OnePlus 13 - Really The New Best Affordable Flagship?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- OnePlus 13 is this the new best affordable flagship going into 2025? My first impressions and some issues spotted that need to be addressed for the global version. I bought this OP13 here: tradingshenzhe... (affiliate link)
Affordable is a strong word. More like, more affordable compared to the other not affordable smartphones 😂
It's an affordable flagship, flagships are expensive xd
Agreed FLAG SHIP PHONE Affordable is between 699$-900$
Not affordable are strong words
Yeah, affordable does not necessarily mean cheap. It just better priced in its category. Lol
@@J2BGaming650nah affordable is $349-$599
I remember when "affordable" meant $300-400 not so long ago..
Something being affordable is objective
Something something flagship something something
Sounds like a 'You' problem.

I earn 4 times the money as of the ages youre talking about. Get gud
Happy to see your coverage on this Chris! Happy owner of OP12 here, and i think that 13 is a good step on the right direction
Op12 is already great
Im also another happy owner of OP12. Its great
12 had wifi connection issues
@@INSANEFAME Never faced such issues
@@INSANEFAME i can say sometimes wifi can be slow but i use mainly data for faster speeds
Honestly, after years of using phones the OnePlus 13 is the best smartphone I've ever had. It's super smooth. Comfortable to hold due to slightly rolled off edges. Best screen I've saw. Great haptics, great camera. Awesome sound from speakers, and highly customisable. Also super fast charging and seriously long battery life. A steal of a phone for the money.
How much did you pay for it? Where are you from? The UK? Has the phone released there?
Can you smoothly use the OP 13 bought in China abroad after replacing the Chinese sim card?
Can you please tell if the high 2160 HZ PWM display of one plus 13 has made any difference to your eye comfort for long time viewing. I am finding it very uneasy to read on my s23 ultra as my eyes start hurting, maybe due to low 240hz PWM.
@@nuthanprasad3687Even my old OnePlus 7T Pro has a better PWM, than the S23 Ultra. Don't even compare Samsung sh*t to OnePlus
Best phone you've ever had? So that's not a great point is it, all you've confirmed is you've not had any market leading phones, you buy the best of the best because you want the best overall experience? Video and camera's are not on parr with 2024 or possibly 2023 phones and this phone is a 2025?
It's great to see that you're over 500k subscribers. You deserve so many more. Thanks for all of your great coverage and reviews, Chris.
Thank you so much!
@@Techtablets Wonderful review. Can you please tell if the high 2160 HZ PWM display of one plus 13 has made any difference to your eye comfort for long time viewing. I am finding it very uneasy to read on my s23 ultra as my eyes start hurting, maybe due to low 240hz PWM.
The last OnePlus device that came with a Type-C to Type-C cable was the 8T, and I am still using the cable to charge my MacBook and Galaxy phone. Good old OnePlus days.
Same
My Oneplus 9 pro also came with a USB-C to C charger
My OnePlus 10T came with a C to C cable as well
Yes! Bro, I'm STILL using that cable on my S22.
This is not true at all.
Been waiting for your vid on OnePlus 13 ever since it was announced in China! Love this as usual, very well done!!
Awesome video! I just pulled the trigger to buy the black OnePlus 13 512GB/16GB variant.
How is it?
$50 deposit
Black? Is that a good choice considering midnight ocean??
having an f1.6 aperture makes it really bright, I think this could be amazing for night photography.
Lol Motorola has f1.4 too 😅 not defending Motorola cos they're pretty crap at software, but f1.6 isn't that special...
@HughesyTech but how big is the sensor though? putting in a big sensor plus an F 1.6 aperture is going to be really bright.
@@BLAKEEATS1988 it's not a big sensor though. 1/1.4" is pretty average
@@eduard6450 combining it with F 1.6, no variable aperture and new software, it's very hard to control light not coming in.
@@BLAKEEATS1988 why would it be hard to control the light coming in, fast shutter speed helps with that.
In fact, the reason that OnePlus uses type A outputs with their chargers is cost. They Mass manufacture they're smart super vooc chargers so, they can include them in the box. Universal cereal bus charges less for the older type a technology. Conversely, universal cereal bus charges far more for the modern type C. Since they are mass-producing them, they have to do so as cheaply as possible. Otherwise, it wouldn't be cost efficient for OnePlus to include the charger in the box.
Many thanks Chris. I bought the One Plus 12 after seeing your review and I'm super happy.
