First of all I just want to say thank you so much for making this video and doing the research behind it. It is extremely helpful! There are a couple of clarifications i would like to make based on my experimentation: The distance of the spawn points to the CAMP module is based not on a fixed number of foundation blocks but on the camp's build radius. For public and private worlds, this build radius is equal to the length of six foundation blocks laid end to end (making your numbers correct) but on a custom world, it may be increased, and this has the effect of scaling the distance of _all_ spawn points from the CAMP module by the same factor. For the owner's "far" spawn point, this will be 1 build radius North and 1 build radius East, or Northeast by √2 times the build radius. For the owner's "near" spawn point, and for a visitor's spawn point, it is simply the build radius, but in a pseudorandomly chosen direction between North and Northeast. If the CAMP module is never moved from its original placement point, visitors will always spawn on the camp's build perimeter, which is ideal for avoiding being stuck inside not-yet-rendered camp objects. The intent was probably to provide a useful default which could then be altered by fast travel mats, but when these were removed from the game it was decided to use the current location of the CAMP module (but, for some reason, not also its current rotation), leading to players spawning possibly far outside the CAMP boundary _and_ facing the wrong way.

I didn’t know this! But I did figure out a long time ago that if you want people to spawn at the main entrance of your South facing camp…too bad. Ain’t happening.
So I watched another video which cleared things up for me. You always spawn due North of the placement of you camp in or out of workshop. That's why as an example this video worked because that was already your preferred location to spawn. The trick to change the way you face does work though.
Its crazy to me that there is no placeable spawn point. Its such a simple fix for spawning underground or in odd places, in my case, in the middle of a river. It would be so nice to just, know, where you spawn, and decorate accordingly.

Never thought about rotating the module. I knew i always spawned diagonally away from the thing and presumably always the same direction. Then i'd drag the module over to where i was spawning hoping that i'd warp in the opposite direction. Nope... i was even further out still in the same direction. One of my camps spawns you right at the precipice of a cliff... so you get a really nice view heh. More camp tweaking ahead!
How would this change with vertical distances? I have a 3-story camp, with my module on the roof in one corner. So when I spawn in I'm either inside on the stairs from the 1st tob2nd floor, or at the bottom of a tall mountain WELLLL far from the module (likely 40+ foundation blocks away, at least). So your mechanics only work for flat, 1-story camps...or rather, if your camp module is at normal ground level. Other than that, it's wildly inaccurate.
This video is over 2 years old, some things have changed. Visitors do still spawn roughly the same distance north/northeast of your module placement, but now face the center of the camp (last I checked, but it may have changed with the last update). Camp owner spawn points have changed a little, but cliffside camps have always been unreliable.
@@kikibplays This explains why I always spawn looking south, I was going crazy trying to get to the camp looking east I'm hating Bethesda with all my heart right now

Thank you for this video! I like to build under the bridges near Harpers Ferry, and couldn't figure out why sometimes I would spawn in the water outside my camp and others I would spawn on top of the adjacent bridge. XD
This unfortunately has not worked for me. The area seems to always spawn me at the incorrect side reguardles of orientation and direction i faced during placement. I found that I could only control the direction I faced when I spawned. Using the left arm method.
2 hrs spent with small nudges, turns and such so my visitors spawned facing the front of my camp but far enough away they didn't end up half in a wall or foundation. Then I had to do a little more nudging so I didn't spawn within the foundation. I think I spent more time on getting my spawn points right than I did building my camp
Has this changed? I've spent an hour playing with a location you suggested in another of your vids (the buried train cars south of Raleigh Clay bunker) and no matter which direction I face when placing my module, I always end up facing south. I'm not just repositioning my camp, I'm paying to "relocate" at the same location then fast traveling to vault 76 and back to test the direction. For the life of me I can't get my spawn to face the dugout entrance. It's always a generally southern facing direction. Please help😢
Golden information. Gonna put this well taut knowledge to use today when I sign in! my camp spawn is crappy because I did not know this and wanted to "hide" my C.A.M.P Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for the guide! To be clear: spawn facing direction is determined by *initial* placedown of CAMP machine, but spawn location is determined based on wherever the CAMP machine is, even if you move it?
