Ive discovered a lot of weight can be removed by drastically reducing the amount of chems and stimpacks i hold onto. In addition to whatever food i take, along with a few nuka-cherrys cuz damn are they helpful with the perk, i never carry more than 5 stims. Chances are really good you'll find plenty while you're exploring and its a really common reward for quests. Get them caps instead
This type of instructional video is always welcome, a bastard for newbies that can take a long while to figure out. I didn’t figure it out until level 70 or so. Good work West Tek dude, I am certain a lot people will benefit from this. Have a good day all and will catch up in the wasteland……
I think the Perk Cards do not affect your stash box. It's just a bug. You can try to remove the items and you'll see the real numbers. That's why you're better off having all items on you if you have a perk card or a backpack with weigh reduction.
The most important thing to remember with inventory management: item weights differ depending on your active perks, and body/power armor special effects. Stacking these % bonuses (like Traveling Pharmacy with a -20% food/chem weight, or Pack Rat and -20% junk weight), so your stash box should really just be for items with weight you can’t reduce, items for sale, and items you absolutely cannot carry. Make or look for deep-pocketed 3* Legendary body armor pieces that have different % reductions. This is how you carry around more than your stash box can hold.
My personal favorite combo is Batteries Included and -20% ammo weight, so I can easily carry around 50+ fusion cores on the first rank of the perk card.
The most useful might be Bear Arms and -20% weapon weight, making my heavy weapons weigh about 2-3lbs each. I’ll just remain a walking arsenal indefinitely to avoid them switching back to like 20lbs in my stash.
@@Joeljaboy I'm guilty of carrying around 60+ weapons on my main. He hasn't been able to fast travel for 6 months because I'm such a hoarder. lol. Fun though. Kinda wish there was a CAMP house display item that lets you toss perk cards onto it that would benefit your camp. Such as ammo crafting, armor crafting weapon crafting etc. so we dont have to keep flip flopping back and forth for crafting.
That's what the perk loadout thing you build in your CAMP is for. Have a crafting/homebase loadout and an adventure/fighting one, maybe. I have 3 loadouts, Crafting, Bloodied (SS armor), PowerArmor Nuke Zone. Only takes a moment to change between them. Just sucks when you teleport to an event and realise you still have your crafting loadout enabled. :)
I would usually store junk which is hard to get. The rest which is easy to get, I would just go farm them when I need them. The bulking thing was new for me. I did not know that it did not make any difference and I was wasting my precious molded plastics. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for this video. I hit the 1200 lbs from hoarding and forgetting about the items. This video helped me knock it down to 650 lol. Had 200 lbs of legendary stuff collected and forgotten about
Plastic is useful for shotgun shell ammo. I use armor perks and spent quite a bit rolling a few but you can get 20% reduction on ammo or weapons or the best one I like is food, drink AND chems. Power armor also can get these legendary perks. Plus if you are real lucky you can get plus 1 strength on them. Weapons and armor if you happen to get the 90% weight perk more with heavier guns those work so nice. Last but not least it may take a while but getting the scout large backpack and then the mod for the expanded that’s an extra 120 carry weight. There are other mods but a universal one works for me.
One thing I will say about ammo is to invest in an ammo converter don't just drop it.... if you put all the low selling and unusable ammo in there gain points over time and get the ammo you use.... save you a little bit on crafting ammo materials... and you can replace your high sellers in the vendor with that if you choose also
Funny thing regarding canned dog food, during the beta and after launch I took the triple benefit from dog food perk, friends laughed and joked, but I wasn't the one that was always hungry
@@TheHellsAngel666 thru hiker has the same 90% less food weight so I essentially use three star perk to get 60 more carry weight. In the end they achieve the same goal.

