Highly recommend getting the Megingjord from the trader before doing ANY kind of big mining expo. It grants an extra 150 in carry weight and doesnt take up an armor spot. Just an Inventory space.
Players should get pretty much everything from the trader. The belt you mentioned is the absolute must-have among these things, since it is the only way in the game to increase your carrying capacity. Without it, you will have a very bad time as soon as you put on iron armour or anything above that. The helmet is not so much a must-have, but a cool gadget if you want to farm stuff at night, since it's basically a torch without needing a hand. It's perfect for farming black metal with a pit trap, though. The fishing rod along with the bait allows you to farm fish, which you can use to cook high quality stamina food very cost-efficiently. The only thing better than that in terms of stamina would be serpent soup, which is way more difficult to farm and it shouldn't be consumed for everyday things. The Ymir meat isn't actually that good for late game in my opinion. As I mentioned in another comment, I highly prefer the Black Metal Atgeir over the Iron Sledge in terms of aoe. Until you have access to Black Metal, though, the Iron Sledge is by far your best option and Ymir meat is also an ingredient for the Frostner one-handed hammer, which is a blunt silver weapon with frost damage and therefore probably your best choice for a one-handed weapon until the black metal tier in multiplayer and arguably the best melee weapon in the game for solo players. Finally, the Yule hat is a goofy looking Christmas hat. I'm sure I don't have to explain why this is the most important item in the game.
If you can find a merchant early enough, it's totally worth the 30 iron. Makes clearing crypts 1000% easier when you can just aoe slam slimes or draugr through the walls and scrap iron piles.
I noticed it does that when I try to craft arrows. I would have one inventory spot open, I would make a batch of 20 arrows. Those arrows then fill the last slot. When I try to make a second batch, it will not stack the arrows. Tells me my inventory is full.
@@bhippler100 Probably a fail safe to prevent players from making expensive shit and just having it vanish into the void. Just because their inventory was full.
7x12 lvl ground place flat beams on ground with 2 additional rows one flooring space away from each other in the middle and place long ways. Place all walls around then half walls leave a space for a door but make it a gate and place beams on either side before placing the gate. Count six spaces from one side of your house and place a a beam right before it do the same from the other end. Place your roof tiles make sure to leave a hole in the middle above the beams in the middle they should be 3 beams high attach angle roofs to them. You have enough room for all of your crafting and storage needs.
Worth noting, you can use it to find Silver in the Mountains before beating Bonemass. I did, and have no regrets. Bonemass was a sinch in full Silver equipment. Also, you use Stagbreaker to do the same thing. Gotta have an Iron Pickaxe to mine the Silver veins, though.
Quick Tip - The reason you couldn't buy more than one Item (that counts for crafting stackable Items aswell), is that there's currently a bug where you have a full inventory (= no slots empty), and even though you theoretically have space in a not full stack, the game thinks you can't fit it into your inventory. Just drop one item to clear a slot, that way you can buy / craft without a problem.

I crafted the Iron Sledge and... it’s nice but you won’t use it for long. Realistically, I mean.. maybe against weaker mobs, sure you’d destroy 100s at a time. But it’s more of a trophy item. It’s flashy, pushes enemies back a little, cool animation. However, Frostner is about as easy to craft... And it slows enemies down, lowers their stamina/staggers them for more critical hits, causes DoT on undead... deals frost damage. Both require Ymir Flesh.
