  • Time to get this square body chevy truck wrapped up and ready to fire! In the previous 2 videos of this project truck we removed the tired old 305 2 barrel small block and replaced it with our brand new Skip White Performance 383 stroker motor! In all of hotrodding there's nothing more popular than the small block chevy, and pretty much NOTHING more popular to swap in than a 383 stroker. For the price, it certainly makes a lot of sense!
    So with our brand new shiny crate motor in the frame rails it's time to button up everything else. Our fuel system ended up being a bit more of a challenge than expected but nothing we couldn't handle with some custom flared fuel lines. Cooling also threw us a little bit of a curve ball but nothing major, swapping the truck to a big block style radiator and custom fabricating an aluminum shroud for it t keep this new hot rod heart healthy. Our exhaust was another challenge, made even more complicated by the extreme drop the front of this truck was under. Fortunately for us we were able to conquer all these issues and more!
    Almost anyone in the classic car or hot rod market has an appreciation for an 'ole work truck and this total package really came together nicely. One of the best parts about this platform, you can really turn it into anything you want. Drag race truck? Sure! Autocross truck? Sure! Street driven muscle truck? Absolutely! After this transformation, we are definitely excited to get this one back to the customer and hope he enjoys it!

    Really happy with this project, the transformation it's gone through in a short time will be a HUGE difference in the drivers seat! From barely breathing 305 2 barrel, to rumbling grumbling growling 383 crate motor! Can't wait for the customer to get some real fun on the roads in this thing!

    Great video, you remind me of working in my shop when I had it open, great quallity work, you take pride in what you do and enjoy it, it shows. I wish I never closed my doors and went into LE and became a chopper pilot and sharp shooter because I wouldn't be dying of 2 horrible illnesses like I am now, I did love the job and helping make this a better world but I was betrayed by someone very close that resulted in me becoming disabled.
    As a side note that 2 core radiator wasn't enough to keep my square body burb from getting hot in traffic on a summer day or towing, for not much more the cost a 3 or 4 core all aluminum unit is the way to go, Skip White water pumps are AWESOME btw, I believe they carry a lifetime guarantee.

    I can’t tell you how many times over the years that I replaced or told somebody to replace that sock. For a fuel pump issue. I don’t quite a few Fuel pumps that were replaced because that thing was plugged or almost plugged up and causing fuel starvation after about 4500 RPMs and sometimes much less

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 роки тому

      It's an OFTEN overlooked issue for sure! There are a lot of little things that can cause power issues and especially if you're battling fueling start with the simple stuff first! ;) Can't breathe through a plugged filter and can't suck fuel through a plugged sock!

    Did y’all run an H pipe on the exhaust? Sadly I didn’t have enough room to run an H. Oh yeah what header gaskets did y’all end up installing?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 роки тому +1

      No sir, no H pipe just headers to a muffler on each side and out. We COULD have probably figured out an H/X situation but the customer wanted it as true duel and especially with how low the truck is only so much you can do. The header came with gaskets to the heads which we used, the collectors to pipe gaskets we cut off the flange and did a v-band set so no gasket needed.

    How much to install me a skip white motor in a c10?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 роки тому

      Ohhh there's a loaded question! ;) It really depends on what we are starting with. If we are pulling the old motor and setting a new one in plus all the typical install experience you'll have a good chunk of hours in it. If it's coming with a bare engine bay that's a lot less work :) Are you in our area? If so give us a call we can definitely talk specifics.

    What size wires are on the alternator?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 роки тому +1

      Hmmmmm now THAT'S a question we didn't expect to be asked! To be honest, not sure we never measured or checked those. What info are you looking for?

    • @cfmechanic
      @cfmechanic 3 роки тому +2

      I recommend upgrading alt charge wire to 8ga. Just run the wire from batt positive to the battery no need to replace factory wiring. Me personally I use zero guage to alt to bat. Bat to ground. Motor to frame. But I flow over 200 amps which is why I have oversized my wiring

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 роки тому +1

      @@cfmechanic at this point all that wiring has been left alone, there's almost nothing aside from lights this thing needs to power. But definitely agree with you on upgraded and redundant wiring! Can't tell you how many classics have run into all sorts of issues from a simple wiring or ground issue. Also one of the things people hate trouble shooting the most!

    • @gordocarbo
      @gordocarbo 4 місяці тому

      @@LucoreAuto True....cant run powerful fans, acessories, alternators without doing some research and upgrading. These old trucks werent designed for any of it.