Another good tip for inventory management is the ammo converter. You can essentially bank a fraction of the ammo you have by converting it all into points then just withdrawing ammo when you need it. Especially heavy stuff like missiles. The return rate isnt the greatest but ammo is common enough that you dont have to worry about it too much
Thanks for the help, my stash was suffering. Very helpful vid! Also I can't help but notice what sounds like a remix of Theater from Jak X music in the background, nice. 😄
Some tips from a Level 200-ish player. This is how I keep my stash box clean and have around 100 pounds of breathing room for emergency situations WITHOUT Fallout 1st: 1. Like MrWestTek says in the video, if you aren't using it, get rid of it. Sell it or drop it 2. There's 5 major things that will put alot of weight in your stash box: Weapons, Armor, Medicine, Junk, and ammo 3. Only keep up to 5 of each type of medicine that isn't stimpaks. As for stimpaks, keep as little of them as your build will allow. Stimpaks especially will weigh you down FAST 4. Only keep up to 200 or less of each type of junk no matter what it is. At least this is what I find alot of success with as a melee build user. Other builds might need more junk. Essentially, try to keep as little junk as possible. It will help keep your weight under control
I picked up 76 three weeks ago, your informative videos are a huge help thanks brotha. 🔥I challenge you to put together an updated build video, maybe some combos of PA and non-PA. TIA
Thru hiker and travelling pharmacy are really good perks. I wouldn’t bother putting food in my stash box. Especially nuka cola. Since they weigh like 1.
One of my characters has 16 power armor frames all full of PA pieces of script. Also useful to carry an empty frame out on your adventures in case you get some PA drops.
thanks for the vid even with Fallout 1st I'm a hoarder. As far as I've seen bulking only saves weight on a couple of the scrap types and also then wastes the plastic (so I would give that a miss unless its steel or lead I think)
I've been playing for about a month now, and after a couple weeks decided, I'm going to be using rifles, while keeping 1 good melee in my personal inventory with 1 pistol and 1 shotgun as a backup, and made a choice keep a couple heavies in my inventory just incase. So no energy weapons. So getting rid of all of my energy weapons, and fuel cells, lightened up my stash by almost 300. So I think the biggest thing, is to decide what you want your armor type and weapon type to be and theb scrap all the rest or just leave it and don't pick it up, and it has made me be able to manage my inventory and stash without Fall1st. it's for sure manageable.
Yes dude! Nice advice. Didnt know hardly any of this last year when i started. YES- it is load bearing… CLAIM TOKENS!!!! You can trade them in outside the entrance of the mine.. they give you junk and random ammo I believe. THEY WEIGH SO DAMN MUCH. So yeah, there are better ways to get scrap and ammo without holding 5k lbs of tokens!
If you’ve got items in the vendor that don’t get sold, usually power armor or weapons with no legendaries, then it’s best to scrap them or sell them at an npc vendor. I had 2 power armor sets that took up around 200 lbs of space in my vendor that never got sold, plus it opened the doors for more caps to be made with additional vendor slots.
Awesome video! Something I noticed you don't really touch on is the use of mules. If you have a friend, then its not hard to swap items between characters. I have an account literally just called mule, who's stash and inventory has hit max. Which is just all the stuff I never want to get rid of or scrap. I think you can have 1200 space in your stash and then 1650 pounds for your maximum inventory space.
As a newer player I run out of these....lvl 55 I need to farm or buy: Aluminum Springs (clipboards and lighters - head to Sugar Grove to get like 30 springs each time) Lead (make sure to pick up those pencils everywhere you find them) Ballistic Fiber (I tend to buy these from vendors) Adhesive (I pick up any and all duct tape I can find)
At around 20 mins in your video, when discussing Junk, I expected you to bring up making scrapped junk bulk, a la bulk lead, bulk steel, via the Tinker’s Workbench. As a non FO1st player, that saves even more weight in your stash, and you can sell bulk to vendors. I find after you are done with your camp, you really don’t need concrete, and repair kits take care of actually repairing things at workbenches.
Such a useful video! I've omly been playing 76 for a few weeks and have been struggling with my stash box being full when I need to dump stuff accumulated at an event.
I have started posting these videos in a fallout group on FB, I noticed a lot of new players asking questions about the game, so i intended to guide them to you to gain their answers lol, hope you dont mind dude.. i can remove them all if required, but your videos could attract alot of fallout 76 skeptics from the group too, as you make the game look tasty, even to me with 3k hours in the game.