I've found a great seed with swamp on the starting island. It has a swathe of black forest separating it into two parts, on the coast is the trader, where I've built my base, to the south are a troll cave, greydwarf spawner, body pile, and a crypt...to the east is a tiny strip of plains biome. So, the Draugr kill the greydwarves and Fulings occasionally get gutsy and come at me while the trolls stroll through every now and again. It's been a non stop battle since I landed. 😁
Well, in terms of aoe, I kinda prefer the Black Metal Atgeir. Its special attack (middle mouse button) has a smaller radious, but it has better knock back, quicker attacks, consumes less stamina and does a fuckton more damage. The max version of this weapon will oneshot even higher leveled enemies in the plains biome, something the iron sledge is no where near capable of and due to the sledge's slower attack speed, you also risk getting swarmed by fulings, which still can kill you in a few hits even in max level flax armour. The Black Metal Atgeir is also a lot cheaper to craft and upgrade and the mats are way easier to farm, since you can simply build a pit trap for fulings at your plains outpost and shoot them from a safe position, if you terraformed yourself one before. The ores they drop is pretty much all you need for the Atgeir.

Thank you for this! I literally went sailing all night to find the trader just to be disappointed to find he didn't have any ymir flesh to sell. Was wondering when to check back.
Honestly I prefer this weapon over my own Iron Mace when entering the swamp or mountain biome. It’s just so damn annoying being jumped by multiple draugers + skeletons or a pack of wolves at the same time. Given that the mace is shorter and has less of a stagger, it consumes way more stamina in a drawn out fight. Which in this game stamina management is way more key in fights than in dark souls since the regeneration feels slower. Increasing the stamina bar is also dependent on food consumed, not levels. But the hammer easily staggers multiple enemies allowing for just enough regeneration to execute a second slam. To me that is crucial between life or death. I wouldn’t recommend this for all battles though as a weapon + shield is more efficient for parries and block damage. And before you say it, yes I’m aware stamina potions exist. However, the stamina potions feel mediocre at best and I would rather save my inventory space for other items/loot
Just to be clear, there is a difference between drauger trophies, and elite drauger trophies. You did a great job explaining how to do get it, but when you got the trophy in the video, it was a drauger trophy, not an elite. Otherwise, great video! I love them, and I’m trying to get the elite drauger trophy myself! 😂

@ESO 3:52 when talking about only being able to buy one at the time, i believe its because your inventory is full. It's a little weird sometimes but if inventory is full you can really add things to stacks in certain situations.
Get a bunch of food, build a boat (not a raft) and trace the islands it will pop up on the map when you sail by it on the coast, takes some time unless you get lucky but it will be an island moderately close to your starting island north south east or west LOL

Question though, I unlocked a recipe for a 2h frost hammer that uses silver and Ymir flesh... but I haven’t gotten a chance to compare the two since I don’t have the recipe for the iron hammer. Do you know if the iron is still better? Or is it just a damage type difference?

So if I were you, I'd stick with the frostner for fighting those guys. The hammer might still be cool to craft just for fun though
I got my trophies by accident when i stepped outside a swamp biome to a neighbouring meadows biome. I found an abandoned village filled with draugr spawns and many elites and eventualy got 2 of them
Just finished crafting this and then maxing it out. RIP 22 ancient bark, 120 iron, 16 ymir flesh and a draugher elite trophy. Just prepping for the swamp boss.
do the heads drop in the underground spawners, killed a good 20 eliet and didnt get a single head, spent a good 4 stacks of arrows and still in early game so was an exspensive run with no head to show :(
The inventory thing is because the game doesn’t allow you to craft/buy if your inventory is full, even if what you’re buying/crafting is the same thing. I’m sure they’ll address this in future updates though it’s just minor inconvenience
Extra tip(and cheese): Use world seed: "Hu2N5rgDT5" Merchant located south east on starting island. You can take your jewellery and such in your inventory, load up the world, sell and take what you need and go back to your normal world. It's a cheese but it's very helpful for those searching for 20+ hours with no luck.
It wouldn't let you purchase more than one because you had a full inventory with no slots. Even tho you had ymir flesh it is bugged to think you have no space in your inventory.
could you make a guide on getting better food consistently for the early/mid/late game im at a point where berries and cooked meat are not going to be enough, love the guides so far!
The best thing to do is to craft a cauldron. The cauldron will give you access to much better food, like sausages you get from entrails from the drauger drops.
