OUR STORY, A MUST READ!
I'm sure many of you have noticed there are 2 high performance engine builders in Kingsport, TN with similar names, and this has led to a great amount of confusion.
We are Skip White Performance, NOT White Performance and Machine.
Many customers looking for us online inadvertently find them, thinking we are the same company. Definitely not...there is no connection between the two companies. We don't have a problem with free enterprise (competition). However, when the competition builds their foundation on such things as a name similarity and their supposedly long history of being in business, then we think it's about time we set the record straight.
We have owned White Performance since 2003, with the exception of the machine shop, which was owned by Fred White at the time. He continued to operate the machine shop and build engines for us while we continued selling online under the eBay user ID of skipwhite and the eBay store name of whiteperformance1.
Due to their limited production capability and many disagreements about the engine building process and workmanship, we opted to open a full scale machine shop of our own. Fred White began competing against us even though our contract had a no compete clause in it. Fred White sold his machine shop in 2016.
As our business grew we opened a second, much larger warehouse around 2011, located on Brookside Ln. in Kingsport. At this point we were well established as the number one street rod engine building in the nation. Due to the name similarity many people looking for us mistakenly contacted Fred's shop. The problem continues to this day and the new owners of Fred's shop reap the benefits from this confusion between the two shops. Fortunately we stay plenty busy throughout the year, but a new problem has came up. Were getting calls nearly on a daily basis from people that realize there are two shops in this town with very similar names and complain of serious problems in getting their engine in a timely manner. They think they purchased their engine from us. Due to the confusion there is an increasing amount of negative talk that is starting to reflect on our reputation within the street rod community, when in fact we have a near perfect reputation in this industry.
All in all, we have been in this business 16 years. By putting heart and soul in this company, we have become the number one street rod engine builder in the country. Skip White's passion has been owning and building street rods for 47 years on a personal level. The knowledge he has gained over time has allowed him to venture into this business and succeed to a very high level.
Fred White sold the machine shop to an investor in early 2016. This investor lacks any knowledge of this industry. They continue to use the White Performance & Machine name. Contrary to what is posted on their website, Fred White is no longer associated with the company in any way. Their main spiel in advertising is,"In business since 1979," when in fact, we purchased the White Performance company in 2003, with the exception of the machine shop. The great pretenders continue capitalizing from our success, but as mentioned have been degrading our reputation.
FAST FORWARD TO 2019...We have become the largest street rod engine builder in the nation. Our engines, rotating assemblies, and cylinder heads are built to very high standards and shipped to our customers in a timely manner. We are a premier seller on eBay with a positive feedback score of well over 200,000 as compared to our competitor’s score of 24k.
Our engines are custom-built to our customers' specifications and are shipped, in general, in 2-6 weeks, perhaps sooner, depending on season. Our rotating assemblies ship out in about one week, and our heads ship in about a week or less.

Dec 2 paid deposit on 434 sbc. 2 weeks later, we see a video of our engine! 665hp and 600 ft lbs on 93 fuel... Can't wait to beat on it.
I called SWP once to ask questions on their motor that was in a car I bought.... ended up on the phone with Skip himself giving me all the info I needed and then some and he remembered the specific motor that was ordered for my car! Just blew me away! So amazing!!
I was impressed at everyone was so professional. I was hesitant, but it looks like I had nothing to worry about.

I bought 2 motors from Skip White, 383 and 406, and they are both awesome. Big thing for me is even on the hottest day I can idle the car for how ever long I want and itll stay at 185° never once has it ever overheated
I bought a set of the patriot heads back in ‘08 angle milled from SWP, they’re still deadly 10yrs later.
Skip White builded a 555 BBC for me I call it the beast they are all that love these guy's thanks SWP

My 383 with bow tie heads made 450hp in a 72 4x4 truck an broke both axles and front drive shaft what a sbc motor. 😎✌

Love my forged 383 I bought in 2016. Everytime I tell people how much i paid for a forged assembly no one believes it.
My next set of sbc heads coming from here later this month!!! Wish I wanted to pull the whole engine out id add a new rotating assembly too 🤔 who knows still might end up doing it anyway lol

I purchased bbc vortec distributor from swp. Extremely good product. I've seen mr white have to defend himself on web forums and he held his own and rightfully so. Keep up the good work swp! Ill be back soon. Wanting to go with complete rebuild next with sw aluminum heads! (If possible)..
Hopefully I'll be ordering my sbc aluminum heads from you guys this month. Heard only good things about them.
In about two week were doing an all out presentation on the NKB heads. They are wonderful heads.

Made the HUGE mistake of ordering a 406 sm block from what I thought was skips shop. Was told on the phone that it was the same company. Trust me it wasn’t. Problems with customer service- weeks after I ordered trying to get ahold of someone for info it was someone will call you back. Never happened. Got the motor and I bought a tranny with it. The output shaft was absolutely mangled. Zero help from them. Got it machined and fired the motor. It immediately grounded off the end of the pump shaft. After multiple calls to them and zero response I took it to my local machine shop and had it tore down and put back together.between the machine work on the shaft and the labor for the motor it was a complete fail.MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT COMPANY. The other one will tell you it’s the same company.

Ok Mr skip your videos I’ve seen are pulling me in to buying a 489 rotating assembly but I’m the kind of person who likes to do my research and I’ve seen a lot of great comments and have seen a few bad but I know can’t please everyone out there. But to be honest was what pulled me back was when I spoke to someone who lived up there where y’all have y’all shop and he said not to do business with you but instead with your uncle Fred white. I’m a fare guy so what is it you yourself can tell me to buy from you and not Fred? I’m not trying to start anything that’s not why I’m writing this at all just wanna know how can you insure me to buy from you? I like the set up you have with the scat products and weisco pistons. I just want to make sure when I spend my money I spend it right bc I work hard for all I have and own. Thanks in advance

Same here, ive been calling and e mailing wanting to buy a pair of heads and don't get a single acknowledgement call or e mail back! They don't tell you that in the video!
@@sigunz got a hold of them finally and they raised the cost of the 383 engine by 900 dollars. wont be buying anything from them, ever.

@@nowayhunting As if every company on earth didn't raise their prices also. Do you realize that $900 on an engine that cost around 7-8 grand is only around 12% when most other products during this time have increased up to around 35% Our parts have for certain went up around 35% in these past two years. We have actually held back on what our engines should really cost considering our increase in parts cost and labor.
@@stevejenson2161 and you are telling me this a year later! we know thats a lie! you told me a year ago you raised the price 900 dollars and now you are saying you have actually " held back on what your engines should really cost" i have had my new engine that i bought from another company for a year now, right after i tried to order one from you, and they sold it to me for the price they quoted and did not jack the price up! 383 stroker 550hp and i love it. they were honest about the price and true to their word!!!!