Wow, thanks so much for doing that! Just make sure it's ok to post that stuff in the specific group ;). Really appreciate it, and of course I'll gladly welcome anyone to the channel and try to get to all their questions. Thanks again
Dude, sorry but you're wrong. This game is absolutely not easily playable without FO1st if you like to roll your own weapons every day. You need way too much junk to craft even basic guns like a handmade, and it gets too expensive to keep dumping/selling junk you don't use until you want more, and then have to buy it or run around wasting hours collecting it again. Re-rolling legendaries instead of crafting new weapons to roll is stupid as mitigation too, as you lose out on scrip returns doing that, before anyone suggests it. Don't fool yourselves into thinking this is anything other than by design either. This game uses nefarious methods of coercing money from it's players. It also doesn't help if you have a lot of good weapons already, like I do. I like to switch up my build from time to time because otherwise the game gets stale and boring, so I have various g'roll weapon types in my stash at any given time. Which means I have to constantly choose between either having no junk to craft with, or having to hold a ton of weapons I'm not currently using on me because I can't stash them until I use the junk, which then means I can barely move most of the time. At this point honestly, I'm getting tired of the dirty tactics Bethesda uses to squeeze cash from players, coupled with the sheer number of bugs and problems in the game. I'm looking for other games to play.
Honestly if they scrapped the whole stash limit thing it might have more people playing the game because 99% of fallout players hoard everything naturally
Im level 120, have fallout 1st with all my junk and ammo stored for free, and use the aid carry weight perks so I don't store any meds in stash and 1200 lbs is still not enough storage if you want to be able to keep more than one set of gear and still have a vendor. An increase to 1500 would be extremely appreciated but id prefer 2000.
Tip today i found out during events if you use a cannon with explosive shots youll get a ridiculous amount of cannon balls back. Youll then take these and exchange them on the ammo converter. It gives 2000 points per 200 rounds which is 1-2 events depending on the enemy. You wont have ammo taking up space if its points.

New player here, just started playing this week. Is it not possible to craft containers or chests or lockers or anything to store weapons or armor or apparel or food items to help keep them sorted from each other instead of having everything grouped together in the stash box?
Are there good places to set up my camp so that people will come by and actually look at my store and buy things? I find that when people come by they usually buy a few things no problem but its just that they dont check me out very often.
What would you recommend with scrap. I still miss a lot of things but im sure i have a bunch of useless scrap and it usually takes up 5-700lb should i just drop some?
Regarding ammo, I refuse to pickup/keep missiles because they weigh so much. With mini nukes I sometimes keep just one to have to shoot now and then for fun if I stumble across a fat man launcher.
You guy probably already know but another way to clear stash space is to equip your PA pieces to chasis and store the whole unit in there instead of the game registering the weight of individual parts it will only register the weight of the chasis. As a PA merchant this is a must do.
After a week of playing, you don't really need to stash any food, there are more than enough places that you can fast travel and kill some Brahmins, the NPCs will not attack you. With the extra meat from animals you can get from SPECIAL cards, it really shouldn't be a biggie. Except if you wanna use get the buff stats. But if I'm not mistaken, both Radstag and Brahmin (when cooked) will net you +20 carry weight for like 30min or something.

westy thanks for always making quality content and not filler bullshit for newbies and veterans alike. straight to the point easy to digest and informative. cant stand the idiots who make clickbait titles. keep it up hermano
Thanks for the nice comment buddy :). Really appreciated!
As a long time Fallout player but new 76 player this is so helpful! I have been storing my power armor in pieces because I had no idea you could store it with the pieces on, especially since I can't wear armor with the pieces yet. Thanks for all the tips!
Thanks for the nice comment ❤️
I think the Perk Cards do not affect your stash box. It's just a bug. You can try to remove the items and you'll see the real numbers. That's why you're better off having all items on you if you have a perk card or a backpack with weigh reduction.
especially fusion cores/ammo. Thanks for commenting!
He hasn't been able to fast travel for 6 months because I'm such a hoarder. lol. Fun though. I'm just starting to vendor items I haven't touched in a while and getting used to selling things in order to fund my new interest in Aristocrats weapons and Overeater's armour.
I was thinking about being our teams quartermaster constantly overburdened with gear.
"Make it to it's final form" when talking about junk made me laugh so hard that was funny & great tips brotha
Watch your boiled water accumulation. It's probably the most common loot. I had 150 lb of it on me yesterday and didn't even realize it. Holy Moly. You know I took a big boiled water dump, right there in the road. =D
Thanks for the great video. I confess i do FO 1st once or twice a year( usually as a B-day present to myself) so i can fill my scrap box and now my ammo stash now that thats a thing which helps a lot , you can still pull from it after you lose FO 1st you just cant store it anymore ( pretty sure you can't store it ).