That's good to know
My 1+ 11 is my first 1+ product and got it new for $499 will never buy another phone company if they keep going in this direction thank you for the content
I am SO waiting for the Oppo Find X8 and the Xiaomi 15 reviews
me too, also vivo200
@C4rdn add the nubia redmagic 10 pro for me. Chinese manufacturers releasing bangers
It is not a factory sealed box because the sellers network unlock the device and they install the Google play store. NOT because they have to do some "quality assurance" check.
Looks good I'll be waiting till the 1 + 13 global variant shows up.
Was thinking the same
Same thought here, -still no official date for the Global/US release.-
Edit: Correction, from online news reports, the release date will be Jan. 2025.
Thanks for another quality video. I'd love to hear your opinion on how the OP13's camera compares to the S23U, especially for capturing fast moving subjects (kids, pets) accurately and in focus. Unf the S23U after almost 2 years and several software updates, it's still hit or miss.
THEREE IT ISSSS, can't wait to see how this video goes! Love your reviews
OnePlus stays loyal to its motto "Never Settle". Also good prices. This company really deserves all the succes.
unsure about the white ^^
I think the oneplus 12 looks better (even more so in green!)
Glad you got it in, curious about your findings.
I was really glad they dropped the shiny bit near the camera lens for the 13.
If OnePlus would JUST put N71 on this version I would have the white one with 24 RAM and 1 TB of storage! However, I am compelled to wait for the US/North America release and whatever capacity version they provide. Why China gets the best and we just get the rest is beyond me! For reference... N71 has of recent times become truly necessary for anyone using T-Mobile, or an MVNO that uses their towers! Just a heads up for those who are unaware! Flashing the Oxygen OS ROM does not give you N71! YMMV
I LOVE this design. It hasn't come around for years on a flagship, to my knowledge. The screen is flat, but the bezels are all slightly curved, rather than having a sharp edge like every other phone. They even made the back match with the same curvature. I didn't like the metal along the back in the 12 and they removed it. That fixes all my design gripes. If this comes out in the US in January I will strongly consider it.
gah dang chris, your videos have so much detail, really high bitrate or something ig? whatever the case, a joy to watch!
Pretty decent overall. Hope it's an indication of how good the Open 2 will be next year, I'm waiting for that.
Oppo and Oneplus have really nice haptics, when I upgraded from my Find X3 Pro to my S23U I could really feel the pain of the inferior haptics on my Samsung
Very good nice strong short pulses how it should feel not that weak Samsung style
Great review as always mate. Please can you rate the top 5 phones with the best sounding speakers. Quality, bass and loudness. That is one area I care about the most. Thank you and keep on the great work👍
Thank you for the review Chris! Can you do a camera comparision with the OP12?
Great unboxing and first impression keep it up as always Chris Sir
On point review! Thanks for this. 13 is going to be a king I believe. Complete handset like it happened with the 12.
I absolutely love my OP12R. The new software update is so refreshing and i cant wait to purchase my OP13
Waiting for that camera Comparison videos 😊
Finally, been waitin for this! Thx Chris
only thing that bothers me a bit is the off-centred camera modules at the rear. Otherwise, it's a handsome smartphone.
The design does look better in the other 2 colors where it's easier to catch a glimpse of the Hasselblad logo. Though the white one looks very premium in it's defense.
It does look bad. It should've been centered.
Nah. Making it centered will make it look like rest of the chinese phones like xiaomi, oppo, honor, vivo etc
@@Metalknight-n7i It's not about making it look like the rest. It's about making it look right.
It looks better then on videos and photos.
Like said it would look like every other phone if they centered it more. Hopefully they change it next year but I doubt.
It's still really premium and the smooth frozen back glass is amazing.
You're so fast. Thanks for the review, I was really curious to see it
Nice review, as always.
I use to like OnePlus and I still have some appreciation for them but I don't like Color OS. Hardware wise, it's looking great.
Still, I'll wait until the Galaxy S25 series announcement before even considering a new phone since I quite like the S24U. This year, I might save myself over 1k 😂
Only the chinese version has colorOS, the international one will use Oxygen
Haha well I might buy the OnePlus 12 in March when it's my birthday. Drop drop drop. But I love the China phones which are released now!! 😮
Yes you still talk about haptics!!😍 Alot of UA-camrs forget it....😅
Love your video's Mr Techtablets 🎉🎉
If you need some tips for bali Chris let me know 😂
Great flaghsip cant wait for a full review
Which one has a better camera quality between this Oneplus 13 and Xiaomi 14T Pro, regardless of the price? Thanks in advance!