You could only buy 1 at a time because you didn't have a free space in your inventory. The game requires 1 empty space even if you already have an item in your inventory, because of overfill. It probably wouldnt drop the item to save them programming time, it would delete the overflow of items, thus they dont let you get items without space. Same thing happens if you try to craft more arrows with a full inventory. Have to drop something.
It's a lot easier to farm draugr not in a swamp but in an ancient village. For 3 reasons : 1. Ancient villages are in the first type of biome and so much more confortable to be in. No other dangerous monsters than draugr will annoye you. 2. You will not be wet all the time while killing the draugrs, wich is better for stamina regeneration. 3. In a swamp where there is draugr spawners it often happen that a draugr spawn inside of one of the surrounding rocks. Wich is annoying.
Like many of you, I have what I thought was all of the items to unlock the recipe, however my Drauger trophy is NOT an Elite trophy. Time to go find one.
is there not a silver variant of the 2h Sledge? Also i got stupid lucky and my spawn in Island was massive.. multiple biomes and the merchant was maybe 2km away from it.
Hope they end up having end game bosses that are the actual Fenrir, Loki, Jörmungandr(the midgard serpent), Surtr(the fire giant) and maybe Thrymr to unlock Mjölnir bcs he once stole it from Thor
It says 80 parry force and 2X parry bonus which means I should be able to parry any hit dealing less than 160 damage but still I cannot parry fulings and deathsquitos, wtf am I doing wrong? preventing meaningless advises: the timing is perfect
I'd love to see you do a sneak focused guide. To me, the sneaking mechanic isn't clear at all. I know it increases damage like in Skyrim, but how detection works and whether or not a shot will be considered a sneak attack is beyond me.
I believe I got my recipe once I looted a draugr elite trophy (as I already had iron recipes unlocked prior, and bought one Ymir flesh the first day I found my merchant.)
I cant find an iron crypt; ive gone to four swamps so far and thoroughly scanned them. Hell once I resorted to a god cheat just so I can double check this large swamp and still couldnt find any iron. Im stuck
It's inside the crypts in the swamp , where you use your swamp key from the 2nd boss. Look out for green flames surrounding the crypts you can see those from pretty far.
@@randar1969 Around three days after I put this post down I found another swamp with 8 crypts in it. it was amazing. Nothing for quire a while, then 8 all clustered together. I think I went to like seven swamps before I finally found one with crypts in it. Its a horrible seed.

I used the seed 42069lolxd to get the merchant, I still havent sound mine
Our group explored most of the map over 2 days before we found him on the island next to our spawn.
@@Notbatman374 yeah ours was on an island right next to spawn as well. Found him super early
How close do you have to be for his icon to appear? I assume if he's in the middle of an island then sailing around it wouldn't discover him
@Bafi ok thanks
@@kylerschenk520 thank you!
yeah get cauldron....early food is probs carrot soup (3 carrots 1 red mushroom) and Sausage as mentioned (meat, entrails and thistles)
does upgrading save this thing? the level 1 sledge kinda sucks
For 3 reasons :
Thank you very much for this comment. It took ~20 minutes of nonstop farming in a village. Would be much more harder to do this in the swamps.
@@ponomax87 When I watched this video I thought that this little advice could help some people. I am so glad to learn that it did :)
Like many of you, I have what I thought was all of the items to unlock the recipe, however my Drauger trophy is NOT an Elite trophy. Time to go find one.
Got the elite trophy, recipe now shows in the list. :D
is there not a silver variant of the 2h Sledge? Also i got stupid lucky and my spawn in Island was massive.. multiple biomes and the merchant was maybe 2km away from it.
Mate, I have one question why you got painted sail on your boat I got white? 🤔
Its a style choice when your crafting the item you can do same with wooden shield also
cuz u have smaller ship
@@shadowstep420 how?