U cant store it... sadly
Now I know not to get it🫤
@@aaftiyoDkcdicurakDude you’re just cheap if you won’t pay the 45 cents a day for your enjoyment. It’s a huge progress killer, have fun micro-managing the entire time you play😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A moment of silence for the bad old days, before the stash limit was increased...
I remember this, playing at release (prob one of the few that enjoyed it, juet had no one to play with)
And damn, it was 800 I think?
Ah, wait. This is sarcasm, isn't it? I really need more sleep.
I wish we could apply it to the camp as well.
I would usually store junk which is hard to get. The rest which is easy to get, I would just go farm them when I need them. The bulking thing was new for me. I did not know that it did not make any difference and I was wasting my precious molded plastics. Thanks for the tip.
I thought the same. Thanks for commenting!
By being limited to 1200 pounds junk stash box by not being 1st it is insane to see what your junk weighs.
Shi mine rn weighs like 2k lmao
If it was even raised to 2k to 3k would help a lot
Guys, we went from
300
400
500
800
1200
Just started playing 3 days ago and made it to level 46 using tips and tricks i learnt off your videos
Thank you 👍
Awesome! Very glad to help
Why is it your goal to levetup fast?
Thanks for this video. I hit the 1200 lbs from hoarding and forgetting about the items. This video helped me knock it down to 650 lol. Had 200 lbs of legendary stuff collected and forgotten about
Oh awesome! Hey, we all forget even at my level. Thanks for commenting!
Stash wouldn’t be a problem if ammo didn’t weigh nothing at all.
Esp for railway spikes they weigh a ton
I'm a Fallout 1st player, have the unlimited ammo stash box....trust me, it's still a problem. Stash box needs to be 2000lbs
One thing I will say about ammo is to invest in an ammo converter don't just drop it.... if you put all the low selling and unusable ammo in there gain points over time and get the ammo you use.... save you a little bit on crafting ammo materials... and you can replace your high sellers in the vendor with that if you choose also
This.
Funny thing regarding canned dog food, during the beta and after launch I took the triple benefit from dog food perk, friends laughed and joked, but I wasn't the one that was always hungry
My character lives off of canned dog food and achohol, and has for many years.
It'll keep you going and then some lol
Can do perk my beloved
I always have that Good Doggy perk equipped! 😂
I wish they would give us the option to sell ammo
I just give it all away in the donation boxes.
@@cattony7479 sometimes I just do if it's not what I'm using
You can use an ammo converter to get ammo credits or sell it to real players. List for $1 per round and it'll go fast.
@@connorreck5910 I tried that but its the shared container spread I don't like
I wish we could scrap explosives and ammo to craft ammo you need!!
I’d settle for stash size doubling or tripling or make it so you can reduce weight of certain items in stash like you can in your inventory.
I generally have thru hiker and traveling pharmacy equipped so I keep almost all food and chems on my character to save room in the stash box.
If you get the grocery mod on you back pack I feel it works better then thru hiker
@@TheHellsAngel666 I use the high capacity backpack for the extra 60lbs carry weight so thru hiker is a must for me.
Bit of a food build perk tbh
Lol bro when I take my bag off I got from 430 weight to 1300 I love my backpack
@@TheHellsAngel666 thru hiker has the same 90% less food weight so I essentially use three star perk to get 60 more carry weight. In the end they achieve the same goal.
Great motto.... if you dont use it, sell it or drop it. Good video. Covered it well. I just got FO76 First and it cured my inventory problem. Plus it has encouraged me to keep a tighter reign on things. I am a Fallout explorer and hoarder from Fallout 3 onward. Just the piece of mind First gives me is immeasurable.
Hi, for our new friends who'd like to manage their stims and rads alternatively to stashing.
