That RYYB sensor isn't a gimmick, the low light performance was crazy on these phones, kinda sucks they dropped it now because it was leading to issues with color accuracy
I feel like modern phones could handle dslr level lenses now so instead of 5 cameras, one big lense that could do portrait as well as low light would be more reasonable not forgetting the hardware aesthetic. 😉
Xiaomi doesn't make phones, they make e-waste. Also, they are giving their name to other companies that are making trash products. Which is just more e-waste. They are lacking innovation and are simply reproducing existing designs.

I also thought about LG. Recently I showed a mix of my best photos over the years to a friend in a non chronological order. He kept guessing the newer iPhone ones correctly, but kept saying “That’s DSLR” on photos that I took 9 years ago on my LG G3. These brands just used to nail it with some of their models. Players that pushed the others to work harder for their money. But one died due to poor marketing choices, the other due to political assassination. Sad.

Watching from my Huawei P30 PRO. My P30 just wont get old. Since 2019. It's like a future proofed phone. In a way, it's still my dream phone. Maybe I'll switch to Apple 15 or 16 next year for newer functions cam and Apple AI features, but this phone has been able to serve me daily to the best and for work with everything I needed. The speed, camera, battery, even after 100 falls it never broke- can't find a thing to complain about. Thank you Huawei is all I can say. Thank you!!!
Huawei phones were so good before the ban. In fact my sister is still using her mate 20 pro 6 years on from release and apart from a cracked screen its still perfectly fine. The battery isn't as good as it was back then anymore (i used to get 3 days from it but now its more like half) but it holds up still with the performance and cameras. She takes a LOT of photos and everyone she sends them to always says how good they look which is high praise for a 6 year old phone
Huawei was just so ahead of their time that it could have easily become the best smartphone brand, had there been no ban. And even after the ban they still managed to hold up and even released the world's first tri-fold

One of the best built quality phones. It was still going strong until I cracked the screen 6 months ago and the replacement was too expensive and had to retire it.

I had the Huawei P10 and I absolutely loved it. It was fast. Ui was smooth. Charges way faster than the competition before and the cameras. I really loved taking pictures on it.
I am still using this device, I'm not sure what it is. But I still love it, even though the camera starting to show its age. But that waterfall display nothing can win me over that

I still very destinctly remember that at one point, Huawei was more popular than apple here in Germany. The Galaxy S4 and Huawei P6 were some of the most popular phones at the time and pretty much no-one had an iPhone.
My Ex Girlfriend had it , she was techie enough to sideload gapps on it on her own but unfortunately reckless enough to break the phone (& the relationship)

Vivo lets you change the shape of the bokeh. You can kinda do it with Xiaomi too if you use certain focal lengths. I agree though, it is a fantastic feature, and I wish all phones would incorporate it.
Recently got the oneplus 12 and I honestly don't like the low light performance. I think fans complained that night modes have been making pics too bright so OP turned it down, but it's too dark now. I have a gcam configuration that was for the poco f3 (when I copied files over from the poco to the oneplus that gcam app carried over too) and yet the night sight on that is just objectively better than the stock cam night mode.
Yeaks... such a beast that fall in the graveyards because it doesn't gave GGL Play, honestly a phone i could buy in that day but no one really talked about at his launch. I remember my dad who had a Huawei P20 Pro, like when it launch it was such a beast in meany way and kick the whole smartphone world, it was so good in may way....
If you haven't, it would be great to see a review of the latest Pura phones from Huawei. Dispite no Google Services, Huawei are still worth buying, especially considering how good their smartwatches and laptops are if you head fully into their ecosystem.

Still have my huawei mate 50 pro and still loving it. The hardware, display, camera, good battery life and charging speed and everything else is good and I can't just give it up. Tbh the ban does make it lacking due to the lack of google play services since even if I use gbox some apps won't run properly though it can still work on some needed apps it is still a hassle for some. It was really awesome back when I own the Huawei Nova 5t since that still has google services. Currently own the mate 50 pro and 15pro max. When it comes to night photography and other pictures I usually use my huawei.
Don't forget the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ 5G's storage tech is SFS 1.0 which is way faster than UFS 4.0. I can't seem to find the source but I've read it somewhere about that storage tech and that Huawei was a threat to Apple that's why they were banned. Huawei was way ahead in terms of tech innovation and the competition were so scared they had to resort to lobbying.

I got this phone during the pandemic. The camera was not the best but it was crazy consistent and I liked the image processing that Huawei did. It wasn't too saturated or too sharp, it was perfectly balanced. This phone is a beast.

Phone innovation definitely stopped when Huawei was banned from working with Google as it removed the biggest competition to Apple and Samsung Every phone is too similar now, at least with the high end market.. i hope a company such as OnePlus can fix the market
EMUI wasn't my cup of tea, but I had a P10, which was also a really good phone. My brother had the Mate 20 Pro back then, and it was incredible. The P20 Pro and P30 Pro were also great phones. Huawei did a really good job at that time, and the smartphone industry lost one of its most innovative companies. Although, I can accept the trust issues.
Personally I do think they will come from this with their own different tech but yes this ban was one of sad things as a tech lover . There could be so much better stuff.
I believe my OnePlus 7t had different bokeh modes very similar to the mate 30. (I know it was one of my OnePlus phones, whether it was the 7t or otherwise)
The US girls were SCARED SHOOK PANICKING when Huawei swung this big with the P20-30 & Mate 20-30 series; they made phones FUN, REFRESHING, they brought a novelty factor without falling/relying on gimmicks that would fall off by the wayside just weeks later. Indeed the US girls HAD TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING REAL QUICK to nerf the competition.

In china, You can ask the huawei store to replace a new battery by 100RMB(about 14dollars)

Phone innovation definitely stopped when Huawei was banned from working with Google as it removed the biggest competition to Apple and Samsung
Every phone is too similar now, at least with the high end market.. i hope a company such as OnePlus can fix the market
EMUI wasn't my cup of tea, but I had a P10, which was also a really good phone. My brother had the Mate 20 Pro back then, and it was incredible. The P20 Pro and P30 Pro were also great phones. Huawei did a really good job at that time, and the smartphone industry lost one of its most innovative companies. Although, I can accept the trust issues.

Smaller quality of life improvements: no SDcard, no 3.5 mm jack, no fuckin' charger in the box... Yeah, improvements...
And you can shoot 7860fps slow motion with it, which I think is pretty cool
7:09 Vivo phones with Zeiss cameras also let you change bokeh in potrait mode
(even if one of their bokeh options is capital C Cringe)

It's a real shame it went away.
Personally I do think they will come from this with their own different tech but yes this ban was one of sad things as a tech lover . There could be so much better stuff.

I believe my OnePlus 7t had different bokeh modes very similar to the mate 30. (I know it was one of my OnePlus phones, whether it was the 7t or otherwise)

No the Mate 40 is the best one as it was the last hurrah before the ban really took effect besides GMS
p30 pro was the last best phone they had before the ban, but still p30 pro is a good phone to this day.

The US girls were SCARED SHOOK PANICKING when Huawei swung this big with the P20-30 & Mate 20-30 series; they made phones FUN, REFRESHING, they brought a novelty factor without falling/relying on gimmicks that would fall off by the wayside just weeks later. Indeed the US girls HAD TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING REAL QUICK to nerf the competition.