@@KodyXXVll you select it under the tab where it says style when you make the item you click on it
I want to use this against bonemass, just to see how fast of a fight it could be compared to using the iron mace.
the merch in my world spawned next to mountain biome I lack forest in an island that is big and has plains and I think patches of swamp and meadows
i can only smash that like button with the force of my finger clicking on my mouse, but ill still smash it
Got the bark, got the iron, got ymir’s flesh. Now i just need to decapitate a fat viking with bad hygiene. XD
Can the hammer destroy rock ? Like iron tin cooper and other.
yo I haven't seen this name in years. Used to watch back in the skyrim days. Good shit
Verry well sir : )
398 days, 209 hours of gameplay on one world. No merchant.
Lucky devil
@@gustavosalas8165 Unlucky.
@@forest-195 depens in the way you see it.
Hey i need help
There is nor Ymirs at the merchant ?
I have the same problem. Maybe it was removed
@@martin3909 yo, no u can only buy it after bonemass
@@martin3909 jeah i got it
deafeat the bonemass than u can buy it from the merchant :D
Trader was by the 2nd boss for me 🤣 soo lucky I didn't have to look around too much
I've seen a few say that, but he was absolutely nowhere near the 2nd boss in our game. 2nd boss spots are in NE and SW, he was in far NW.
Is the iron sledge no longer available? Git the components and Frostner came up, but no iron sledge.
Do you have the elite draugr trophy?
Hope they end up having end game bosses that are the actual Fenrir, Loki,
Jörmungandr(the midgard serpent), Surtr(the fire giant) and maybe Thrymr to unlock Mjölnir bcs he once stole it from Thor
probably will happen but not soon enough 😅 we have some minion versions of some of those like: surtings, fenrings
What's the best 1hand and shield?
Nice!
Is the iron sledgehammer stonger than Frostner?
What that item on your 7th slot?
I just randomely found the merchant without looking, I’m so lucky
I thought that frostner was better because it has frost and spirit damages, is it true?
I'd say it depends. Frostner is more of a 1v1, this hammer seems to wreck crowds.
What seed is this i have the same one it seems on my dedicated server
After i bougth one ymr flesh it stopped showing so i couldnt buy any
Is it possible to get the world seed?
You are doing great. When's the next video coming out? Thumbs Up 👍
It says 80 parry force and 2X parry bonus which means I should be able to parry any hit dealing less than 160 damage but still I cannot parry fulings and deathsquitos, wtf am I doing wrong? preventing meaningless advises: the timing is perfect
can i use anyones server to use your trader?
my shop doesnt have the ymir parts. any idea?
i have the same problem at this moment, frustrating
apparently you have to BEAT bonemass before it gets added to the shop
Maybe I may blind, but I dont see a link to the video about the Bow
Check the channel, ill add it soon tho thanks for reminding me!
@@ESOdanny I found it thanks :)
Poor little fellow, he was just north of my very first camp last direction I went exploring but a 3-5 min run
Nice
Is this better than frostner?
froster or iron sledge what u suggest bro ?
Both
I'd love to see you do a sneak focused guide. To me, the sneaking mechanic isn't clear at all. I know it increases damage like in Skyrim, but how detection works and whether or not a shot will be considered a sneak attack is beyond me.
So Do you learn the recipe from the Elite Head?
It depends what items you've discovered. You have to have held all the items in your inventory at least once for the recipe to be discovered.
Did buying the flesh give you the recipe? I bought the flesh but didnt get any recipe.
I believe I got my recipe once I looted a draugr elite trophy (as I already had iron recipes unlocked prior, and bought one Ymir flesh the first day I found my merchant.)
You need the other ingredents before you will unlock it
@@ESOdanny Thank you.
pretty sir the warewolf drops yamir flesh as well not just merhcant
Nope it doesn't. Only drops wolf fangs and fenring trophy. Merchant is the only place to get ymir flesh right now
Still waiting on that bow link...
got the ymirs flesh but the recipe wont unlock anyone know why?
By me hes Not selling that stuff to me how can i get the Item ??