Equip luck stim/rad find perk when needed. (Rinse and repeat perks when appropriate)
great video...i'm a dummy, didn't realize until watching this that weight was eating up my stash space. i have a bunch of power armor i don't use that i see is eating up a ton of space
I don't store ANY weapons (except grenades/mines I find, so I can sell them once the vendors caps restock)
I don't store ANY armor (except the one power armor frame)
I don't store ANY apparel (except a Hazmat Suit)
I have a handful of foods (and my extra Purified Waters)
I have barely any "aid" (never use any except RadX, RadAway and Stimpacks)
I don't store any Misc (because most of 'em can't be stored to begin with)
I toss in any HoloTapes I can
I toss in most Notes I can (but I sell any plans/recipes I already know)
I never keep any Mods, because they're for things I don't have/use (so far)
I have a fair amount of ammo, but I try not to have too many (especially things like the missiles)
Junk is the bane of my existence. I barely have more than 100-200 of everything (with a few being in the 10's, and a handful being nonexistent) and yet I'm always stuck around 1100/1200
Another very useful video. Good job! I just cleared out all my crap. Saved myself like 200lb
Junk right? It's a common mistake we all make! Thanks for watching!!
@@MrWestTek yeh junk lol. I had a ridiculous amount of Power Armour Chassis too.
I had no idea. I've been trying to figure out how to manage my power armor. I had moved every thing to an alt but that's such a hassle. This is great. Soon as I get home I'm doing this. Thank you for the tip
This is super helpful, thank you! Looking forward to more!
I’ve been grinding the treasure hunters… so this will defiantly help me as I will be MASSIVELY hoarding :)
Thanks for watching!
Thank you @MrWestTek I stumbled across your UA-cam channel/videos recently, and I really appreciate your content Sir, and you have been a BIG help to me and my Fallout 76 level 58 power armor build character. I'm kinda stuck at the moment, I have 4 unused perks from leveling up that I don't know how to get used for perks and what not atm. Thanks again for your help Sir
Thanks for the nice comment :). Just save up those points, you can only have 50 perk points as active perks so you will start to get extras.
@@MrWestTek you're welcome, and one more question for you, what's the next level that I can invest any perk points?
@@The_Lone_Wolfi believe its every 50 levels
This'll be super useful, thanks for making this video! I think of things I'm likely to hoard, it'll be important materials (Once I figure out what I need) and Apparel, because I want to look stylish when wandering the wasteland!
You're so welcome!
This is how I keep my stash box clean and have around 100 pounds of breathing room for emergency situations WITHOUT Fallout 1st:
1. Like MrWestTek says in the video, if you aren't using it, get rid of it. Sell it or drop it
2. There's 5 major things that will put alot of weight in your stash box: Weapons, Armor, Medicine, Junk, and ammo
3. Only keep up to 5 of each type of medicine that isn't stimpaks. As for stimpaks, keep as little of them as your build will allow. Stimpaks especially will weigh you down FAST
4. Only keep up to 200 or less of each type of junk no matter what it is. At least this is what I find alot of success with as a melee build user. Other builds might need more junk. Essentially, try to keep as little junk as possible. It will help keep your weight under control
Thanks for your help. I’ve been struggling for so long.I’m so much better with you help 👍🏼
You are so welcome!
I picked up 76 three weeks ago, your informative videos are a huge help thanks brotha. 🔥I challenge you to put together an updated build video, maybe some combos of PA and non-PA. TIA
Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment :)
These be the most helpful videos ngl
Very glad to help :). And thanks for watching!
Thru hiker and travelling pharmacy are really good perks. I wouldn’t bother putting food in my stash box. Especially nuka cola. Since they weigh like 1.
Great point :)
This is very good thank you Mr WestTek. Much appreciated.
No problem buddy. I'm sure this video will help a lot of people :)
What items should I spam craft with the junk I have? Since I don't want to buy fallout 1st or drop all the excess junk I have.
One of my characters has 16 power armor frames all full of PA pieces of script. Also useful to carry an empty frame out on your adventures in case you get some PA drops.
60+ lbs on a 10lb chassis should be an obvious answer but I’m amazed at the number of high lvl players that still don’t comprehend this.
@@CryHarder666 you can also use that one perk card, I forgot what it’s called but it can lower the chassis down to 2.5 pounds when the card is maxed
@@Anonymous-hf1xrthat's what I useb
Oh my god why did i forget this i literally have so much junk pa i cant sell for scrip bc the cap daily
"This character's a herbivore" lol. Thats some serious roleplay.
