@GreenLightGaming, I had that problem to with my heelflips what helped me is to train with a rail where you can put your hands on than you can push your body much higher so you get more air time to land. Do that a couple times and try then in normal
I really can't thank you enough. I've been mastering 540 shuvits and 360's, big spins, and all the stuff that doesn't involve flipping my board cause I just haven't been able to. I've been trying kickflips for like 2 years. I watched this video very closely and I got them last night and I couldn't be more stoked.
***** Just keep at it and you'll get it in no time dude. Skateboarding is all about familiarization. Just do em over and over and over again and you'll feel good about them, guaranteed.
dude, your lessons are way better interpreted and described than braille skateboarding, you also give solutions wich is awesome, i honestly thought i had to initiate the flick, this helped me get past that woohoo thanks homie
You should, start by going over to braille and seeing all that you can redo in your own way, I'm not kidding, you already do the same thing but better and he's a certified pro, you could def get better results for people! No doubt I'll share every video. Google pays good money for useful videos too, you'd make buck if you get recognition.
Husky Ruski I find that this guy gives more detail and teaches better, but initiating the flip works for me on a wider deck because it flips it faster, it also helps with double flips because of the faster flip, but I'd definitely say that for learning to begin with the slower flip is better because it helps with learning to catch the board.
It's actually the most important tip to take away from his video. He's definitely right that half a flip, but landing on the board already with two feet is 99% closer to landing a kick flip than landing with one foot on, but with almost inevitably creating a bad habit that needs to be unlearned later on. I've noticed I can already land with one foot, either front or back foot, but I am having incredible issues getting a front foot flick in such a way that I can remain above the board. The issue is, I can retract both my legs all I want, I'm not getting closer to landing it when my back foot is already on the ground by the time my front foot is dragging up the board. And the other way around, stepping of with my front foot almost guarantees I'm flicking down, which is pointless. Maybe it would work if I'd very deliberately land with only the back foot in like a 'single foot' landing and try to keep my front foot up past the nose or something. But I guess what I'm saying is that unlearning those bad habits is pretty difficult.
Honestly, he seems more accurate on explaining the kick flip than Aaron indeed. Especially with the half kick flip tip being much much closer to landing a kick flip than the whole 'one foot landing' stuff.
Hi this is Aaron kyro I am a sponsored proffesional skateboarder from the San Francisco Bay Area I’m going to be teaching you how to kickflip when you kickflip you need to flick the board and land back on it thanks for watching did you know I’m a sponsored skater from the San Francisco Bay Area
honestly you should remake this video just for better quality, I've watched many, many... kick flip videos over the years and your is actually the most in depth! top man thank you!
The great part about this video is it aged amazingly well, contrary to the Braille SMS videos that were recorded with such a lighting that creates way too much of a silhouette effect, making it literally hard to see what's going on. The fact he has slow motion footage too makes it even better. In terms of 'other kickflip videos', this one from slowmomike is easily the best available. I'm not so sure the Braille videos are all that good anyway (mind you, the ones they sell, not the free more recent ones and the hundreds of 'skate support' videos that do have their value for the most part), because slowmomike is correct about how a half flip is way more useful and meaningful. Depending on how much of an ollie you do, you can definitely get more of a half flip going that will train your feet you stay above the board or come back around again.
Dude I can’t thank you enough. I was stuck with either landing the back foot on the board and not the front foot and vice versa. You’re trick about doing the half kick flips helped a lot. I was able to land them a day later and it felt fucking amazing. Love you man ❤️
been trying to kickflip for over a year, i watched this video about 5 months ago to try and get the board right underneath me after trying for months, i managed to do that the next day. Last night i went back to this video because i have been trying to land with both feet on the board since then, i landed it about 10 mins into practicing today. must have watched a thousand videos on "how to kickflip" and this is the only video that has properly helped. thanks so much for taking the time to make this man, if not i would still be where i was
@@phire5499 try to get the flick down first, even if you land next to your board or whatever. When you have the flick down just suckinh your legs up is the final step to do after the flick. Just focus on putting your feet to the inside again and maybe suck them up a little bit for your feeling. It really helped me to start focussing on the sucking up your legs after getting the flick perfectly down so your muscles to that automatically
Thank u soooooooooo much!!!! Every video I've watched hasn't shown as many tips. Because of the 1/2 flip, I figured out how to stick the kick flip. Thanks again!!!
If anyone else has this problem try getting a piece of plywood and put it in a patch of grass and do it like that, so if you fall it’s just grass; helps with confidence
I started practicing kickflips a couple days ago and this is very helpful. I pretty much did everything wrong :D. But at least I got the flip down. Ill try the half flip thing. Thanks for the helpful tips.
Thanks man i've been having many problems with the weight distribution issue, I actually didn't even know my center of gravity/weight was the reason. Now my successful kickflips number is skyrocketing :)

I want to thank you for this advice because for a year I've been trying to get my kickflips consistent, I would land 3 out of 10 trys and then I took notice to my weight distribution and keeping my shoulders straight and now I can land my kickflips almost everytime. Thanks man you're rad
Hey mike, I need help with my kickflips. When I flick, I flick the board away from me and it shoots out in front of me and I land it with only my front foot. I do however get my back foot above the board. I have landed a couple of good kickflips before, but when I do land it I have Major tail tap. I have been doing kickflips for awhile now and it is very frustrating!!! Please help, thank you
Two tips that helped me a lot: - Only back foot landing or only front foot landing: look to your front foot when you do the trick or look to your backfoot (depending if you land BF or FF). I don't know why but it works and adjust the whole thing. I guess it changes your balance. - Chicken foot (i.e. when one of your foot hit the ground before anything else): try do the kickflip holding on something. It really helped me a lot to get rid of this bad habit. Slomomike your videos helped me a lot! Thanks man!
Omg I can't thank you enough, I have been practicing constantly for 2 days because only one foot landed and your first tip made me land almost every time vs none THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you so much man, i've been trying to kickflip for more than a year, i've watched just about every video on youtube with no luck. but not 5 minutes after watching this i land them every try.
Try doing a kickflip 180 lol that happed to me but with ollies so i tried a backside and i landed it quick but than i stopped skate boarding so i suck now
I have been doing my kick flips for 2 months without landing my front foot, so it feels impossible to try to land it on the board, when i try and keep it above the board it doesnt flick, Im going to go try to do the half kickflips to see if that works because i really want to learn them soon
This actually really helped me and im able to do them again. Used to skate a while ago and was good but it ain't like riding a bike. The problem was that weight distribution... I found that I was leaning backward. Thanks!
You just need to make sure that your body (upper body and lower body) do NOT twist during the kickflip. Keep your body straight at all times. A way to practice this is try to do 1/2 kickflip and land those *perfectly* straight. Once you feel comfortable with perfectly straight 1/2 kickflip, try the full kickflip. You should see some more success that way. Let me know how that goes for you.
Just tried doing some on grass and can land them perfectly! my pavement ones need a bit more work to just commit but other than that there fine now! thanks!

Thanks so much for the half kickflip technique. i had been doing kickflips with my front foot coming off the board for months and it REALLY irritated me, but after using the half flip i had it down within a few days. Thanks so much man
so, my board goes flying forwards, and i twist my body so if it fully rotated under me, i wouldnt land it because my feet would be on the side, my foot position is good, but it never lands under me, it always fully rotates min the air and lands on the wheels but its always in front of me and it never actually lands underneath me, i need help. ive been working on my kickflips for about 4 1/4 months now, any tips please?? idk if the problem is me leaning back to much or if its not because i lift my foot up high enough or if im just pushing it out to far..