This dude been grinding on youtube for yearrrs!!
Is it worthwhile to upgrade from OnePlus 11 to 13?
Please do speedometer 3.0 benchmark, rarely anyone tested it
LOOOOVE my 12. As I loved my One, 3T, and 5T before it. They went thru some growing pains for awhile...But after the 10/11...They are back IMO.
We want camera comparison 😃
Working on it but ran into an issue with my video editor not liking the OnePlus video codec they used. I'm trying to fix this 😭
I have bough 3 phones in the last 7 years and I have made a final call after watching this guy.
Glad to help!
I'm disappointed that the screen isn't completely flat. I don't want any curve. This is making me second guess whether I want to get it or just get the boring, but beastly S24 Ultra with it's perfectly flat screen.
@CharlieMander843 yeah but I've been hearing. I'm still using my S21 Ultra. I haven't found anything that I'm willing to upgrade for yet.
Just put your screen protector on the flat portion
I have an S24 Ultra... But I'm using my good old OnePlus 7T Pro, cause I don't like that flat screen.
@@CharlieMander843Agree. I'm very disappointed with the S24 Ultra. It works literally worse, than 5 years old OnePlus.
Will it gonna hit the global market!?
I can't wait for this to come out in the US
Screen guard will be flat or curved for this type of display??
flat
With hint of curved
Every tech review that's presenting a global/international phone should include which carriers are compatible with the it. For example, the US doesn't typically get other phone manufacturers other than the typical Apple, Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus and Google Pixel. As a consumer, I want to make sure if I were to buy a global/international phone it'll work for my selected wireless service carriers. Not everyone is tech savvy and knows which bands work on what wireless service.
Great video, Chris! 5G with which network? Cheers
Just got the 12 after not getting on with the Xiaomi 14 ultra. Now the 13 is teasing me
Please make a detailed review of OP 13 vs Vivo X200 pro.
Eagerly waiting for flash rom tutorials for this phone, will it lose the global unlock for the Chinese version?
Looking forward to the full review ❤
Will you be reviewing the Oppo find x8 and Xiaomi 15? Would love a comparison I want a good all round phone right now
Main thing that interests me with this phone is the battery with chip efficiency.
Interesting preview. Curious to see what the global version will bring (fixes) to the phone. Will the camera department be in par with Vivo X200 Pro? 😎 BTW 6,000mAh is huge and it charges so fast!
The phone is very good, I sold my s24 ultra because it gave me a lot of problems, nothing to do with the previous models, the s20 that I had and which I returned to works better. Another reason for the sale was to buy this one when it comes out
OnePlus has one of the best, if not the best battery backup of all smartphones.
Really? What problems did it have?
@@snowps1 He had too much money :D
Great review. Very clean and professional. :)
Thank you 😊🙏
I have the Realme 12 Pro+ and it looks very similar. I am very happy with it. The OnePlus devices are indeed great.
Please compare the camera against the OP12
Great to see the phone is working post 3G closure. Ill nave to grab one!
I hope you'll check out the Xiaomi 15 Pro soon
Whats better sir! This or the iqoo 13
I am actually really excited about this phone. I think that I am going to buy it for sure.
Wow super fast. Im still rocking my $299 oneplus 11 china variant flashed with india global rom and dont feel like I need to upgrade though.
I am still super happy with my OnePlus 10T but I am very pleased to hear OnePlus is still going strong in an upward trend with the new releases. My next phone definitely will be OnePlus again if they can hold good value for money.
how is the camera on that one
in doors at home
It's good but if contemplating getting it check reviews for it. Im going to get this 13 on global I have 10t@@elitara77
Is tmobile a safe bet?
reverse charging is indeed rarely useful but it will save you if you need it. i had charged some iphones a couple of times
I still have my oneplus8t im looking to upgrade but dont know what direction to go i mainly watch videos and streams what do u suggest?
i got oneplus 12, great phone, beautuful screen color, good battery life, and my most favorite feature is super fast charger
What do you think is gonna be price from global model? OP12 started at 950 €.
Phone was 50€ more expensive in import so I guess 1000€ but we need to wait.
@@ryanlunzen9794For 1000$ I'd rather get another 300$ and buy a Samsung.
Should I be worried about 5G in my country (Portugal) if I buy it from trading schenzen?
No it should work but check the bands with your carrier
@@Techtablets thanks, great video btw
Lens flare issue? That sounds like something related to the glass which cannot be resolved?