Most peoples builds are herbivore or carnivore in this game.
It is a type of buff known as a mutation and there are 2 options herbivore or carnivore, they increase the benefits of meat or plants
thanks for the vid even with Fallout 1st I'm a hoarder. As far as I've seen bulking only saves weight on a couple of the scrap types and also then wastes the plastic (so I would give that a miss unless its steel or lead I think)
I was just curious as to what junk weights more when bulked
Ive never cashed in on the 100 token tier (top tier), but all the other tiers give you similar stuff that mole miner pales
I hate load barring lol....
About 1850 my character topped out at.
As a newer player I run out of these....lvl 55 I need to farm or buy:
Aluminum
Springs (clipboards and lighters - head to Sugar Grove to get like 30 springs each time)
Lead (make sure to pick up those pencils everywhere you find them)
Ballistic Fiber (I tend to buy these from vendors)
Adhesive (I pick up any and all duct tape I can find)
At around 20 mins in your video, when discussing Junk, I expected you to bring up making scrapped junk bulk, a la bulk lead, bulk steel, via the Tinker’s Workbench.
As a non FO1st player, that saves even more weight in your stash, and you can sell bulk to vendors. I find after you are done with your camp, you really don’t need concrete, and repair kits take care of actually repairing things at workbenches.
So when you say "get rid" do u mean sell, scrap or just donate?
Such a useful video! I've omly been playing 76 for a few weeks and have been struggling with my stash box being full when I need to dump stuff accumulated at an event.
Really glad I could help! Thanks for watching 😁
Thanks again
not a problem, thanks for the appreciation@@MrWestTek , happy hunting
The first 10mm that I got from the woman outside Vault 76.. I renamed it "My First Gun" and keep it around in my stash :D
That's cool. But I do have a question? Is there a camp acid machine ( source) that I could use at my camp?
@@-Blitzo wow… a YT comment that’s actually of value? You’re right on the money 100%
If you’re broke just say that
the problem i run into isnt the stuff directly in my stash box but items on display. all items put on display count towards stash/camp weight.
Do I have to take the scrap put pf the box and into myself to be able to build or I can build and everything in the scrapbox will be available?
Tip today i found out during events if you use a cannon with explosive shots youll get a ridiculous amount of cannon balls back. Youll then take these and exchange them on the ammo converter. It gives 2000 points per 200 rounds which is 1-2 events depending on the enemy. You wont have ammo taking up space if its points.
I am starting my fallout76 journey today.. Thanks for making this video. Helpful for nooblet like me hehe!!
Very glad you enjoyed it! Hope it helps with the hording lol

Are there good places to set up my camp so that people will come by and actually look at my store and buy things? I find that when people come by they usually buy a few things no problem but its just that they dont check me out very often.
Guys get yourself a weapon weight reduction perk on pa or armor !!! Grenades and weapons / meeles are almost weightless 😁😇
I thought it doesn't affect grenades?
I've heard with that you need it on at least 3 pieces for it to be effective
What would you recommend with scrap. I still miss a lot of things but im sure i have a bunch of useless scrap and it usually takes up 5-700lb should i just drop some?
Do you learn mods by scrapping them. I have a bunch I may never use in stash box. Unsure what to do w them.
I wonder if Asterisk comes before Dash?
I'm confused, how does a stash box weights you down? Just leave it at the camp
Very good information, thanks for the comment!!
i found the cause of my weight problems on my character it was cannonballs i had 180 of them used up 100 lbs without knowing it lol
12:12 wth, what are those cards made of, damn...
I've noticed that you don't really have rad away so is it normal to have over 400?
After a week of playing, you don't really need to stash any food, there are more than enough places that you can fast travel and kill some Brahmins, the NPCs will not attack you. With the extra meat from animals you can get from SPECIAL cards, it really shouldn't be a biggie. Except if you wanna use get the buff stats. But if I'm not mistaken, both Radstag and Brahmin (when cooked) will net you +20 carry weight for like 30min or something.
Do you have a spreadsheet on how much to sell apparel pieces for?
Next of backpack guy please. New player here looking for something better than + 5 carry weight. Horror video for best places to farm for plans in general.
