Pickup truck manufacturers need to rediscover affordability if they expect to keep selling trucks. Most buyers are tapped out and it's getting worse.

Better off buying a used loaded V8 half ton for the same price.
FYI, in 2024, these engines come with a 100k mile powertrain warranty.
Solid offering? You get a bare bone 2014 interior, halogen lights and 4 cylinder for almost 50k. What a bargain! LOL
This is too the guy yesterday his truck for 45000.00 THIS IS YOUR TRUCK IF YOU BUY AT BALOW IN NJ. 45000.00 IT IS.😊😊
Can you test drive that zl1 1le??? 😂😂
Good luck putting over 100k miles on that junky, torqued up small motor.
For what it’s worth the engine internals are over built like a diesel.
Shouldn’t be a nickel over 32k. But we are in a gouge economy.
I’d say 35k maximum
My 2024 crew cab trail boss cost less than this
because auto makers got greedy...that's why...
Is GM still being cheap bastards by only have one tiny incandescent bulb for the third high mount brake light on 2010s trucks?
When did Ben get that homeless look? Lol just kidding good video!
Ghetty adventures mpg test showed fords engine doing better in the city but worse on the highway and worse overall.
The gray do ugly 🎉😂 he used to be the chip the cheapest paint used for farmers equipment
Lost me at 4 cylinder
More torque than the 5.3 v8 at a lower rpm
They went extinct cause a bunch of dude bros showed these companies that they can charge over 50k for a work truck and get away with it.

4 cyl turbo lol