Thanks for the research. So there is no way to adjust it after you've set your CAMP? And do you have an advice for prefab buildings on high areas? I always spawn outside of it although I have player build floors.
There are a couple exceptions to that .. if you decide to place your camp say hugging a marked location .. lets use Whitesprings Station as an example .. you will still have your owner 6x6 HOWEVER the guest spawn will share the marked locations spawn ie on the tracks across tje road from the station .. BUT guests will also share owners spawn soooo they can spawn in at either location
Thanks for the video! But I don't think it works this way anymore. I frigging hate this, I wish they gave us the power to spawn anywhere we want outside the camp (to circumvent trap camps..)
What if you build your camp within a preexisting structure? I built one of my camps at the big cabin NE of Bolton Greens and let me tell you, the spawn point it's so random, apparently if there's a big preexisting structure, the game simply just places your character in a random place, just outside of the structure
Thank you for your experimenting and lessons! I find it difficult to see where the FRONT of the module is (points to). So, it is when that vertical "tube"/antenna on the right. (I learned the hard way and with a lot of trial and error that rotating the camp module afterwards changes nothing.)
Maybe just my experience, but this doesn’t work, at least not in my camp location. No matter what, I keep spawning in the exact same spot, doesn’t matter which way I face that module. Yes I’m resetting my camp, 10 times now
Yea I also experienced this. I set my spawn like the video explains, But when I built my camp and moved the camp module (not resetting my camp), the spawn moved as well. That being said, when I moved my module into my camp, the spawns changed once, then didn’t change again, and I haven’t moved my module since. And the spawn locations for both me and visitors are still consistent with your video. I think they just made it so you CAN alter the spawn point after the initial placement by moving the camp module. So basically the video still works if you put a bubble over 1:20 saying that was changed 😂
So i can't change my spawn unless i nuke my camp. I just got rid of the over appearance. But now i'm more worried about the floating house and my shelter. I couldn't just tear them down to have the project complete. So i have to compromise with stairs since FT mats aren't a thing anymore.
Just a heads up, unless something changed this doesn't work anymore. No matter where I face, how I lay down my camp item, or even moving it after, I always spawn in the same spot nw of where I put the thing down. I've wasted hundreds of caps experimenting with this.
In a previous Fallout game, there was an item (a mat) that you placed in the exact spot where you wanted the travel entry point to be. With so much trash in the Atomic Shop, they might well make this thing available.
Thank you very much. But maybe any suggestions with camp unit placing if I build camp veeeeeeeery high, but when I spawn I just basically fall down to the ground. Doesn't matter how I turn it..
I have a camp where that happens as well. If you have the option to place it on ground instead of in a structure that should help (I don't have that option, mine is on top of a massive crane lol
It's probably a loading thing, so you can't necessarily fix that. From an engine standpoint, your camp starts loading after you arrive, so the spot you want to FT to doesn't technically exist when you initially spawn. My floating shipping container camp drops me from about 6 stories up when I first FT, then once the camp is loaded I can FT again and will spawn inside my home.
Does it pick the lowest point? One of my camps is on a bridge (the one south of the Southern Belle Motel). Guests spawn on top of the bridge (thankfully), but it spawns me under it. And no, I don't mean under the bridge in the swamp, but inside the bridge structure where it would be impossible to get to generally. I've given up trying to fix it. At least others don't have to put up with it, otherwise I'd probably never get visitors.
Setting the spawn in facing direction doesn't seem to work in 2024. I can rotate my camp module, upon initial camp placement, in any direction and I always will face south.
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this video is no longer relevant and Bethesda changed it, but it doesn't work anymore. At least for me. I'm turning the camp machine, but the teleport still goes with a view to the south. I found a good place for the camp, but there you really need to appear with a view to the north, but it doesn't work.
They've changed it some since. You now spawn facing the center of your build area. I've gotten tired of trying to keep up with the changes, so I haven't bothered figuring out the rest.
So you said you cant fix this on existing camp? But on a new camp you wouldnt know for sure where the spawn is until you build some foundations, so you just have to keep moving the camp until you get it decent? Also how do you get it ourside the camp radius? Isnt the camp thingy always the center of the build circle?