Where are you getting the 9400 benchmark numbers? They are starting to be thousands of benchmarks on both the 9400 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite and it's clear that while the 9400 performs decent the only place on 9400 outperforms it is on the GPU side . The stability of the 9400 is also only about 56% while the stability of the Snapdragon 8 Elite is closer to 70%.. also the Snapdragon 8 Elite Performance numbers are about 10 to 14% higher other than the GPU performance numbers. Maybe devices are getting updates because from what I can tell the Snapdragon Elite is proving itself to be absolutely amazing.. especially considering how efficient they are with battery
Don't forget that the 9400 is known to thermal throttle more than the SD8Elite
Are the speakers good? I have a oneplus 10 pro and want to upgrade. But the speakers on this phone are really bad
Where did you get that wallpaper from? Id like to add it to my oneplus 12
can you do a comparison between Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 13 global versions when they come out?
Is the Global ROM available yet? Thought about getting this and flashing but I'd still be missing out on the US network bands I'd need.
Will it work in Australia please? My friend's Sony Stopped working after they turned of the 3G Network 😢😢😢
You can use international sim though but it'll be expensive
@ViralEnter10ment I Bought Oneplus 13 while I was in Hong Kong in November and Paid more for an Unlocked service to get it unlocked .. working in Sydney So Far
you uploaded this 3 weeks ago i see but it's not available over here in holland.
why is that?
No problems here in the Netherlands 😮
Chris!! Will you be reviewing Find X8 ? Not the Pro one
Yes both in a review/comparison video coming real soon!
@Techtablets Thanks man, Looking forward to it
Lens glare in my OP Open is my biggest pet peeve. Im waiting on Nubia Z70 Ultra. I dont take selfies so i think that my end up as the best budget phone
he's the best review on YT, not SEEDER 100%-> Love him
Finally,it only took smartphone's brand 10 years to start using ultrasonic on their flagship (Except for samsung which already use it on their flagship since 2019, also they never use optical on their flagship, kudos samsung)
Do you get the EU-Charger when you buy say like the Oneplus 12 (with OxygenOS) fom Trading Shenzhen?
What about the power efficiency of the new Snapdragon in combination of the new battery? Do we get more Screen-on-time than 6 hours?
I have the 13, more like 10+ hrs

Really deciding between the OP12/13, Pixel 9Pro or Samsung S24
Coming back to Android from an Iphone 14 pro. I gladly take reccomendations!
OnePlus 13 would be my pick of those!
@@Techtablets My only worrie is, that it was available in europe, then wasn´t, then was, then wasn´t and now is again you konw :D ?
@@Techtablets One more question: What about the Sony 1 VI?
So can I see the screen while I'm outside in regular sunlight? That matters, a lot!
the macro mode isn't supposed to be like 5 cm close to the object?
I currently have the OnePlus Nord 3, the ultra/wide and macro cameras are a joke, same as low-light photos, but otherwise is the phone all right. Thanks to the IR port I can use it as a remote for all devices I have at home. The alert slider became a deal breaker when thinking about a phone upgrade. I'm using it so much I don't want to lose it in future phones }but then again, the same it was with LED notifications, still don't understand why they aren't around anymore, much better than idiotic battery consuming AOD). Waiting for the OnePlus 13 now to be officially released and hope it will stay quite some time with me. I know there are better cameras and whatnot in other phones, but alert slider only is on OnePlus/Oppo.
Thanks for the review!
A 2025 phone still coming with the thickness of 8.9? It's better to make it a little bit wider to slim down the thickness
no its not. thickness doesnt matter much. but wider?? you want a phone that you can only use with 1 hand or what lol
So upgrade from op12 to op13 is that a yes or a no?
Maybe.
I dont know.
Can you repeat the question?
That camera module looks like an induction stove cook top 😅😅
it does! 😅
@Techtablets Great minds thinks alike! 😁& Chris, do you guys face greenline issues on OnePlus devices out there in your part of the world ??
Do you think Honor Magic 7 Pro is better than this ?
I think it might yes. Apart from that zoom camera looks disappointing
Better in terms of screen display quality/experience as well?
This or the IQOO 13? Just pure performance. Pretty sure they're the same but optimization might make the difference.
I'll have a review of the IQOO 13 soon in the channel.
I am waiting for your camera comparison oneplus 13 vs magic 7 pro
Does this model work with 5G in Australia?
is there any information if the color OS can be upgraded to Oxygen OS??