You can pick up the camp module while you're in build mode and move it anywhere within your camp radius. You can only set the direction you'll face on spawning in a new camp placement, but moving the module around in build mode will influence where you spawn after that. Please keep in mind that spawn locations have changed some in the last couple of updates. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I'll be making a new video when I do.
@@kikibplays thank you for your response i am literally building a camp next to morgantown station and i hope i can fast travel and run straight to the station
ive had a few different camps where friends on my friends list spawn in the exact center of my camp, regardless of camp box location. this problem of spawning in the direct center of the camp happens to myself too and only at certain camps. i've never noticed this happen to random strangers visiting those camps.
That's really odd! Sometimes your surroundings can mess with your spawn point - like if there are preexisting buildings in your camp, so maybe that's what's happening? But it still wouldn't explain strangers spawning in different places than friends... 🤔
Thank you so much for this! I'd love to have a fallout 4 type system using welcome mats to determine where you spawn. I never seem to have the forethought to realize I might spawn off a cliff when I set up a new camp.
Thanks, I hope it'll be helpful! Welcome mats would be great if there were a way to make sure they couldn't be abused. Unfortunately they were, and were very quickly removed way back at the beginning 😔
it's the blue building next to the capital building..jet pack on top and see where the power use to connect to the building, place your camp on top of the arm sticking out
I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding your directions or not but I promise you I’m testing this and I’m currently spawning south east of my module placed near centre.
They changed how this works in a recent update and I'm too tired of all their arbitrary changes to keep making new videos each time 😑 Last I checked, you now spawn in facing the center of your camp - and I mean the center of your entire build area, not any structure or whatever. The rotation of the module on initial placement doesn't seem to matter anymore (unless they changed that again). The visitor spawn location does seem to still be NxNE-ish of the current location of your module, but your own spawn is different.
@@kikibplays Well at least I now know I'm not going crazy! It makes no sense why they would change that on purpose so lets home it gets fixed in the next patch.
The rotation part doesnt seem to work at all. The location I want to put my camp spawms me on the same spot nomatter what direction the camp terminal is rotated in
The rotation part is only when you first place your camp down, and it only changes the direction you face when you spawn. Moving the module after that will change the spot, but not the direction you face. Try watching it again, and listen well 😉
@@kikibplays Yeah I rotated it upon placement and kept trying (spending caps) multiple directions and it always spawned to the North which sadly is the bottom of a cliff. Had to use a different area entirely. Even tried rotating it + my character's facing direction, it'd never change from the north spawn.
Damn I wish I would have known this for a few of my existing camps. Lol. This is great though. I will definitely use this in the future. Appreciate the info. On an unrelated note, how do you record yourself waving in the beginning of your videos. I've been trying to do that for a new video I'm editing but can't figure it out. When I wave and go into photo mode it just stops waving. Hope you can help. Thanks.
Thanks, glad it's helpful! For recording emotes, I just turn the HUD opacity all the way down in the display settings, then go into third person view and line the camera up where I want it before emoting.
....I've watched this video like 10 times looked up how to and what not and still I spawn in the most bs place so idk no matter what I do. Idk what way is the "forward" way on the stupid projector
Tried some of this but still not moving much. Can a spawn point be changed after you already started building in your camp? Why does the developer not provide more guidance on how to set spawn point when you place the CAMP? It seems like a very odd thing to be mysterious about.
This has changed a lot in the last couple of updates; I'm working on sorting through my backlog at the moment. They don't want us being able to easily set spawn points because of traps.
@@kikibplays Good to know, eager to learn how the rules have changed👍 I watched the video a few days ago before trying my hand at a new camp, but it didn't seem to work as you explained. Checked it again and made some notes until I read this. I specifically chose a "recent" video because obviously a lot has happened in 5 years. But it's kinda shocking how much of that has apparently only happened in the last year or so. Anyway, if Bethesda's (understandable) objective is to avoid fixed or easily predicted specific spawn points, the current implementation is failing at that. Rebuilt my camp from scratch in every direction and it kept spawning me in the same area and facing the same direction. Near travel put me in the same spot, far travel (other side of the map) a bit off the side but not by as much as in this video. I might be confusing the two because they were really close together. I am on a bit of a cliff side though, haven't tried it on flat terrain. I was trying to get myself and players to spawn in a general area away from my camp where they would be safe and able to see and approach the house I'll build from the best direction. So maybe we just can't see where other players will land now?
That means my game is broken. It does not work like this. It also depends on existing Structures nearby. I just want the doormat back. But thank you a lot i think it will help a lot of people!
So I made a new camp and I tried everything and could not get facing the right way when I fast traveled to the camp. I want to be facing the front of my camp when I travel there. I turned the camp unit, turned myself, stood on my head, laid down, jumped, nothing will make it work the way I want. I always face the opposite direction and always behind the thing I build. GRRRR
I doesn't work for me. No matter where I place my camp (when I pay 40 caps for it) it isn't changing the location. Has something change since you have posted your video?
It's always possible that game mechanics change with new updates. But try moving the module in build mode, not completely re-placing your whole camp. For example place the camp module on the far northern edge of your camp radius.
Spawns seem to be completely broken as of the newest update. No matter how I orient my CAMP module now I spawn facing south-southwest, with the exact direction being somewhat random. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'll have to check it out later and see what's up. Sometimes it depends on where your camp is actually located - if you're in a location with some preexisting structures it may have to spawn you in a specific spot based on those. But they also might have just changed it.
@@kikibplays Thanks for that, I'd appreciate knowing the results of your testing! So far I've tested it on another camp of mine, and the first time I traveled there my spawn was as I originally set it, but the second time it also switched to being south-southwest. I even tried on a newly made alt, and had the same exact results. I think they messed something up, unfortunately.
I came here to see if anyone else had problems with new builds. I have used this video to set up spawn points for several camps, and now it's just not working. I can't figure out the pattern though. Maybe you're still north east, but now always facing the camp module?
UPDATE: After some testing I think I've figured out the new spawning behavior; you now spawn facing the direct center of your build radius (which is shown by the camp icon on your compass), or in other words the location where you first placed your camp module. You still spawn northeast of your camp module, so you can move it around to change your spawn direction, but it definitely takes more fiddling than the old method.
The diameter is just over 11.5 foundations and the build height is slightly more than 4 walls above and below where the camp is initially placed (you can build a 4-story structure and still place turrets or something on the roof).

1:10 ....no, the first thing you need to know, is how to place it?! How did you get that to come up so you could place a camp. You missed a step and it's pretty important

This unfortunately has not worked for me. The area seems to always spawn me at the incorrect side reguardles of orientation and direction i faced during placement. I found that I could only control the direction I faced when I spawned. Using the left arm method.
Same for me, I always appear to the north of the camp, the only thing I can change is the direction in which I'm looking, which is extremely annoying.
I'm looking into it and I'll be doing a new video once I've got all the ins and outs sorted.
@@kikibplays are you any further forward with this? pulling my hair out tryna figure this out
I haven't had much time for 76 lately, hoping to get back to it soon.
That's correct (at least at the time this was made)
Ok this answers my questions!
Thanks for the research. So there is no way to adjust it after you've set your CAMP? And do you have an advice for prefab buildings on high areas? I always spawn outside of it although I have player build floors.
Thank you for the informative and helpful video.
I really need to keep this in mind the next time I build one of your lovely CAMPS. I also find it amazing you know exactly what is in my vendor. 😂
This definitely helps me out, thank you.
In my and potential visitors to my camp name I thank you for saving people from spawning in air just over a massive cliff.
Yeah, I've noticed it can be squirrely around preexisting stuff.
Thank you for your experimenting and lessons! I find it difficult to see where the FRONT of the module is (points to). So, it is when that vertical "tube"/antenna on the right.
(I learned the hard way and with a lot of trial and error that rotating the camp module afterwards changes nothing.)
Currently it doesn't change anything if you rotate it beforehand, either. They changed a green things in recent updates.
Great info! Launching myself on top of power pyloms with spike traps. Camps cam be built up there, but spawning in is hard...
I would never had though of that, now everything makes sense, no more spawning inside my stash box 👍👍
Thank you for clearing this up! You got a new subscriber 😊
Thank you! Just keep in mind this has changed a little in recent updates. I haven't had the time to fully investigate yet.
@@kikibplays Yes, as of July 2024 the 6N 2E is not accurate.
Maybe just my experience, but this doesn’t work, at least not in my camp location. No matter what, I keep spawning in the exact same spot, doesn’t matter which way I face that module. Yes I’m resetting my camp, 10 times now
There were some changes to camp spawns in the last couple of updates, I have yet to sit down and figure out all the details.
Yea I also experienced this.
I set my spawn like the video explains,
But when I built my camp and moved the camp module (not resetting my camp), the spawn moved as well.
Man, I wish there were better options for this.
Same, friend.
anyone know the name of the outfit she got on
It's the K.D. Inkwell outfit from an old scoreboard
Informative. Thank you.

So i can't change my spawn unless i nuke my camp. I just got rid of the over appearance. But now i'm more worried about the floating house and my shelter. I couldn't just tear them down to have the project complete. So i have to compromise with stairs since FT mats aren't a thing anymore.
Thanks a bunch! I always spawn in my foundation and now I can fix that. Yay!
For some reason, I can’t move my camp module at all. It keeps saying outside buildable area even if I try to move it a teeny inch. Any ideas?
Uh I have a question can you do a build under the bridge by the gulley mine exit
I've done a build *on* that bridge... ua-cam.com/video/OBneUIfKNJ8/v-deo.html
Hmm I'll have to try this. Thanks Kiki
It was originally available for camps for a very brief time (still is in workshops), but people abused it and made visitors spawn in a mess of traps.
How hard would it be to have more flat land to build on , I can’t even have neighbors
Cool, I was just talking about this yesterday. Oh please Kiki, lay some knowledge on me.
@@kikibplays Unfortunately, mine is located above a large rock, very high. And I still can't solve this problem.
Sounds like you're probably stuck with it, then. Sorry, wish I could help!
mahalo nui loa....thank you sooooo much....i have just been useing trial and error to find a decent point
I have a floating camp the first teleport I go to the floor the second I go into the right area how do I fix that
It's probably a loading thing, so you can't necessarily fix that. From an engine standpoint, your camp starts loading after you arrive, so the spot you want to FT to doesn't technically exist when you initially spawn. My floating shipping container camp drops me from about 6 stories up when I first FT, then once the camp is loaded I can FT again and will spawn inside my home.
@@kikibplays alright thanks for the reply wish I found your video before instead of trial and erroring it for over an hour
They should really add the Fast travel target mat from Fallout 4 to simplify this.
it's still availbe in workshops, but they remvoed it from camps
Does it pick the lowest point? One of my camps is on a bridge (the one south of the Southern Belle Motel). Guests spawn on top of the bridge (thankfully), but it spawns me under it. And no, I don't mean under the bridge in the swamp, but inside the bridge structure where it would be impossible to get to generally. I've given up trying to fix it. At least others don't have to put up with it, otherwise I'd probably never get visitors.
Setting the spawn in facing direction doesn't seem to work in 2024. I can rotate my camp module, upon initial camp placement, in any direction and I always will face south.
thanks kiki~ I'm sad you can't change it for an existing camp, but when I redo my camp next season I'll do this.
You can change the landing spot any time - just not the direction you face.
This is a much needed vid. I'll always ignore the vendor if I spawn into concrete
I'll usually fast travel in again, but only on my PS5. Loading times on PS4 are too damn slow for that to be worth it 😖
does not work this way anymore. tested changing the direction of new camps twice and i still spawn north regardless of rotating the camp
This is just great!
Hi, doesn't work for me, I can place my camp modul however I want but I always facing south and spawn on north side 😢 I'm on xbox.
There have been some changes to camp spawns in recent updates. I'm working on a new video.
it's the blue building next to the capital building..jet pack on top and see where the power use to connect to the building, place your camp on top of the arm sticking out
Awesome, I'll check it out! Also that Discord link is in the description, join us if you want!
thank you for this info, it was driving me nuts, granted there should be a teleport pad yet it is what it is.
There should be, if they can figure out a way to make it trap-proof. Glad it helped.
I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding your directions or not but I promise you I’m testing this and I’m currently spawning south east of my module placed near centre.
Where's your camp located?
ive noticed players have 2 spawn points 1 if they fast travel to the camp but another if they fast travel to you while your at your camp
Been trying to choose the direction for the last 20 minutes and no mater what I do I always spawn in facing south... What Amy I doing wrong?
They changed how this works in a recent update and I'm too tired of all their arbitrary changes to keep making new videos each time 😑 Last I checked, you now spawn in facing the center of your camp - and I mean the center of your entire build area, not any structure or whatever. The rotation of the module on initial placement doesn't seem to matter anymore (unless they changed that again). The visitor spawn location does seem to still be NxNE-ish of the current location of your module, but your own spawn is different.
@@kikibplays Well at least I now know I'm not going crazy! It makes no sense why they would change that on purpose so lets home it gets fixed in the next patch.
was this patched out? Because rotating the module doesn't seem to do anything for me.
I'm not sure, I'll look into it.
@@kikibplays same
Thank u!
Yeah, you will always spawn roughly northeast of wherever the camp module is located.
Didn't think of that. Thank you. I appreciate it. 😁
Any time!
....I've watched this video like 10 times looked up how to and what not and still I spawn in the most bs place so idk no matter what I do. Idk what way is the "forward" way on the stupid projector
This no longer works. No matter where the module is or what direction it or I am facing I will always spawn on the north side of the camp
@@kikibplays please update the title. Delete my Camp to set a good spawnpoint 😂
When does an update video come out?
@@kikibplays
Good to know, eager to learn how the rules have changed👍
I watched the video a few days ago before trying my hand at a new camp, but it didn't seem to work as you explained.
The video was made July 14, 2022. Bethesda probably changed something
Most likely and sadly yes. @@noLKWD_vital

Thanks for the video! Any tips on spawn points for camps that are primarily underground? I've been struggling a bit lol
GRRRR
Same.
Each time you move the module it changes the spawn
I doesn't work for me. No matter where I place my camp (when I pay 40 caps for it) it isn't changing the location. Has something change since you have posted your video?
It's always possible that game mechanics change with new updates. But try moving the module in build mode, not completely re-placing your whole camp. For example place the camp module on the far northern edge of your camp radius.
Thank you so much. This was a big help, I spawned at the bottom of a cliff when I spawned, and I spent like 20 minutes trying climb up to my camp. 😭🙏🏽
The most sad situacion
Still makes zero sense. What do you mean "facing" when you're talking about the CAMP module? It has 4 sides. Which on is the "face"?
Pretend like you are going to use the drill press. That is the front! Hope this helps. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.
Me.
I rotate it and replace it and move it and no matter what I spawn in the same bad spot. Idk what I’m doing wrong.
Same.
so just out of curioiusity dos anyone know how LARGE your camp zone is like how many say building blocks across vs how high it is and such?
The diameter is just over 11.5 foundations and the build height is slightly more than 4 walls above and below where the camp is initially placed (you can build a 4-story structure and still place turrets or something on the roof).
@@kikibplays nice thanks. Just need to find a nice large semi flat space with water i can place a purifer at and suround it with walls maybe over by the tree house village ...

Also ive spawned at this location before at another persons camp and the spawn point was on the southern side of they’re camp
Nope there's no way to spawn south. It will always be north by northeast of the module.
I had no idea of the camp orientation spawn 🤔
It's changed some in the last months
How do I even get the option to place my camp😭
Open your Pip-Boy, at the bottom of the screen you'll see the text "place camp" and next to it it tells which button. L1/LB on console, not sure what it is on PC.
1:10 ....no, the first thing you need to know, is how to place it?! How did you get that to come up so you could place a camp. You missed a step and it's pretty important
I tend to assume that by the time people find my channel they've at least placed a camp for the first time and built a couple of basic things before. I don't make videos for the absolute beginner, but perhaps I should do a camp basics guide. Open your Pip-Boy and look somewhere around the bottom of the screen. It'll tell you what button to push to move or place your camp.
This doesnt seem to work anymore, anyone have any idea on what to do?
It may have changed in a recent update, I'll look into it later.
@@kikibplays Thank you. I tried some stuff that I found on Reddit, moved my camp around while in the place mode, then moved it around in build mode, but no matter what I did it would always spawn me on the Northeast edge of the build radius
